Sonic Episode 1 was released and I played it for a bit, was really disappointed by the game play. Coming from the Sega and Dreamcast days, thinking about Sonic and the various games makes me want to play them again! I was wondering if anyone has come across a Dreamcast emulator for Android? I remember hearing about SNES emulators but I haven't come across any other platforms.

There is a dreamcast emulator being developed but not released yet. If you want some old school games, depending how old you are, try this

You did post it the themes and app section. He meant that your post should have been in the Questions and Answers section since it is a question not an actual App

So I've got neodroid on my view, downloaded a rom, but through Firefox Android, it didn't work, but the Mame games are pretty much SNES and SEGA, I was hoping for some Dreamcast; Sonic Adventures, Crazy Taxi.
Sent from my Rooted HTC EVO View 4G (Honeycomb)
it will only work for NEO GEO titles like metal slug etc. I just through it out there because it had some neat old arcade games. If you want to find working roms, while in neodroid hit the search button up top. It will list games you can play. If you click on the game it will take you to the downloads. The titles in red do not work. As for Sonic and what not I have not found an emulator out yet that works but that does not mean one does not exist
I figured as much as I found the sonic adventures rom, they are 600+ megs but that's not an issue (in my opinion). I guess I'll have to stick to pc emulation or the stock consoles for now but will keep hunting for other emulators for tabs/android. Thanks for the info.

So im reading that NOVA 2 HD from Gameloft is now available for download on the Market. However, I cant find it on the market. So I go to Gameloft website only to realize that they have no games that are supported by our Streaks. Is there any way to get this game working on the Streak?
I love playing games on my phone, especially during downtime at work The reviews for NOVA are all great. It seems like an excellent FPS for the mobile platform, and I wanna play it!
Anyone?

I installed a version of NOVA 2 on my streak and while it does run, it does so very poorly with missing graphics and often freezes up or lags to the point of being un-playable. Has anyone else had any luck gettting this to run properly? and if so, what version of the game are you using?
I'm using Streakdroid 1.9 with perfmod and OC'ed to 1.19 ghz
All I know is this that gameloft and several other games face issues on DJ steve kernel...
Cheers!!

So N64oid 2.0 (and subsequent editions) has come out and I'm wondering what everyone's experience has been playing it on their 3VOs.
So far I've only played Zelda and it's been pretty great over all. It crashes every few minutes so I have to back up often, and the sound gets a little glitchy so far. I've found that OC to 1.8 GHz and setting frame skip to about 7 or 8 seems optimal
Any other positive experiences with n64oid or other emulator apps?
Please don't post Warez here or the thread will get shut down.

Since the Evo 3D supports the bluetooth HID profile, then the Phonejoy will work - heres my demo with the HTC Sensation (forward to 3:30):

does anyone have the devs email? or where you can find it? i bought the original and when he pulled it he said that he could replace it with the updated one when it came out. thanks in advance!

Has anybody had any luck with wiimotes or ps3 controllers?
Wiimotes and PS3 controllers will not work, that hasn't (yet) changed.
I played The Ocarina of Time, overall is good. Sounds skips here and there but so far is solid. I've been playing Starfox 64 though, controls are a bit hard but just takes some time to get used to.
So with all the new ROMs popping up, is anyone aware of a Dev that is working on replacing the bluetooth stack to something that will support using the wiimote or is that even possible until we get CM or something similar?
...............
So I wanted to see peoples reaction to porting android to a Xbox or wii ? I have been contemplating putting some time and money into porting a rom for the wii I think it would be really crazy! I managed to get the android live disc running on my modded Xbox but no controls yet. Would anyone be interested in a rom for the wii if I get it working? Let me now!

The Wii would be helped by the fact that it has a massive Linux porting community. Check out Whiite Linux. Sadly, they barely have X Window running on most implementations.
On that matter, most of the android functionality is already there, it's a matter of looking pretty. Short Of Angry Birds, they've beat you to it in a lot of ways. They've got apps and even an appstore called the Homebrew Browser. Everything is very slow, but what can you expect from it? Yes, most of the good stuff is running by putting Devkit Pro on top of a weak linux, so some improvement could be had. It's not android, but it does the same things.
So far as the 360 goes, if you could put an indie game out with an intentional bug that lets you run Androidx86 off a thumb drive, you could use the Kinect to emulate touch screen. USB keyboard is available to fill in the rest.

It'd be great, but considering that the Wii is running on 2001 State Of The Art, I doubt it will be able to handle much without the official devkit (Which is illegal unless you are a major label dev). Also, everything has to be put into a binary to load, so even Whiite is being done a convoluted way. I have a bit of knowledge of running homebrew on Wii, so I can get you any info or testing you need.
Start with Froyo. Honeycomb won't happen. Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich, but not Honeycomb, for this type of project, you'll NEED kernel source.
I'd be willing to test on Wii or 360. Sounds awesome.
Wow! Right up my street. My two favs mashed together. So INTERESTED! I'm new to the 'DEV', but addicted, and learning at lightspeed. Xboxs ready and waiting 2 serve! Xbox nandroid would revolutionize the world. It would be one of the most popular PCs ever, not to mention cheap.

Found A Way
Okay, so i was doing some searching and i found something called android-x86
(wwwDOTandroid-x86DOTorg) and they have full source code for a x86/PPC version of android, gingerbread currently. which is good because of the wii which has a PPC prossesor. If you do some editing im sure someone can make android for wii.
I'd be willing to test either system android TV would be cool if we could figure that out .. wii or 360 would be excellent to have android os on it I'm thinking wii would be easy for everyone to use since its so easy to mod and the hbc delivers downloads for everyone

I hate to be cynical here, but the Wii only has 88mb of ram. I dont know if thats enough to run Android. Not to mention that Android was written for the ARM platform and the Wii is PPC.

If our phones are So damn powerful, why is every freakin RPG I play are 8 bit graphics? I'm starting to get fed up because everyone is using the exact same sprite designs. >_<
Dungeon Hunter 2 is pretty good, also. It's basically an old school Dungeon Crawler RPG.
Try FPSE and play some PS1 RPGs. Also, Hyberdevbox has a really good strategy RPG called Spectral Souls which has nice graphics. It's pricey but a massive game.

Hahaha. You're welcome. Also, not sure if you tried them or not, I know they aren't big fancy graphics. But the RPGs by Kemco are usually pretty well done. I've played through a couple of them.
Yeah, ran through all of them. That's what was upsetting me. They've been evolving with each release, to me, it started to feel like the same crap over and over. Then I find another game from a different company, and instead of seeing what they had different, I kept finding myself acknowledging the same concepts and designs as all the other ones.
No breath of fresh air yet. That's why I'm all over everyone's suggestions here.
It's funny though. I find myself on my phone playing games more then I do with my Xbox and PS3. But my wife doesn't mind, since she's basically took them over.
try earth and legend.its by far the best RPG with best looking graphics.my Xperia X10 couldnt open it and My Xperia Arc struggled doing so

Great thread! I've tried to get into android RPG's but...I need some suggestions.
I played and beat Gurk, which I really liked. I prefer turn based like games like the OG final fantasy and Dragon Warrior for the NES. I played Battleheart which has great graphics but I didn't like the play style.
Is Gurk II worth the buck?
Never heard of it. I'll go check it out.
Hey have you tried Vampire's Fall? Been playing it for the last few days, pretty good
Give a shot on Sacred Odyssey too. Amazing game.

This game blows them all out. It's not exactly great on the graphics but damn this game is deep.
Hi, I recently bought fpse and its propably best option for gaming on mobile phone (infinitely multiplied if you grew up on PS1 and unlike PS1, it has some inbuild options like quicksave/quickload which allmost work like a hax), has anyone tried it yet? Id like to have some recomendations about games, I am a bit afraid to try action ones, but final fantasy 7 works great (only one bug is there, which could be fixed by a bit of clicks in fpse menu (tifa limit break lags the game to unplayable level, solved by enabling frameskip in video options (could be activated right before using it and deactivating after she has used it, because frameskip makes video a bit sluggish).
Also I dont wanna mess with fpse settings, since this is the way I messed up PS emulator on pc, doesnt someone know what settings (especialy on this device) improves overall performance.
When i was younger it was all about Spyro and Crash bandicoot and Tekken3 give 'em a try
