[Q] How to update WebOS after CM7 install - TouchPad General

Hey guys, like the title says, im having trouble updating webos once I have it rooted with android. I've read a lot of threads and it isn't mentioned anywhere, and a search doesn't reveal anything else either. Does anyone know how to do this?
If it matters I'm on the latest xron rom.
Cheers!

What's the problem? I have updated webOS oftenish since installing CM.

Well, it would always throw me errors whenever I tried to update, mainly just update failed (updating through update manager). Since updating to the newest ROm though it seems to have pushed through! This is super weird, but I'll take it. Lol.

[Q] Wifi problems

my wifi doesnt work right. it will connect for a few minutes then it just stops working. i have cm 7.0.3., radio 7.08.35 and kernel 2.6.32.17 by miguel. i have done wipes and have tried a few different kernels. wifi will work for a few minutes then just stop. if i turn off wifi for a while and turn it back on it will work for a few minutes again. anybody have any advice?
As an update I flashed the salsa rom and its required kernel and wifi works fine now. However, I don't like this rom very much. I like CM. Does anyone know of a good working cm rom and kernel combination? I also have updated my radio to 7.15... Thanks
tried cm again and the same issue is back. cm 7.0.3-slide rom, 2.6.32.17-cyanogen mod-g46ca326 [email protected] #1 kernel, 7.15.35.16 radio. i cant understand what is going on
try the old CM6 and its variations? if you don't like Sense roms, then the froyo roms are the only one i had no wifi problems (other than Sense roms).
Try one of the newer CM roms (7.1 RC1 for instance). I used to have this problem all the time on CM7, but after HTC released the drivers for this device out to the community and then it was incorporated into CM7 I have not had problems with Wifi since.
I don't honestly know when that actually happened, but I bellieve it was after 7.0.3. I have been running 7.1 RC1 ever since the day it came out and have not had the problem at all. It is possible that may work for you.
Here is a link to it, which I just got from the main thread. CM7.1RC1
i will try it now. thank you for your help.
tried it. same problems
I've also had this same problem with both roms. I don't know much but I would say this isn't just a CM7.1 or Salsa problem, it seems to be a problem with either 2.3 or kernel compatibility with our beloved MT3G.
I think you are definitely right that it is a problem with 2.3 and how it works with the slide but it is a VERY hit and miss issue. Like I say, I had the problem with every CM7 nightly up through like 80 something and then those drivers were released and it started working for me. I am not sure if I did something different when I flashed the ROM or not but I was ecstatic when it did start working. Hopefully you guys are able to get it worked out, I know how frustrating it is. I went without Wifi for quite some time just because I liked CM7 that much but I am much happier with it working.
One other thing to try (again since I am no longer having this problem I am trying to think of things that I have done) is to be sure you have the latest radio flashed that was pulled from the 2.2.1 build. I have always had that radio so it is not something I often consider, but be sure you have flashed that. I will let you know if I can think of anything else.
There were two issues opened for this since the CM7 nightlies have been coming out. They are
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=3304
and
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=2153
It may be worth your noting in them that you have problems with the newer builds. I am not sure if they have fallen off the map yet as problems, but if so you may need to resurface in order for CM to fix them.
I had this same issue back on CM.
I was able to resolve it by installing S-Off through AlphaRev. Once this was done there are two wifi files that need to be replaced. They are ripped straight from the OTA rom.
I'm currently running CM7 nightly 124 and have not had an issue.

Did you do the official T-Mobile 2.2 update? That updates the hboot and the latest hboot isn't supported. You can push these files in recovery. You just got to mount system in recovery and push using adb.

[Q] Question about Unrooting and OTA updates.

Hello everyone,
I have a noob question about OTA updates after unrooting my Tab 10.1 Wifi.
After Samsung fixed the 3.2 update I updated my Tab not thinking that it was rooted. I don't necessarily care about loosing root as I really don't use it all that much. After the update it was acting strange and being really sluggish with certain things so I figured I would flash it back to stock and unroot the device and update from there. Well I used CWM to flash back the stock 3.1 ROM and then Odin to put the stock recovery back on. All went well with this and as soon as I rebooted I got the first update which was the to the market for movies. After it updates to that it stops. It's been sitting here for a couple days now without being able to update any further to TouchWiz or to 3.2. Is there something I missed that would prevent me from updating further when unrooting or am I just going to have to wait a really long time to update again?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Cody
May be you have the same issue as this

[Q] Clicking on "Software Update" Button Does Nothing

Hello,
After searching Google and the XDA site, I have been unable to find any threads/posts regarding this issue. I can't believe I'm the only one to have this problem, but...
A week ago I flashed a new ROM on my SGSII. I noticed today that when I go to Settings>About Phone>Software Update, nothing happens. It's as if I didn't touch it. I have used other ROMs in the past, but never noticed this. I don't think it is a bug or even a result of flashing the ROM as no one else has had this problem.
I'm using CHECKROM REVOHD V4 with the DarkKnight v2.5.2 kernel.
Would flashing the ROM again help?
All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
First you need to be signed in to your Samsung Account to get OTA updates and secondly unfortunately if your not on a "stock" Samsung ROM and Firmware combo the OTA updates dont work.
Plus OTA seems to only work for a few networks so far .

Indeed, since you're not on a stock ROM, OTA will never work anyways. I froze Software Updater in Titanium, and this is the behavior I see. (clicking update does nothing) CheckROM may have frozen this by default.
I was actually signed into my Samsung account as I thought that might be the issue but I won't worry about it anymore.
Thank you all so much!

There were some problems with OTA. Did you update the app after installing the base? Maybe that will solve the problem

I did the usual, factory reset, install the v 16. The update me smartphone app is still on there, which tells you of the update (just end up getting the apk for the new updater) so i unzip that one and the new program doesnt recognize the rom?
Try downloading the app directly from google playstore

evervolv (bad .zip) update error?

Im currently running evervolv, the 01/28 build, trying to update to current i keep getting a bad zip error in recovery. I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, I've been digging for two days to no avail. I've honestly considered leaving well enough Aline, as the build im on now, I've had zero issues with... Just knowing there is a fresh build, and i cant have it, is driving me crazy lol Any help I can get to resolve this will be greatly appreciated. Thnx in advance.
What recovery are you trying to install with? If it is an old out dated one, that may be your issue

I've always used the latest Among Ra... I've never had any issues until this last update. Im wondering if its not because of the whole switching of the primary storage thing when coming to kit kat?? Idk lol all my other versions of evervolv still flash fine... Its just this latest build im having issues with.. :/
I would recommend twrp or cwm. Amon ra was more for early JB and ICS

Tried twrp just now... Still no go. Same error. I guess i have to consider the possibility that it really is just a bad download or a bad link idk...? :/ Can anyone confirm that the download is good? I suppose it could be that simple... ?

1/28 Build?
Most current is 5/10.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49363805&postcount=1
@kkozma I was on the 1/28 build. Spent a couple months on my gf's farm away from civilization so I missed.... A few updates lol I was trying to update to the 5/10 build from 1/28 I should have been more specific in that regard... Im not sure really what the issue was, but I flashed TWRP yesterday, to no avail, then went back to Amon Ra today... It flashed fine for me just a couple hours ago after re-flashing Amon Ra... Same download even... Strange. But I do appreciate the input, and the help from you both. Great ROM BTW loving it.
