Just went to CM7 need to know if I can move the blur voice dialer to CM7 or a recommended solution that doesn't need internet and also has verbal confirmation. On second note is their a way to double tap home to operate voice commands.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
In settings hit CM settings/ input/ long press home settings then pick customer. Click application and set voice dialer. Hold home down to long and it will open voice dialer.

I havent heard of anyone moving anything Blur to CM7 successfully. I know someone tried moving the blur keyboard and it didnt work. So be careful with adding blur stuff to this ROM and only do it if you are prepared to SBF.

Any blur/moto based apps or framework would have to be completely re-written as CM7DX2 does not have a trace of blur or blur framework. I am working with someone to see if we can get nuance ported. I will create a thread once I have something to present.
Ciao!
Not to gripe or complain, but if they worked SO hard to remove BLUR, why would you want to put it back in?
I can live without BLUR. After running this ROM and the stock and other ROMs, the difference is night and day in the performance. That is, the blurless ROM out-performs any of the other ROMs that have even traces of BLUR in them.
I'm officially blurless and will stay that way. No falling off the wagon for this blurless user.
Not sure if nuance it's necessarily blur add I think they can make it work without blur. If not, I'm with you I don't really want blur but do need a good voice dialer.

Correct, nuance is not blur, but we have to modify it to work with cm7... That's turning out to be a pain in the a$$! Anyhow, I am trying out vlingo, but, it's a PITA... I dunno, I guess I got spoiled with nuance...
I'm with you on vlingo can't stand it doesn't recognize well and doesn't come through on Bluetooth. have to say hey vlingo all the time so you sound like an idiot. I uninstalled vlingo and just using voice dialer for now but have to always look at screen.
Hope you get it working.

Hey guys I'm running Bionix V right now but I'm going to update to V 1.2.1.
So I'm wondering what the differences are between the 'Gingerbread' and the 'Touchwiz' editions? And in your opinions which is better and why?
I would just flash both of them to find out myself but I hate having to import my contacts, apps, sms/mms, and other things individually everytime. Unless you know of an app that makes it quick and easy to do all at once.
If someone could explain the differences I think I could make the right choice the first time
Thanks
Edit:
Also I've been hearing good/maybe bad things about V 1.2.1
Should users upgrade or stay with V? I'll keep you posted when I upgrade I've been a little busy lately
The difference is how the phone looks. When you hit the home button, your desktop, or launcher, has icons, widgets, etc.
The gingerbread one looks like standard, non themed gingerbread.
TouchWiz looks more like your vibrant did out of the box. I personally find it incredibly ugly so I prefer the gingerbread theme.

Yes, I have been. I really don't think it matters which one you install if you're planning on installing a 3rd party launcher, anyway.

Oh really the only difference between the touchwiz and gingerbread is the launcher?
And how customizable are each of them and maybe I wouldn't need a third party launcher?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The only advantage I can think of for using touchwiz is that it comes with the Samsung apps installed as well.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
That's what I want to get rid of. All the apps like mobileTV, amazon, kindle, all the bloatware.
So gingerbread is the way I should go?

I'm not sure if it comes with the bloatware, but it would come with the Samsung widgets that are available using TouchWiz. (One example is the "Friends" widget that updates facebook and twitter)
But if you're planning on using LauncherPro or any other launcher, all of this is moot anyway. I'd recommend the Gingerbread version because I like the notification bar and stock android is so much better looking than TouchWiz in every aspect.
EDIT: You asked earlier how to import contacts and things; you should sync them with Google as it makes the transition between ROMs seamless. Also, Titanium Backup can backup and restore all of your apps and data. (This excludes SMS). Finally, I use SMS backup to backup all of my texts/MMS to gmail for safekeeping
Thanks wearmaize
I'll go with gingerbread. I use sms and titanium backup they work great.
But last time I synced with google it didn't save all my contacts when I flashed so I don't know if somethings wrong or I'm doing it wrong

Next time you sync with google, check your contacts online using a computer to make sure they're all there.
As for Bionix, I'd recommend v 1.2 or v 1.2.1. I find v 1.2 to be the most stable, but I've only been on v 1.2.1 for a day so I can't really say for sure. Both are great.

I don't know about all of you, but the default Blur dialer is roughly 10,000,000 times better than WyContacts that is packaged with CM7. I can't stand the piece of crap anymore. It doesn't allow you to tap a number and have it pull in the dialer so it can be modified, the contact integration is wonky, the favorites list is shoddy... basically I hate it if you can't tell.
Is there a way to either get the stock Dialer from Gingerbread (from the n1 or ns), the Blur dialer, or some other dialer that supports the same feature set as the default or Blur ones?
Help?

Thanks, this one seems to be the closest one available. It's only missing the "Recommended" Favorites. However, where most of these dialers are only 60% of what I want, Go Dialer is more like 80% what I want. None of the other free ones on the Market are very good at all.

I have the paid version of ADW and have never seen that option. Im pretty sure I have looked through all the ADW options. But Im kind of looking for a universal option which a launcher probably wont do. I Have tried most of the ROMS available. Right now I am using Eclipse. It doesnt do it.
Hmm. You've had this on other phones? If so which ones? I'd like to take a look at how they do it and maybe figure out a way to get our phone to do the same. I read the article briefly and it seems that in order for it to be universal it may require a lot of typing.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
From reading the article, unless I'm misunderstanding, it looks to me like it has to be coded into the app. I've got at least one app that does this now. Might be more but I've never paid attention until now. Quick Settings will do this if you have it set to dialog mode. It doesn't blur but it does dim the screen. But that function (blurring) too would appear to be something coded into the app.
Yes this particular article is regarding writing an actual app, its not a function on any launcher. I don't know of a launcher setting to do this universally, there are some options if you crack open a theme or rom and start playing with xml files but thats about it.
I have not had this on other phones. But I've seen it before. Check out this video and look at the 30 second mark:

Thats what I thought it might be. the xml files. But Im not a developer. I wouldnt know where to look or what to change.
Ya doing that would be a big rewrite as far as xml's go...the effect is cool and i wish it was easy to implement universally but as far as i know its not easy...i looked into it a while back.
This seems like a cool effect but the amount of work for the payoff is just not worth it.. especially if its an app by app basis.. I looked at the link quick.. will executing this do this to all apps or is it app by app basis.. if it does the effect to all apps I would look into this further

Just saying again, I'm no developer. But even if that link I posted is just refering to designing an app, I would think there's a place to put this in the system ui files. I know that when I power down my phone, it blurs the background when it's saying "powering down the device" or something like that. But that's the only time it does it. Also, I would think anywhere it has the dimming code, which happens when a dialog box comes up like when you long press the home screen to add a widget. Can't you add or modify the code that does that?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Well the trick would be to find a Rom that does that effect then copy the code from there...If anyone finds a rom with that effect, let me know i can try to find the code, i would love this effect but i just don't have time right now to do the research...maybe this weekend.

I used to use Handcent quite some time ago but found out that it was causing some problems with people receiving my messages and pictures. In addition, it started hanging and would generally slow down. Lastly I was told that it does not necessarily play nice with some other applications, namely LightFlow.
When I eventually put Eclipse on my DX2, I simply did not re-download Handcent and was just using the stock SMS until today, using CM7 and still, the stock SMS.
What does everyone else use, are there any decent alternatives to the stock SMS and if so, what makes it a better alternative?
All I've ever used is handcent, seems to be working nice for me, never used liteflow though.

I'm a huge fan of chompSMS. I've tried Handcent and GoSMS, but I always end up coming back to chomp. The only thing I wish they would add is the ability to multi-select message threads to delete, instead of having to do it one by one or deleting them all at once. I emailed them and suggested that and they responded that it was planned for an upcoming update, so maybe I'll get my wish.

I have used Metro Messaging Beta for a while. It was when I was going through my WP7 phase. lol. I actually liked it though. It didnt have any cool features (it was actually very limited) but with how simple it was, it was nice to use. I have recently just gone back to the stock sms app though. I also use SMS Popup so when I get a message, I dont even have to open the sms app.
I too, use GOsms. I like the customization and different themes it offers.
Just make sure to manually go into stock notifications and disable. Other wise you will get multi notifications at some point. It will ask you at setup to disable, but for some reason you will still have to manual disable through stock app.
You could always give it a go!

GO SMS is what I use, I like how it pops up a window without you having to swipe notifications, and the overall customizability of it. As Elite49 said, you cant go over 1.2mb in size but it just let it shrink my photos to fit and it works just fine. Be sure to get all the plug in for it too, there are tons of themes and emotocons etc...

As with the previous leaks some of the issues were not addressed. Basically some will find this leak pleasant and others such as myself not worth the hassle (returning once again back to stock). I quess it all depends on how one uses their phones. For me the task manager (jobmanager.apk) is a must, task manager must be used repeatedly to accomplish anything. Next Bluetooth works, however when using it with Pandora and programs via data I lose the ability to control music using headset (some functions work others don't). Trying to connect to a call via Bluetooth during audio playback in news or Pandora is more trouble than its worth. Tap to zoom while viewing pages over zooms not to big an issue but prefer to have it zoom and fit the screen. Last but not least, I still think the note has the worst call quality of any phone I've ever used was hoping a ROM or update would fix this, of course this is my opinion here. I will give the browser one thumbs up (the other hand is being used to display a middle finger to this leak) it far surpasses the previous stock browser, I'm not a fan of the checkerboard effect. I haven't used this leak long enough to find any other problems.

I'm glad to see that the keyboard problem wasn't just me. I felt like Homer Simpson trying to type. Not only was it generating a lot of typos but it also seemed like the auto-correct was acting like a drunk Marine... way too aggressive and usually wrong. The strange part is that I encountered the exact same problem with the android keyboard, the samsung keyboard, ICS keyboard, A.I. Type, and Swype. Swiftkey has acted fairly good for me though. I imagine there has to be some component, related to autocorrect, that all of the other keyboards share but Swiftkey doesn't.
I seems that the hidden menu:
*#*#4636#*#*
is not working anymore. I think this is a new issue, before this was always working.
I also don't like too much this new keyboard ... too many typos.
So is it the way the screen reads your fingertips, or is the dictionary a suck-hole?
