hi guys need some help here.
i am currently on Checkrom v4 + siyah kernel.
I want to try speedmod kernel to see if it's better for my phone.
How do i do it? Do i have to clear cache or wipe any data?
TIA for the help
Generally when I flash a new kernel I wipe cache/Dalvik before I flash the new kernel, flash the kernel, boot back into recovery & wipe cache/Dalvik again, reboot & enjoy.

they removed it? then just either reflash the rom since it is no wipe or just go through and flash it through odin. i would just reflash the rom since it is no wipe
just flash rom again
don't wipe anything
check rom is no wipe custom rom, you don't need to wipe anything just to go back to stock kernel
1.- download ur stock kernel
2.-flash it with odin
3.-?????
4.- profit
Hi,
i tried to flash hybrom v11 (comming from cm7.2) i followed all instructions but it doewnt boot.
I am getting the android and then a blackscreen.
I also tried to install a different hybrom before, but no chance Does anybody has a hint for me?
Thanks in advance,
ede
Did you wipe cache, user data and dalvik cache?
If you are coming from CM i suggest you to flash a stock rom with stock kernel and boot the phone. after successfully doing it, then you can try to flash hybrom v11
besides, it is good to ask this from boof (the creator) in the hybrom thread
Hi, I have a st15i 4.0.2.A.0.42 with stock firmware.
My system is rooted, bootloader unlock.
How do I install this ROM?
I must first upgrade to build 062?
If so, how do I build on the root 062?

Hi,

No. Your data and applications will remain. You could try out this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970543. You flash a kernel the same way you flash a rom (you don't need to do a full wipe though; just wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache when done).

Hi guys, i just got a S2 from a relative of mine and i'm quite new to the flashing and stuff for S2. P.S (My previous device was much more easier).
And so i decided to try out RR (Resurrection Remix). I was on 4.1.2 stock, so i tried to root via, both, Siyah and Dorimanx. After rooting them, boot up, i then proceed on to flash RR and GAPPS. But it didn't work. So, how do i exactly go about flashing RR?
Did i do something wrong? Can someone help me a bit?

Me personally prefer Philz kernal which adds a great CWM with the option to delete all data for installing a new rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
Are you sure you have downloaded RR for your i9100 variant?

I'm sure I did. So you suggest me using Philz kernel to root my phone? Does it work on the Jb 4.1.2 stock?

Yes m8. Make sure you read the install instructions on the OP of the rom. Cyanogenmod you flash the rom then wipe data where with neatrom you wipe data first. If you have to wipe data after flash dont select the option to wipe all data to install a new rom. Philz kernal is only for samsung stock/based roms so dont put on RR. When you flash RR it will put their kernal on during flash.

Can i have a more advanced instructions starting from Stock 4.1.2?
Because i have tried a lot of different ways to flash RR, or PAC, or even stock roms like Optimus. But i still fail. Really don't know how to continue...

Have you rooted you phone? And got CWM(clockworkmod) recovery?
If so just download the rom, place it on you sd card, boot into recovery and follow the steps in my previous post.
If you not rooted or dont have CWM recovery got to the link below and download the zip file which will then both root and give you CWM.

Yes, I had similar experience when I started flashing roms on i9100. Stick with it, it really is worth it and once you get the first one you will realise just how easy it is.
Check this post out for detailed info

maybe try a different ROM, PAC or Carbon work well imho.
good luck

Do you still remember how flash custom roms all the way from the beginning at stock? I've been doing it for days and all the roms seem to boot forever

You can do it both ways, you should not be needing a full system wipe, only dalvik and cache wipe. Depending on your current rom and changes you have made you can opt for kernel only or full rom flash. Data and apps should stay intact, but do a nandroid backup just in case.
