My wife has an Atrix and I have a GSII. She likes my Samsung keyboard and a couple other apk's that are on in my phone. Can I use those on the Atrix or is there a compatibility problem?
Also, any suggestions on the best keyboard? Her keys seem so small.
From some research, it looks like installing these type system app is a little difficult. Any guigence would be appreciated

Keyboards will definitely have a compatability issue, most others will as well

There are plenty of alternative keyboards on the Market, there's even one that let's you change the keyboard skin and sound to resemble that on the SGS2 or even iPhone. I don't remember exactly which one was it but I think it was Ultra Keyboard, Keyboard Pro or Go Keyboard. Look it up on the Market.
For the other APKs, I'm not sure which apps you are referring to.
Cheers!

Have you seen that input method?
Swype, check it out! They show with HTC's Diamon later in the video:

does anyone knows more about a cab ^^?
---EDIT 1---
here more information:
http://www.swypeinc.com/product.html
------------
Yup, cabs are not yet publicly available, we'll all have to wait. And if this is going out to anyone but OEMs we'll have to wait even longer, right now our hopes are on a demo version or something I guess.
Same discussion here.
oh not seen it...
thank you!
close it! delete it!
try this if you are still looking : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/12/10/swype-input-keyboard-ported-to-all-windows-mobile.html
Or Here

Tried the cab from modaco on Touch HD. Find it kinda sluggish.. not so much the swyping part, but the words appearing pretty slowly.
This could be because XT9 is present too. Didn't see this in the video on Swype website. Don't know how to turn it off. Anyone?
Swype? No thanks!
Swype? No thanks It don't works!!!! I prefer Dasur SlideIT it works perfectly on my Sony Xperia X1 and on the Htc Diamond 2....I think Swype has some kind of problem to get in to work or maybe is not compatible at all.....they make me laugh when they appear with their video copy like Apple-style Brand and try to shock the world with a new invention when on the markey there is already better product. Please Swype- men do a better job next time. Ciao
SLIDEIT
Yes the name is DASUR SLIDEIT, you can even try it for one month then if you like it you buy it...if you don't.....
Any kind soul can help - how to make HTC XT9 predictive word suggestion not appearing when using Swype? This makes Swype sluggish.
I suppose this is because this cab is meant for Omnia, which do not have XT9.
try to find the setting of ezinput...
btw, this function isn't working in the cab file provided.
Statistical Tracking
Keep track of your speed using Swype’s built-in statistical tracking.
just installed the cab couple days ago, it works pretty good on my fone.

eh, Swype works perfectly fine here, but the cabs floating around are English-only. I'm going to have to guess that's not the language you're wanting to use..
I've tried both and in my view Swype is infinitely superior - it even looks slicker. I'm on an HD2 mind you, perhaps the processor and larger screen help.
It's worth noting that the original thread for Swype was closed down at the request of the Swype developers as they were working OEM only. I also saw a thread today suggesting Swype was to be made more widely available...who knows!
meh i don't like this one :/ I just can't write anything on this app

A 2 second check on google for swype cab found it for me!
Swype works way better than I expected, I've been looking for a good sip for one handed operation and I can use this with my index or thumb and its as quick or quicker than my X1 hardware keyboard. This is pretty much the best sip I've ever used easily, only problem is I'm having problems where it switches back to the horrible default windows mobile keyboard very often... might have to try sipchange or something... But very impressed with swype, from the same creator of T9 input, its very versatile easy to correct and add words so it's my sip of choice, I just gotta figure out why it keeps going back to the default keyboard
Main question is if the atrix even has a native japanese keyboard I can install? I've seen some zips for japanese keyboards for other phones like the htc diamond and some other samsung phone, but I'm not sure if they would work on an atrix.
And also, I've got my phone rooted via gingerbreak with the gingerblur 3.1 rom along with the hulu, webtop, and mirroring hacks. If I ever wanted to go back to the stock rom from att how would I go about doing that? And if its alright to remove the battery?
This is my first phone android phone (previously iphone 3g jailbroken) and I've had is less that half a day, so I'm still rather new to all this.
japanese: you can download many japanese input methods from the market. i like "Simeji". it has romaji input or short-key dragging input.
stock: you have to flash your phone back to a stock SBF. search the general forum to find links and instructions.
yes, it is perfectly fine to remove the battery whenever you please.
Are there any that are native to install?
Thanks for all the info! It really helps
bring a "native"app really doesn't make any difference, they all install and function the same.

so swype beta doesnt support the 1024x768 resolution of the hp touchpad. you can hack the installer but then it installs the phone version of swype which is really useless on a tablet. the pantech element, which has the same screen resolution as the touchpad, apparently has swype installed, but i cant find any development on it. not even as much as a root, much less a rom dump. i was hoping to pull it off that device and use it till theres a proper version of swype for the touchpad. does anyone have any info on it?
Perhaps its possible to pull it from the ROM dump but I can't find one.
Another good thing about this device that I just noticed is it has an APQ8060/Adreno 220 just like the Touchpad. It may come in handy as a build.prop device since it has the same hardware and same screen resolution as the Touchpad.
Yeah it needs the snapdragon for lte. It could be a good donor device, if it had any development.
I managed to find a Pantech Element ROM dump and installed Swype along with its lib file. Unfortunately it gives a licensing error message and goes into limited functionality mode where you cant swipe words. It looks great in landscape but doesn't adjust in portrait and gives an error message about screen resolution, even though the Element has the same resolution.
If I'm not mistaken, the newest swype beta supports the tp's resolution just fine. By phone mode, do you mean no TAB key? Cause I can live without a TAB key.
I really like the skin used on the Pantech Element, and also the fact that you can shrink the keyboard down in size which makes swyping faster since you don't have to cover as much area. You can see screenshots of this Swype in action on the Element in this review:
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Pantech-Element-Review_id2961/page/2
I'll try getting the beta working and then seeing if I can somehow get the Element version to work after. I'd post the Element files but we are not allowed to post Swype apks so anybody who wants to try will have to hunt them down for themselves.

Here you find some sometimes ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=530
there was an app that kill wifi for all other devices on the network, and it was abandon from the market ..
There are loads of apps outside of the google store, and well the XS has a few stores of its own built in from sony.
But as for good apps, swype from http://www.swype.com/
Its the keyboard from the Samsung galaxy S series and once you swype you never go back. It takes a little getting used to but it is so much easier / faster / accurate to use!
It was one of the first things I tried on my XS and was so glad that it worked straight off.

Your S has Swype built into the default keyboard.
I didn't notice the default keyboard had support for 'gesture inputs' as they put it as the phone didn't mention it and I don't think I read it in any review either.
I shall give the default keyboard another whirl then and see which one I prefer
This is freaking awesome. I didn't know it was built in by default. I was using the Chinese keyboard and switching it to English.
Thank you guys!

Hi, I searched this forum and didn't find what I wanted.
After using the Asus Keyboard on my 300t, I noticed that the swype like action is only functional under certain conditions. When Browsing, using SuperNote, or Polaris office, it works very well. BUT when I use another apk--- say with a simple AutoCompleteTextView field, I only can hen peck.
Does anyone know how to enable a apk to fully utilize the Asus Keyboard.
I found this annoying too. I've installed Swype (beta) and found it works well, much better than Asus' attempt.

Unfortunately in my case using theTF300T' swype crashes continuously! ANDing to that iiritation' the email support address for the beta of swype bounced, so no support as yet. I still wonder what stops the Asus Keyboard From working on some apps- Does anyone have thoughts on this. ¿

No, I had noticed though and it drove me crazy. Good thing I really only use the dock to type now lol
Really though, no idea. Maybe someone or a dev could pick through the apk's code and offer some insight?

Thus far, I have tried:
AutoCompleteTextView, and
MultiAutoCompleteTextView.
No help.... -- I am guessing that the apk somehow signals to the Asus keyboard, the sort of support it wants. BUT I haven't been able to see any document to that effect, etc. But I will keep looking...
I called tech support at Asus this evening. After a long conversation --- which got me no where, it seems that I will have to wait until someone who has worked more with this Virtual Keyboard, chimes in. I attempted to use hierarchyviewer to look at the widgets in SuperNote for example. BUT since this is not an emulator, I learned that hierarchyviewer is useless with a real device.
I attempted to contact swype once more and I learned a bit more. The latest beta does better, but still have issues. The very latest swype and it now says: display size not supported... But I was able to send a message to the right person, so I am now hopeful that this will be resolved on the 300t.

Hmmm. I know he's sick ATM and everything, but I wonder if we couldn't drop this by Gary and have him move it along the right channels to whoever would be responsible for their exclusive apps? Just seems to me that the feature should work across the board, I don't understand why the one keyboard app should act differently through scenarios (aside from number-only and password fields and such).
I may find the time to take a look at the apk although I'm no programmer lol
If you are rooted, you can install Keyboard Manager from the play store.
That will allow you to automatically switch to the Asus keyboard when you dock and then you should not have as many issues.
I had problems with auto-correct using Swift Key X and the dock. That solved my issues.
Good thought but I don't dock at present. I just hope they fix it!
