I was able to get a Nokia Lumia 800 as a developer gift from Nokia. and it seems that it doesn't have the common battery issues that people have.
At first it did, would shut off at 20%. Messed around with just connecting and getting data using DPM and Nokia Care Suite after updating it to Mango 8107 and it started working just fine.
I am on the 11451 firmware and my Diagnostic app steadily always shows 1516-1520mAh for full charge. Only thing weird, it says "Charged 65535%" for the battery percentage. I have checked it daily for the last week, no change to the full charge capacity.
Here are my specs to help, and a shot of my phone's diagnostic screen.
Carrier: AT&T USA
Firmware: 1600.2479.7740.11451
Hardware Revision: 112.1402.2.3
OS: 7.10.8107.79
Nokia Care Suite Info
Product Code: 059J3G0
At some point I was able to pull the Variant and it was something like "RM-801 EURO MATT BLACK" or something, I can't find it atm. I think it was in DPM, but I updated my DPM and it won't launch now.
Also, there isn't an 11500/11501 release on DPM for this model, or on Zune.
I thought this could be useful for those trying to figure stuff out.

Well, there are (were) 2 problemes.
- First, some people had less than 1000 mAh for Full Charge Capacity, when the battery capacity is 1450..
- Second, people have around 1500mAh like you, but, "Remaining Charge Capacity" stuck at about 1300 when the phone is FULLY charged.
THere is a difference of 200 mAh.
I bet you are in the second group.
The update fixe both problems, and the new Diag app show correct percentage of charge.
Ok, I will look into it. I just thought I could provide some info that might help somehow.
I will full charge it and check.
But the second issue, is there isn't a 11500 update for my product code on the servers.
Does anyone know which one would be safe to flash onto my phone if I wanted to do an upgrade? The closes I think was I got UK Variant MATT Black, that didn't have any carrier specifics on it. I didn't flash it, I just have it downloaded, and changed the Product Code on the filename so it matches mine.
Just wanted to make sure that I can flash safely one of these other versions so I don't screw up my unlocked phone or make it default to some settings that don't fit for the US market.
For 11501, I used Navifirm Plus to flash "Country variant United Kingdom GB v3 Black (059L7C2)" without any ill effects. As you mentioned, I changed product code on this firmware to match my phone before flashing. I have a debranded Tmobile Germany phone.
Note that 11501 includes the Network Setup app. It won't hurt to add your carrier's APN settings using this app -- here is AT&T's apn:
http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=35078&cv=820#fbid=IR7t0iHb42l
Before I do the upgrade, is there a way to do it without wiping my phone? If not, I have looked through the various backup tools in the other WP7 dev forum, but does anyone know which one, if possible, can backup and restore everything. Apps, settings, etc. to the way it was before the wipe?
Also thats funny, since thats the exact version I downloaded, thinking it would be the least likely one to screw anything up since it seems more universal then the carrier specific ones.
[Edit] Oh and forgot to provide an update. I did a full charge, and it stopped at 1380ish or something. I forgot to check this morning after a full wall charge, but 1380 is what I got from charging it from my laptop. So I guess I may be in the same boat. At least it doesn't shut off at 20% like it did when I first got it.
Nope, sorry. Doing the firmware flash will wipe your phone.

The update may or may not fix both problems. Some people are reporting better battery life, some people are reporting worse. Also, the incorrect percentage (65535%) isn't a problem with the Diagnostics app - it is a firmware issue with 11451. I know this as I kept the old version of the Diag app on my Lumia after updating to 11500 and the correct percentage was shown.

The full charge capacity and remaining charge are different. Everyone I know who has a Lumia can not charge up to the full rated capacity of 1450mAh. Most people reach around 1280mAh and it stops charging.
After the 11500/11051 update, you will see it will charge up to ~1470mAh for a day or two. And then the available capacity will start to drop off and stop around 1280 - 1320mAh. No one knows why this happens as of yet.
You can flash any version on the Lumia firmwares to a Lumia - they should all work. Just some of them have different pre-installed apps and different default language settings, etc...
I got a pre-release model of the Lumia 800
The battery problems were present all the time, untill I did the last update
Now my full charge is allways 1350 mAh
And my battery lasts about 2 days.
Giblet
I replaced my firmware on my developer gift phone with the new firmware and lost all my debugging tools
Any chance you have the dev firmware or the KITL/QC BSP xaps?

I Have the exact same situation now coming from 11501, with very poor batterylife, I also flashed the MATH BLACK variety which was indeed on DPM. After that I received a Zune update to the latest OS but the firmware is exactly like yours and also the diagnostic tools says "Charged 65535%" all the time.
However, my batterylife is great and I have not experienced any bugs yet, alltought the touchfunctionality seems to freeze every once in a whilw e when incall. I sometimes have a problem ending a call.
I can live with this, this is the batterylife I need, a full day with sub heavy usage. 15 calls, some long, two exchange acounts, a pop acount and wifi on all day. also browsing every day and twitter and facebook automaticaly update.
Hi.
I've same version with similar problem. i thinks diagnostic display 1500 mah but it's a fake display. One time i've see the true (i think) value : 908 :/
Often, near 40-30% of batterie my lumia shutdown. In reality, battery was empty ...
I've flash with the last firmware yesterday and all work well and battery level too!!
I've don't check for development.

Thanks
My dev model is RM-801. Got the 8107 OS update, but no firmware update is available to me so still on 11451 there. No clue if I have the battery problems or not. I don't really want to know.

RM-801 is a generic code for all Lumia 800's in Europe, Asia, and Africa. What I want to know is the specific product code related to the developer model. It is a 7-character string, eg: 059N2C3

A bit lazy to take the SIM tray out, but on the box is written 002X5P9. Probably the code you're looking for.
My developer set product code is 059J3G0, which is the same as yours.

Alright, i have my Titan X310E, first come from England right here on U.S . Many people here still questioning about it , so i decided to be the tester for any questions that you guys may have with Titan.
Monday (10.17)
I was in terrible sick , but the Titan came from USPS Express made me really pleased. The box look like other HTCs at Europe... Nothing much could be tell from outside.

I opened the box and pull out this beautiful device, once again, i have the happy feeling when i first have my HD7.
My First Impression? This thing is just bigger than my Schubert and that is all i care. Bigger screen, bigger phone, still thin, sexy and yes, metal cover.
I went through the first set up for the phone, it is kinda lame when i have to set the Time Zone manually, while my HD7 can set it automatically everytime i install a new ROM or reset my phone. Maybe it can be done only if i am in England, where you have only one time zone...
Okay, that was quick, and yes, the screen, is nice. I can even see it way better than my HD7, even the seller has already put a crappy screen protector from the ipad over it (he cut the screen protector to be fit). Low DPI? I think you have an eagle eyes to see those stuffs. And yes, this thing has the front-facing Camera, 1.3mp, equal to my old Nokia 5310. But you have nothing to use it except you gonna post pictures of yourself in the bathroom on Facebook tomorrow with terrible quality.
We do have a small button on the bottom of the phone to open the back case, and yes it is a brilliant idea , just 2 piece of metal for the whole phone. I am impressed.
How is it feel in your hand? I am a "big-phone" user, i had HD2 before, i had HD7 Before, i played with Dell Streak for a little bit, so this baby right here isn't a big problem with me. But it could be problem with people who have small hand ( i considered myself to have a medium-size hand). No , you are not gonna buy this for your girlfriend.
The Phone is thin, and it is sexy. HTC always does a good job in making a sexy look for their phone. It definitely feel comfortable in your hand, i don't doubt that. The Micro-USB port is on the left side of the phone, which is the sign of "up-coming" Dock for Titan from HTC. The Button has more "feeling" than the HD7, it is plastic, but has decent feel when you press it.
This phone isn't released in States yet, so mine right here is the UK version, which is considered as World Phone, the frequency they use is different with T-Mobile USA , so you are not gonna have 3G for this on T-Mobile. I will swap to AT&T in the few days and tell you guys more about it.
HSPA/WCDMA 850/900/2100Mhz (AT&T should be able to Provide this thing 3G or i will sell it and get an AT&T version later)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900Mhz)
Well, i was impressed by this bought except the non-3g frequency for T-Mobile. I am still using it today , so you guys will have the post of my experience tonight.
Thank you for your nice review
What about the screen quality ? (not the dpi but the glass quality ?)

I would say it is good. Not the best but it is good-perfect.

Tuesday (10.18)
Alright, i was sick yesterday so i can't really go over the OS of the Titan. We both know Titan use Mango 7.10.7720, which is RTM, quite familar with XDA People in this Windows Phone Subforum. The Titan also come with Second generation Snapdragon Qualcomm 1.5ghz CPU, a flash internal memory (16GB) from Samsung, not a high-speed microsd card anymore. I would say there is a significant jump for Titan in performance.
I tried out Fruit Ninja on Titan. And i must say, the performance is way different from HD7. When you hit the Frenzy banana and start to make 7,8,9 Combos , it is just all smooth, when you can see notice-able lag on HD7.
Or you can also compare the heavy game monopoly, where the frame rate can be seen much higher in Titan, compare to HD7.
Titan Rank #2 in Performance Chart (Following WP Bench Chart). But i will say to you guys one thing, i have seen lag on Titan. Review on several website can say it doesn't have lag at all, which is wrong, you can see the choppy performance sometime when using, but it could be the first built of Titan OS, which is not fully optimized for Titan yet, we will wait and see, i have several fun stuffs for you to know about the mango on titan later in this post.
The Back Cover may be hard to remove for new people. But all you need to do is press the button on the bottom of phone and slide the phone out.
The Back cover is claimed to be 100% Aluminum, and of course, it light. Not too heavy compare to the HD7.
Titan is definitely Longer than the HD7, but in fact, it is thinner than HD7, you can see it when trying to compare the 2 line by line, or just your feeling when holding 2 devices in the hands.
And one thing, you will not get the Kickstand on Titan, which is useful when watching video.
Camera, which is nice, i don't have much time to test it, but it is good in my opinion, the picture come out in good quality. 8MP seem to be good, and i am not a person who concen much about the quality of the picture.
Here is an example of the Titan's picture
The sound quality of Titan is very nice. The volume is also good, i rate it as 8.5/10 for loudness, you can turn the volume up to 10-14/30 and you have the loudness of HD7 on 30/30
Video Playback Quality on Titan is also great, from 720p Call of Duty Trailer to Full HD 1080p Mike Posner Music Video, titan handle it all. With a good headphone, you might want to check out thr SRS Lab 5.1 Surround when you play Video on Titan.
The 4.7 inch Screen is really great regarding the limit in Resolution. it also make the keyboard bigger and easier to type. Here is the picture compare the screen of Titan and HD7, also the size of the keyboard.
By the end of the day, i found out something sound stupid to me and maybe for American user also. This device is from UK, so, i think Microsoft put a different version of Microsoft Tellme in it, or this phone OS version/firmware is just retarded enough to not recognize my voice of command.
Sorry, because i am not American, my English is not that perfect, but when my old T-Mobile USA HD7 can understand my foreigner voice and do exactly what i want, there isn't a point that the Titan can't.
Here is the video i recorded:
http://youtu.be/ZdKlkckr73M
(maybe you will have a good laugh because of my english, lol)
When i tried to tell Titan to open an application (not a built-in Apps) like HTC Hub, it is nearly impossible for the phone to recognize it, and it just keep saying that it didn't catch that or i don't have the application installed on it. and it is more stupid, when i speak to both HD7 and Titan, the HD7 does recognize, but not the Titan. I am not sure this is Software-Related issue or Hardware-Related Issue, or my English is just retarded somehow. LOL.
But when i tried to talk to the phone to text some one or open basic apps, it does its job really good.I am not sure what is the problem here but i will need several other US Customer who have the UK version to confirm this with me. the version of UK also have a different respond sound with US version.
And yes, i even found out, that there is no Turn-By-Turn Voice Navigation for me here, the Unites States of America, where my HD7 can talk whole day and take me go around St.Pete. I tried to tap the screen several times and nothing happen. I also mailed HTC Technical Support and post on Windows Phone forum about this issue.
The Phone comes with the standard HTC headphone , which is hated by people
That is end for my Tuesday Experience, tomorrow, there will be test on Battery Useagle and jean, pocket friendly...

Very good news, I impatiently wait the mine
Thanks for providing this review, it is sounding like a really good device so far.
I am really eager to get hold of one of these
really nice! Has the Titan more option and functions in the photo settings menu?
Okay, wednesday.
I went out with 70% of battery and returned with 30%, from 7AM to 3PM, light use, Wifi On, Games for 30 mins, 45 mins on IE, medium light, using XDA apps for about 20 mins and whole bunch of other stuffs.
I think this battery really impressed me. With my HD7 Full charge, i can easily get lower than 20% with light use in day. So yes, Battery performance is good. You can get it full charge by the morning and have it through day 2 night (light use).
Pocket: I wear jeans almost everyday, so, the HD7 fit my pocket nicely, also the Titan. I feel like almost no different between stucking HD7 or Titan in my pocket. They are both hard to pull out when you sit, especially in the car with the seat belt on. Which is common issue of big phone.
Also visit AT&T Store today to ask about 3G Frequency, and they seem to be very strange with the Titan, they don't even know the plan of AT&T on Titan. They seem to know nothing about the Frequency compatibility of the phone. They just give me the answer that my Titan will not get 3G on AT&T, while this phone support 850mhz on HSPA, which is the standard of AT&T 3G Frequency at United States. I am not really happy with the low-tech and useless advise from the "technican" at AT&T store. I will take an AT&T Simcard from Somebody tomorrow and take a test if it can receive 3G Signal.
I returned home and decide to try the Voice Command to open stuffs on HD7 and Titan again, and this time, i had a score of 8-1 to HD7, i tried my best in English pronunciation, but only HD7 did recognize my voice, not the Titan.
HTC Support is trying to tell me to softreset the Phone, and Reset back to Factory Setting, which i have done several times already. Maybe my voice is retarded so the phone can't recognize it. I will sell it to XDA-Member here or Ebay after the review, who ever come first. So if you are interested, just PM me.
I have the new video are being uploaded now.
Tomorrow will be the request of you guys. And i decide not to use it full week, so you guys who will buy it will have a fresh device.

Did you change the region?
Did you change the region. I believe the speech recognition engine that is being used processes the language differently based on region. The british accent probably requires different voice patterns to process. I noticed in your youtube video that the Titans speech replies have a british accent. So I assume the speech recognition is also using british speech patterns.
I googled this question and found something similiar that seems to match my same thoughts on the issue. Unfortunately, I don't think it solved the problem.

HTC Titan on Amazon
I just bought an unlocked HTC Titan from Amazon today (from 3rd party company Expansys).
http://www.expansys-usa.com/htc-titan-windows-phone-7-5-smartphone-unlocked-black-221944/
I'm assuming that it's compatible with AT&Ts 3G network, but after reading your post today, I'm a little worried. The specs show that it supports the same 3G bands as AT&T, so I'm hopeful that you are able to get the 3G bands working tomorrow when you try the AT&T sim card.
Please update us tomorrow. I'm very interested to find out. Thanks for your great week long review!

according to 2 "high-level" guy at XDA (drkfngthdragnlrd and prjkthack, our Titan will be able to get 3G on AT&T, since the phone does support HSPA/WCDMA 850mhz Frequency, which is match with AT&T Standard 3G Frequency.
This article right here was posted on 2009:
http://www.intomobile.com/2009/02/24/att-3g-network-going-850mhz-nationwide-by-2010/
I strongly believe that the Titan will get the 3G on AT&T. I will keep you guys posted about my experience.
I also found out the phone you buy on Amazon , which cost $700 if i am not wrong. But oh well, good luck if you have the UK version , which you can talk English to, have no idea if you have the German version or something like that, LOL.
It propably won't be long before there will be a USA version of an XDA ROM that you can flash. So maybe soon, your phone will recognize you again.

Well, Microsoft tellme is a nice feature to have, i don't really use it like really often. , because i know i am foreigner, and my English skill is not good, so, sometime, you mean to talk in the good way, but the phone understand it in bad way...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RiU8GPlsZqE
Look at that video, you probably laugh you ass off , but that is common issue of foreigner like me, but i am so happy that my english skill is not that extremely terrible like the guy in the video.
But it is useful to hear and reply the messege without taking the phone out.
and yes, i also hope XDA can have a custom rom, or someway to install the US ROM version, and get update through Zune for it. The Goldcard Technique is no longer useable on Titan when it has no MicroSD card.

The screen is fabulous and is a very high quality SLCD panel.
For me, the battery life is close to double my HD7. Partly because its a new battery, but it is fantastic. This is my first smartphone (and I have had a few) that gets close to lasting a second day let alone gets into a second day!

ok...thanks for the info
Hey guys,
I've received a Lumia 800 a few days ago and noticed something odd about the display. Sometimes the whole content of the display is moved to the left, and the part that is now out of view is then located on the right side of the screen. I could not reproduce this problem. Since the phone is working perfectly great I don't really want to send it in for a problem that might be caused by software issues... Should I be worried about this problem?
To make it more clear, here is a quick mockup of this error:
Regards Chris
I've noticed this twice so far, it happens as fast as a blink, when the whole interface shifts then moves back to normal almost instantly. I'd expect it to be fixed in a software update.
Thanks for your answer. I was really surprised when this first happened. But since I'm not the only one with this problem I'll wait for an software update.
Have seen that too. I think this can be fixed with a FW update. How can we report that problem to Nokia?

I have also noticed the same thing, although it stays like that for less than a second. Hopefully a software update will fix it.
I won't take my phone to a service point anytime soon, since this is a very rare occuring problem. But I think I'm on the newest firmare/software:
OS-Version: 7.10.7740.16
Firmware-Rev.: 1600.2479.7740.11451
Hardware-Rev.: 112.1402.2.3
Bootloader: 7.35.0.0
Chip-SOC-Version: 0.74.2.1
Same problem here, event on the start logo NOKIA.
I'm experiencing the same problem.
Most viewable in the start nokia splash screen.
I dunno if I'm on the last firmware, but I'm branded Vodafone.
I'm having exactly the same thing... it's almost like gpu driver isn't aligning correct or something like that...
I've noticed this as well. I'm on the latest FW update (11451). As you other guys have said it's not that annoying and it goes away in less than a second so I will not take care of the problem unless it's solved with a future FW update.
ok, I have now noticed that this seems to become worse... Sometimes my display stays this way for several seconds... I just contacted the Nokia support team to check if I can get my device replaced, just to be safe...
And what did they say ?
Nothing yet. That's because today is an official holiday here in germany, and i doubt that the support team will work on weekends. So I think we'll have to wait untill monday for an answer...
I have the same problem with my unbranded lumia 800, any solution?!
Guys got some issues, my lumia it shows me at ##634# that my full battery it's only 935 mha?? Shouldn't be 1450 or something like that???
Sorry seems you got a faulty phone. Contact Nokia I believe they will replace it since officially yours is affwcted by battery bug since full capacity shows under 1000mAh.

Thk for replying, but nokia Romania can't replace my phone since this phone isn't available to my country, so i decided to take the problem in my hands. I replace the firmware with a new one and now everything it's fine i will tell u guys if i see any battery improvments
Hey Guys, trying to fix the green camera problem here, and I know 99% of people (who are most likely right) would tell me to RMA it to the destruction experts at Asus, but let's say there was reason to believe it wasn't the hardware rear camera piece with some degree of confidence. What I'm trying to do here is downgrade the camera firmware specifically. I was on .28, camera was on 0x9900 (I think, pretty sure not at home), do I downgraded via method, I'm back on HC yet camera firmware remains the same new version. Anyone know how to force a camera firmware flash/downgrade. I know it may very well be, and probably is a dead end but at this point my rear camera can't get any more broker. Thanks guys!

It's a question, so the Q&A section fits perfectly. :cyclops:
Yea, in my early morning stupor I posted it in the Galaxy S2 forums before it was moved. Any ideas guys? I don't even think the camera firmware is appropriate for the ROM I have installed...was going to try various official prime roms til they match but if I could figure out how to force/trigger the camera firmware flash it'd be IMMENSELY helpful.

Is the camera a common problem on the prime? I barely used mine but noticed since starting the CM10 nightlies that it stopped working. I only get a green & pink static display. I searched the relevant forum for a fix but found none. Is it likely the hardware?
VERY common problem. First thought to be a hardware problem I have reason to believe that A) The camera firmware is stored on the rear camera module (that is, if it were transplanted between 2 primes, one with HC and one with the latest .28 build, you'd see a camera firmware mismatch that follows the CAMERA, not the tablet) and B) I believe a seemingly good camera can behave badly either due to firmware mismatch between ROM and camera (that is, you update your tablet, but the camera rom update fails) OR, what I believe to be slightly more likely is that CERTAIN camera firmwares have this problem. What would be worse about this problem is that it would seem to have been CAUSED by Asus' updates, possibly as a result of updating the tablet but not the camera.
As of right now, I do not have enough proof to state the above definitively (but working on it). Here's what I know so far:
a) Downgrading to HC (8.8.3.33 I think) does NOT downgrade the camera firmware
b) I have discovered a command that I believe DOES update the firmware, yet it fails upon checking version numbers. See Below
# mv TF201-RS_M6Mo-0x9891.bin TF201-RS_M6Mo-0x9901.bin
mv TF201-RS_M6Mo-0x9891.bin TF201-RS_M6Mo-0x9901.bin
# /system/bin/isp_fw_update -isp
/system/bin/isp_fw_update -isp
Current camera isp version = TF201-0x9900
New camera isp ROM version = TF201-0x9891
Current camera isp version:TF201-0x9900
The camera isp ROM is older than current camera isp ROM
Exit camera isp FW update procedure
# PWD
PWD
PWD: not found
# pwd
pwd
/system/etc/firmware/camera
#
The first commands are me trying to fool the program by simply renaming the file, but you can see the result (this is on HC for WW ROM). Obviously I failed to fool it
There are more than a few tricks I mean to try. Ideally I'd like to decompile isp_fw_update so that it doesn't check version for downgrade. I've attached it here to see if anyone else can shed some light on the subject. I'm considering also hex-editing the camera firmware for the ROM (located in /system/etc/firmware/camera) that isp_fw_update looks at TO flash and editing the firmware number in the file. Wish me luck, and if anyone else can offer any help please jump in. I'll let you guys know what I find! (note, extract file from the zip, stupid xda uploader...)
EDIT: I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY DOWNGRADED THE FIRMWARE, YET PROBLEM REMAINS. I haven't given up yet though! Gonna try slowing working my way up the firmware flash trail again from here and see if I get lucky
Hope you can fix it. Me too got a green camera issue...

Please let us know if this works because I have the problem as well. I was going to RMA but wanted to see it the next firmware fixes it just in case it is a software issue plus I don't use the camera all that often. If not I'm going to RMA.
FYI - I had a great experiance when I had to RMA because all the blacks on my display turned red. They fixed that and turnaround time was less than 2 weeks.

Yea...regarding RMA, I've seen MORE than enough reports of both smashed, scratched primes as well as unnecessary motherboard replacements (which thanks to Asus' ****ty devs, breaks the unlock tool) to avoid that whole process. I've also heard of people having one thing fixed and another being broken. Honestly I can't bring myself to mail my tablet to those screw-ups having seen picture after picture of their "work". I'd do just about anything to get them to SELL me a working camera as I trust my own work 1000x more than the high-school drop-outs they've outsourced RMA to. Already e-mailed Tien asking if I could PURCHASE and PAY for a working camera module so I could fix it myself and he basically told me to screw myself. Awesome to know even when you're willing to work WITH a company to correct their mistakes they tell you to go to hell. Awesome.
Anyways, still trying my luck with firmware. Updated to .14, flashed camera firmware, still no luck Not finished trying yet though!
EDIT: Another good idea I have that I can't really try (at least not until parts start ending up on ebay) would be to swap in the camera for the TF700/TF300. I realize it might not work, but I figure the chances that it plugs into a standardized plug into the board is fairly high (high enough that I'd gamble on buying a camera module). As far as the firmware goes, there are a number of ways to go about handling that. I could easily unlock the device, never update from Asus again and it should never flash over the camera firmware. Another option would be to place the camera firmware for the TF700/300 in the same location as the normal firmware is in the TF201 and let it flash that file that way. I feel I've got a good enough handle on how firmware updating works (for the isp) that I can say with a good degree of confidence that would work.

First time I sent my Prime in for several issues, it came back with an unknown serial number (changed mobo for no reason), adhesive / scratching / denting on the device, wifi not fixed. Then I sent it again, still unable to unlock.
All the money they spent fixing my Prime, they could have just given me a new one. Replaced screen 2x, replaced mobo, replaced casing, replaced camera, replaced wifi modules...
Useless people..
I got the phone 8 months ago(brand new), and the battery is just dead or idk, i tried calibrating It but didn't work. Its time to replace It? I just want to sell this and buy any other phone, 48 mins of screen on time is stupid.

Motorola made a ( probably accidential ) bug in the code which overcharged batteries on pre-Oreo kernels. So yeah, you probably have to replace the battery ( I got my Moto Z in August 2017 and the battery started dying in February-March ) . But with the newer kernel and by maintaining a charge between 30 and 80%, the new battery should last longer.
As for regular battery life: unlock the bootloader, install a custom rom and apply the Swift Black Substratum theme.
I myself don't know why Motorola didn't make an optional all-black theme for a flagship with a 2650 mAh battery but whatever.

Ok, so if i replace the battery and use 8.0 It shouldn't wear down that quickly again, am i right? And if i send the phone to warranty and they send me a new one i must update to oreo as fast as possible? Im thinking of doing that because the screen has a lot of Burn in ( the navbar is always present and with the 9.0 update It Will look horrible) i must also add that i started seeing this effects after the 8.0 update, before It lasted a short time ( as any smartphone with a 2k display and 2,600 mah) but never turned off with 30% or so

I doubt the warranty covers "defects caused by prolonged use" ( that's the term often used, not mine ) but you can always try.
Yeah, as soon as you get a replacement, get at least to stock Oreo if you don't want custom ROMs. But as long as the UI has mostly white in it, your SOT won't be as good as with a black Substratum theme.

Do you have evidence for this. I'm just curious.

I was shown the lines(s) in the kernel which most likely didn't start regulating the charge after the battery got to 90 % or so, thus slowly damaging the battery every time the owner would charge over 90% or even when they'd leave the phone charging over night ( don't make me dig through the old kernel, I'm already sick of the new one ) .
There are tons of articles and videos that explain how batteries work and to which point you should charge them, google it.
As for black themes on AMOLED screens: OLED screens turn off pixels that should show black colours ( thus making pure blacks and also saving some juice from the SOT drain ) .

You can get it on Aliexpress.
The seller I got it from is gone but another one popped up.
HERE.
They can't legally show Moto logos on the page but you can obviously see they were covered poorly on purpose.

I think the problem was the charger, i got a xiaomi a1 charger from a friend and it will work normally. I´m still only getting about 1-2 hours of SOT but the phone doesn't turn off at any battery %, i'm getting a new battery and a new charger (probably one with qualcomm qc not a motorola turbopower one)

You probably don't need to build in a new battery yourself: In Germany the battery problem is well known and all devices with this problem will be repaired by Motorola service - even with unlocked bootloader!
So I think Motorola is well aware worldwide of this problem!

@Xplow
Oh damn. Sry to here this
I've sent mine for repair, and it was in a service for a month, got it back with new battery and a new motherboard. I've been using it for a week now and it's pure pleasure to see the phone with battery that lasts for a whole day (I had to charge it 3 times a day before, and it was only 6 months old)
And for my sake, I am done with Motorola and their support. For me they deny service unless I pay for it, but it isn't even my fault, so I am going back to where I came from and have been happiest: Samsung, S9+ specifically is what I will go for this time. Everyone that gets denied service, I recommend you to leave Motorola and Lenovo behind once and for all and buy something that is worth your money and also can provide you service when needed when it is their fault. Motorola is already slowly dying because of decisions like this, so let them die.
@The Marionette I really hope that you can at some point make an AEX ROM for the S9+, I really enjoy the ROM a lot

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about, a lot of repair shops in my country try their best to disprove your warranty unless the device is dead beyond the ability to read anything from it.
And since we gave our IMEI to Lenovo while unlocking the bootloader, it makes the situation even worse unless the people at the repair shop live under a rock.
@yanniclord There are already Treble ports of custom roms for the Galaxy S9(+), it's only a matter of time till someone ports AEX.
Treble makes things a lot easier and there are various guides in the Treble section of the XDA forums, I bet you can try porting it yourself without much difficulty.
I hope you will enjoy the phone to its fullest, I'm quite envious.

Thanks, I will try my best to port it at some point. Anyways, that is the same issue for me. Like, I talked directly to Motorola Support Live Chat in Europe, and once they asked me if my bootloader was unlocked and then I answered yes, then they tried to tell me it is all my fault EVEN if I could point out countless of sources of proof for this issue, I mean I linked to countless threads where people that DIDN'T have their bootloader unlocked had the EXACT SAME problem, yet they tried telling me it was my fault. I was so close to reporting it to the Norwegian Consumer Protection Agency, but it isn't worth my time, I will just instead let Motorola and Lenovo die once and for all, because if they do business practices like this, then they aren't worth my time or money, which in the end will prove us right when they die. Lenovo will hardly die because of the many other sectors it has, but Motorola is nearing in on its end and it's halting on its last leg.
I hope that decisions like this also make them loose their final leg and so they die. Anti-Consumer practices are always punished in the end, and this decision from Motorola to deny people free repair of battery issues caused by THEM and not their customers, will hopefully be the last thing needed to kill them. I was a big fan of Motorola back then when I heard they were making a Phone that could be "modded" with additions just slapped onto its back, but if they then prove to be unable to handle the issues and also seem to be unable to finish their competition THEY initiated (the Keyboard Mod from Liangchen, Motorola won't help him bring it to the market and he almost failed financially because of Motorola suddenly dropping all support on the Campaign they launched themselves), then I think it is best for Motorola to die and slowly fade into obscurity.
Goodbye Motorola, won't ever be seeing your greedy, unappreciative and sad anti-consumer practices again. It was nice while it lasted, which, to be exact, was for 1.5 years. See you never again

Can you elaborate, because Motorola online support ditched me directly when they saw the unlocked bootloader ... I live (and the phone was bought) 8n Germany
@apocalypse_bg
You have to call them and ask for a goodwill repair. It will take some days but probably they will agree and send you a mail with details (they have to add some remarks in their internal systems)
(in Deutsch: Anruf bei der Moto Hotline und auf das Akkuproblem verweisen. Dann sagen: offener Bootloader und du willst einen Kulanzantrag stellen, weil du in der Gewährleistung bist)

If I remember correctly, EU legislation forces retailers to fix phones (including faulty batteries that are in the 12 month consumable warranty) which are in the warranty period (24 months in Romania) regardless of bootloader status. You should go to the place you bought the phone from instead of Motorola since retailers mostly have their own service centers and don't rely on Motorola's tech support. At least that's how it is in my country (worked in retail for 3 years).
I own Moto Z for 20 months. 4 months left under warranty. And in the past couple of days battery has gone from bad to worse. Phone has always been 100% full stock, not rooted.
I have been rather careful with the battery and keeping my charge between 15 and 90% most of the time, and never left it too long on charger. After upgrade to Oreo and moderate to heavier use with the following settings:
- either WiFi on or Mobile data on
- location, location scanning, NFC, Bluetooth - all off
- dark theme used, screen brightness never above 50%, used in an area with very good or excellent 3G/4G signal, WiFi never too far from modem
- 2 Gmail accounts, Viber + WhatsApp. No Facebook, no Snapchat, no Instagram. Up to 3 YouTube videos a day, 20-30 mins of talk per day and mostly surfing the web or exchanging messages.
I now can achieve anywhere between 1:15 to 1:45 hrs SoT. Before Oreo it was more than 4 hrs SoT with exactly same settings. On top of this:
- the right side of the screen has detached from housing (could be because of the battery swelling)
- I get random shutdowns when battery is around 30% or less
- Battery percentage stays the same if phone is just lying around (even if left overnight). As soon as I pick it up and use, battery percentage is falling rapidly
- When I want to reboot my phone for whatever reason, battery percentage suddenly drops ~40% or more. So if I want to reboot my phone with 50% of battery, phone will show 10% after reboot and will shut down after some use. Yesterday I watched YouTube for 30mins, been surfing for 30 mins, rebooted my phone and it showed 4% left. So after 1 hour of use I had to put it on charger.
- phone is charging at unrealistic speed, up to 30% in less than 3 minutes
- hotspot option when chosen to work on 5.4 Ghz does not work, always transmits on 2.4 GHz
- when surfing and using more apps simultaneously, phone is hot as hell and gets really uncomfortable for use
Today I'm going to left phone for service but I'm not expecting much since in our country they will probably tell me that this is because of heavier use... #will post update what will they tell me
and all I can say is Goodbye Moto Z. It's been fun using but dying just after 20 months with moderate use is unforgiving for price I paid.
