Make use of "odin".......you guys really need to research these things before hand.
You need the pit and tar files to get back to stock and odin is your tool to get you there........go to the stickies thread in the developement section and "read"

I installed and used the FROYO ROM - VIBRANT JK2 , but it had some problems . After that I went to DOWNLOAD MODE and used ODIN to reflash the ROM 2.1 UVJFD STOCK ROM. Then my phone stopped working, when I turned on my phone, on the screen it appear some strange signals : a phone with (!) and a computer . I cannot go to RECOVERY MODE except DOWNLOAD MODE but ODIN doesn't work with the ROMs: 2.1 UVJDD, and 2.1 JE8 . Who can help me with my problems ? Plz help me! I'm so sad. My phone is bricked.
Thanks for your help.
great time to brush up on your reading skills. read the Vibrant Directory stickied above you. I'm sure it's fixable
Have you tried checking the VIBRANT DIRECTORY BIBLE which is stickied in this forum? That would be a good place to start rather than posting a non development question in the development forum.
There is a link titled *How to recover from a "soft brick" on your Vibrant and return to stock. (Phone ! PC error)...I would suggest checking it out.

@OP you do have a SGH-T959 samsung Vibrant, right?
Lol I am sorry but the title of this post is just freaking hilarious to me it sounds incredibly frantic and at first I thought it would be mocking someone who posts in the wrong section and overreacts before reading anything haha

Vibrant Directory Bible FTW...
wrong section of the forums.
and
did you get it figured out?
I found out how to do it in the Q&A section, I think. But anyways, I figured out that its pretty hard to brick a vibrant phone, but I wouldn't mess around with it.
Had this same prob, go into download mode (power on holding power and both vol buttons while powering on, after second flash of logo, let go power) Then download stock JFD rom for ODIN. (If odin doesnt see you phone, then unplug and replug while in download mode) Flash the JFD rom via ODIN and your back in biz.
He is obviously freaking out a bit, we have all been there, cut him some slack people jesus.
ITS THE WRONG FORUM is such an asshole move when people are freaking out.

All you need it do is open ODIN, get your phone in Download mode, Make sure you have the right files
PIT FILE-- s1_odin_20100512.pit
STOCK ZIP-- T959UVJFD
PDA FILE-- T959-PDA
and hit the START button
I bricked my phone up a few times and worked everytime.
Tried it on 2.2 & 2.1 update1 Both reflashed to Stock with no problem. Hope that helps.

Hi guys, just new to these forums. I was forced to sign up due to my problems. just about 2 days ago i flashed these to my Galaxy Note Korean unit (SHV-E160S):
Tegrak-Kernel-Build-32-for-SHV-E160S-FA09.zip
Tegrak-Kernel-Build-32-for-SHV-E160S-FA09recovery.tar
i used Odin to flash the recovery file then booted into recovery mode to flash the kernel.. im sure i did right because i was able to use superuser and change my boot animation. unfortunately i found another update to the .tar and .zip file. i'm pretty sure its for my phone too so i went ahead and did the same thing. i kinda made a mistake in the process, i think i wiped the cache and all. dunno if i wiped partition but in the end i am only able to go to recovery & download mode. the Note will power up but won't get past the "Galaxy Note" screen. after that i will just be black. it's weird because it can still connect to Odin on my laptop although the screen is still black. is it a soft-brick? right now i'm trying to download an ICS stock rom and will try flashing it with Odin. i someone can help me please do. sorry by the way if this is a Korean Galaxy Note. this is the best category i could post since the AT&T and the SHV-E160S are the same in specs and all. hope someone could help me and spare me the pain from sending my unit for repair!
Sounds like a soft brick.. it seems you flashed perhaps the wrong file the last time otherwise it would be working like the last flash? ..I don't use odin often but I would restore my backup or just start over and use the last files to flash until you find something different
yeah i tried the others. i am able to flash the 1st recovery.tar but i cant seem to copy the .zip kernel because i dont have access to usb
about to flash stock ICS using Odin, hope this works! i just have one file which is a .tar file, hope this is the right file and don't brick!
OMG, i just pissed my pants *kidding*, the flashing of the stock ROM worked! and not onl that, i'm on ICS! all thanks to xda=developers forum for giving me the idea to flash a stock ROM! thanks guys! i'll never root my phone again i'd rather stay safe. thanks for the reply friend! ICS rocks!
Could you give me stock ics rom for e160s? thanks

Hey guys
I have the Telus Galaxy note and since this was my first android phone I learned about rooting .. so I tried it tho it didn't seem to be very successful except if I tried to do anything with downloading roms the screen would go black and I would have to hook it back to my computer and run odin and reflash it just to get it back on .... tonight I don't know why but I (not even thinking ) decided to do a factory reset and when it went to go do it my phone did the same thing .. black screen but this time wont show up in odin .. I got it too once but the flash failed . so as of right now I can put my phone into odin mode but that's really all at this point , I hope someone can help me because im running out of options and am no good at this
thank you for taking the time to read this

Are you trying to flash a custom rom?
try a different usb port and or cable..might help. good luck!
Check out mobile tech videos on YouTube. They have services to root and rom phones.

All I know is im hooking up my note to the computer and odin wont pick it up . I know its not a usb or driver problem and what ive had to do before is hook it to odin and select the PDA and press start and my phone worked fine
Try playing with usb debugging on/off. Reinstall the drivers. I had a real hard time getting odin to see my captivate on my 64bit win 7 laptop. But my desktop pc works everytime. Make sure the usb cable is plugged into the back if you are on a desktop. Make sure you are running odin as administrator.

Why are people flashing with Odin? Drop the rom on the SD and do it through cwm. All the flashing problems are from people flashing through Odin.

go with cwm instead.

Now that you mention it you are CORRECT. Doesn't flashing in odin increase your flash counter or something like that? Please excuse my noob-ness
hi, i was trying to update my SGS2 to ICS by myself using Odin, but something went wrong and now i can not get the phone start at all .
and i get an icon for a phone and a PC and a warring triangle to show me that the connection is lost
please help.
it's complicated
I had a situation like yours several days ago when I tried to install 3dot remover for my HTC one X.
I had to reinstall whole ROM to make it boot up again. I hope you'll find some other way.
Try clockwork recovery if you have any backup.
no backup
i have no back up, but its ok for my to reinstall the ROM but i dont know how to!
Can you post some pics or screenshot.. Have you tried starting Odin again..??
Did you try removing battery..??
If all these doesn't work out try usb jig..
And please post in s2 forum.. Sure you can get more answers there
sorry about the wrong place
because i am new member so am not allowed to post pics. yes i tried all that and it does not working.
Phone-!-pc mode is download mode. You have to re-flash rom in odin/heimdall.

Just search XDA for "rooting samsung galaxy S2" and then install new ROM. Few days ago I was just like you
Make some research here on XDA you'll find everything here. Or if you can not understand search youtube for video tutorials.
So here goes, I was planning to upgrade my sister's SGS2 to JB, which was a i9100 version.
So, i followed the steps on the official nightly thread of CM10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29280423
but once i did the first step, i thought just in case so i did it, the whole odin process was successful, odin had reset and everything, but right after the reboot the phone wouldn't boot. It would show the samsung logo first, and then the screen goes completely black. i tried going into both download and recovery mode, but failed, same results as the black screen is just there.
Needed some urgent help, do i need a USB jig to run it back on download mode? Googled many forums and threads about this issue and most require a USB jig or to send it back to Samsung. And i've would consider myself quite experienced on flashing roms (did it many times on my own SGS1), or in this case just upgrading from GB to JB, which pretty much requires flashing the rom from CWM, but took the just-in-case route and ended up with this. Really would appreciate the help asap, as my sister's going out of town back to her university this coming weekends after the holidays.
Thank you for you time, and would really appreciate the help.
Your mistake looks to me that youve tried to install ICS cwm when your on GB.
I think you should have upgraded to ICS before attempting any of that.
I would get a jig, then install 4.0.3 stock rom for your region etc via Odin and start again.
If that dont work, then maybe Jtag.
And next time, you should read the install instructions twice!

thanks man, because previously on my own i9000 i just upgraded to ICS straight away just flashing the zip file from CWM, oh my mistake i guess. Getting a jig asap! Thanks again!
Well hopefully a jig will fire it up and Odin will work.Once your at that point then post back here with your phone details and someone can advise which 4.0.3 firmware to get from sammobile.
In the meantime you can try charging up the battery/removing battery for a while......to see if it still wont enter download mode.
Also there may be a jig near you....theres a thread with peoples locations that have them.
