I'm in need of help so I thought I'd come to you guys for wisdom.
I have a stock amaze not rooted nor unlocked and I made a mistake. I applied a skin that I found on the market but I ended up not liking it at all so instead of changing the skin to the default one FIRST before deleting the app, I first uninstalled it and then when I tried changing the skin the a different one it just force closes every time I want to go to the skin picker.
Any ideas on how to change my skin now ?

install the program back, undo what you wanted to do, then uninstall it

Thank you for your response.
Although that's not going to work cause if I could install the same skin again, it would mean that I can access the skin picker which is what I CANNOT do because it just force closes.

That's exactly what I was afraid of
I just finished setting up all my contacts and all my apps so I wanted to avoid that at all costs. I'll wait a day or two to see if anyone else have another suggestion. Thanks both of you guys though.
If you saved your contacts to google then they will come back after a factory reset, the apps you've downloaded should also come back once you log into market again, although your settings in those apps won't such as your log in info.
The only other thing I can think of is clearing data from rosie/sense I dunno if you can normally do it, since I'm on a different rom without Sense, but maybe that'll help

I'm sorry for sounding confusing.
But it's Only the skin picker.
When I go to my homescreens, then tap on personalize, then tap on skin that's when I get a pop up saying:
"the application skin picker (process com.htc.skinpicker) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again"
That's why I'm saying that it won't let me change skins because I made the mistake of deleting the apk of the skin that was currently in use instead of changing the skin back to default FIRST to avoid this problem.
Why don't you re-install the theme and re-start the phone? Doesn't hurt to try right ?

then just go to the rom zip file you downloaded go where it says system - app - grap the skinpicker apk and paste it into ur system app. then jsut restart the phone and the problem will be fixed.
thats sounds like a glitch...please tell me you HAVE restarted the phone yes?
you shoudl try that before anything else!
Pull out the battery if ya gots.
Other option to try real quick:
find another skin install it and see if it over writes your hiccup.
then see if you can revert to stock skin then delete aforementioned skins.

I would just like to apologize to those people that suggested to just install back the same skin and then undo the changes because that actually worked!! Thank you so much. I think I haven't had enough sleep or something cause I wasn't doing it right but just now I installed the same skin, rebooted, and I was able to change skins again.

glad you fixed it. and just to make something clear cuz i thing there is some misunderstanding, the app u deleted is not just a skin a random skin, is the app responsible for all skin selection, so it wasnt a point of whether to install back the skin or not, that app is the one that is responsible for the proper functioning of skins

hello...I'm a noob thatd had my he2 now for some months...I've figured out a lot of thingz like installing cabs and what not...but then came cht 2.O and how you can change the theme of it phone...even with a stock ROM you can change it theme...now my problem is that once i download the cab or zip file...i must not neo utting it in the right place or extracting it right.can someone please help me out and explain this to me.i mean even the most knowledgeable people were a noob like me at one point. i have used google bit no help, and can't find it in here.thanks for your time.

thanks for trying to help...but that is for some1 who pretty much knows all about cht...that just said make a wallpaper file...what then i out the theme cab/zip in that file and just using chts will make it change...?

Im not sure if your talking about a ready made CHTS layout/theme or just a normal theme that you want to save and use with CHTS.
Which theme are you talking about? Knowing that will help solve your problem.
What you might need to do is set everything up and then save it as a layout in CHTS.
If you can link me to the stuff your trying to use that will help too
i REALLY appreciate you taking ye time to help me...i will look for the post I'm talking about...its a theme/skin that dinik made where the clock and quicklinks all look like glass...i might not even be using the right wording...lol...doubt it though...give me a little and ill put the link up...

ok, you either mean diniks "anastasia" theme or djc's "touch of glass" theme.....
neither of these are directly available to use with chts straight away.
what you need to do is install the various elements of the theme to your device then when you have it set up how you like it, save it with chts.
that way even if you flash a new rom or do a hard reset then you can restore that theme in a few seconds....
search the themes and apps section for whichever theme you prefer and start from there.

thankyou but what i mean is that i don't know how to get it to work...once i download thatd say...touch of glass...where exectly do i put it on my as card...and and when i extract it all the files that come up don't do anything...I'm used to cabs that do everything for you...lol...
i have cht 2.0...and when i download touch of glass...the look of my phone doesn't change...am i putting touch of glass in the wrong file...main qeustion is what to do after i download touch of glass to make it working on my hd2...

really....i thought most cabs you can run from it ad...i have CHT 2.O...and i found a dinik glass cab for CHT 1.8.5...kind of works except my icons don't look fully right...here's my screen...any suggestions...?
p.s. i did run an anastaisa icon cab...nothing really changed...
yes some do and some don't especially touch glass cabs...need install to device !...why some even have problems with chtscheduler on sd card and have to install it to device (i have no probs on sd card with chts)
as for diniks icons for cht2.0 are available, but a little different (valeria style). you can change all to total dinik valeria icon set for matching

i dont trust using a cab to install icons.
search out jwmd icon changer and use that, once you have changed the icons you can save them as a theme and switch between sets quickly.
You also need to clear the sense icon cached to make some icons change.
I forgt how to do this manually because jwmd has it built in as a feature.....
and yes, all mods MUST be installed to device memory not sd card.......

i have both of them...but i really can't figure out jwmd...and i used ssic...its just that all the icons don't have that glass looking template...really possessions me off...lol...but i also have a lot of stuff saved to ad card...and when i tries to uninstall dinik theme it says that it can't be fully removed...and i really don't want to hard reset again...takes for ever to get back...
run the cab again and it will ask if you wish to remove the previous install, say yes then when it asks about device memory or sd card hit cancel and it should be uninstalled....
if not just find the files on your sd card and delete them....

Go to settings, privacy, and un-check the box for show message text in the lockscreen section. Once you open privacy in settings it's pretty easy to figure out.

Hmm I don't know about BAMF I'm on Gingeritis VIII. I though that setting was always there tho even on stock. May have to ask in the BAMF thread or maybe someone else will come along. Sorry.

I have the same problem. How the hell do I disable text on lockscreen?
Might not be the perfect solution, but you could always try GO SMS Pro. That app has tons of different options for notifications. Hope it helps.

Okay, So I've been trying everything I can think of, have done alot of reading. Really could use some help here guys. If anyone can give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it.
I DLed the Google Voice from the Market, put on my computer, unzipped it with 7zip.
Took the res folder (drawable-hdpi), and replaced all the .png files with updated green/black themed ones from that above post.
This is where I get lost. I try to rezip the package, tried it with every kind of compression.
Everytime I go to install it on my phone, it tells me.....
Parse error
There is a problem parsing the package.
Anyone got some pointers?
OK buddy, 1st off, I am assuming by dark voice, you mean black background with white text. If that assumption is true, theres a lot more work to be done than editing images.
However, if you are in fact just trying to change images and are familiar with 7zip, the process is pretty easy. Especially since you already edited your images.
Lets do it this way, since your progression will yield the right results...
grab your completely stock voice that you have.. open it (NOT UNZIP) it with 7zip... find your way to the proper folder(s) and move your edited images into.. yes, while still zipped. Once thats done, close 7zip. it will ask you about updating the archive.. say yes... you're done.
And if you are in fact looking for the black backgrounds with white text.. grab my BNB theme and pull the Voice out if it. Its inverted.

Yeah, Dark themed Google Voice, like in the 1st post. The green one.
I havent thought about the TXT color... crap im not going to be able to read it after i update the PNGs......
One of your themes has a themed Google Voice? I might have to try that.....

K, So I ended up pulling your Voice.apk from the BnB theme (which looks awesome btw... dunno how I missed that one)
I like it, but its just black and white. So I opened it with 7zip, go to res/drawable-hdpi and replace the file "widget_inbox_background.9.png"
That is the background for the widget.... only thing I care about..
I let it update the archive and save.
Copy the apk to my SD card and attempt to install it.
Everything looks great it appears to be installing then it gets to the end and says "Application not installed" done
I cannot get past this part..... am i doing something wrong?

Really? wow that would rock. I'm just starting to learn this stuff. I've done so much reading and feel like i've came so far. but I'm finding out how much a pain in the arse these .9png files are....
The theme I'm looking for is the Dark greyish/ green one. Its in my first post of this thread. There is a screen shot here

I like those colors.... not a fan of the font but i dont really care. I've tried everything. I found that .9png background widget image but I cannot insert it into your BnB theme
I would love if you could insert it if its not a big deal, you make it sound easy. I'm going on about 4 days of reading and about 10 different programs..... I must be missing something.....

Well..... All I use is the widget and the inbox....You click the widget it takes you to your inbox for your voicemail.......
The pic you posted was of FaceBook....
I basically like it the way you themed it but with darkgray/green like the theme in the first post.....

Yes, I did try flashing them with an update.zip it went with no errors but did not work. But I dont really know if I did it right..... this is a huge learning process for me.... If you can get these to work.... please tell me how.... and it better not take you 5 mins lol

Actually, I think you may have just been trying to install it wrong..lol I decompiled it thinking I was going to need to fix some 9pngs but the log said they were all ok. So I just stuck it in an update.zip and installed it..lol

Is this your original inverted voice.apk? and then you just replaced the drawable-hdpi complete folder? or just the updated pngs? and thats it? Thats like the first thing i tried.... for like HOURS....
I just went through the apk.... looks like you just overwrote the pngs and 9pngs with the new gray/green ones.... man... you didnt have to mess with any xmls did you?
That just seems way to easy... I tried that like 10 times

For this, All I did was take Voice out of the BNB theme and opened it with 7zip. (NOT UNZIP)... then I opened (again, not unzip) you hdpi folder. I highlighted all the images and moved them all at once into the BNB hdpi folder. I then closed 7zip and yes to updating the archive. I stuck Voice.apk into a update.zip template and put it on the SD Card. I rebooted into recovery and installed the zip.
Ive never tried just sticking something in the system folder and hiting install. Not sure that would work.
Maybe just putting the apk in there, making sure the permissions are correct and then just rebooting would seem more like the solid option to me. I mean, technically, if its in your system folder it is installed.

If added two widget to one theme, than I've changed the theme. Unfortunately Themer didn't remeber my widgets when I go back to the first theme.
How can I save my theme including the widgets?

Well, I dunno if I should just have edited my old, but anyways..
I saved my theme, worked fine, I thought it would help to not be so hasty in unlocking my rebooted phone. But it didn't.
At least with this I could restore my old extra widgets, except, it seems, when a widget needs to set some settings before it is shown correctly, even exporting the theme doesn't work for that particular widget. So my flashlight widget (in which I needed to choose an icon for the light) was invisible, when I unlocked widgets I could find it though, but couldnt get to its settings. And my gtasks widget which needed an account was just a white useless blob, that I needed to remove and then reinsert.

I've been tweaking my phone's theme and i'm absolutely stumped on this.
I'm using the "Twilight" theme as a starting point. While messing around and adjusting settings, I deleted one of the dock shortcuts. Only problem is, I can't restore it. I can make a new shortcut to the app I want, but the icons for the theme are nowhere to be found. So now I have these really nice icons and one giant ugly icon that doesn't match, with no way to replace it with the icons from the theme itself.
Is there a way to fix this? I don't want to reload the theme because that's just avoiding the problem.

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately the icons aren't stored on the device in a neat and easy to use way. I'll try contact the designer today and see if he still has the icons. Else the only way would be to restore the theme. Saving a theme after every big change also helps in case you lose an icon/widget.

Thanks. It's alright if you can't get the icons. I like the theme, and I might make my own icons for the apps that aren't included, so worst case I just need to add a few more.
