guess Ill have to hope for the best when I return it to TMO

Remember, it is more likely than not that HTC keeps a record of all the phones they've provided unlock codes for. Further, it is more likely than not that they provide the list to Tmobile and other providers on request.
However, if it were possible to lock the bootloader, and despite the above tattling by HTC, your provider cannot prove that you used the unlock key you were given.

why are you returning your phone?

warrenty exchange

Depends what you return it for.

[Q] Relock bootloader (or at least hide text) ?

Does this method actually work for the Atrix4G (AT&T), can it be confirmed by anyone in here?
If you have an unlocked bootloader and use a Monster SBF will it only remove the UNLOCKED text from the POST, or does it actually fastboot oem lock ?

No way to relock after unlocking the bootloader. It's a hardware lock/unlock, not software.
It may be spotted at AT&T store or service center. If they turn the phone on the first thing they will see is "unlocked" in the upper left corner. Per what it says when you unlock your phone, this "MAY" void your warranty. Don't listen to advice saying they won't care at the service center. The one where I live does everything they can to get your phone back working before replacing it. Been there a couple of times.
You can remove the "unlocked" in the boot screen by flashing back to 4.1.26, 4.1.57, etc., but the phone is still unlocked, it just won't say unlocked anymore unless you reflash the unlock, after which it will be on the boot screen again.
I would say if you are returning it, don't unlock the bootloader.

I think this is clear that HTC will not let us have S-OFF unless its from a developer

Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.
If you should require support, please feel free to contact us via the support section of our website, http://www.htc.com

That'a actually another reason why I don't want to rush to obtain s-off because even if we get it we may lose it with the OTA. Would be our luck. We know that HTC read these so what's to stop them from being like "Huh. This Binary100100 bastard figured out how to get around s-on. Let's patch that with ICS! That'll show them!"

No, and most likely never will because it invalidates the very reason S-on is enabled. We've (the community) always developed a way to bypass the signature as far back as I can remember, but they've figured out a way to make it more difficult to accomplish with the Amaze.
I think if we make enough noise, perhaps they'll create a tool that allows overwriting the signature. My optimism always gets the best of me!

I believe its the lack of developers for the amaze, the rezound is newer than our phone and I believe they have achieved S-off, It's hard to say because that phone is a CDMA phone, but never the less if they have figured out a way to make it more difficult it should be for all the new HTC phones, which doesn't seem to be the case.

[Q] needed help to unlocked i717

hi i bought locked in calgary galaxy note i717 (already have cynogenmod version 10.0.0-RC0-quincyatt & paranoid android version 2.21)
how can i find carrier of my i717
I don't understand your question. Are you asking what carrier the phone is locked to? Model number under battery will tell you that? Are you asking how to unlock phone for any carrier? I believe with Canadian Notes it is better to use a third party unlocking service (like from ebay) to get the phone unlocked if it already isn't. But on the other hand I think some Canadian Notes come unlocked from factory. If the phone is unlocked, maybe you just need to enter the APN for your carrier.
For future reference, questions should be posted in the questions and answers section.
OP yes please explain your question and this has been moved to the Q&A. Thank You
Go to www.samfirmware.com and you can find the stock carrier rom. You can flash it with Odin software and a pc and the charging cable.
When you flash it your phone won't be rooted anymore.

Well Sir, your jokes or comments are not helping....there is a right way and wrong way to provide assistance and your way is not right.
If it bothers you so much that individuals are asking and looking for assistance, then stay out of the Q&A threads. Now I do not mind showing members assistance but bottom line they have to figure it out them self's. Teach them, not bash them.
Again if I see you bashing instead of providing, Stand By Sir. Thank You

the phone which i bought was locked to roger. i flash last night with stock rom
now i have 2 question
a how to carrier unlock galaxy note i717r

You have to get an unlock code. That is something you purchase from ebay.
The Rogers rom is ok, but you have to flash a modem. Any modem compatable with t-mobile will work for you.

You're right beaups, let me break it down:
-From the CID.apk method, I got the "VZW_001" in abd fastboot oem readcid, which I heard is a no go.
-At HTCDev I got the error code #160 message (MID Not allowed) when I pasted the token ID (from start to end, excluding the word INFO) that I obtained from fastboot oem get_ identifier_token.
-RUU.exe stated not to be able to update my device to 1.15xxx from 2.4.605.2
I don't know what else to do. I cannot retire my Droid 4 just yet because of that. Your help would be very appreciated.

As this is my first post I beg of you to take it a little easy on me. I am currently on the new OTA and have had the DNA for 5 days. I realize the lockdown on this phone is particularly harsh with this update so I am curious if I can return the phone to Verizon for a non-updated new one but I will need some type of ammo to go in there with to really get them to exchange it. The only problem I have had so far is that my financial pages for paying bills (Verizon included) and my expense reporting will not load. Perhaps this is a java error that the OTA may have caused and I am sure Verizon wants their money so that will be a way to win.
Are there any major issues with the current OTA I can add to my complaint list to get my hands on another one?
And yes, it is very rude to ask a dev if they are coming close to a solution but I am curious if it will be all for naught and the workaround is on the horizon or in the near future. I'm sure it's on many new owners' minds and they are scared to ask so let the noob bashing begin on me. I can take the abuse.
Knowing my luck I will come home from the store and blammo beaups and jcase have cracked it.
Update : Called Verizon, made claim, got a new in box sealed DNA, brought it home and went to work on it!
Proud owner now of a rooted, unlocked, s-off, rom and custom kernel running, new OTA radio, future updates from Verizon ota's blocked, bad boy of a DNA!

[Q] How close are we to unlocking the boot loader?

Did you bother to do even a little bit of reading before you posted this "question?" This thread, right on this very page, will give you the flavor of the challenges people are facing when trying to work around the bootloader, much less unlock it.
There's a point of etiquette you may not be familiar with: don't ever ask a developer how long something will take. None of the people working on cracking this code are doing so for a living, and they may - may - get beer money out of it. In the case of cracking the bootloader, the guys working on the project are trying to keep their findings close to their vests. They don't want Samsung or Verizon to slam the door on them before they can test their theories and deploy the unlock.
If we are going to get an unlock or workaround, it will happen when it happens. In the meantime, there are some very nice Safestrap ROMs out there. Give one a try.
Almost seems that way huh. Any tiny bit of searching and you'd think someone who created an XDA account would have known better. Idk maybe I'm wrong
