I woke up today and looked at my Epic Touch 4G and it told me that there was an update for EL29.
Using this guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728 I rooted my phone a few weeks ago.
This update notification will no go away and when I accidentally clicked it it kind of messed up my phone because of the root. I had to go to my recovery and reset it and restore the back up.
How can I get this update notification to go away or how can I update my phone without messing it up again?
If it's not to much trouble, could you please email me if you have an answer? I will not be at my computer all day. [email protected]
Thanks so much in advanced! <3

Today i woke up to the new Update for the vibrant. So of course i tried to update it. My phone is rooted if that makes a difference running everything else stock though. I did the one click root or whatever it was. Well i clicked update and sat my phone down as i got ready. Come back its at the boot screen where it says Vibrant and Samsung in white. I figured it was just loading the new files and just taking a little long. Well by the time i got to school it was still like that so i removed the battery so it would not overheat. Replaced the battery booted up and stalled on boot screen again. This time it made the opening music but never transitioned screens. So i took battery out replaced it and went into clockwork and did a nandroid. Reset it same thing happened. Tried that with three of my backups of previous dates. all failed. so i decided to wipe all data of the phone or factory reset. still stuck at boot screen.
If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. if you need any other information just let me know.
same thing here. i've done all those steps. when i get home, im going to try and update the JI6 update through ODIN. i'll let you know what happens.

Allright, well I am a new andriod user, and about a month or so ago i rooted my phone. I am very technology minded. Found a page that showed me how to do it and a link to a doanload for a folder with the needed files. Anyways I have a lg optimus lte through bell. Yes I am in canada. So last week i decided to unroot my phone seeing as I wasnt using the super user features that I put on the phone. Needless to say now my wifi will not turn on and I have followed to the letter the instructions on how to factory reset the phone and when I do, i get to the factory reset part, hit the power button twice and then the screen flashes to the lg splash screen and just sits there frozen. I do a battery pull and the phone works but it is still not reset or rooted. Anyways what I am trying to say is i need some help reseting this phone back to factory so i can get full use out of it. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you ever change your ROM/have to flash back a stock ROM? Or did you just root it and keep the same one?

Stuck in "loop" after OTA 2.3.5 update on rooted Photon. Any way to get out of this?
Just curious if anyone knows any trick to get out of this loop.
I've got a rooted photon with 2.3.4, and I've been getting the notification to update to 2.3.5 from Sprint.
The message states that "a new update is available for your phone", and I've just been clicking the "install later" option because I know it doesn't work if my phone is rooted and I have a custom boot loader.
So I think this morning when my alarm was buzzing to wake me up the software update screen popped up and I accidentally clicked "Install now" when I was trying to snooze the alarm.
It rebooted into my bootloader, says it's trying to apply the update, and then says that it failed.
When I reboot the phone, it boots up like everything is normal, I get to my regular homescreen and then it realizes that the update didn't apply so it restarts immediately into bootloader, and the update fails all over again.
Does anyone know of any way to get out of this loop? Like, there has to be some flag flipped in the main system that's telling it that it needs to reboot to apply the OTA update. Is there a way to turn this flag off so I can keep using my phone like it was?
In the mean time I did a nandroid backup of the current state, and then restored an old nandroid backup from several months ago so I could use the phone for now (which sucks cuz I've made alot of little changes since then).
I haven't been on the site for a while, and I'm really busy throughout the day so I don't really have that much time to search through dozens of old threads, even through I tried looking for similar issues (considering if a fix for this problem exists it was probably discussed when this OTA update first popped up several months ago).
I'm sure this question has been asked a bunch so flame away if you must, but I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction if a fix or trick exists to get out of this situation without having to completely wipe my whole phone and start over.
Thank you,

I updated my phone last night and am trying to load my personal email off an exchange onto my phone. When I go to encrypt my phone it will go through and finish 100% then reboot again and when it starts back up it says that there was an error and it was interupted. Then obviously it factory resets and I have to reload everything on my phone which is not a huge deal since I just updated it last night and have everything backed up. I am not a super tech person but have learned enough to be able to update roms and such. Any help or insight on how to get my email working would be great! Not sure if the ODEX is creating a problem or something else possibly.
Thank you for any help and sorry if this is a stupid question!
Hey guys I rooted my phone via kingroot a couple of days ago with no problems. I was thinking about installing a rom, but didnt even get to the strage of downloading one yet. I wanted to have a quick look in the system recovery menu so I did, then just rebooted. Since then my screen zoom has been greatly enlarged and i cant moved around the screen to select other things or anything. I even factory restored my phone and it's the same. Please help!!
