Wow I'm impressed with the purchase of my Touchpad! The device, operating system, Web OS, and app store really blew my mind. Nothing is lacking! I might install Android some time in the future but not now. Damn this device is so underrated!
You have not seen anything yet until you install Android!

Just got one as a gift today. WebOS is okay, but it just doesn't have the number of apps Android has, plus I know how to use Android. I had CM7 on it by this afternoon and I love it. About the only bad part is missing out on the tablet apps that want Honeycomb or newer, but an ICS port someday will solve this. Even though its only an alpha the CM port is really good. I was pleasantly surprised to have a perfectly working market and even the latest Flash Player works which does a great job in Dolphin set to a desktop user agent. I don't see a need to go back to WebOS.
You should try my xronified ROM then. If coming from cm you would need full factory wipe and wipe cache but its very clean...

Since people have managed to put cm7 on touchpads, how difficult will MIUI be....assuming there is a tablet version of it.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
a bit more difficult. TBH I haven't even tried to straight port it, though I should but no time
you can try though I left alot of instructions on how to port for the hd2, should be applicable for it
Once i overcome the fear of losing my touchpad i might give it a shot, would it be easier if MIUI release their version of ics?

Vote for MIUI in our touchpads. Link in the signature.
I'm considering doing this port but there are more moving parts than people think.
YH i can imagine but it'd be the best choice till cm9 shows up

I think another big problem is we really don't have complete access to the blocks. Really wish we could alter the acmeinstaller so we could change over ramdisk easily and partition changes. I think once full beta comes out could open the door for better opportunities.

MIUI on the touchpad would be amazing, please keep us updated!
It would be amazing only if we had tablets tweaks like we do with CM7.
Here's a port of ICS framework with MIUI on the DroidX: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/9279-ics-miui-test-1119/
I did the nook color port and was initially thinking about doing it for touchpad too when I got it, but I just never got around to it. I will do it probably for ICS when they both are out.
Its pretty easy to do, since CM7 people did all the real work.

I havent looked for any changelog. I have just been watching YouTube videos about it. lol. But you are right. Its pretty much just ICS on steroids. The biggest features are google now and whatever they did to make the OS super fast. At least thats what I feel are the major changes.

It feels like alot of clutter was removed from the system and the store was changed. Play Magazines is actually an awesome addition with reasonably priced items (.99 c for any one mag $14.99 for an annual subscription). Google Now is actually kind of scary in that it has just what you need to know when you need to know it. The 'card' system is great when you want to know about the current weather and traffic but the google seach integration sucks therefore making the sports and travel cards blow. The notification bar has been improved allowing you read whole messages and call from there, snooze alarms and whatnot. The whole thing is just....smoooth...Jelly Bean is ICS fully realized.

Hello everyone! I was here at work in the nursing home doing absolutely nothing and decided to try and port the Kindle Fire Jandycane JB 4.1 rom over to our tablet. I worked meticulously and was able to get the port to work and it seems rather stable except for our kernel limitations. I do not however get the updater script edited properly so a couple of features specific to the UI on the rom do not function but it is a nice alternative to the CM10 rom and it works fairly well. I especially like the baked in file browser and theme support! If anyone would like to add anything to make this rom better, PM me. We have a great community here and we all cant wait until the CM10 rom is as smooth as butter! I build this rom for fun and unfortunately I cannot provide any support since i dont really know what I am doing This rom is hosted on Mediafire and will only be available for thirty days as of 7/29. If a couple things get fixed such as proper mic support and location services, then maybe someone could host it on Goo-im. Thanks and I hope you like. P.S. Use Jelly Bean gapps and go check out the original authors page at xda developers kindle fire jandycane.
This is the link to the file. http://www.mediafire.com/?a3dzbc21v0tyfcd

Here are some UI pics. The rom is set to tablet mode which is the default with Jandycane. The other pic is of the baked in filebrowser. I believe this rom also has root access yea!

Everything seemed to work fine. Liked the home screen layout. Switched back to miui. Still had random reboot and blank screen issue. I know this is because of the kernel. When thoes issues get fixed this will definitely be the rom I would go to. Thanks!

Well, i have just installed this, and it seems to be as good, if not slightly quicker, than the other JB rom on the site. to be honest, its just niced to actually see a new rom pop up. im not dissing anyone obviously, but, i (still) have a htc desire, and the rom choice on xda is staggering, so, ive been hoping a few more devs/roms will start appearing!

Will be giving this a run over the weekend, I'll be stuck at work with hopefully not much to do.. I have been looking forward to seeing more devs pick up on the Nook Tab, surprised that the Kindle has so much more following given it doesnt have the SD card expandability of the Nooks
Well, the Kindle Fire has a pretty-much finished kernel, while ours still has it's holes in it. More developers should arrive when problems are fixed.

This port was quick and dirty. I will be more thorough once the 3.0 kernel is fixed. In the meantime i am thinking of porting over another Kindle fire rom based on 2.3. Any suggestions?

No, I'm talking about his next port. He said it was Android 2.3 based.
Ive been using this for over a day now, only had 2 or 3 reboots, so, love it. Well done again. Both the ics rom and other jb rom reboot too much for me for some reason.
Another problem ive noticed, is that whenever I do a nandroid of anything other than cm7, thwy always either have md5 mismatch, or they just boot loop. This rom did as well, so I'm just sticking with this for the minute!

Hmmm well... You don't think it might be time to update to an ICS ROM? If you don't want to do that maybe try a wipe and reflash. I imagine as old as GB is now that some apps are moving away from GB APIs for newer ICS and jb APIs which may be what is causing the apps to crash.

Well I have reflashed a couple times recently to see if it would fix it, but no dice. Any ICS roms you recommend? Anything special/different I must do to flash one of those vs. Gingerbread?
Well jblacks cm9 is a good ROM but ATM data connectivity is a problem. It works but drops out like twisted ICS. For any other ICS ROMs you will have to go to infectedrom.com and register. There are at least 8 ROMs there. All of them are great.
