[Q] Extract firmware update animation? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I've been poking around the filesystem looking for the animation but am having no luck. Found the bootanimation without a problem, but not this one. Anyone know of a method to extract this?

[Q] Changing boot animation in CM 7.1.0

I'm using the newest CyanogenMod (I think) 7.1.0 on BL 1.1.
I'm trying to change the boot animation by finding the bootanimation.zip file in the media folder and replacing it with one I like better, a process I saw on androidpolice.com. It's not working--the animation is the same. The only way I've been able to change it is by using a flashable animation.
Can anyone help with tips or just telling me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
HoneyComb boot animation
I'm also very curious on how to do this right, as we're using HoneyComb on our very budget Gtab, which works amazingly well (minus the lack of hardware support/features) but as like many, the 'Boot Animation' is awful!

Step 3 looks like what I've been doing. I'll try it again anyway. Thanks.

[Q] Where are .qmg files booted from?

im wondering if it it would be possible to find where they are booted and change the file path location to read another type of file, say a .zip like everyother phone?
I am wondering the same thing. I understand that you can replace the kernel to achieve the same effect. But is there an other way that would not depend on kernel modification...
system/media/bootani.qmg
Which is utterly useless since no one can compile or decompile a .qmg file.

[Solved] Galaxy S3 Boot Animation; No animation, how to fix?

*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Solution found see here

Hello all,
So I've been searching for a way to change the boot animation on my S3, all I was able to find were ~year old or older tutorials...
(Currently have version 4.4.2, model i747M)
Now I've got no boot animation at all, (sound is still there), and I'm just looking to get it back. (Or if possible a custom one but I'll settle for anything at this point.)
I used the following tutorial to try and change it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063280
I believe, (based off the files used in the tutorial), that the problem may be in/with the following:
/system/bin/bootanimation (exe)
or
/system/bin/samsungani (exe)
or
/system/bin/sh (text file)
Any help would be amazing.

These have NOT worked for me, but hopefully anyone else experiencing this problem could benefit from them:

Hello there, @JamPro,
To restore your boot animation, check out the tutorial here.
Hey @thenookieforlife3,
I've already tried this, (and just tried it again), and sadly it didn't work.
I believe the problem may be with/in:
/system/bin/bootanimation (exe)
or
/system/bin/samsungani (exe)
or
/system/bin/sh (text file)
They were altered/used with the original tutorial that I tried.
Thank you very much for trying though
Do you have a custom rom or just rooted stock? Samsung uses qmg files for the stock and custom ones are in zip format typically.

I just have rooted stock. The tutorial I used uses .zip's, but, I think, it might have been a work around instead of using .qmg files.
Either way, I have my original bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsumgloop.qmg files, but it won't display the stock animation...
I've added some potential fixes in my original post. None of them worked for me, but anyone looking for a potential fix should give them a look.

RikoMagic MK802IV Modifications Not Remaining

Hello everyone. I am trying to modify system.img, the kernel, boot.img, and the boot animation on my Rikomagic MK802IV. I can edit system.img, but NONE of the changes stick. Also, I cannot open boot.img or kernal.img. Does anybody know any tools that I can use to help this process along? And does anybody know how to edit the boot animation? I can change it all I want in bootanimation.zip, but when I actually restore the device using the new system.img nothing at all changes. It is almost like there is a proprietary boot animation embedded somewhere inside.

Xperia z5 boot animation

Every single downloadable bootanimation seem to operate from a file called. 'bootanimation.zip'... However... On my xperia z5, boot animation operates from a file called 'bootanim.mp4'. If I rename or delete this mo4 file, there is no animation taking place. No matter what bootanimation.zip I install, it does not get called by the OS. The OS is looking king for the mp4 file. Can anyone help me to change this behavior, so that the bootanimation.zip gets executed instead.
My phone is rooted with xposed running and init.d is functioning as well.
Please guys, I can't find any reference to this anywhere on the net. Not it even on XDA.
Thanx in advance.

I know this is an old post, but I ran into the same issue/question and found this thread when searching for the answer. I was not able to find the answer anywhere on-line, but I did eventually manage to figure it out myself:
Your phone will have up to 2 additional files in the /system/media directory: default.playlist or custom.playlist (or both). For any newer Xperia model running the stock firmware that uses MP4 boot animations, you can get it to play the more traditional bootanimation.zip format instead by either renaming or deleting those files.
