Thanks!

[Q] Switching between ROMS?

Hey guys, quick question. I am currently running CM7 on my V but it is to unstable for me, too many FC's and reboots. I would like to flash That Ain't Sense ROM, found here:
http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-all-things-root/312747-rom-theme-wait-aint-sense-4-6-2011-a.html
Under the directions, it says:
how to flash:
put gapps and rom on sdcard
wipe the hell out of your phone
flash both and reboot
enjoy

When it says, wipe the hell out of the phone, what specifically do I have to wipe, and at what time during the process? Since I am moving to an entirely new ROM, what do I need to wipe?
P.S. I am running thunderc recovery.
Data, cache, system, dalvik cache and something else i can't remember. If am i not wrong, ROMManager doesn't work on the V, so you can't switch back and forth freely, unless there is another method.

You wanna wipe before flashing a new ROM. I wipe data/cache, then Dalvik cache then flash ROM, then gapps file

Is that all I have to wipe? I made a nandroid backup but I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

This should be in Q&A
That's all I wipe. Wiping everything won't hurt though. Just don't do a factory reset through the settings with the phone booted up. Do it through the recovery.

HELP

i tried to install villianrom and its stuck on a villainrom load screen =[
Wipe and then flash again.
ok i did that, it worked but after i went to CWM and restored my files its stuck at the boot screen again?? do i just keep trying until it works or am i doing it wrong??
Wipe cache and dalvik cache, and try again, you may not be able to restore stuff with cwm, that's what titanium is for.
Nandroid in cmw is more for full system restore.

Stuck on loading screen after flash

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I think this is in the right place.
I used this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206746 to flash my HTC Sensation. I rooted, S-OFF and everything went fine. I flashed and backed it up. Now there were no error during flash (I flashed with the Clockwork app) and it rebooted and now for the last 40 minutes, its been stuck on the loading screen where it says "HTC, quietly brilliant" and then it starts again, and again and again. Slightly annoying now...
I have no idea what is wrong or what I should do.
Let me know if you need anymore info...

Did you wipe EVERYTHING before flashing?

have u tried to go to recovery? and what does it says?
Reflash. If not go to recovery. And wipe data. You might have a boot loop.

Thanks for the quick reply's and help. I realise now that I did not wipe EVERYTHING because I wanted to keep my HTC "scene" layout. I've restored it from before i flashed it and i'm going to flash again. Thanks again. Ill post if it worked.
Edit
I'm using Titanium Backup to save it all by the way and I've "Thanks" you all.
Well, did it work cuz I got stuck in that constant boot up mode yesterday and I just took the battery out and than held down volume plus power button went into HBoot than recovery and I had my original system backed up so I just wiped than restored my original than went in and flashed the ROM properly and all good now just thought this might help?
In ROM Manager, "ROM Pre-Installation" is "backup existing rom", "wipe data and cache" and "wipe dalvik cache. My question is, what is dalvik cache?

It seems I was flashing the theme for the ROM without the ROM. Anyway I downloaded the right one and it still doesn't work. Can someone just check this list of what I'm doing.
(Already Backed Up ROM)
- Open ROM Manager
- "Install Custom ROM"
- Choose the "P3D_Full_Wipe.zip"
- Let that flash and what not
- Boot into HBOOT
- Recovery
- Install zip from SD
- Choose "CdTDroid....zip"
- Let that do and what not
- Click "Reboot and start system"
Also, I'd like to know how to flash from Recovery. I think ^^that's^^ how.

Nope. It still doesn't work. No matter how many times I do it. I did it exactly right this time. I did it all from the ClockworkMod Recovery place. It still doesn't work. It just says HTC and it doesn't even come up with the slogan. I don't know what to do now.... Please help!
Edit
I've done everything in this post to root my phone with S-OFF and everything. I haven't used any other guides or anything.

Are you only trying to wipe by using that zip? Forget about that and wipe using the options in your recovery

Just trying that now and waiting..... How long will I have to wait for it to boot? So far its been 45 secs and its just flashed the slogan up on the loading screen.
It loaded! Yay! Now how to get the theme....
Can't you just do everything in recovery, your theme should still be in there if you backed it up just wondering?

[Q] Samsung 9001 S plus + install RemICS v3 with TWRM

I installed the latest version of RemICS by using TWRM. (First deleted the caches and did that afterwards as well.)
Now the phone is still on the ReMICS - UX bootscreen, already for quite a long time. How long does this usually take the first time after flashing? We are talking about 15 minutes already. The bootscreen is still animated and moving and not frozen. Any thoughts on this?
Or is it impossible to succefully flash via TWRM?
Maybe a bad flash. Go back into recovery, clear data and cache, then reflash the ROM.
It that doesn't work download the file again and flash it.

I flashed it again. deleted the caches AND did a reset to factory defaults, which I thought you did anyway when deleting the caches and system files. That solved the issue for me. Thanks for the reply.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.2 stuck on circle

This is my first time trying to install this I have a Samsung galaxy s2 T989 And I'm pretty sure I've done it right. I factory wiped it, cleared the cache and the cleared the cache in advanced settings. It's been atlesst over 10min and its still on the blue circle just spinning around.
Can someone please help me?
When I installed cm10.2 for the first time mine done that. Best bet and worked for me is do a battery pull and reboot. If that don't push you past the spinning circle which I ran across you should reinstall the ROM again and it should boot up just fine. Hope this helps
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
You've bootlooped it. The T989 is a pain when flashing custom ROM's because the custom recovery's built in wipe doesn't quite work for it.
Keep this ZIP handy as you'll be needing to run it every single time you need to wipe data/cache and dalvik. Don't ever ever use any other means of wiping aside from this one until this issue is fixed. I've been doing this for a while and have flashed upwards of 20 ROM's on my T989 alone.
It's called Darkside Super Wipe.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955
So, just put that ZIP on your SD card, along with your custom ROM and appropriate Gapps. Flash Darkside first (always) then flash ROM then Gapps. Then reboot and problem solved!!
Good luck!! :highfive:
So after putting that in my sd card. Install that and gapps and cm10.2?

Yup, install Darkside Super Wipe first, then install the ROM zip then Gapps. Then reboot!
Should I factory reset and clear caches first or no?

Nope, just run the Darkside Super Wipe and it'll erase all /system, /data and /cache partitions. And like the thread says, it won't wipe your SD card or EMMC.
Just make sure you don't leave the recovery without flashing the ROM and Gapps
Also, you should get in the habit of making backups. You can make them from CWM or TWRP's custom recovery.
Titanium backup is an application on the Google Play store that you should look into as well my friend.
T989 Tears
Very finicky phone for customs. On mine I can get no ROM to fully load other than the stock Koodo 4.04, and CM 10.0 I flashed the latest radio for JB, darkside super wipe, flash custom rom, flash gapps, wipe dalvik. The same process for every ROM i try... still no success, 10.2 stays at boot. Dirty Unicorns starts boot, goes through the "optimizing apps" stage gets to the "starting apps" and reboots, lather, rinse, repeat. I've tried a few others, AOKP and some others. Still only Koodo 4.04 and CM 10.0 will fully boot. Not even the stock T-mobile 4.03 will boot (came with phone). Going to give JMT a shot, it looks pretty
