How do u do it

Root your phone then download Titanium Backup either freeze or uninstall tethering manager...
Then under APN's create one with the APN Phone and the rest blank but the bottom type should be internet and it'll work

Interestingly, I only had to freeze tetheringmanager.
Did not change anything else and it works fine...
Should I?
Thanks.

Well changing the APN Phone makes it so you don't get throttled also.. "for lte phones"

I went to create a new APN and it as the name i put phone, and at the bottom where it says APN type i put internet.
Now i have no internet at all, please be detailed step by step each line so that i can get this right.

Under name you put anything like AT&T Unthrottle
Under APN put Phone
Under type Internet
That is all that's required and it should work.

Got it, it most def worked for me.
So let me ask u, i can use the tethering application which is built into the phone in order to tether without a being throttled or being see by ATT. Keep in mind i have the galaxy note from att just released today.
And is there a app that i can see the percentage of the battery in the top right corner.

Long as you have Tethering Manager frozen or uninstalled yes for battery mods not sure on thar yet I'm sure there is but I haven't looked into it.
Keep in mind the Phone APN does not connect to LTE but you don't get throttled

Titanium Backup requires root though right? Is there a root already available? Im not too savvy, and i used the one click live cd to root my transformer.
So can i freeze it without root? Id like to tether, but i don't see a non root titanium Backup

Max, thanks for the useful info. Can you please clear some things up for me:
1. Creating this APN results in tethering at HSPDA+ speed instead of LTE? or is it even slower?
2. With tethering manager uninstalled and the original APN, tethering will work fine at LTE speed but ATT will throttle the connection? Is that a definite?
3. Doesn't ATT throttle the top 5% or so of total bandwidth users anyway? If so, wouldn't changing the APN not really make a difference?
Thanks

The way AT&T has their system setup is based off your device if it's LTE they throttle your LTE connection, if it's HSPDA+ or 3G they throttle it. Now the APN gets you off LTE and on to HSPDA+ and through a different gateway so they no longer see / sniff your packets "never connect through wap.Cingular and tether" that will get you caught!
Tethering Manager reports you tethering to AT&T's system making sure it's okay to tether so by freezing that or uninstalling that you are able to stop that.
Yes you will be connected to HSPDA+ so you still get up to 14.4Mbps down in some area's.
So yes this helps from getting throttled and keeps AT&T from knowing what you are doing.

Yes we are rooted and overclocked already because of the awesome developer Da_G just check the dev section and he has instructions!

Interesting. Can anyone else verify that AT&T really can't detect this? And how can we get it to work on 4G LTE?

U will never get 3g to work with softbank coz the vibrant only comes with the 1700 band not the 1900 band everybody else use the in the world. So it won't work. Just like people who tried to use 3g on t-mobile with iphone.

+1 - the Vibrant is NOT an iPhone, will work on the global GSM 3G band and will work with AT&T 3G.

Yes, I checked with Southbank. The reps I talked with either 1. didn't know what I was talking about or 2. told me that they do not give support for international phones. If the phone won't pick up 3G automatically, can I change the band. What are my options if any? Thank you guys so much for trying to help!
Unlocked X10i on softbank silver colored sim here, I have "packet houdai flat" data plan and use "open.softbank.ne.jp" APN for 2mbps download speeds on 3g network. My total usage last month was worth $13,000USD (yup 130 big bills worth of data) and charge was capped at $50 with this data plan (thank God). So make sure you get a compatible data plan before you start plugging in the apn setting or you'll get an astronomical bill. For SILVER SIM CARD with data plan, google "opensoftbank apn" or "open.softbank.ne.jp". Password will be a bunch of case sensitive letters following "eb"

Free T-Mobile data

UPDATE: This worked well for a short time but now reverts back to the up sell page. My only guess is T-Mo caught on and shut us out; YMMV.
I searched the forum and didn't see this, although I may have missed it. Just wanted to share in case it hasn't been posted or for anyone that may not know.
[Disclaimer: I have no idea if this will inevitably result in a loss of service, so don't blame me if that happens! Proceed at your own risk.]
I recently got a T-Mo prepaid SIM to use with my unlocked i777, as AT&T's coverage where I work is basically nonexistent. I had a rep set me up with the $15/month unlimited text plan which I quickly realized has no web access included (not even pay per MB lol). This was confirmed by opening the browser and being greeted by a T-Mo upsell page.
Okay, so... after some digging around and trying different APN settings, I found a workaround:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username: TMobile.com 0000000000 (use your phone # in place of 0000000000)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: Internet+MMS
After saving and selecting the new APN, I now have data! Confirmed this by loading multiple pages in the browser. It may be slow, but it's still nice to have available for the times when you really need it!
Cool trick, did you do any speed tests?
it would be edge (2g) speeds because this phones 3g and 4g (hspa) radios are built for att frequencies only, but att and T-Mobile share the same 2g frequency.
Still working internet is working internet. Good find.

No, I didn't even think about that at the time. As stated above, it'll only be Edge speeds. I'm not sure it would be any faster even if our phone supported the proper bands, since it's using the WAP APN meant for cheapo feature phones.
If data could be fix to use 3g I would go pick up a Sim and only use T-Mobile. Att keeps getting more and more expensive.

This might sound silly, but if anyone knows... 1.) Does there need to be a working Tmo card in the phone w/ that APN (vs. att card), 2.) Does it need to have recurring services or could any purchased prepaid Tmo card be swapped into the 777 in an emergency?
I ask b/c AT$T data services blow in my area and I currently have a network data block to avoid paying for said unusable services...I'm curious if this would work in an emergency on the road or if it's likely that Tmo data is as bad as AT$T's.

An (educated) guess tells me 1. Yes, you would need to have the T-Mo SIM in when using the APN. And 2. I would imagine so, since your phone number is used as the Username in the APN, and I'm sure their network identifies the request as either coming from an active/inactive account.

It's not only with AT&T. AT&T and T-mobile use different bands for 3g. Obviously TIM uses the same bands as AT&T.
Is this still working for anybody? All of a sudden I started getting the web2go error page.
And since upgrading to CM9, I don't even get that anymore. I get Unable to connect to the Internet. No edge logo up top or anything.

Exynos not compatible with AT&T Network. Only HSPA+ I have the HTC One X Quad core on Straight Talk (AT&T MVNO) and get gravy HSPA+ speeds here in Charlotte
so what your saying is no matter what i will not get any better speeds than 1.5 and lower. i get 3g/4g/h+ on my SGS3 right now. unless there just false indicators in the notification bar so i dont see the incompatibility.

There is definitely something going on with the SGS3. Right next to my unbranded SGS2/GT-I9100, I'm getting much lower speeds on the exact same network. I'm talking 7.5Mbps vs 3Mbps on AT&T.
Not sure if the modem's just not optimized for the US AT&T networks (yet).
Thank for the test, i really didnt think this was normal. i hoping to find a modem that works well enough to get me the 3-4 mbps......
right now, all yesterday......i could NEVER even get above 300kbps
i love the phone less this aspect of it right now.

to the OP and anyone experiencing slow network speeds, check you apn settings on the phone make sure you have the ATT phone apn selected (apn name phone) instead of the default Cingular apn...Phone is the HSPA+ apn but on unlocked international phones it defaults to the APN provided by your sim which is the Cingular one...case in point on my nexus i have to always manually input the phone APN after flashing a rom...
also even though 2 phones running on the same network maybe in the same physical location, they may not be connected to the same Cell Site Tower, as such each phone maybe communicating with different towers with varying degrees of network congestion, thereby affecting your speeds...it could also just be the area you're in...as another ATT user with an international s3 has posted screens of him gettin 8mb down

I'm don't think you can switch to the phone APN on the $10/$15 medianet plan... has this changed?
I understand cell towers, but you have to realize you're really reaching with that explanation... especially when I am able to get consistent 6-7.5Mbps ALL DAY on the GT-I9100 when I have not been able to hit 3.5Mbps downloads sitting in my office all morning. I'm talking well over 10 tests at various times throughout the day, SOMETHING is up.
CONFIRMED: phone APN does NOT work on the medianet plan, so let's not muddy the water and confuse the issue at hand.

Well if you can't change the APN..you can either complain to ATT or try another S3...for me when I first got my GNex I got crap slow speeds on HSPA+ till changing the APN...but I am not on a medianet plan..

That's the point, I'm talking about the medianet plan, and getting much faster speeds on a phone sitting right next to it. Repeatable results too.
Again, has nothing to do with APN in this case.

NO, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying I'm seeing significantly slower speeds than my UK GT-I9100 when running the same exact speed tests at various times during the day. Could just be a modem issue as these phones were launched for the UK region, who knows.

Not sure what they meant by that, there's no AT&T specific radio. You may want to wipe the phone clean and start over on it.

[Q] Force Note II to stay on one frequency

I recently took up the T-Mo deal to switch from VZW. My mom kept her Note 2 and I rooted it and got it working on T-Mo with H+ and Edge. The issue I see is that it bounces from 3G to H+ every few seconds, What can I do to force it to stay on one band? Or even just limit it to 2 bands?
I tried Phone Info, but it force closes. It's running the Stock Rom 4.3 with a locked bootloader.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

From what I read when trying out Straight Talk, that is the standard operating mode of those types of network. Basically is scales down when higher speeds aren't necessary and then ramps up to H+ when utilizing the bandwidth. I never found a way to do anything about it, though.

Try the app Advanced Signal Info.
Go to additional settings, Phone Information, then try selecting a network mode.
With CDMA, I can lock in EVDO on the Note 2, but it won't let me lock LTE like some other phones will.
