I did some investigation and made GPS work to get the satellite Fix.But the Comm Port is very much differrent and now need to b checked further so that the other apps such as Tom Tom, etc can use the port.To my Surprise the Protocol is Qualcomm and Comm Port is SMD 7.Here are the pics attached.
ALso some pics of Wi Fi.
I hope someone here can make it work..
Excellent
How did you manage to get GPS to get a fix on this?
thanks
HI Hdubli!
VERY VERY excellent!
...so let me understand: Are you trying to switch on the GPS system inside the Dual?
How can i see the same pics of your?

I used HTC GPS tool and some gps related DLLs.I will post the files and procedure once I get the GPS apps to use that port.
Perfect Hdubli....
You are right about GPS... I've already seen a device with GPS turned ON in Dual....as i wrote in my last post.
Good Luck and keep us in contact!
Bye
Typical, I ordered my HTC Touch on Friday (Arrived today), Then someone posts something like this.
Well thanks to good 'ol Orange My HTC Touch Dual will be here wednesday
I just hope now that this can be acheived, as I didn't really want to loose Wi-Fi, but having GPS builtin will be worth it.
And if I can help by dumping files from either device I'll gladly do it.
the chipset is definetly supporting GPS, but without a build-in antenna, I believe you won't have a good signal

Do you think that there is not a built-in antenna in this device?

There is no built-in antenna because of space limitations. I have heard this from a person working for a company selling the DUAL.
Funny how people think.
The qualcomm chip can undoubtedly handle the wifi & the gps.
But the chipset only won't do much good without an *antenna*, for wifi or gps.
You know, the thing that actually gets the signal, just like the one you need to have to watch TV.
An antenna costs money. There is absolutely no way HTC would build a phone with antennas for gps & wifi, without putting support for it in it just for licensing reasons.

fully agree!
Hasn't IceHack mentioned though that he's seen a dual with Wifi and GPS working with tomtom....which must mean it has the antenna.
Also wasn't it the same with the p3600 at release the GPS didnt work and it wasn't in the specs but later rom updates unlocked the GPS......... and the same with the s730 smartphone, not in the actual specs but present in the hardware.
So im hoping this is the case with the Dual ....all the hardware's there including antenna just needs unlocking with future rom updates or hacks.
Hopefully thats the case anyway..gps and wifi in the dual would be perfect and a great replacment for my kaiser.
keep up the good work.
Yes guys, as I told you I saw a Dual with this functions active!
i'm sure that was not a MicroSd - Wifi or and GPS BT near to the device!
As happened with my P3300 I saw excatly the same ways of connects....
Now, I really don't know how to do that... even if I don't think that HTC's has decided to unmount the antenna but leaving these settings in it!
Don't you think it doesn't make so much sense?!
I have an Atrix 4G, Tegrapart d00. . .I am currently using Epinter's CM10 ROM, though this problem has been present in CM7 and CM9 ROMS by various developers as well.
When I make an outgoing call I am unable to hear the phone ringing in the earpiece, can't hear it when the called party picks up, and can't hear myself, either. . .though the called party can hear me just fine. If I push the speakerphone soft key immediately after dialing the number and then push it again, all is well with the call.
As was mentioned, I have used several ROMs of various "flavors" and they all suffer the same problem. I have changed radios in the phone, as well, but it has still not solved the problem. I hate to think my beloved Atrix is on its last leg and I'm hoping it's a setting I'm missing or an easily downloadable fix and flash I can perform.
I searched all over XDA and on other sites and while I have seen a couple of other folks report a similar issue, I'm not seeing where anybody has been able to offer an answer.
Any help would be appreciated. Also, I hope I have posted in the correct place for this question. . . .previous posts have landed me in bad with moderators and I'm really hoping to avoid that this time! (Grin)
Thank you all in advance!

My GPS signal reception is very poor. Basically it's zero.
Anyone else having this issue? Yes i've checked all the obvious problems. The GPS is on. etc, etc.
Update. SOLVED. Hardware was broken. New phone and now signal is just fine. Don't bother updating or formating. Just get it replaced. All is well now

I'm having Bluetooth connectivity issues, specifically with my car (Volvo XC60, Bluetooth 04.23_R). For the last 2 or 3 weeks I've been using MegaFireMj2V6. Bluetooth was fine with other devices but the car wouldn't connect, always bringing up the "Unfortunately Bluetooth Share has stopped" error. Yesterday I upgraded to MegaFireMj2V7X, and now I'm having issues with connecting other devices as well, in other words the problem is now even worse.
I'm new to ROMs and flashing. Is it possible to replace and audition alternative Bluetooth elements in the hope of fixing the problem? Failing that I'll have no choice but to try another ROM entirely. That would be a shame because I'm enjoying MegaFire. But Bluetooth connection between my phone and car is essential. I'm not a power user, I just need a simple ROM, preferably no bloatware but definitely good, reliable bluetooth. Any recomendations, please?
You can replace your Bluetooth now..

Could you be more specific?
I've researched and have found that the Bluetooth stack, "Bluetooth Share", can be replaced. I've tried out three backups of my own, created by Titanium Backup in recent weeks, but unfortunately, this hasn't solved my Bluetooth issue. I have Bluetooth Share v 4.2.2. Is that the only version available, or can anyone let me know where I can find and audition alternatives? Failing that, I'll be re-flashing MegaFireMj2V7X later today and keeping my fingers crossed that that does the trick (although I don't think it will!).

Bluetooth is weird! It wouldn't connect ... it wouldn't connect ... But then today, without my doing anything at all, I got into the car and all of a sudden both devices are connecting perfectly!! And it's been like that all afternoon. I'm not going to touch any settings on any device, and hopefully things will stay as they are

Hey guys,
I upgraded my MK2 S4 to 4.4 NC5 using Surges method.
I have had zero issues since doing it a couple weeks ago. Everything is going great. I travel alot for work and today I jave been trying to call my daughter via Skype and Hangouts and the video quality is good, but they say my audio is garbled and sounds like a Chipmunk.
The wifi connection is good, and I tested my audio playback on the Skype echo test, and sure enough, I sound like a minion from Dispicable Me.
I recorded a video of myself, and the audio sounded fine.
Dont know what cound be causing it to get garbled over wifi calls.
Any ideas what cound be causing this.
Im completely stock except haveing a few apps frozen and wifi tether enabled.
My data is turned off since I don't have a global data plan. So im 100% on wifi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im away from home out of the country for 3 weeks and wiuld love to talk to my 3 year old.
Thanks

It sucks, but I'm kind of happy I'm not the only one.
Do you know if your NC5 was an OTA, or if it was rooted and forced update? What bootloader are you on? Is ot something related to a mod we've done?
Im really wondering how many people are affected and if its a firmware issue.
I've used hangouts for video back in the states, but my 4g was so good, I never had to use wifi.

Well I'm glad someone's happy.
I assume nc5 was an ota, the guy I got it from didn't seem to bright. I've rooted it, deleted some bloatware, but left everything else alone. My old phone, on the same wifi network, is running a non stock 2.3.4 rom and it seemed to work fine (other than making the s4 sound chipmunk-like).
Now find an answer and make me happy too.

Im not really happy, but if it's a NC5/NC2 issue, then everyone should be affected and we can get VZW on the fix.
But if it's just some of us that rooted and changed something that is affecting the phone, its going to be up us to figure it out. But I don't know anything about development.
What I do know is that this wasn't an issue on MK2, so I may be restoring back if this can't be resolved.
Im really surprised that there aren't a few more people on here who are willing to try it out and verify if it's universal, or an isolated incident.
Hopefully, more people who have read the thread will take 2 mins to test thier phones.
Im happy on NC5, but can't stay here if there is no fix.
Lots of people on this forum
Just asking for 2-3 mins of your time.
PLEASE try this out ao we can isolate if its a hardware issue or a software issue, and where in the software chain is the error occuring.
I know many on here have the same setup.
Stock Rooted NC5, with the MK2 bootloaders. These are the people I'd like to be to test thier audio over wifi.
Turn OFF (very important) your mobile data and video call (skype or Hangouts) someone over wifi. Can the person you're calling hear you clearly?
Then I would venture to ask those of us on NC2 with the MK2 bootloader to try the same.
And possibly those still on MK2 stock to try.
For those of us on the board, it'll only take a couple minutes to try this out and post your findings to verify if it's an NCxx thing.
Thanks.
I've also been having a similar issue with Google Hangouts video calls.
I'm on Dan's GPE 4.4.2 ROM using the Dec NC5 modem, before that I was on stock 4.2.2 on the MDK modem. Once in a while I've had an issue when my wife calls me my voice would sound really slow, but then she'd just call me back and the voice would return back to normal. This was before upgrading to 4.4.2 however since I've upgraded to KitKat almost every video call we'd have to call each other back and forth until we can hear each other.
I've tried rebooting, battery pulls turning off mobile data and only using WiFi and vice versa but still nothing really worked.
Was having the issue also with my Mom and brother, but I noticed once I upgraded them to the latest hangouts it worked fine.
Not really sure whats going on with Hangouts.

I tried with noise reduction off, and tried with voice privacy off, no changes.
Here's the odd thing. I downloaded and have been using "GrooVeIP" to make strictly calls over wifi, and it works perfectly.
So calls over wifi have no issue, just the audio on a video chat over wifi?
So has any of the other 121 people who have read the thread had time to test this?

Didn't work. Same chipmunk voice.
Crazy that i can use grooveIP to make calls over wifi with no problem, but once video /chat is in the mix, it goes to crap.
I finally realized that the chipmunk voice is being caused by the audio being sped up.
So the video chats are speeding up audio over wifi.
Any ideas what would cause this?
Fixed
The problem isn't with Google Now, it's Google Search's new "anytime /any screen" hotword section function..
Go to Google Search, Settings, Voice, Uncheck hotword detection from any screen.
Why this breaks the wifi audio when using a video chat service is a mystery.
I now realize that this wasn't an issue under 4.3, because Hotword detection from any screen is a Kitkat only feature.
I don't know if this a Samsung, possibly or Google Search issue. But I'll submit a ticket to Google under in the play store.
Hopefully, everyone else will too.
