[Q] battery life with rom - Motorola Droid RAZR

hi,
I was with artic rom on gsm razr, and i had a really poor battery life, 12hour 80% .
Well, i went to stock rom and with "smart action"(not sure about the app name, because i have it in french) i break my record with 2days on battery with soft usage(sms / call / jelly defense / gta III...). I configured it to turn of DATA/WIFI on screen off and night.
So what battery life could you have with different rom and how did you manage to?

[Q] How do you boost battery performance?

On my HTC HD2 (O2) phone, my drains battery drains why too faster, i'm running the latest ROM v1.72.206.3 from O2, is there a way of boosting battery performance?
install a new radio rom. Which is best for you is dependant on your area but for me it's 2.12.50.02_2. I also use the energy 6.5.x series roms (not the best on battery but is very easy to use) in conjunction with the radio rom i just mentioned. On light usage my phone will last almost 3 days. With heavy usage (but not playing video) it will last about 2.
Geting rid of the stock software and going custom and newer was probably the best choice i made regarding my phone.
If you want to keep your radio and stock ROM (like me, 1.72 TMob) you can also try and space out the update of weather and email. l have automatic weather updates every 3 hours and emails every hour. You'll be amazed how long the battery lasts. On the other hand, if you are in an area with not very stable reception, your battery will drain quicker because the phone will be working very hard to try and find a stronger signal to keep you connected. So, battery trouble is not just down to stock ROM or even usage. We have a growing number of super-sophisticated smartphones (not just HD2's) using almost Jurassic networks

I use Dutty's latest rom and have to say it is great for battery life! =)
Heres the settings that I use to get 2 - 3 days per charge:
- No email account (I use opera to see my gmail account so I dont need my email updating every few hours draining battery)
- No weather animation (The clouds get annoying for me anyways so I'd rather not have this battery drainer)
- 30% display backlight brightness
- Wifi off
- Bluetooth off
- 2g edge connection on and 3g turned off unless I need to browse the internet
- HTC location services off
- Black background
EDIT: Heres the link to the ROM I am using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610634
Sooooo, looks like the only way to have good battery life is to switch off all the functionality that makes the HD2 better than a crummy 10yr old Nokia. Is there nothing else? Anyone know of higher capacity battery availability? Mine drains completely between 8am and 6pm with a couple of short calls, couple of minutes on the internet, location on (hourly updates) and push gmail.
Just found this - very helpful people and lots of ideas to sort out battery draining issues:

[Q] Battery life on madmack's 1.4 (KE7 + RTL + Arabic)

Dear friends,
So here is the deal.
I got my Galaxy S2 and there was no Arabic support. I've got the ROM created by madmack which has the latest Samsung updates i.e. KE7 plus Arabic.
Now the battery life is really not good. For example the battery meter was 100% then I checked twitter app and listened to music about an hour (with wi-fi turned off, screen brightness to minimum) now it is showing 94%. Please tell me if this normal, if it is then I can just keep charging every day! otherwise please share your experience on how to solve this issue.
As a proof of this, I have to charge the phone everyday during week days, i.e. I am at work which means my usage is to the minimal and still battery life is bad.
Kind regards,
Sul
Sounds similar to the battery life I'm getting on a stock KE7 firmware.
Looks like it is a KE7 issue?
any help??

no one else is having this issue??

[Q] best custom rom with good battery life and performance??

guys i have been using grif_07 cyanogenmod 7.1 for some time now.....although i loved every portion of it(espically the blazing speed and super fast performance) it was at the cost of battery.....
even if the phone was charged to 100%,the battey would drain out overnight despite it being idle for the whole night......
so i am using stock now.....bettery battery but below avg. on performance.....
best rom which balances out both??
I'm currently using 7.2 (1st version), and with it I use CPU Tuner to config my battery usage... It takes about 24h to drain completely, I use a lot my phone, mainly wifi to send emails and facebook...
Im trying Icecream Sunday2 and its going very well

Battery drain

hello, before all, i know there are too many posts about improving battery life and other, but i wanted to ask my personal case. i have SGSII 2.3.6 v6, based on stock DDKQ8 2.3.6.
The thing is that having wifi, the battery life is almost normal, for a 1360 mAh battery, but with 2G or 3G the battery draining is too big, for example using only whatsapp with 2G, the battery drops so quickly, i have tried all, underclocking the phone, clearing battery stats and all kind of tricks, thank you.
The radio hardware on the phone besides the visor ilumination in one of the thing that most battery consumes!
Even if you have no mobile data on, its always consuming! when you turn that on! the usage of the radio hardware on the phone gets 5X active and thats why the battery drains so fast! if you are on a area that has poor service ... add 1 more to those 5 times!
This phone was not made to endure that "pain"
my phone can last up to 3 days on DDQ8 stocklite v6 ... and i still use it in a normal way! use mobile data! Use wi-fi! etc ...
but ... i always turn both off when not using (3G and Wi-Fi) my visor ilumination is almost at the minimum! have no animation! have no sync on ... its bad? yeeessss
Ace battery SUCK's in wathever ROM you install it ... accept it ... all we can do is minimize the "damage"
You have to choose performance or battery! Both? Nearly impossible
Enjoy your ace!
thank you very much for you advice! i will try to follow it, and then i tell you, but apart from that, i want to see more advice or something, but whatever, thank you

Try the GreenPower app. It can save a lot of juice.
SnowPluralism is right. Check your batt stats and it should say cell radio has a high percentage of your batt drain. Juicedefender (& Greenpower suggested above) is an app that regulates your data, turning it off whenever your screen is off (and turning on for when your phone requests data sync). Not much more can be done.
yeah.. all battery power saver application will only regulate the data communication, gps, screen brightness.
the most energy consume is data communication. as we all know, android also have the background data communication. so eventhough the sync off, it still consume a lot of batery.
turning off the data communication will save a lot of batery.
but, android without data communication? same as blackberry without BIS (blackberry internet service). just a dumb phone
okay guys, as you are saying, im going to focus in regulate data connection, im going to try GreenPower and juicedefender, then i will come back and tell you!

Check your battery usage. What is using most of your battery?
Turning screen brightness to 50% will obviously help more than just about anything else. Also make sure there aren't any issues with Media Scanner eating battery (sometimes it hangs in the background and does not let the device go to sleep--this made my battery behave very similar to yours).
Is your phone overclocked? Are processes running in the background? Once I solved my media scanner solution, my phone lasts for a couple days with moderate usage (games, wifi web).
Let us know what things are using the most of your battery (settings>power saver>battery use) and maybe we can go from there.
