[Q] HP TP FPS @ max and decent medial player? - TouchPad General

Hi guys,
1. I was just wondering if the TP's fps was capped? I'm currently using the CM1 XRON-ified ROM and I did a fps test with fps2d and it maxed out @ 57-60.. So my question is: "Is there a hack or modificationfor this"?
2. I can't find a decent player on both the WebOS and the Android OS. Can someone tell me a decent player to use on both OS'. I used touchplayer and Kalemsoft and both don't work...

Via Preware you can install Mojo FPS Booster (100 FPS)

Moboplayer
Arc media I clicked on the MKV file and he then returned to the main screen. Mobo player loaded normally and ran, but ran with lag in the format MKV (High Definition). What do you recommend me? Use the 7 2.3.4 Cyanogen

Of course, if you try playing 720p movies will be slow, because our processor it's only 600Mhz, or what you have overclocking, and for playing 720p it's needed 1GHz +, so best resolution for see movies smooth -> 480p max
lol
thanks for the explanation. Just a question! Do you think that our processor could handle a day with a 1 Ghz modifcações that will arise? Why does our phone supports 720, but we do not have the necessary processor. What do you think?

You mean overclock it to 1GHz ? it will explode your device max handle its 825mhz, and only few people have reached it, best speed seems to be 691 MHz
EDIT: Instead of saying thanks, press thanks button
lol
then it means that the honeycomb will not come to our Xperia as they said?

Not for ARM v6 processors.
Why would you even want Honeycomb on our phone? Honeycomb is ment for tablets and most apps for it will likely well, be unusable.

[HELP] me about playing HD Videos..

I need to play HD videos on my gTab. I have Vegan Tab gingeredition 2.3.5. I installed Kensed Player or something like that, it opened .mkv video but there was a lot of lag.
Can I play HD videos on 2.3.5 without lag?

Try VEGenTAB 7.1, It is the ROM that allows me to play H.264 stream smoothly. Seems like the gingerbread ROMs are better on video playback IMO. Btw OC to 1.5 will be fine. Good luck.

thanks for advice.
can you give me link of vegentab 7.1? and give me advise about kernel, which kernel is best?
I'm not sure if this will help, but you could try Summer Player. They keep changing the name of it but the version I have that is most stable is called best video player aka summer player. Its free.
This gave me the best video playback on my G2 running gingerbread. so maybe it will work for you.
Also plays 5.1 audio correctly.
update: I installed it on the Flashback 10.0 alpha rom (Honeycomb 3.1) annnnd it starts to play video then goes back to the file selection menu.

Here you go.
http://vegantab.gojimi.com/
You can use Pershoot's (1.4) or Clemsyn's OC (1.6) kernel for gingerbread.
Pershoot's 1.4 use as is.
Clemsyn's 1.6 you should undervolt it by .50mv for all speed above 1Ghz.
Use setcpu to manage the OC.
Good luck.

[Q] Flash Video stuttering in Fullscreen...

Hey all.
I have Quadrant Score up to 2825 @ lazy 1,4GHz - [email protected] / RieGo Kernel 0.5 without GPU OC
It runs really fast and smooth...
But my Tab is unable to play some Flash Videos (no HD... think 640x480 or less) in Fullscreen without stuttering.
On my SGSII (2.3.4 Stock) the Same Movie runs without any problems.
Honeycomb or Flash issue? Tab to slow?
Disgusting... :-(
Any Ideas to optimize the performance from the tab without changing the Rom?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk
Thats not tab's mistake. I m in china and they have one website called youku just like YouTube. Its big website and when i try to play video it stutters so much. But when i play videos in other websites like engadget its just flawless. So i think its problem of some websites flash or JavaScript. I guess so.
But the exact Same Video from same Website runs without Problems on my SGSII.
And its not a problem with the Connection... only with fullscreen it stutters! Without fullscreen it plays okay.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Can you share that website link? I will try that video in fullscreen and then tell u. Because i m on stock kernel so i can tryout.

[Q] Twitch TV app only has low and medium stream option

I watch a lot of live streams of starcraft 2 from twitch tv. However, I noticed that the quality is so poor. You can only choose low or medium as quality options on my note.
I also have an HP touchpad and it has CM9 nightly on it. Twitch TV app works better on there. It has low, medium, high, Ultra options.
I'm just wondering why I don't have an option for High or Ultra for my note. Unfortunately, there are no options/settings for this app.
Is it because the HP TP is considered a tablet, giving more quality options? Or is because the TP has a lower resolution compared to the note?
Is there a way to hack the app to have better quality options for the note? BTW, both devices are connected to my wireless router (FIOS 45down / 35up).
EDIT: I'm on GB, using the unofficial with v6 script and yes, if I got directly go to the browser (flash based twitch.tv), I can stream to 1080p without a hitch.
Thanks
I experienced the same thing on my note using GB. I did install ICS and do have the high and ultra settings. I am assuming its a GB related issue. Installing one of the ICS roms will get you the High/Ultra quality options.

Got it. Too bad MX player has issues on ICS for me (subtitles sync issue). I use both apps heavily (twitch tv and mx player).

THANK YOU!! For the very first time, I see *smooth* video playback of a Blu-ray rip on the Nexus 10!
How much more battery does this cost?
I hope, Google or the video player developers can fix this more generally.

Hmmm, after I tried 1300/1700, it does not work anymore, even with 1500/1700.
According to CPU spy, BS runs at 1700 all the time, but still I have those micro lags again.
Quit and restart of BS does not help...

great that it worked!...for a while
the difference is huge i agree
300mhz more CPU power doesnt seems that much but it is and you can see it.
i think setting it to the performance governor also made some difference.
also you dont want the CPU clock to be all over the place as it was before (from 200-1000mhz)
there seems to be some problem with SuperSu when its ask for permissions all the time.
when that happends and you are in a movie you will get the lag back even if SetCPU has permision.
you need to change some settings in SuperSu.
i have not tried it yet but it should work
i will update the first post later..

no need to use 1700mhz
that will kill your battery and also higher the risk of thermal throttling for the CPU.
(the CPU clocks down when it gets to hot)
set it to 1300mhz max and 1200mhz min instead.

FYI, the Samsung manual on the Exynos 5 processor in our tablet gives a full list of its hardware decoding capabilities for video. According to the manual it only supports 4.2 profiles and not the much more common 4.1 profiles. It also does not support .mkv files, but not sure if that matters since MKV is just a container and not the codec. But this could be why it isnt using full GPU hardware decoding capabilities of many movies and instead uses so much CPU power:
1080p 60fps (capable of decoding and encoding MPEG-4/H.263/H.264
and decoding only MPEG-2/VC1/VP8)

I tried this trick on Plex too to see if I could minimize the buffering that I've been plagued with. It seemed to help a good amount. There was still some pausing but it happened less often and was of MUCH MUCH MUCH shorter duration (like half a second to one second) and much less intrusive to the watching experience.
Thanks for the tip!

great that it speeds up buffering...didnt know that!
whats is Plex ?
Home media server kind of thing. Run a plex server on a desktop, run the plex app on your tablet and watch your movies, etc. I think part of our buffering problem is a recent change in the setup of the hard drives storing our media files, which we are going to try fixing, but still, set CPU seemed to make things better.

If you read the H.264 wiki, it seems that Levels correspond to supported resolution and frame rate maximums. So all 4.1 encodings should be supported on a 4.2. The BP / MP / HP mean Baseline Profile / Main Profile / High Profile. All different types of encodings.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC#Levels
MKV is a wrapper. It may never be supported on the built in video player, but all 3rd party (MX Player/BS Player etc) can easily demux the core video data for hardware decoding.
:Rainbow The more you know....

Had it on userspace gov. Trying performance now. Also, wouldn't it seem more logical (to eliminate switching altogether), to set it to 1300/1300?
---------- Post added at 06:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
I would not change global SuperSU settings to "grant" instead of "ask".
I configured "grant" and "no notification" for SetCPU and for the ProfilesService instead.
BTW, 1300/1300 also works good for the TimeScape video.
I am really glad someone else finally saw the not-smoothness in video playback. Or maybe some N10 can play smooth without this trick...
Will you inform the BSplayer developers about this? Maybe they can now do something, so that SetCPU is not necessary?
Seems like it may be helping YouTube buffering as well. Need to do some more testing with that.

lol i think they read this
once you have set your profile you dont need to bother with it..so no problem here if its not fixed in BSplayer.
maybe they can fix it but then you probably need root anyway.
i think all N10s perform the same so its no chance you can get this smooth playback with the default setting.
as i said..300mhz is alot for adding performance to an app

i dont know what CPU speed youtube is using but it can be checked with CPUSpy
its easy to make one more profile just for youtube if you need it.
