This is totally shocking to me, I've had 4 Samsung phones In the past and it always seems like GPS sucked or wouldn't lock on. However on note gps locks perfectly in near seconds! Amazing!

EDIT: Yeah, what planoman said
Yup lock within 5 seconds
From the GPS Chip maker Broadcom:
The Samsung GALAXY Note is one of the first smart phones delivering multiple constellation support to the handset market. By leveraging the United States NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS), Russia's Globalnaya Navigazionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema (GLONASS), Japan's Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) and the Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS), users have access to 59 satellites currently in orbit — nearly twice the coverage of GPS alone.
I am darn near ecstatic that GPS worked right out of the box! I nearly got lost when I used GPS when I got my infuse. Good job Sammy!

Wow this is great to hear. My first Android Samsung was a Vibrant and we all know how good that GPS was.
+1 whatever the reason, the GPS is ridiculously fast on this phone...
I don't know what it is about the Note, but they actually beat every single other phone (android, iphone, and others) in terms of GPS performance.
And I'm talking like 12 sat locks instantly with 3m accurcary. It's ridiculous.

They probably got tired from all the cries about some of their other products being sub-par and said "You know what... you want your freakin GPS to work?! WE'LL MAKE YOUR FREAKIN GPS WORK. EAT IT... now what? NOW CRY ABOUT YOUR GPS!"
(because the company as a whole thought that way...)
Anyway...
Sitting at my desk where I am now I used to get maybe 1 or 2 sats on my Inspire... 5 or 6 on my a500.. Note I get 20 sats... and I'm not even outside. It's exceptional to say the least. Very pleased.

So far yes.
Yes, absolutely. I can see this potentially breaking my record for longest-owned phone.
As long as the gps is good, and doesn't cut out mid-journey (****ty DHD), it'll be perfect.

Open the app drawer, then press menu and choose edit. Now you can longpress the dock icons, widget style, then drag them to the app drawer. You can put whatever you want in the dock, although I believe only 3 apps (because the drawer needs an icon)

TouchWiz lasted about an hour for me too. It was actually the same problem that made me download ADW but even though I worked out how to do it, there's no reason to stick with it. The app drawer was such a mess, 6 pages of unsorted crap and no apparent way to sort alphabetically. I'm hearing more and more about Golauncher, I must try it.

3 questions from a future potential buyer:
1 - Does this finally have a Notification LED? (or do we have to use another backlight hack?)
2 - Does the phone get warm/hot during browsing especially with whites backgrounds? (Any temperature posts would be extremely welcomed, since this was an annoying issue with my Galaxy S)
3 - Does the phone feel too big? (length wise)

Pretty much what I was wondering. Just sold my Cappy for $500 and was looking for the next beast of a phone. Since the Atrix is uh.."limited", the sensation not out as yet, I guess the SGS 2 is probably my best bet, but a few questions, Im in Canada and:
1. Would it work on Rogers?
2. Am I even able to get it over here? 2a. And how?
How do people have the phone, it hasn't even come out?

1. No
2. Not noticably
3. It's not comfortable for long phone calls (as I discovered last night), but for general usage it's about the right size for me. Despite it's gargantuan scree it is so svelte and quite ergomical, so it doesn't feel ridiculous in the hand.
I used the universal mount that you can get for about $10. Installed a radio that has a stereo mini input. Used 1/8" flat bar for the bracket and a butane torch to bend it, JB Weld to hold the pieces together and bolted the finished product to a support piece behind the dash. It took some work and a lot of trial and error. My bluetooth GPS arrives today.

Any idea if I can use two blue tooth devices with my gtablet at once. Would like to get that blue tooth gps and use it concurrently with an obd II transmitter (and torque application).
Thanks in advance!
Blue Tooth
Here is what I have running.
I am using the bluetooth GPS unit and I am also using the bluetooth OBD II scanner with the Torque app. Both devices work at the same time all while I play music.
To use the Navigation function of GoogleMaps, you must have a data connection. The way I make this happen is using my HTC EVO Shift for the data connection through wireless tether for root users.
I am still waiting for the tomtom app that will load the maps to your device and will navigate without needing a data connection. If you do not care about a data connection for GoogleMaps, your position will still be visible as a blue dot and it will move.
Don't forget to download BlueGPS. This app is what is used to allow the tablet to talk to the GPS unit. And it must be running before the Torque app and GoogleMaps are running.

I have the premium version (when they first released the new version, it was available for $10.00).
It has its quirks, but I generally like it.
I also have/used Copilot 8 before it. The new interface is a bit nicer.
There are only a few off-line navigation choices. None of them have great reviews.

Let's make this the official thread to post first impressions of this phone.
Going to T-Mobile today I was pretty much dead set on getting the GS II. I was sure nothing would deter me. I walked in there and toyed with both phones and my opinions changed drastically. I was pretty disappointed with the resolution and cheap plastic build of the GS II. The screen is big and bright but the low res almost kills it IMO. The HTC Amaze has a build similar to the Sensation which means its one of the best designed phones on the market. In the hand the difference is night and day. The Amaze feels like a Mercedes and the GS II a Toyota Camry if you catch my drift.
I owned a Sensation for roughly a month when it first came out. I loved the phone except the lagginess and the unresponsive screen issues. If this phone doesn't have those issues I will be a VERY happy camper. Not to mention it has more ram, a bigger battery, and NFC. Oh, and I also pulled down 11Mbps on a Speedtest inside my house! Imagine if I'm out somewhere in the open and have full 4G signal! I'm really surprised by how good the data speeds are.
So far the phone is snappy but I'll see how it holds up. Coming from a Nexus S I'm very happy with this phone. The camera is great too with those two physical buttons. The audio during video recording is rubbish though just like all HTC phones.

Could it be possible that some dev might cook up a ROM which could improve the audio in any way?
so far I am very happy with mine. Battery life is good (i turned off 'tell htc', 'find my phone' and 'fast boot') and its making a little difference as far as less data being used at idle.
I have some slight screen bleed from the bottom buttons, but it doesnt bother me. As i stated in another thread, no phone is going to be perfect, but this is the closest I think any android phone has come.
I can't wait for a OTA update to restore wifi calling as i live in a fringe network area. but i'm confident it will come.
I'm loving the camera buttons, the call quality is great, and i got 13.1mbps down on campus today in san diego. F yea!
3 quick questions:
Is the speaker phone loud enough?
Any wifi-death grip issues?
How about LAG???

Actually, this is the same thing basically word for word that happened with me today. My wife was actually shocked (mouth dropped) when I asked him to grab me the Amaze instead of the SGS2.
I didn't realize this thing was out already. I LOVE my glacier for the trackpad and hard camera button. I like the sensation for the big-ass screen. Amaze might be almost perfect because of the extra ram.
I'll wait to pick one up until cm7 is out.

The speaker is louder than my Nexus S (which has fantastic speakers IMO) but the quality of the sound is a little lower.
Haven't experienced any death grip issues, but then again, I don't completely cover my phone with my hands when holding it.

Hey everybody, I currently have a Bionic. It's actually running pretty good now after installing leaks. The main problem I have left is stutters every minute or two when streaming Slacker/Pandora to my car's headunit. Because of this I got Big Red to give me an early upgrade with limits on the phones I can choose. Right now the best phone I can choose is the Rezound. Anyone here have the Bionic prior to the Rezound? If so, what do you like better or worse about it? I have until Mon to make up my mind. Any bluetooth streaming problems? Any comments or opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance
BionicBlues
If it helps, I had the RAZR for 3 days before i got the Rezound,
The Screen is heads and shoulders above both the RAZRs and the Bionic's, Pentile can't even compare to this.
I haven't had any stutters on Bluetooth or on Pandora.
Battery life isn't fantastic but its good enough, I can get through the day with no charging and moderate 4g usage.
I have the Bionic and just bought the Rezound today... Very happy with my decision, here are some key differences...
1) Rezound Camera is Superior
2) Data & Voice at the SAME time! This is a huge bonus HTC has given us and nobody talks about it - smh
3) Screen is 2nd to none... I've owned A LOT of phones over the past 18 months including iPhone 4s, Nexus S, & Bionic. All claim to have great screens but I would put the Rezound on top followed by iPhone 4s & Nexus S.
4) HTC Sense is the best user interface by far for Android at this time...
5) umm... Dre Beats headphones and audio enhancements of course!
6) Rezound is just an all-around sexier phone ;-)
Hope this helps!

I was having a difficult time trying to decide between the Rezound and the Nexus, but the deal breaker on the Nexus for me is the no additional storage. That may not be a big deal for some people, but not having as an option sealed the deal on the Rezound for me.

There is a hacked version of Zumocast floating around in the XDA Forums to work with any device. I have Zumocast working on my Eeepad Transformer and my Rezound. Also I came from the Bionic and this phone is much better all around. I agree with everything Allareconnected said in his post.

Thanks nrage. That was my final piece. I remember that patched version now. I put that on my xoom. Come Monday when CS calls me back, I'll be getting my Rezound. I really haven't heard anything bad only positives. Too bad for the Bionic, this phone COULD be spectacular.

I also had the Bionic, but returned it that same week. The one thing that killed it was a grounding feedback noise whenever you connected a headphone. But over all, the Bionic is way out of its league compare to the trifecta.
The leaks cleared up my data issues and I never had the headphone noise. I really do like the screen too, I mean you can see it fine in direct sun. It's just the sub par camera and the bluetooth issues that are driving me crazy. The Rezound's display is beautiful and camera much better. The lack of root is kind of unsettling tho. I'm also worried that the majority of devs are going to flock to the GNex.

I'm concerned about dev support too..The Bionic made me a daily android phone blog reader since February, I was ready to buy one until I heard the rumors about the Vigor and now it's here (as the Rezound). I feel as if the stock launcher is the cause. I've been messing around with different launchers and have noticed that there isn't any lag on some of the others. Such as Zeam or even Launcher Pro
Anyone notice the auto brightness is really touchy? I feel like it is constantly adjusting, so I just turned it off.
Oh and Fruit Ninja with the s-pen isn't even fair
If you think that your skyrocket is small you should see my wifes iphone4 or my atrix after holding this thing!

Yeah the s-pen is gonna be very handy for alot of stuff...and for the hell of it I put my wife iphone next the note. Freaking tiny.lol
Sent from my awesome GALAXY NOTE..
I can't wait to line my Note side-by-side with my Streak, Aria, and Pre 3 once I get it. 2 giants and 2 midgets.
The aria is smaller lengthwise than our screen is widthwise I bet lmao

Yes that is something I noticed right away. My Atrix looks so small already. Hope I can get used to the size but I think I like it.
LTE is not in my area yet so I tried to see if I could just pop that sim in but no data worked just calls. Maybe the apn settings?

coming from a iP 3gs trying to run iOS 5, it takes a lot for me to notice lag anymore.

I laid my Aria flat across my Streak from left-to-right. It goes up to like the 4 capacitive buttons, then the rest sticks out.
I wouldn't be surprised if part of it still sticks out when it's laid sideways on the Note.
my wrist pops as I stretch my thumb out to reach the 'qwas' keys with my thumb.....and this thing is like "back pocket" big...but so gorgeous. Already noticed the pen only works on this, not even my tiny skyrocket.
This will be so sweet for remote desktop. no more Galaxy Tab to lug around.
I love this freaking phone so far!!! Web browsing is an absolute pleasure on this beast. I was shocked that it really doesn't take much to to get used to the S-Pen, get better every time I show someone how it works. Oh and LTE is the bomb in Atlanta!!!!!! On my second speed test inside the home depot I work at I got 50 mbps down and 12 mbps up!! SWEET!!!
