ICS + Voodoo Sound on SGS2 ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just moved from the SGS to the SGS2 today... Since I was using an unofficial ICS ROM on my SGS for some time now, I decided to go ahead and flash the official KP8 (Android 4.0.3) firmware on the new phone. I'm wondering since I have just about everything as I want it now, the only thing I'm missing is Voodoo Sound. So is there a custom kernel I can flash on this firmware to get me Voodoo? Thanks guys!
-Prasad.

Supercurio is an audiophile and won't develop on phones with crappy sound.

That thanks was accidental, woops.
The KP8 ROM is hardly official, it's a leaked release. As far as I know there are still a few things missing or not working in it. I also doubt there are any working custom ROMs for it as the sources aren't released yet (as far as I know).
On another note there is no Voodoo Sound on the SGS2, just Voodoo LOUDER which just gives the phone up to 6db boost to anything using the 3.5mm jack

Yup, that's why he's released the Voodoo LOUDER app without any sort of development, right?

I'm hardly looking for a custom ROM. When chainfire offers root through his CF-Root kernels, I'm simply asking if there's a kernel as basic as possible (just as CF-Root) but with the addition of Voodoo Sound for this 'leaked' firmware.. ?

There's also Voodoo Screen Tuning.

Weird... okay, why would you guys say that? I believe curio initially developed his VS on the SGS? How does the SGS2 audio device compare?

As I recall, Supercurio only wants to develop with good hardware, so apparantly the SGS has a better sound chip than SGS2.
Take a look at his article.

ZOMFG that's depressing... And thanks for the info, guys. MUCH appreciated!! :/

No problem I myself don't believe the sound is that crappy though, so you just might try it out for your own

I just did. And it seems like a nice time to get a stroke.... Really can't believe I'm gonna miss Voodoo Sound, and that too, this much... SGS sound was fnckin' unbeatable with it!
P.S.> Does Voodoo LOUDER really help any?

[Q] Most stable sense rom?

Hey everyone. Just a quick question. I'm looking to update my girlfriend's phone from evil eris 3.0, and I'm hoping you can recommend the best performing, most stable rom/ kernel combination that includes the sense ui. Thanks in advance.

None of them are very supported right now what with GB and Froyo being the flavors most sought after, but you can't go wrong with Tenzo's xtrRCmix or zach's xtrSense, either one is easily stable enough to be used as a daily from now till Armageddon, well either that or until someone actually finds a way to make a stable Sense 2.2 ROM.
I use xtrSENSE, and I put it on my girlfriend's phone as well. I love it. She loves it. It's very fast, and very stable. You wont be disappointed.
Awesome. Thanks guys!
Will i need to flash a kernel as well?

Nope, everything you need is in the Rom. It's got a few interesting extra bits included, configures memory more efficiently, has scripts to remove crap like the peep and stocks apps, and over- and underclocks by default to 710/245 Mhz.
Really very nice and complete.

You don't have too, but I promise you that you will have better battery life with Conap's V9 and it will more than likely run smoother as well.

Safe Kernal with Voodoo Sound v4

I killed my first Vibrant by flashing DOW's kernal. See thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957615
So I just bought another Vibrant off ebay but I don't want it to die again. Is there a kernal that's proven to be safe that also includes Voodoo sound?

I have had zero issues with overstock and categorically worthless. Keep in mind, they are not OC kernels. For OC with voodoo sound, try Dragon, though I did experience occational sleep of death issues but no bricks. I got rid of DoW in a hurry once I read about currupt SDs.
NO need to OC... try OverStock. Amazing.
What's overstock??

^ Check the development section. It should be on the first page.
Basically stock kernel with a ton added to it.

Thanks, just flashed OverStock. Seems great.
Best kernel out there now and for a long time...no need for OC ever.
Wow, you are rich man. Send me yr old vibrant. She s still live...lol.
Anyway, agree with s15274n, the most safe kernel is overstock for now. No sad.

[Q] What is the best Voodoo Kernel to go with ED01

I have stock ED01 on my Fascinate. I want to get a Voodoo kernel back on the phone to negate the lag. Not sure which Kernel would be the best one to get because I am a n00b
I to want to know what voodoo kernel to use someone please answer
I'm pretty sure any of the froyo kernels would be fine. Personally, I'm using nemesis' kernel since it has the most customization and it works fine.

Using jts kernel because of personal preference. Other ones are heavily modded. Namely undervolted a lot.

I use Nutty Kernel. Im a ultra heavy user and still get 14hrs + 32%. For moderate use, I think I can go for 3 days.
You've just been Fascinated
I have had some AMAZING success with OTB-Reloaded; definitely try it out.

Cool I just flashed this rom. I like everything except the black everthing theme. Not a big fan but for now that stuff takes a back seat to working fast phone with good battery life.
So far this ROM is very fast. I am liking that. No showstoppers for me. No major bugs although I did have one lockup/reboot when I first opened the camera. Might need to pull the battery, because I haven't done that since before I flashed this ROM/Kernel.
Very nice overall.
I just flashed the new rom and I gotta say I love it....except for one thing. I can't seem to get any sound to work with the startup. I have the poweron.wav file in the right spot... i think... but still no sound. Can anyone confirm if the community rom allows startup sound?

Thanks a lot for this times. Very thorough work.
Would you suggest starting on High Leakage first?

Try all three. See which one works best with your phone.
Though, High leakage is probably the safest to start, but still could be unadapted to your device.
Works with mtd roms?

Awesome thanks. I'll flash now. Besides overclocking to 1.7 ghz (something I will not do) what advantages does this kernel offer over nemisis2all's OTB kernel?
First off lemme say the color change at low backlight setting is BEAUITUFL.

Yes now I see that! The color is great.
My gosh this kernel is absolutely brilliant. My phone is flying and has SO MUCH memory.
I highly recommend running the Kernel Cleaner before flashing.
Downloaded all three and testing each one. I thought my phone was smooth before, this takes it to another level. I like the color screen change in the Voodoo Control App. From what I can tell so far, this kernel is phenomenal.
If the phone froze immediately when I set the max CPU to 1400 on LL, it's probably not right for me, right?

Awsome glitch. You are fantastic. I love the boot screen that you've integrated into this kernel as well as the blue CWM.
Bravo to you.

careful with trying too low voltage because we don't have the three button cwm so if you can't even boot, you are screwed and have to flash CM7 again.

It's for MTD.
Yes guys. Please try High Leakage first. Most of us will have to use that as our primary kernel so don't get too greedy.
Can't download from xda app. The links appear to be inside quoted text and therefore are not followable
Also, how is audio volume with this kernel? I'm curious if it will do anything to help the known audio issues with cm7..

voodoo sound for s3 - anyone know what the progress is on it?

Hi!
Does anyone know whats happening with voodoo sound for the s3?
I cant seem to find any information anywhere on updates with the project :-s or maybe i am just not looking in the right places lol
cheers
Use siyah kernel, has great sound, plus no overhead of running voodoo app, unless your a mega audiophile, this should do you nicely
Sent via TCP/IP
Use Siyan kernel v1.3.7 beta 2 and download and install voodoo control plus 2.1.1
try it out this combo works, you can get a partial port of voodoo sound
as said install siyah and configure the sound using stweaks... you will never ask about voodoosound then
supercurio is working in Display Expert first. Only then, he will be back to finish Voodoo Sound.
does siyah kernel solve the problem of weak audio recording in videos as well? voodoo sound solved that pretty nicely on my s1 =/

No, voodoo sound will actually fix that according to supercurio.

nah don't bother waiting.
Wait but dont expect...
I hope that supercurio will release display expert for our devices, maybe he read this threads and he will see that we are missing his great job that he did with galaxy s. The only thing that i hate on this phone is the brightness of the display, i'm sure that he can fix that. The sound is good for me with some tweaks that we have here.

This work can't be done in a day. He's working on it, we just have to wait. And remember, he's not our employee.
Lets keep things on topic and polite now.
Don't forget that XDA is an international community and that what might be a joke to some, might be offensive to others
Some of these comments that I saw no dev really deserves it's kind of sad really. Supercurio I'm looking forward to your hard work.
