Does anyone have this problem? It happens when I touch on the lock screen button, it takes seconds to load!!!
I got a brand new tmobile amaze 4g yesterday. Everything seems normal but the screen always take like 5 seconds before it starts up if left unused for >5 minutes..
however, if it is in continuous use... it doesn't freeze!!
I was thinking maybe I installed too many apps, I restored it to factory and still have the same problem.
Then I thought maybe its the battery, I switched to a brand new, fully charged battery, problem persist.
Is it me or every phone is like that? Will problem be solved if i root my phone?
Please take a second to look at the video.. you will see whats the problem..
I'm new, can't post link... please go to youtube and search for "Htc amaze screen lock freeze"

Hi
I can not find your video on youtube, however, base on your descriptions, I assumed you are neither rooted or unlocked your boot loader and since your phone is a brand new one I strongly suggested you to return the phone and asked for a new replacement since you have a 14 days exchange window. I've never seen or heard a similar problem like yours in the forum
Just in case, may I asked when you said the lock screen button did you meant the power button? Also, when you reset your phone to factory, did you meant no users apps installed whatsoever?
Welcome to the amazing Amaze's and Happy new year
I bought it from ebay and the box was sealed, everything was okay until i realize this problem. Let me see if I can return it..
the lock screen yea i mean the power button.
when i reset to factory, i have no user apps installed.
ahh.. i just checked... bad news
Return policy
No returns or exchanges, but item is covered by eBay Buyer Protection.
and I really appreciated your quick response, happy new year to you too!!!
You have HTC warranty but you can open a dispute saying that the phone is defective. Make a YouTube video of it and put the link in the eBay dispute. First, tell the seller about it. He may allow you to return it. If he does, add a signature confirmation or else he can say he never received it.

Open a dispute with eBay. Take pictures on the phones IMEI and the IMEI on the box to prove it matches. Upload it to photobucket. Record a video showing the issue and say you are very disappointed that the seller does not want to help. The phone is defective and he refuses to help. Put the video on YouTube and put the link for the video in the dispute. After the seller replies to the case, escalate the case to eBay by saying "The seller failed to show interest to help me out. He sent me a defective phone that he claims to be "brand new". Brand new phones do not have issues. I am deeply disappointed that I bought a phone and it does not work the way it is supposed to. The seller didn't want to help me. That being said and done, I would like a full refund. Thank you".
You are almost guaranteed to win the dispute. Just do what I said and you should have your money back in no time!

I had a Blackberry 9900 before it was released. I sold it on eBay for $700. The guy opened a case saying it didn't work and he sent me a beat up 8900. I called eBay, made an incident report with the police, and eBay refunded me my amount. I was so pissed with the guy lol. I use eBay a lot thought. I have 700+ feedback with buying and selling. eBay does help a lot if you know how to talk the right way. As you can tell, I know what to tell them so I can win a dispute.

Hey guys, I ran into quite a predicament today. As I was walking to work, I fell something fall out and slide half way across the parking lot. I felt me phone case (the crappy one that came with the phone), looked down on the ground and noticed it was my AWESOME Sprint Touch Pro. With the site of my phone moving in a hockey-like manner, I finished cursing and decided that I don’t want to have such an amazing phone looking like a piece of crap.
So here is where I am at. I need to get this phone fixed. I think that I might have a few options, but I want to know what you guys think. Originally, I bought this phone from a guy of Craigslist; it was $240, if you can believe it. Now, the phone had never been activated, so it was as if I was the original owner. Additionally, I never got a phone from sprint, but I am under contract. That means, according to sprint, that I am eligible for a new to get a new phone at anytime. Thus, I reach my questions and request for opinions.
Option 1 (least likely): Since the phone was never activated, can I still claim the 30-day phone guarantee from sprint? Meaning, can I return the phone as if it was defective?
Option 2 (What I will probably have to do): Should I buy a phone, get the equipment protection plan, and then process my touch pro as a defective phone. This seems like a relatively good idea, because I can get a phone pretty cheap (like the rant) and sell it on Ebay. So in the end, I make money off of this idea. The only down side is that my contract restarts, but I have only been with sprint for about four months. Also, I was going to save my free phone upgrade for next year so I could get a brand spanking new phone.
Option 3 (Don’t want to do this): Suck it up, and get a silicon case that covers the scratches. The scratches are only around the shiny part on the perimeter of the screen, which, by the way, says a lot about the quality of the screen.
Option 4 (Too much trouble): Sell it on eBay for as much as I can, and since it’s probable less than $300, put the rest out of pocket and buy a brand new touch pro from sprint.
Option 5 (Does it exits?): look for replacement housing. Since the phone is new, I don’t know if it’s even out there yet.
Thanks for all your input guys. I really hope to hear from some Sprint Reps or something. Meanwhile, I am going to try to sucker Sprint into helping me out.
P.S Yes, I know what I am doing is unethical, and that the phone is not really defective, thus I should not be returning it as defective.
I think I am having trouble understanding what happened. You have scratched your touch pro that you bought from someone else, I got that.
You never activated the phone on sprint? You should go ahead and put the phone one your account and get insurance immediately!
If you have only been with Sprint for 4 months how are you eligible for an upgrade?
If it is only chrome scratched my TP came like that. Look at the chrome around the keyboard section. At all 3 corners, excluding the Stylus one check for a "Seam" in the chrome, if it has this you can take it in and exchange at a Sprint store.
A scratched phone on Ebay will go for MUCH less than a regular one.
I am not here to tell you whether you are ethical or not, but you should exhaust all options that seem less unethical first before trying to make someone else pay for your mistake. That being said, I think everyone in the world would try to get a new phone for free, so I wouldn't feel too bad.
The phone is activated on sprint, but the person that sold it to me never activated it. It has been only a few days since I activated, can I still add the TEP? And are they going to charger a deductible, cuz they'll charge me $55 to fix it.
I am eligible for an upgrade cuz I never got a phone from sprint.
So if it has some defects I could take it back, even though I have no TEP? Unfortunately, the phone is flawless other than my stupid scratches.
TBH, I don't fell doing this to sprint. They have screwed me over many times over. This would just even it out.
If it is activated just go ahead and get insurance. You can add it anytime. They will charge deductible normally, but instead of telling them its because of scratches tell them you are experiencing poor battery life and that you can't hear anything in the speaker because it sounds like a tin can.
Oh, you never purchased a phone when you switched. I was confused. Thanks for clarification.
Look for those seams, almost every TP has them and they will switch for free without TEP. They are hard to notice but mine has em and I am going to switch soon.
They have screwed me repeatedly and I would be doing the same thing. Haha, I wasn't trying to preach in my post before.
Is there a grace period to get it? I thought it was like 30 days. Yea, I can lie to them, no problem. Though my bat life is amazing. play with it all day and never has died on me.
Can you direct me to a link to where this seams thingy is being discussed, or where the sources where u got this is at. I want to read some on it. Or maybe some pics, I didn't really know where to look.
Yea, well, they decided to renew my contract, and it said they had returned my deposit...I'm definitely going to use that against them.
To be honest, they have messed up so many times, I have only paid my full bill about 2 times.
I Heard my Sprint Rep. say that the insurance can only be added within the first 30 days.
So here is the rub....How do they know when you purchased it? Unfortunately logic would say that the insurance only applies to devices purchased directly from the carrier, but I hope I am wrong.

Unless they changed the policy, that's not true. I had a phone for 6 months before I added the insurance online through the My Account feature.
But it's possible that has been changed and no longer do able.
Guys Thanks for all your responses, they are very informative.
So Basically here, I am leaning towards trying to see if I can get insurance added. I don't know how hard of a task this will be, but I hope that they can be persuaded into helping me out.
If not, I will just get a cheap phone and sell it.
Again, I am aware of the ethical lines being crossed, but wit sprint, those lines seem almost unreal.
update (Sorry about the double post):
So to my surprise srpint sent this in an email:
Regarding the call from the technical department, I have forwarded your

Thank you again for contacting Sprint. Have a great day!

its 30 days from the day you activate the phone...so you can go to a sprint store or call customer service and add insurance
as a tech in a sprint affiliate store i WOULD NOT swap you out for free because of cosmetic damage. So you are looking at paying 50 through Asurion(the insurance company)

Well, well see. I am going to request a return kit from them, as they said that they would do. If not, then what ever.
BTW, the phone doesn't look like its been dropped or has any cracks. The excuse, "Its been in my pocket with my keys," would fly without a hitch.
We shall see what happens.
Sorry man, haven't been around the Computer. I had insurance on my touch I bought off of ebay. I had ins on my phone before and when I activated the phone it just went ahead and switched it over to my touch. So you should be fine adding it.
You can probably send it to them, but what are they going to give you back? You paid them $0 for the phone, so be careful, that may be what they give you.
Here is the site you requested talking about the chrome seams.

So if I understand your correctly, you bought a phone from Ebay, and added insurance to it?
Sorry about double post. I just added TEP, took it in. Told them about some errors, no lies. Just some stuff that happens with the phone. Of course I know its normal, but they didn't know that. They gave me a brand new TP, and let me keep the old battery.
Has anyone got any experience with claiming warranty through Amazon? I bought my S3 a few months ago and now there is an issue with the screen showing a pink splodge to the right
I assumed it would go through Samsung for replacement, but I asked Amazon first and they have already have a new one on the way to me! I tried to get out of them whether I would need to include the charger, cable and earbuds in the return, but they were a bit sketchy about that. Obviously they said they wanted the phone back, even if it wasn't in the original packaging, but they didn't really give an answer either way about the other bits. I can't find the earbuds that came with the phone, so I hope it won't cause them to charge me when they process the return
I remember having a kindle replaced once and they said outright to keep the charger and cable and just return the device.
Anyone have any experience with getting a warranty replacement from them with a mobile?
Thanks :good:
I wouldn't worry about earbuds, due to hygiene regulations they can be of no use to them whatsoever!
I haven't had a warranty replacement from Amazon. I have a question though. Did you have to pay extra for the warranty?

No, I just went on their support thingy and described my problem with the screen and that I have had it a few months and asked who I need to contact to get it repaired. They said they will replace it and sent me a new one within a few minutes (should get it on Tuesday) and issued me with a courier pick up for the old one. I was surprised as I thought Samsung would do it, but I was checking with them first anyway. It could be due to the fact I used a mastercard to pay for it and that gives you extra warranty and protection with things like this.
My HTC One S (early fall-to-bits black version) from Amazon UK was exchanged after a few weeks in a similar way... complete and new one arrived.
One good reason to use them.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with Amazon before, they always give good service. I was glad when they said they would handle my problem rather than Samsung!

Had to return my Galaxy S because i got caught in heavy rain and wouldn't work and forgot to send earphones and USB cable but they never even asked and gave me a full refund within a day of them getting it.

I did anyway. The new replacement was an all new sealed box.
Yeah, I think this a new sealed boxed one too. I'll send it all back as it came sans the earbuds as they would just chuck 'em anyway.
I bought a "like new" HTC One off of eBay. At first it seemed great and really did look like new.
Unfortunately I've come to realize the speakers are blown. Any audio above 50% volume crackles/buzzes. Sounds HORRIBLE at 90% volume +
Does anyone know if HTC or AT&T will cover their phones under warranty if you're not the original owner? I know with Apple the warranty is tied to the phone, I could buy a iPhone 5 off of eBay today, and if next week it starts acting up I could take it into Apple and they would replace it.
I contacted HTC support and at first of course they said "lets see if its a software problem, reset the phone blah blah" did the factory reset and of course it didn't help. Even when the phone boots up the AT&T jingle is distorted and buzzes. I told them the factory reset didn't fix the problem and the reply I got was something like:
"We are always updating the software to fix bugs. Be on the lookout for updates for your device to see if it fixes your problem."
...so a software update is going to magically repair the hardware of the speakers? Awesome. Anyway, even if they do ask me to send it in for repair do you guys know if it would be covered under warranty since I'm not the original owner?
Or would I be able to walk into AT&T and ask them to repair or replace it? Thanks.
Just call ATT, Tell them the speakers are not working. You have done a hard reset and they still dont work.

I got mine off Ebay as well.. Did they check the s/n, imei, or need a receipt?
I would also like an answer. I bought a used htc one recently and the top speaker is crackling like mad when the volume is about 3/4 the way up.
I know the phone has a one year warranty through htc. Anybody have any luck getting a replacement from htc or at&t?
Does the warranty transfer over to a second owner?
thanks!
Speakers are defective but screen has small crack? Warranty valid?
My phone has the same issue, but it has a very small crack on the screen.
Is the Warranty still valid? Is it true that if the screen is cracked the warranty is invalid?

I literally just got off the phone with att. They did want to do a reset, but I told them I already did that. The lady, asked how I did it. So say you went into backup/restore. And tried restoring that way. She also asked about the water sensor under the phones flash. If there was any red in it. After that it was address verification, and telling me I'm the best part of att. No 15$ fee, no nothing.

Thanks for checking. I've told them
Mine matched as well TMobile Note 8 purchased direct from Samsung US.
Could be an error in the factory where they put the phone in a box for a different Note8. Does the IMEI sticker on the back of the phone match the one on the box or the one in system settings?

Sticker on phone matches box. Must be error. But it'll affect me badly if I need anything from Samsung. They'll think I'm being devious.
Has to be exchanged though there's nothing wrong with it. Pity. This unit giving me this battery life. 5hrs sot with 40% left. Not bad. All on 4g too. New one will give me worse battery life and pink screen lol

It's up to you if you want to keep it, most people throw away their box after getting the phone, so if the only problem is the box, you can just say you threw it away. It's your decision if you want to send your phone back because there was something wrong with a cardboard box. The only problem would be if you're still in the return period and ask for a refund or exchange. In those cases usually they ask for everything back.

As someone who always keeps the box, for potential future sales, i thought most people keep their boxes.
But regarding the return you're right, it's a headache, due to the device lottery. This one's ok. I'd ideally like written acknowledgement they sent me mismatch imei info so I can use that in any warranty claim. Or send me a box with the same imei as is in the software lol. Case closed.
None of the above will be done for be I'm sure lol. I really just want them to know, so I get no bs in the future.
What imei is on the Receipt? That is what matters

As long as your IMEI matches that of the one on your account with the actual device, That box won't matter.
I don't think most people throw away their boxes. It matters if the sticker on the box matches the phone, especially if you are buying from a third party.

Did you manage to get this resolved lawtq?
The same thing (same phone, same mismatch, direct from Samsung UK) has just happened to me. I've also flagged it to the store and am now awaiting their response. I'm assuming they are going to want me to return it but we'll see.
It's definitely a factory issue though. The box was properly sealed and it's pure luck that I thought to check the IMEI.

Ok so an email to Samsung 9 days ago proved pointless.
Just rang them, they've arranged uk mail courier to pick phone up tomorrow for exchange with tracking. I'll get exchange a few days later after they process the return (inconvenient). Can't I go into store and just exchange? No, as I purchased online. Grr
So if anyone wants slow service, email Samsung

I raised the issue by phone on Friday but they then wanted to switch to emails for the subsequent responses. I've just sent off a request for an update and if I don't get one by tomorrow I'll call and get it resolved directly.
The need to send your device back before they'll supply a new one is an inconvenience I could do without though especially as this is a glorious phone. I can't imagine I'll manage to persuade them to do any different for me though.

No point. Samsung still has to be the ones who fix this anyway and never goes to give out your imei. And the pickup didn't happen. Expected from UK mail tbh. They will never be dpd
After enquiring why the pickup didn't happen I was given some made up reason by the Samsung rep. UK mail say the phone was refused pickup. Unreal. I'm just returning, can't give these people my money. Lol
Well, I read about trade in problems but didn't think it would happen to me. I traded in my iPhone 7 Plus at samsung.com for $300 and just got word that it hasn't been accepted because either it won't turn on or I didn't reset the device. I have video evidence of the device turning on to original factory condition, but I do NOT want to deal with this! The worst part about all this is that they received the device over a month ago, and now they're telling me it won't turn on? What did they do with it for the last month?
Anyway, just wanted to rant for a second. In the long run, it isn't a huge deal, but I will absolutely never buy from Samsung again. I may even get rid of my s10 and keep my iPhone 7 that they send back, assuming it is still in the condition I sent it in.
Edit: Samsung has reexamined the phone I sent in and has now approved my trade-in. Glad that's over!
That's ridiculous. Samsung doesn't know how to run a trade in program.

When me and my friend ordered S8 couple of years ago and traded in a device...before long, many users were not happy about this whole trade-in process. Some people's devices were accepted and others didn't. So our first trade-in process took about a month before Samsung sent us an email accepting our phones, we were of course happy. Samsung should normally appraise trade in device within 2 weeks, but when it takes longer, than it isn't fun. This is the only time it took 4 weeks of waiting. After that I bought few S9 devices in 2018, but in different time and all of the trade in phones were accepted within 2 weeks. I believe what happens is that Samsung or the third party company gets overwhelmed with orders/trade in devices. I wonder how long the test procedure lasts...minutes/hours or days. If few minutes, then there should be no error on their part.
Do you remember when after resetting the phone you turned it off or it was still on? I am just curious to find out if battery ran out of power and if it took them a month to look at your trade in, so maybe battery depleted a bit more and needed more time to be plugged in before turning on.

In the video I took before sending in the device, I power it up, let it load to the "choose your language" screen, then power it off. It's a tough situation both for me and Samsung because while I understand they can't accept non working devices, I know it was working when I sent it in over a month ago.
They told me to send them the video I took of the device powering on. We'll see what happens.

You can ask them to re-evaluate the phone again and that may give better results. That is what people were doing when their phones weren't accepted. They called Samsung, asked for a manager(if things didn't get resolved properly), explained the situation, gave pictures/videos and then managers/staff would try to do an appraisal again. Hope it works out for you. Yesterday I ordered S10e and picked iPhone 7 as a trade in device myself
Since Samsung never sees these phones during the inspection process you have to wonder what employee skill level Ingram Micro uses to inspect these phones. LOL, for all we know they're using part-time high school kids. Of course it's Ingram Micro in the US, but I'd imagine they use a contractor in other countries also.

Samsung is probably sending/selling trade-ins to some third party company that they have a contract with. I hope Samsung does understand that they don't need any more scandal after the Note 7 issues + in 2017 similar trade in issues that way too many users had.

Yes, thank you. I called Samsung support and was encouraged to send an email with my video attached. I did so and told them in detail exactly what had happened--how I had sent in a working, factory-reset phone but had received an email saying that my phone wouldn't power on and was not factory reset.
Customer support promptly emailed me back saying, it says here that your phone was rejected because it won't power on and was not factory reset.
I emailed back saying, "Did you even read my email? You just told me exactly what I told you." And I explained my issue again.
They emailed me back saying they would check the phone again, and that they would not charge me in the meantime.
Edit: I edited this post to say that Samsung is not charging me while they recheck my iPhone. I initially thought they were do to some confusing wording in their email.
Now I'm waiting for them to check the phone again. We shall see.
Bummer, keep the pressure on lost Samsung support

I recently purchased S10e and picked to trade in my iPhone 7. I already got the phone and on Monday my trade-in will be mailed.

This is crazy, I have traded in my S7, S8 and S9 and have never had an issue but I did start taking pictures of the phone powered up just in case this happens to me.
I sincerely hope that they refund your money promptly and we should all send in complaints if they don't.
I am seriously considering going with the next Pixel due to this issue (and the slow updates)...of course Google has it's service issues too.
You would think Samsung would treat repeat customers better?
Keep us updated, please.
Good luck...

I just checked the email again, and it actually looks like they are not charging me yet, at least until they get the chance to recheck my iPhone. I misunderstood the email; the wording was very strange because it was written by somebody who doesn't speak English as their first language. I don't mean that disparagingly--it just had some really strange wording.
Samsung support is one of the worse support I ever seen.
I had issues buying my S10e online and no one could solve or tell me why my order were being canceled if all my information and credit cards were correct. Was a real pain. I just didn't gave up because I refuse to use apple Iphone and I'd like to keep using Samsung Pay. I tried support over phone, chat and email. Their support just keep talking the same scripts and looks they don't read your email, chat or pay attention or listen/understand to what you talk. English isn't my first language and I don't feel comfortable to criticize any other no english speaker and I don't expect perfection neither. However their accent are extremely difficult to understand and sometimes we can feel they didn't understand you completely. It looks like you're talking with robots. And if you insist to talk with a manager or high level support they keep you waiting on the telephone giving you the excuse the manager is busy helping other clients until you give up. I waited more than 30 min trying to talk with one.
Terrible support. Definitely a shame. Hope some high employee could see those bad review popping up here and there and take serious steps to attend their clients better...
I'm happy to report that Samsung reexamined my iPhone and has now accepted my trade-in. While it wasn't the smoothest process, at least it ended well.

Good deal, it most likely was finally examined by someone from Samsung and not some part-time contract worker.

Nice, happy for you!
By the way, yesterday I did receive email from Samsung about my recent trade in as well, which was accepted successfully. This will be my 4th phone that I have traded in within 3 years
Good to see that they have at least a return option. They didn't before.

I trade in my s8 recently, I flashed the most recent firmware before sending and removed twrp, root and sent it to them, a week later the email me that it was accepted but a few hours later they sent me another email saying there was a problem: "software corrupted knox1". They asked me to pay £100 in excess for the repair

But that's fair because you rooted the device.
