Open superuser, check in settings, there's an option to full unroot your device, next step would be to restore stock recovery, how? I dunno, we don't currently have an image, but you can look in the OTA file for your device.

By performing stock ruu u get the bootloader and stock recovery back thenu can simply flash the stock rom u have backed up before rooting u r done super user will also be removed!
Next step will be to write the CID which is same as changing it but u should know ur default code after this get S-on(not necessary)
If u r on ICS use hasson's AIO toolkit and select mainver fix option that's how it would let downgrade the hboot and ruu(rom)
Lucky for me I have the only version of the Note 2 with a locked Bootloader from "BigRed". i came here to ask for assistance because I want to use my device to its full potential but I definately do not want to brick my device or harm it in anyway.
What I am confused about is the whole process of unlocking the boot loader and rooting. I have read extensively on how to do both but I don't know what process I need to do first. Do I root first and then unlock the boot loader?? Or Vice Versa??
I am also skeptical about some of the Boot loader Unlock methods I see floating around online. I have read up on a couple different ways to do it but when reading the comments under the tutorial article it seems there are alot of unhappy Note 2 owners that were not successful with the methods What I am asking here is if someone can point me to the CORRECT way to unlock the boot loader with the most up to date information regarding the latest update Verizon has put out. If I can be pointed to a good article on the correct way to root the device that would be even better.
I obviously know there is no "fail safe" way of going about doing this and completely understand all the risks. I just want to minimize those risks. Especially on a $600+ device!
Thank you for any help that is offered!!
A little tip for you. I've found is best to just stick strictly to xda for guides like this. Most those random guides steal the work of the hard working devs here. I've seen a lot of bricks of people just following one if them.
Here is the only way to unlock. It's easier then it looks.

^ what he said :good:
i used that method literally 2 days ago. it's really simple. just click and follow instructions. just follow the guide and you can even watch the youtube video of someone doing it before you do. once you have the bootloader unlocked and twrp flashed (one you finish the guide you will have twrp installed) you can hold the power volume up and home button while the device is off to boot into recovery (twrp). from there before you do anything i would recommend flashing the latest twrp and then you can go ahead and flash whatever roms you want. probably gunna want to stick with clean rom. it's basically stock rom with all the scum removed and a lot of root tools added.
Can I piggyback here?
My similar question is that when I got my phone 2 weeks ago the Verizon salesperson did THE UPDATE when he setup my phone. My system says I have 4.1.1 but otherwise I have not done a thing to it. Do you need to know the kernal version?... Which steps do I use to unlock and root to Cleanmod? Thanks.

you'll want to unlock with the jailbreak method, very good instructions, there's even a video to walk u thru it.

use the method linked above! It works for both firmware versions that are currently available.
also very easy given that you follow the instructions
As others have said, follow the directions. Go slowly, measure twice and cut once. Then you can start feeding the ROM flashing addiction.
How difficult is it to gain root access on the HTC One? I have had my One for a while, and now I want to gain root access. I don't care about installing a custom rom, right now. But I would like root so that I can run a few apps that I have seen, but they require root.
I read somewhere that HTC will unlock the bootloader for you. Does that unlocking of the boot loader, give me root, or are there more steps in the process?

I'm Not here to bash or make you mad.... but your question is very bland .... and asking about the most covered topic possibly covered on any forum, and there's tons of threads and info on how to root m7.
Id at least first read some.... and then if u can't figure it out come back with ?'s
Your just gonna get flamed asking such a thing , and probably why noone has replied. And they say here in xda that if u don't try .....know how ...or havent the first clue about root ,you probably shouldn't be rooting .
Tip. Use hasoons2000 all in one tool kit to root
It's step by step script that unlocks and roots device with minimal effort from the person behind the computer.

Look for the All in one tool. You have to flash a custom recovery to get root. That means no more OTA updates.
And yes, this has been extensively covered in the forums. But I know it is a bit hard to search for noobs.

Same here. I used the Hassoon tool on my Amaze. I should think both threads are pretty good in this circumstance.
I'm new to rooting and the whole android scene. Just bought my s4 a month ago and rooted it this week. I've been trying to customize themes and icons and I know I need to deodex the files on my phone. I downloaded universal deodexer and dropped the files where I needed to but the program wouldn't run. My question is, is there any other way to deodex the files and how exactly do I locate them? Maybe I didn't locate the right ones.
First off, its pretty cool that you are actually trying to learn what you are doing. The initial learning curve is pretty big but you will get the hang of it piece by piece. I can't speak for everyone but I as still learning and started with the Droid years ago. Take a look at this post for some useful info. Credit to Obsidian for the definitions and links. Just take note that some of his definition do not apply to this phone since it was created for the Bionic, but most of the info is helpful and universal.

Now, to answer your question. Honestly I would flash a pre-deodexed rom and use it to modify things. A few are in the Samsung Development section that are basically TouchWiz minus the bloat. You may even find one there that suits you perfectly with no extra modding.

check out the youtube channel of DroidModd3rX... find his video titled "Verizon Galaxy S4 How To Unbrick, Unroot, Return to Factory Set"... even if you don't have a Verizon GS4 this will help you if you bricked your device. If you have a different Carrier than verizon then check out "wwjoshdew" channel on youtube........ check out his video titled "How To Unroot and Flash your Galaxy S4 to Stock Android 4.2.2"..... I'm sorry i didn't find you earlier.:crying: ........ this might help you to not pay where you "voided your warranty... please please please do this if you can get your phone back from the company. It will re-warranty your device.
It's ok, I found that video on you tube, and a couple others. I tried all their methods for I bricking, but to no avail. Now all it says is "firmware upgrade error. Please continue in Kies". But it won't let me do anything else.

Even ODIN?
Yea i tried Odin, 3.07 and I tried three different stock images and none of them worked. It got to a part during the process that said "Auth (fail)" and then it would close out the program. I just got my replacement yesterday but I'm kind of afraid to root it again lol.
Although I would really like to root it again, since half of the stuff I used it for had nothing to do with what caused the problem in the first place. I was just really excited to download and install a custom room that didn't lag as much as this nonsense from Samsung.

Your original problem sounded like you were trying to flash the mdk firmware on a me7 firmware which would cause auth fail in odin.
But I couldnt find any info above. If you did the the me7 root method you wont have write permissions because boot loader is locked. which would brick your phone when you flash a rom.
Is the me7 root method the one that roots through the micro SD? Is there a way to do so and unlock the bootloader currently or has one not been released yet for the newest Verizon update?

if you did it through terminal then yes. you are on me7 which is why odin gave you problems. currently there is no way to unlock the bootloader. only the firmware previous to me7 can unlock it. So you might be stuck for a while.
Well that's kind of a drag. Installing custom ROMs is the only thing that an unlocked bootloader does? Or is there another reason to root the phone now instead of waiting for a root that unlocks it? Sorry for all of the questions...

did you update to the new update that the phone was bugging you about when you first got your phone? if yes, then, YOU CANNOT FLASH ANYTHING! OR IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE. if you haven't, then, thank the good Lord that you didn't fall into the samsung trap. you can check on Settings/mydevice/about_phone/Build_Number.... i believe the last frace would say me7... if then, you're kinda screwed for now... if you have something else than youre ok:good:... If you're verizon you WANT TO HAVE "MDK" as your last 3 characters on your build number. MDK= ......Good luck!

root still lets you uninstall or freeze that bloatware on your phone. Only thing I used iy for anyways. have about an extra 400mb of ram freed.
Well that is good to know in case I decide to go through with rooting again. Is there a way to uninstall that update? Or am I stuck waiting for a new method to root the phone that allows flashing? I might root again just to have some of the apps like gmd gesture and greenify.

no you cant do anything right now besides the root. cant uninstall because the bootloader is locked.
some rooted apps are nice to have. just gonna have to wait patiently
In that case, are there any apps you would suggest getting that won't destroy my phone again? I checked online for a list of must-have apps but half of them were directed at people who were experienced with rooting.

I would just get titanium backup for now. and remove some bloatware a safelist can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314265 would not experiment with deleting random things it could cause brick problems nothing much else. if you are not comfortablr with that just try and wait for bootloader to be unlocked which has no eta
I may just do that. If I were to root again on me7 since there's no unlock method, if one were to be released would I be screwed or is there normally a way to do that at a different time than the root?

Just follow the vid (relevant from 1:52, but you should also see the download mode guide earlier) in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3#root
Its not as hard as you might think, and only takes about 5 mins (with shaky hands)

No more than you are right now- just stay away from unknown apps, or those available from questioned sources (most malicious threats are disguised as known apps), and use only mods/frameworks from known developers here in XDA...
A words of advice- make sure you recognize the apps you let them root access (cf-Auto root includes SuperSU- an app which acts as 'firewall' between aps and root access- so make sure to update it when needed), and second-
ALWAYS READ THE APP'S PERMISSIONS REQUEST BEFORE INSTALLING
