Amazon. Note $249 = $ 50 less than ATT store - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Almost getting the var dock free lol.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ung-galaxy-note-for-just-249-99-thats-50-off/

If you live in California you actually save $100 since you don't have to pay $50 in sales tax on a subsidized phone. I'd wait though until it drops to free on contract in a couple of months...

Deal doesn't apply to phones on family plans it seems.
Note will not be free on contract anytime soon, if ever.

The Skyrocket was free on contract within a month of being released via Amazon Wireless.
Will only be a matter of time for the Note as well...

For new lines there was that sale, yeah. If you are adding a line, might be worth waiting I guess.

Unfortunately, the $250 contract price only applies to new customers or an individual account looking to upgrade.
Within 1 month, there should be a good chance that it drops to at least $200...which is what I'm waiting for it to drop to (at the least) before I upgrade. I wouldn't be surprised if a vendor sells it for that amount in like 2 or 3 weeks from now.

The Skyrocket is $100 with a new account on amazon right now. There was a promotion for a week (might have been cyber monday, I forget) where all on-contract phones on amazon were $.01--maybe this is what you're thinking of? I don't remember if the Skyrocket was around for this. Also, the Skyrocket launched at $300 officially but was available in LTE launch areas for $150 directly from AT&T, so the pricing was deflated from the get-go.
Still, I think the Note will drop slower than other devices. There is absolutely no competition for the Note--the only other phablet coming is the LG Vu which looks like a joke with an awkward, lower-res 4:3 screen. The Infuse is free and has been for a couple months (it's about nine months old if I'm remembering launch dates correctly), but it was clearly a holdover phone for the GS2 and Skyrocket, which totally eclipse it in all aspects. We still have no details about the GS3, there is no AT&T Nexus in sight, and there aren't even any other options for even a 720p or better screen on an AT&T phone.
Bottom line: The Note holds a uniquely strong position among AT&T's lineup that isn't going to be lost any time soon, and I think that will keep the price up, even from amazon.

How long until Amazon Wireless prices the Galaxy S II at $0.01 w/ 2 yr contract?

I know I know I'm crazy right?
But Amazon has a history of dropping prices like crazy every couple of months on Android phones.
Look at the droid bionic... it already has been dropped $170 off the retail subsidized price by Amazon a mere month after it was release
And of course we also have black friday/cyber monday sales coming up soon
Not looking for an exact answers, just interested in your opinion on how many months you think it will take before the Amazon price drop to $0.01 w/ a two year contract?
Btw anyone else holding out for the Amazon price drop?
unfortunately for 1-3 months I believe that this phone may be one of the best on the market, without much competition until other phones are released. Retailers are likely to capitalize on this.
I got mine from Amazon Wireless for $149 out the door with 2 year contract.
Would have been over $200 directly from AT&T.
Don't know about Amazon, but I got mine for 50% off last Tuesday (online, with free activation, and free next day shipping). It was $99 per phone with new 2yr contract.
If I have to guess, maybe in 1yr it may be .01?
SEE WHAT I MEAN GUYS?!?!?
A mere month since it's release date and Amazon Wireless has already dropped the $300 Droid Bionic down to FREE http://wireless.amazon.com/dp/B005IQOFW0
Makes me wonder just how quick the Att Galaxy S II will get the same treatment... it has to right? Especially considering that it sells for $100 less than the Bionic and the Bionic has only been out a month with a $300 price drop.
Cant wait boys, cant wait
I bought my last phone for $0.01 on Amazon. Great deal at the time. Unfortunately I payed $240 plus $40 activation for this one.

My question, I still have two weeks to return to Best Buy before my 30 days are up, will Best Buy cut me a deal based on this?
Or, more importantly, will Amazon honor my unlimited data grandfathered in if I upgrade through them?
Well damn I just did an upgrade last week with Amazon wireless on the at&t galaxy s2 for 220$ i'm wondering can I get it for 1 cent and have the rest of money added back to my card?

Good catch. You probably saved some people a lot of hassle for nothing.

Getting note today buy no commitment or early upgrade.

OK here's the deal. I am currently phone-less being I sold my GS2 in wake of the note. Now I have two upgrades due in May. My GF also wants a Note and she said she is more than happy with waiting. Me, I tried but I can't lol. Being smart phone less sucks. Not fun bringing my new Transformer Prime around and hoping for wif lol. So here are my options.
One of the upgrades is deff going to my GF. So that leaves one. I figured I could buy the note today for $650 and instead if paying early upgrade price of $550 saving my May upgrade for future phones like a SG3 or whatever. Or better yet I could buy a Note for $300 "full upgrade price" in May and eBay it and make some profit. I have went to all local ATT stores asking to upgrade early, but no go. Even tried customer service. Last year I got my GF a iPhone 4 early 30 days early, but they say they are much more strict now.
Basically should I just pay the retail of $650 and pocket my upgrade for the future? Or pay $550 and extend ans save $100, which seems silly.
I already told my GF I'd sacrifice my PS Vita if I was able to get the Note. I'm dying g to get one!
I also know $650 seems expensive. But I look at it as a investment. Being I would be able to sell it down the road if needed or wanted for at least 60% of my money back. And I'm not signing a contract extension. And I believe not having to pay the $36 new activation fee.
Thanks, I've been reading these forums all day yesterday. So ready for my Note!
Go to best buy they will price match at$t and you get rewards zone points, if you're a silver member they even have a 3x points coupon out now that's good through today.. 650 would get you 1950 points with coupon, equals almost 40 back in reward zone certificate.

I just purchased mine for 150... I will try at&t service and determine if i will keep it.. If I decide i don't like it I will cancel my service and buy out my contract... 325... That's a total of 475 for the phone itself... Now that's a deal compared to paying 650...

I hear ya man, today was the first time I laid out full price for a device. I usually go full upgrade or early I must really love the phone
But in my case my other two lines are due for upgrade in may so my gf gets one. And the other I can save for a future "me" device . Or get a note and sell it for $600 on the bay with my upgrade. Thus means I got mine for $300.
We utilize 3-4 of our lines between me and my gf. Id like to drop one off as well and save the $10 a month. The other we give to her parents in the mid west. Otherwise I would have done the $150 deal.
The ATT reps were totally unaware of the 50% off deal too, go figure lol.
Of course they were. They don't know of any of the deals I ask about.
Pay full price. I've been selling almost 10 $500 per Note in Craigslist. Only $100 more from early upgrade
Maybe try another store I just bought a phone back in November when I signed up for At&t. I called the store and said I wanted to buy the phone outright and the guy said why do that when you can do and early upgrade because they were not able to sell the phone off contract at the time. Do you live on Los Angeles? The store I go to is really customer focused.

I paid $375
I just purchased one for $375, because my contract wasn't up until 08/12, so I had to do what they call an "exceptional upgrade". $300 for the phone and $75 for the early upgrade. I did it at one of those authorized AT&T stores, looks like the real store but they have their own price for early upgrades , compared to AT&T with their $175-250 fee. And now I see that premiere customers are eligible for 50% discount so I'll be calling them in the morning to try and get some kind of credit. Even though I really didn't spend any money because I sold my Skyrocket for $400!

I'll be buying mine outright. $100 difference between outright and extending my contract and losing out on my scheduled upgrade in July? Kind of a no-brainer.
I did an early upgrade and was expecting to pay $550. It rang up at $500. The rep didn't know why. My upgrade wasn't due until March of '13.

low resale value

Hello fellow noters
I recently out of decided to sell my galaxy note to get the nexus 4 ( to use on simple mobile) and to my dismay the g-note i717 has a really really low resale value. From what I have seen on ebay and craigslist the average cost for a i717 is around the low 300s, which for me is bad, Very bad. If you take into account the money that paypal and ebay take for the commission of the sale you are left with 250 something. This probably has to do with the release of the note2 only 6 months later than the original note.
I'm not complaining because this is still a great device but the loss of value took me by surprise, but I will definitely think twice before getting another Samsung device close to its release date.
In conclusion my friends I would advice you that if you want a Samsung device wait 4-6 months and buy it out of contract for 1/2 the price and if you are planning on reselling it later take a deep breath before looking for the resale values.
IMHO I see the Nexus 4 as a Downgrade from the Galaxy Note 1...
NO SD CARD.
Non-Removeable Battery
Max 16 Gigs of Storage.. Max..
Smaller Screen....
But.. Enjoy
All android phones lose there value fast because theres a new better one every week. The reason something like iphone hold there value so long is because there is only 1 a yr.

I see it as a huge upgrade because
I don't need more than 16GB of storage because I don't put 50000 songs on my phone when I don't listen to them all anyways.
I don't really need to remove the battery ever, and it has better battery life than my note which is horribly awful.
It has android 4.2 official from the get go, and will get future android updates a week or so after announcement. Current note doesn't have official 4.1 yet, and 4.2 is out! And CM10 is still not stable. I'm so done waiting 6 months for an android update, especially with how awesome the changes have become.
Screen is a bit smaller yes, but it's higher PPI.
2GB of RAM is very necessary for anyone who is a power user. I constantly have to reload apps.
Quad core krait is awesome and should never lag. note1 lags often.
It doesn't have LTE which does actually suck but will be better for battery life and HSPA 42 in Canada is pretty good
And it's $350!
You could argue the Note2 is a better phone than the nexus4 and in many ways it is, but I still think getting android updates is more important for me. And the price is great.
I'll be selling my note1 for $300 next week. It's lower than I'd like but allows me to upgrade to the nexus4 for very cheap!
Sound Like They're Getting Your Money.
I"ll Keep My Note *1* And My $30.00 A Month T-Mo Plan And Jamie's ParanoidAndroid JellyBean Rom All Day Long Over A Phone That Won't Allow Me To Expand My Memory Forcing Me To "The Cloud" And Not Even Allowing Me Access To My Phone's Battery Making Me A *Slave* To A Charging Outlet...
Enjoy Your Nexus 4....
The main reason I'm switching is because even with the blaze radios my speeds are very very slow. I am going to miss the spen, and my 32 gb sd card but due to the lack of support from Sammy to their devices and the low resale value I refuse to spend 700$ on a note 2.
The reason for this post is to tell you guys to get prepared for the loss of value when you try to upgrade from the note.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't like contracts much less with att. This is mostly for people like me that buy off contract and use pre paid that the depreciation of the phone affect us. IMO signing a contract with att or Verizon is like selling your soul for a discount on a device you end up paying triple by the end.

I haven't sold it yet and I'm not complaining, I love this thing. I don't really mind if the nexus loses value because it only costs 350$, but that is another topic.
the Note does have a low resale value if you take in to account that it used to cost around 700$ and now you have to negotiate with someone to barely get half of your investment. Samsung products do devaluate quite fast because they flood the market with their phones, release new version every 6 months and they give retailers the option to sell the phone at the price they want. I got an S3 four months ago for 615 and I went to the same store today and saw it for 500. There is nothing bad with that, if you use it to your advantage and wait a while to get a great product for 2/3 of the its first retail price.

How do you figure it is triple? I have been on At&t since 1994. Not going to change. Have 5 lines with them. Always had great service. It would make no.sense not to get it subsidized for me. Going to to pay same price for service whether off or on contract.
from a galaxy far far away....
The triple is for the overpaying the service (I used to pay 120 more or less monthly on att for the past 5 years now I pay 50 everything unlimited) and if att works for you awesome, but all of this talk about subsidizing strays from the fact that the note devaluates pretty fast.
I've never seen a phone hold value...Technology is constanly upgraded and replacing other models every month..Just the way it is..Computers are worth half as less in about 3 months as well...
Ello mate!
Honestly if you want to sell your note then that's perfectly fine. You don't need to justify your decision to sell to the people on this forum because what is it to them if you sell or keep? Lol I don't know why people get butt hurt over it when it has nothing to do with them. Will they be using the phone or is it for you? Also don't let people's opinions discourage you. The nexus 4 is awesome and I want to get one as well....note is great but i have decided it's just too big for me. I am a very active person and it is actually getting in the way rather than simplifying my life. Can't go running with it. Can't take it to the gym..nope! Can't walk around the gym with the note in my gym shorts lol. I don't want to shell out additional money for another mp3 player.
I agree with you on the resale value. I put mine up on Craigslist for 430 and got so many low ball offers it's ridiculous. I am just going to keep it now ... meh.
I am buying a Note II this week, but only because my corp plan lets me it it for $200. The Spousal Unit would never allow a $750 + tax phone purchase in this house.
If I get $300 for the Note I then I am happy, since it lets me purchase the next upgrade for next to nothing.
That said, I am thinking of holding on to the Note I until December when the official JB comes out. The Note I does lag on stock rom a bit (never tried the custom JB ones), and I want to be able to sell it to non-XDA folks with full S-pen support. I am thinking that the Note I stock experience will be much better in December, and that if I show it to a couple of people I know they will be happier with it then. If an offer comes by before then, I'll let it go at that time I suppose.
My brother just sold his Note for $300 to a guy in Sudbury. He was a bit disappointed as well.
I told him it's a niche phone with low demand in a small market.

Read the important part in red which you missed. If you have ONE LINE, non-contract makes sense in some cases. If you have more than one, nope.

100% true! the nexus 4 will be worth nothing as Google drops its price, and I sold one of my skyrockets for 350 on Craig's list so I'd sell my note 1 for $400 up, and I'm in Fl too. Its all about the condition of the phone. If your note is mint like mine you'll sell it for $400 cause people will rather pay $400 for perfect condition than $300 for some old scratched up junk. In 6 mo. Your $350 nexus will be worth $199 or less cause its used. How's that for devaluation.

Anyone found any good deals buying full retail?

I was just wondering if anyone knew of or has seen any good deals on full retail pricing for the note 2?, I know there is always CL,swappa and other phone forums. But I was just wondering if any stores ever run specials or anywhere online?
I am looking at paying full retail, but if I could save 50 or 100 I would like to.
I heard something about maybe in April the retail price could drop?
You're always going to have a hard time finding deals on non-contract prices. Carriers aren't going to reduce their price because it takes away from their subsidized pricing and makes it seem like less of a deal. For instance, Verizon's site lists the GS3 at $699 off contract, it's been that price since it's release last summer.

Unfortunately there hasn't been many note 2's on CL in my area, a few around christmas but other than that none. But I have seen a few on swappa that I am interested in. I also checked celltraderonline but it looks like a lot of the deals on there are from what I called the "power buyers" that used to be on here until the marketplace closed. So needless to say many of those guys do several deals with each other, and they have a lot of extra money to throw around, so I don't see a good deal for me over there. (one guy I remember on here bought 90% of the iphone 5's that were posted here, I know of 4 he bought for around $800 ea)
But one thing that is kind of odd is I got a call from my parents wondering if they could be added to my VZW account (they have sprint and well, sprint is sprint) and their contracts are up in April. They said they don't need "fancy phones", so if VZW will allow me to add lines to my account I could give on of them my rezound and get their subsidized priced phones (note 2 for $300).
I have no clue if verizon will allow me to add a line to my unlimited plan though.....I know I can't add lines and get unlimited on those phones, but maybe I can get on the old family plans?
Well here's a little update, my parents called me and said they are going to Verizon from sprint and if I wanted they would give my and I their subsidized phones. So it looks like my wife will get her iPhone 5 and I will get my note 2, hopefully for around $500.

Worth every cent and then some to keep it though.
if you are on a family plan, you can add lines with 2gb of data. It will cost about 40 a line to add (9.99 line fee and 30 for 2gb of data). If you are not on a family plan, I don't think they will let you keep unlimited when switching to it.

I'm in a similar situation, I want to swap the note 3 after a year or 6 months to get triband lte (I'm in a wimax area).
Currently on a family unlimited plan but wondering if I can do the jump program for a year.

I am doing the One Up on Friday to go from Note 2 to the Note 3. You have to pay sales tax on the full retail price of the phone up front then you start your monthly payments. After 12 months you can use the One Up again on that line to get another new phone. This way actually saves me money. If the price is $699.99 then I will be paying about $58 on tax and then right at $30 per month. So one year of payments would be $350 then I could start all over again with the Note 4. Since I usually buy a phone at full price when I am in the middle of a 24 month contract, the One Up program is going to end up being cheaper for me.

I called my local store about this. The thing that I think people miss about it is that you cannot upgrade to the next phone (in your case Note 4) until you have completely paid off your Note 3. So a year in you still have to pay another $439, assuming they put retail at $799. Also I am pretty sure that at that time you surrender your old device to them meaning the argument about picking up the difference via a private party sale is out the window too. Then you'll have to put a down payment to get your Note 4 on top of that since the no down payment option is only a limited time deal! For that reason I'm not jumping into the One UP at this time...
I was told by my local store that it works the way I described. That is the whole point of the One Up program. To allow customers to upgradeevery year. One of the social care people on sprints forums even states " you will be eligible for a new phone after we recieve 12 payments for the phone"
I would go in the store and ask or call a different store.

Yes you are eligible that is true but you are still due 24 months payments, meaning if you have remaining balance on your phone you have to pay that! If I'm wrong someone show me some official documentation because I can't find it.

That doesn't make sense from what they told you. How is it a one up program if i don't get a device each yr. The limited time yes is for 0 down but you have to be able to get a new device in a yr to call it One Up. Otherwise I would just pay $350 for device up front and get another device in 2 yrs vs paying full price. From what i heard you don't own the device and you are turning it back in, hence the reason you are not paying full price and allowed to upgrade in a yr.
Sprint is really going down hill with the softbank merger. Confusing everyone even their employees.
We have had one statement from Sprint only saying it will be release Oct 4th. No promotion or anything. The one up hasn't been fully vetted and its live and active. This is crazy!
Exactly it's like they are trying to copy the auto industry and develop a phone "lease" program. I love the thought of early upgrades (R.I.P. Gold member program) however I was told that you have to pay the remaining payments before you can upgrade to your next phone. Would love for this to be wrong but need someone to find some actual proof from the sprint either way.

That would be the same as current plans...If i wanted to upgrade to a new phone from Note 2 in less then a yr i just pay the early termination. After a yr on contract the termination would be less then $200. So if i paid $300 to get the device and $200 to cancel contract that's only $500. Still $200- $300 shy of original price. As this wouldn't make any sense i am sure One Up has to be cheaper in the fact of getting a new device each yr.

I just now called customer care and asked them. I explained to the rep (Kelly) what I was planning and asked about the remaining 12 months of payment if I One Uped again in 12 months. Kelly put me on hold while she looked into it and she came back and said that after 12 months of payment I could do the one up again. I asked again to clarify that they remaining 12 months of payments went away and she said yes as long as you turn in the phone.

Yea that's what i figured. That's the only way this plan could work lol. Im still upset that sprint has not made a bigger effort to explain this. Its like they don't want anyone to know they are doing 0 down. Maybe after 0 down ends they will start advertising.

Don't forget the $15 per month discount that you get off your bill for as long as your in the one up program. With that your essentially only paying 15 per month for the phone.
Say if you were to upgrade to the Note 4 at year one, do you own the Note 4 at year 2 after completing 24 payments?
If that is true, One up makes a lot of sense because you could then sell the Note 4 that you upgraded to for more cash at year 2 than a Note 3 you would have had to kept for two years with the standard subsidized route.
Yea, my upgrade isn't until January, they want me to give them my "one" to switch to one up and get the note 3. Eff that. I'll probably just switch to AT&T. They tried to switch me to customer retention but I was on hold a good 15 minutes and I had to go to work . I don't mind giving up the note 3 in 12 months while on the new plan, but I'm not giving them a phone I just paid full price for.

There is alot of confusion on the one up program but you pay 12 months on a phone and then if u want to upgrade again you have to hand tje phone over and start paying on another. That's hiw tje other 12 payments are gone. It's a cool idea that I'm gonna take advantage of. Plus the 15 off the monthly bill is awesome. So it would only be about 15 extra to get the note 3.

I'm in a similar situation. I pre-ordered the Evo LTE, so I can't do a standard upgrade until 1-1-14. Shortly after receiving my pre-ordered black Evo LTE, Sprint announced the white Evo LTE and I bought it at retail. Around May of this year I bought a Note 2 at retail. Even though I'm still in contract, the active device on my line is not what I bought at contract price. After talking with 3 reps at 611 and 2 reps at 2 different local stores, I was getting mixed responses about whether or not I'd have to trade in a phone to start the One Up program. I finally called 611 again and asked a rep then had her verify it with her manager. She told me that I do NOT have to trade in any phone to start the One Up program since my active device wasn't purchased at contract price and because it had been over a year. I had her put notes on my account saying that I do NOT have to trade in a phone to get the Note 3 Friday morning and begin the One Up program! I still have my black Evo LTE and white Evo LTE, so I'm going to take my black LTE with me just to be safe in case they do require me to trade it in. I could sell it on ebay for $150-200, but to me it would be worth paying that to upgrade early during the Note 3 release. Hopefully they'll expect nothing from me except taxes on the Note 3, and I'll be good to go. I can let ya know for sure in just under 8 hours when my local Sprint store opens up. I will be there at 10am when they open to get me a white Note 3!!! Hoping that all goes smoothly!!

I'm either gonna convince them to let me start the program without trading in my "One" or I'm gonna go give At&t a try for a while. I've been on the fence about leaving anyway, I'm ready for 4g. Sprint is not only making me pay 50$ than anyone for the Note, and now they want my phone that I didn't even get from them? Heck no

It can be almost any phone. Upgraded to the s3 when it came out for my original upgrade. Switched to note 2 midway through contract. Upgrade I was scheduled for was feb 2014. Activated my old evo and turned that in for the note 3 this morning.

Be prepared to wait if you're getting the Note 3 on the One Up program! I was the only customer in the store and had to wait 1.5 hours for them to finally get it to go through for me! They even called Sprint and confirmed that everyone is having problems with it this morning. They told me that no over else has got it to work yet, but I was willing to wait all day, lol. Just be patient though, they eventually got it for me!!
