What I looking for is for one of those simple small size facebook wrappers apps. Basically it just loads the mobile version of facebook. One thing is that I want to be able to install multiple versions of it. So if I change the pakkage name to something like com.facebook.one and then I could rename it to com.facebook.two and installed another copy of it. That way I could use multiple accounts without having to login and logout each time.
why don't you use different browser such as opera mini, opera mobile, dolphin browser, firefox?

Was doing that at first and just had tons of browsers installed when I just needed to load 1 site. I was hoping to decrease the installation size. Browsers usually are over 1MB in size atleast. Most of the wrappers are average about 70KB in size. So even if i installed 10 wrappers wouldn't equal to the size of 1 of the other browsers.

I was also suffering from the same.
1, I tried the simple ApkEditor method to change the package name, etc -> was not success
2, I found an external clone for Facebook which has solved my issue and now I have 3 Facebooks on my phone. Google this: "Facebook Clone (Facebook2) Mod Theme Blue + Official"
I hope this helps you

For whatever reason every browser I try reloads tabs when I leave the browser. It's REALLY annoying - I'm stuck on edge most of the time, and finding out that my tabs suddenly reload just because I switched to twitter for a second.
I tried to pretty much disable the LMK, and it still did this...
I tried Chrome, Browser Plus, stock ICS browser, Dolphin and Opera (which does this slightly less often) Last time I had this problem was on my old tablet with only 256 MB of RAM. (Which still did this less often than the Note on ICS)
Every time this happened, I had at least 120 MB of ram free. Seriously, the note has a full gigabyte of ram, and yet this happens.
This doesn't happen to me on GB.
Is there anything I can do to make browsing normal again?
Like, exclude a browser from getting killed, or something?
I'm using a Galaxy Note..
Help please?
I tried all that I could, but was still unable to solve this problem.
I now had to downgrade to Gingerbread because of this issue, it is REALLY annoying.
I just want to multi task on my device...
I actually had tabs reload while I was still in the browser! Is there ANYTHING that can be done?
Still have this issue. Tried every damn browser I could, every ICS ROM I could find, but it still does this. Please help.

Opera Mini does not really fit my needs...
And reloading tabs will still be slower than keeping them in memory, even with Opera.
Thanks for replying, though.
I wish someone who could help would reply to this thread. I'm tired of having to reload tabs almost every time too.

Hi all,
just adding my 2cents, I've been facing similar issue , as a lot of us, tried almost all available browsers on the google play
I'm finally using OverSkreen (floating browser) which seems able to stay on memory by registering itself in the notification area ...
Okay, it's a paid apps
Just want to let you know that I'm not advertising it, I do not know the dev and am not involved in anyway in the development
Just sharing my findings
I'm still digging that issue and landed here while searching the web ....
Hope this helps some
thanks for that, it's nice!
though i'd really love to use chrome, because of syncing and all.
Some solution here???
Try this:
1. Download the Root Explorer apk file from the link and install itit on the device.
2. Open Root Explorer and provide the root permissions.
Now tap on “Mount R/W” which can be seen on top of the screen.
Scroll down and open the “data”*directory.
Once in the /data directory, press menu key and select “New File”.
Enter the name of the file as local.prop.Now long press on local.prop and select the “Open With” option.
Now select text editor.
The app’s process name should be known to the user. For e.g. if the user wants to lock the Contacts app in memory, type “sys.keep_app_1=com.android.contacts”. “com.android.contacts” is the process of the Contacts app.
Similarly other apps can be locked in the memory in the following manner. Now press menu key and select Save and exit.
Now system will show a message saying ‘Old local.prop backed up as local.prop.bak’. And you are done.. Reboot and enjoy.
Get the app process name with apk info for exampel.

edit:
or use JKays framework to register apps as service! read the faq for whitelistening apps!! its great. works for me with opera. it is not reloading the pages anymore and hopefully dont cancel the downloads!

Hi, thanks for sharing your findings... Tried myself to use Xposed and app settings to make the browser stay in memory
Works really great
Only drawback is that it significantly slows down the phone so stopped that technic
Will try yours, thanks again
Hi,
Recently my rooted NT (1.4.2) does not "download (save)" files or attachments from either browser or emails anymore. With email attachments (on gmail app), there are still two options "Download" and "Preview". However, both open to a list of programs to open the file but no option to actually save the attachment. Download option used to prompt for filename to save.
Can someone please tell me how I can reactivate the "download / save" option so that it works properly?
Since the problem exists both in browser (Dolphin HD) and in email (gmail app), I think it is an issue with a general setting rather than an individual app setting.
I did install and un-install a couple of "printing" apps (Samsung MobilePrint and Cloud Print, which did not work for me) recently. Don't know if they caused the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Yes - they most likely did. You have the 'smoking gun'.
Since the NT is a 'locked down' os, not meant to do things, and the 'side loaded' apps broke into that... if you wish to save/keep the os, my thoughts are you need to visit B&N and get it re-loaded. There are other options.
Chrome is good because it lets me sync all my desktop history/bookmarks/tabs onto it. But it lacks in speed/features compared to other browsers.
I'm using Next browser right now and it's blazing fast compared to chrome. It also has flash capability. But it lacks the ability to sync all my desktop chrome history etc. Also it doesn't block ads with AdBlock plus as well as Chrome does. Looking for a browser that has all of these if possible.

dolphin browser seems to fit the bill for me https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
dolphin syncs bookmarks and history from both firefox and desktop chrome simultaneously, and it supports flash. i think Boat browser and UC Browser HD have some type of bookmark sync as well with flash. I personally use Dolphin as my daily driver, and UC Browser because it has an inverted text nightmode plus a cool fullscreen widget
BTW Next browser DOES sync with chrome, at least bookmarks
My 2 favorites are the AOSP Browser with built in chromesync (search the store for the installer), and Browser NBPro for it's blazing speed and understated features.
Next Browser
My favorite browser is the Next Browser. It runs fast and stable for me. Also has some extensions and works with a Chrome extension called "Next Sync Plus". My browser of choice even though I tried almost all of them. I say, stick with it.
To clarify a bit more, you need the Chrome extension to sync.
"With Next Browser Sync Plus, you can sync bookmarks directly to your mobile devices in Next Browser."
I'm aware that next browser syncs with chrome. I want something that can also sync my chrome history because I use that more on chrome than my actual bookmarks
Anyway tried out dolphin and its good, but it's basically the same thing as next browser.

it also does sync your open tabs which i dont think Next does
As far as I know only Chrome syncs everything. Don't think there's an Api for things like the open tabs. Like I said, I used almost all the browsers and Next seems to be the best one. The browser with the best compatability is Chrome. Those are both options you're not looking for, but I personally can't find the perfect browser. So I guess I can't be of any help.
For all in one purposes I use the torch browser since it functions as a chromium based browser, but has a bunch of preset extensions for site unblocking and downloading videos and other content.
Boat Browser... and some specs of Mozzilla
general internet i use chrome, sometimes dolphin. for sites that need flash i use firefox. dolphin seems to play only 7 seconds then freezes on some flash videos.
Boat browser.
It's the only one that has everything I need:
Text reflow
Multiwindow ability
Address bar that stays at the top when you scroll down the page
Fast

excellent
I've tried them all really like sleipnir , it's fast has flash enabled and the gestures make surfing the Web fast. Will try the boat browser if it has the Window option
Boat

Yes Boat by far less lag and not so much BS attached. Flash works well with it too.
Boat Browser crashed a lot on my Note.
Is there a browser with an internal flash player, as Adobe's gets less and less useable w/o updates?
Apart from the flash issue, im happy with Dolphin. But on the Note lots of Dolphin's plugins disappear from within the app, once their launcher icons get deleted. They will also not show in the drawer, but are still installed.
Any other browsers (besides Boat) with floating capability? ie. for multiwindow browsing.
Do you use cache to sd setting on boat browser?.l don't see a difference.
Firefox
I use firefox for flash. Been using is since Nexus 7. I still use Chrome for most non-flash browsing.
I'm curious to know which mobile browser you'd recommend using? I've been using Dolphin, which has been fine (great even) but after a recent update it has begun crashing repeatedly. I've been doing my research and I've been learning that if I turn off the Ad Blocking setting then it won't crash as often if at all (but then you're left open to the screen entirety ads among other things). I've also been learning that Dolphin isn't so great with privacy and data mining (correct?). I tried uninstalling Dolphin 12.0.2 and going with an older version from the XDA site but alas there's been little to no improvement.
So I've been looking at other browsers. I know to stay away from CM, the Cheetah Mobile browser, but what else is out there? I'm thinking about the stock Chrome browser that all Android devices come with but really don't care for it which is why I found Dolphin in the first place. I like the Samsung browser which I've seen in the Play Store and gave a test drive to. I also like Opera...
Also of interest. Apparently Dolphin is able to access my Google account and rebuild itself after a fresh install, whether I've uninstalled it and then installed it again or switched devices. This has been very helpful and allowed me to just pick up where I left off, but I've also become invested in the Dolphin ecosystem and it seems to be the only browser that'll access this. I'd like to just pull my favorites from one browser to another. Chrome won't do this, when I sign in I get an amalgamation of what's on the PC version of Chrome for both the computers I use at work and at home... I really don't want the two to commingle as there's stuff on both that I don't want on my mobile, and needless to say if I save a favorite on my mobile I don't want it showing up at work for unknowledgable eyes to possibly see.
So any help would be appreciated...
I use chrome. Never had issues.
The system built in web browser... i don't know what it's called but it's whats used when various logins are needed ... it's causing me nothing but grief. Even if I set another web browser to default, this stupid built in thing opens for authentications and it doesnt work. Other devices I have do a similar thing but don't cause problems.
How do I delete this system browser and force it to open say Firefox for web-app authentications?
Why not simply deactivate it?

If i do that, nothing opens when an authenticating link is pressed. It just crashes to home screen. Also, I see there is a Android Web View Beta in the playstore, and I activated that. It doesn't seem to do anything different (I also deactivated the original one).
