I recently purchased the Nokia Lumia 800 on amazon. Everything works fine. I just have some trouble with the MMS. I receive pictures from one person but I cant send any pictures or receive it from anybody else. Anybody know how this is possible?
What phone did you come from? Depends on provisioning. I would have them update to your phone or something with a gsm phone functionality. If you came from IPhone it could cause this as it did for me age I moved to the lumia 800.

Just download Nokia Network Setup App from the Marketplace, it will fix all the provider specific issues.

Does anyone know how to get Visual Voicemail to work correctly on the lumia 800? Everything else works but that and was wondering if anyone else got it working. Or at least knows of a fix. Thanks in advance.
Things may have changed since I last looked this up, but afaik no.
Since AT&T is a giant pile of **** they have blocked WP7 from accessing it claiming their systems don't support it. Now this is a flat out lie since the protocol WP7 uses to access it is the same as the one the iPhone and Blackberry devices use.

Well that blow's I thought it might work since my iPhone 4S is my contract phone and I bought a Lumia from Ebay.
I received an unlocked Lumia 800 today and put my iPhone 4S sim card in. It recognized visual voicemail and asked for my password, but it just keeps saying Syncing.... and never shows anything and I noticed the normal vm indicator isn't working now. Any suggestions for getting VVM to work or at least to disable it on the Lumia 800?

Bit of a hassle though.
I updated my Lumia 800 to Tango with Cab Update method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737907
Firmware revision number: 1750.0805.8773.12220
I do have Internet Sharing in Settings, but it doesn't really work.
I turn it on and try to share my 3G network, I can even successfully use my iPod Touch to connect to the share network, however, I can not access the internet on my iPod Touch in actual.
I believe that my carrier is not blocking internet sharing, because I can use my old phone to create a hotspot without any issues.
I tested the Internet Sharing function again, it works now. But the network speed is unreasonably slow.
The Contact Share feature is not visible.
Flip-to-silence is working.
Is it because the current firmware is not stable?
Or is this update not suitable for my device?
Nokia Care Suite recognize the product code of my device as 059M658. BTW, Which firmware should I use to flash back, if I want to?
Many Thanks
Can't share contacts either, but my Internet Sharing is working. I can visit google and search with my MacBook connected to my Lumia 800 Hotspot.
How did you active flip to silent? I can't find it...

I don't know how to active flip-to-silent. I guess this is set by default. I just flipped it, then it switched to silence mode.

Contact Share will be an App available later in Nokia Collection.
You can flash any firmware you want as along as it's made for the same model (i.e. RM-801)

It just works automatically for incoming calls. The ringtone gets muted when the phone is flipped, however it still vibrates.
If you use the old trick with pushing any volume button - both the ringing and vibrating get muted.

Any chance to disable it? I accidentally muted my phone 2-3 times now at work :/
you need the nokia oem update. ICS and the other stuff isn't a part of tango! the nokia firmware update unlocks all those features. if you have a RM-801 device, you can find the link to the nokia OEM update here on XDA.

where did you buy it? in europe there is only the rm-801. what's your product code? it is printed on the sim-card holder. something like "059...." you can also find the rm-801 sticker on the lumia package. if it is a rm-819 device (USA/Asia), then it should say rm-819

Well probably the same way I do You just take your phone out of your pocket and don't really care which way it is around, then put it down. I've done it many times.
I suppose if people are at work and do it they obviously don't want to answer their phone
I am from india and i am not able to call into any toll free numbers from my lumia 920 which i bought from abudhabi. Is anyone experiencing the same or is it just me? Is it because i bought it from outside india. I tried from my other mobile numbers and the toll free numbers is all working well and call goes smoothly from same carrier BSNL when tried from my other mobile phones( android & old Nokia N82). I think some settings is messed up or some problems as i bought from outside India. Can someone help me how to solve this problem also does anyone else experiencing the same?
Thanks,
Jithin.
try to find other lumia 920 in india and try to make a toll call to see if it's an issue with your phone or it's a general issue among the lumia 920 devices
I have a Lumia 920 from Microsoft BUILD 2012 which I bricked via battery-only factory reset. I repaved with AT&T RM-820; phone works fine but now of course shows up on my AT&T account as a Lumia 920. I've handed it down to my son, and would like to operate it on his existing $9.95 family plan no-data account. I think the only way to do this is to get it back to an unrecognized phone and keep data connection, right? So....I'm thinking I could repave it as a Rodgers, trust son to keep data connection turned off and I'm good to go?
If you just want a phone then why even bother with the Lumia? Just buy a cheap flip phone and be done with it. The Lumia without Data is like trying to ride a bicycle uphill with no pedals. It just won't work. It's needs a data connection to operate properly.
It is also not the ROM that identifies the phone to your provider. It is the SIM card that identifies the phone and the IEMI number that the provider sees anytime the phone is connected to their network.

If you don't want the phone to use the cellular data connection just turn data connection off in settings->cellular. That way the phone can still be used on wifi networks but you won't have to pay for a data package

AT&T detects phones by IMEI, the ROM has nothing to do with it.
A smartphone on an AT&T account requires a data plan. No way around that. Even if you were to turn data off and not use it, AT&T still detects the phone as a smartphone and will add a data package to your account if it doesn't already have one.
That being said, a non-AT&T smartphone can be added to an account without a data plan initially, but the moment it is detected as a smartphone (which could happen for any number of reasons), a data package will be added and the IMEI will be flagged as a smartphone.

That is correct.
My BUILD 920 still runs the BUILD ROM now shows up as Lumia 920 as well. Looks like AT&T expanded its IMEI database to include all Lumia 920 now.

I was promoted and installed the Black update on my ATT 920 which was flashed to a Rogers ROM then back to the ATT DEV ROM. Not sure if its available for the normal ATT 920 Black via OTA yet or not but seems to be listed on the download too for both product codes in NCS if anyone's up for manually flashing it.
All in all, not to bad for ATT this round, only a week or two behind everyone else as apposed to the 3-4 months last time.

Thank u guys...
I will try to update my existing European(French) ROM by OTA or by NSU..
And guys if any of you get the latest Lumia Black ROM(Indian Version) download link for offline flashing, then please let me know.
It fixed my wireless charging issues and added custom notifications for SMS and email. So far it's all good for me.
The only real app update I got was to the Preview for Developers app as well as Skype. The first not really doing anything yet, but looks like its in preparation for the next release. haven't really tested Skype yet. Though I did have a bunch of updates when I initially loaded the Preview for Developer app and updated to GDR3.
Still having some minor issues with controlling the volume on what appears to be single channel audio podcast. But nothing a reboot doesn't fix.
To delete.
Anyone able to flash the official AT&T Black update OVER the Amber Dev ROM? Tried but getting the FFU error.

If your Hardware Product Code is that AT&T, so then try to update the Product Code with NSU, for example.
Not a Lumia 920 owner, but have the Lumia 928 and it too got the update.
I just love how sexy this phone is. Sadly because its a Verizon exclusive (Unlocked) it isn't perfect on MVNO. Works great on T-mobile except that to send messages you have to set it to EDGE.
Works perfect on Net10, internet, SMS, MMS
Almost perfect on H2O, internet, SMS, (can't receive mms)
So I have it as my spare/secondary device. Can't wait to see how it WP8.1 comes out. My main device is Nexus 5, but just love how cool and minimalist the Lumia is.
