UPDATE: IF YOU HAVE AN EVO 3D, AND YOU ARE AN XDA MEMBER WONDERING WHERE ALL THE INFORMATION FOR THE FR3EVO ROOTING PROCESS IS,.....
well,
.
.
.its all over in the HTC Sensation forum,
because one of the moderators here developed a God complex.
(F#Ck THAT...)
TO ALL THE MODERATORS, BUT REALLY TO THE ONE(S) IT PERTAINS TO:
I don't care how big your Android/Linux/C++/Java/thanksmeter/Postcount di*k is, or that you have been knighted a moderator.
The most important part of Xda are the FORUMS. That where we are now, in a FORUM...(Look it up, Copypasta the definition, or build a theme around it if that's your specialty), but please don't tell an entire thread to silence itself again. It's frustrating, it's a bit humiliating, and now it's publicly embarrassing. Please don't allow this kind of abuse of power to happen again. See what can happen? Now the party has started, and the limo made the first trip without us.... So now we have to stand in line behind the folks in the Sensation Forum, and of course behind therootofallEvo site as well.
I'm a bit frustrated, and ranting, so I'll quit now.
I don't know a whole lot about Everything.
And to be sure, I definitely have lot to learn
But I know one thing:
@agraben was completely justified in taking the teamwin ball and going elsewhere first after his treatment on the forum at XDA.
I'll bet he laughed himself to sleep tonight.
Ban me, Shman me....It's whatevs now.
This needed to be said.

Let's all vote stericson the mod off the xda island!
I've messaged a admin yesterday that said he will "talk with him"
Every time I think about the way he "moderated" the dev section a small puppy dies!
sent from a 3devo
i have to literally jump back and forth from the sensation forum back to 3v0 forum to see updated progress

Please take away his mod rights and give them to someone that actually has a functioning brain.
So am I the only one that thinks his is doing a good job? He locked if because it isn't development. He ask the op to msg him as soon as it was ready to became a development thread. Every day 10 people starts new threads in development section, that don't belong there. He has finally started to do something about it, and all the n00bs whine...

that is fing pathetic that we'd have to do that thanks to a mod, i used to be a longtime highly respected supermod on the largest honda civic site (strictly civic) before moving away from that scene, never once had i treated any of my peers which such child like behavior, especially in a manor to actually have pushed a person we greatly need in our section away to somewhere else to share the knowledge we need here, for god sake we need teamwin in this section, and we need the mod's to be able to recognize when he's over stepping his boundries, maybe he's new at this, but that is no excuse to push member's away that we need.

i think he does a good job ridding the stupid posts and questions, but he's gotten overzealous as of late. i hate reading reading 20 pages of "downloading now!!!" or "woohooo!!!'s" but that's just the nature of people wanting to express their excitement.
but to lock a dev thread and keep the dev out until the mod is available to unlock it is going too far. where was stericson at 1:25 AM today when agrabren made an update in the sensation thread?
While I don't agree on everything that was done, the dev forum was a mess. Everyone was crying for mods to intervene and when it happens everyone complains. You never start a coming soon thread on xda. You only start one when you material is ready.
Sent from 3D land
I think stericson was more than fair. Every other post was a question that had been asked AT LEAST 5 time in the last couple dozen pages. Most of the remaining posts were back-slapping, high-fiving, HTC-hating, BS-ing miscellaneous ramblings. Finding real information from real DEVELOPERS was frustrating and time consuming.
Stericson warned people nicely to calm down and stop posting non-development stuff, but it only helped briefly. Sub-forums exist for a reason and those kinds of posts don't belong in development. The dude was doing what he was supposed to.
And popping back and forth between a couple of forums is no big deal. Hell, I usually have 3 or 4 open at any given time anyway. Don't we all? I think folks are over reacting to this and we should just get back to playing with our new toys.
He was out of line period. To lock a thread until they pm him is quite frankly bull ****.
It's a wonder why devs are creating teams and some moving on.
One thing, where is he now? He can ban and rant to all the dev threads but don't say anything the past day+. I hope he did get booted. Now the 3D owners need to go to the sensation threads. It's a crock and makes me think a lot of xda right now.
Where are the admins explaining the actions? Don't know man, its getting way way too out of hand. If the op asked to close its one thing but to close it with no other authority but your own is just plain bs.
Come back teamwin. We got your back and will assist all the way.

I think he had great intentions and started off moderating the mess very well, but when it came to locking the threads I think he went a bit too far.
I dunno if thats what caused the stuff to get posted elsewhere instead but if it is, its very sad it came to that.
Also dont think it was right to kick the Sensation guys out b/c they were actually helping us when they came and were describing what worked and didn't for them.
Ya, a lot of the devs in the Samsung Vibrant forums had moved on at one point. I believe 2 or 3 of them, for a multitude of reasons. Seems like we're gonna have the same situation here :\

I know there are a lot of talented and knowledgeable people in this forum. Won't somebody please make a better app than TapaTalk? The search function in this app is awful. Search a subject and the every post where the subject is somewhere hidden, comes up. Why did I pay for an app that I have to resort to Google's search engine to do a better job than the app for it's supported forums?
Surely some talented dev, wants to make some serious money?? How often do they update this app anyway?? How many of you guys and gals, do this for free and are constantly working on improving and updating your work?
This app is prime for a take down! The best thing about this app is that makes the forum easier to read on mobile devices. Heck, small businesses get local developers to make a site that will work on smaller screens?
How many thousands of people use this app? I personally don't know anything about the technical side. I do have a good ear for business and I'm hearing ching, ching.

You guys are so tough. I thought I was posting in the right section. I was not asking a question, expecting an answer. My intention was to get the attention of people who are experienced app developers. This was directed for someone who is scratching their head wondering, how can I make some serious money, Koush style!
I was sure, I wouldn't be the only one who felt the same about TapaTalk. That app practically has a monopoly of these forums. Having other people either support or disagree, might give developers an idea, if it's worth their time. I thought the Q & A, was for helping out or asking questions.
I was doing neither. I was stating a need in a question format to engage a developer to think of the possibilities. Quite frankly, I think the your threat of banning is harsh. (Sigh!) You might ban me yet!

You are in the wrong place. Developers here are not here to make money. They are here because they love what they do. Second tapatalk is not a bad app. I use forum runner myself. An app doest need to keep being updated. If it works then why update it?
Yes we are tough. This is the worlds leading DEVELOPMENT forum. Not the user forum alot of people think it is.
Awww...Justifi, you are only allowed to break the rules if you are regular or a mod. You should read the fine print on the back of the 3rd page on the rules. Everyone knows that developers that do all they can to break code and contact rules abide by the rules they make with a 2 strike your out mentality.
It's ok...next time you waiver they will fluff themselves up and give you an infraction, he might even explain why in a non robotic voice.

But how wrong is this quote..
There numerous developers of apps spamming across threads to

Try going in and bagging them for it and see how quick they flame you..
True most of the rom developers, themers do it for love..
But jezz to step up to the mark with this one has go it to take the cake..

Zelendel, you have been around for a while..so we both know there are a lot of great minds at work on here ..
not driven by any dallor value..Not debateable..
But the facts of this thread is to open debate that maybe' just maybe...
the main mobile forum readers used at present are not as good as they are cracked to be.
tapatalk and even the xda website search functions are not well designed..
They both lead to complancy by posters both mobile and online..
And there is room for improvement..
If this comes from a $$$ driven developer then so be it.. if he had restated it as a bounty..(monetary incentive) I am sure you wouldn't take offence to this
Back to topic, As an example of a good search function on a forum site is on
Hotcopper.com.au,
its a stock site but the accuracy and narrow searches allowed make it a breeze to find current and past posts on topic, stocks, or posters
This should be compared to what is available on xda to see if there could be improvements made..
Also xda could ask the tapatalk developers ever so nicely to look into beefing up their search function..
As you have suggested one to use, I should have a look at it..
I like the mikmik forum reader but as its just linked into theirs at the moment I don't know if they bigger plans for it..

The same place we were when it was mostly developers on this site. Remember that XDA has been around long before most users even knew what a smartphone was.
As for the bounty. XDA doesnt like bounty threads.
Check my Sig "noobs best friend" for a search plug in for FF or IE browsers.
As for my comment about being here for the money. This is one of the biggest problems as of late. XDA was made to share info and to help others to learn to do things on their own. As of late too many people are trying to make money using XDA. This is not what we are here for nor is it allowed.
There are plenty of how tos floating around and if the current Forum apps dont do what you want then by all means dig in and learn and make one up. Not only will it be a great learning tool. But you may find that it is fun and become a famous developer. This is what we are here for.

I gotta admit z, if I only read up to your first post, I would have had a whole different take on your comments then from this last post.
I have been trying make my own themes, mods and even write some apps. As a n00b to those areas, it is hard to find information at times, and this site *does* help with that. However, I would consider myself not a developer - far from it, but rather just a user. So this site *is* for users too, as they use what others have posted to possibly become devs/themers themselves someday. This site can really be a sort of school for those interested.
So I'm glad you clarified the earlier remark.

For those that go deeper and deeper into things...XDA is great..
This age of computing so far has allowed a break away from the locked in
Software systems that we were forced into since really MS took over DOS with windows front ends
I won't even go into apple o/s speak..
Openware/shareware as the apps market now could be termed allows for us the end users direct input
With the developers to push for better products..thus XDA is the medium that brings the two together..
Like it or not at the moment its the worlds premier focal point for this..
So I understand how the purists must be shaking their heads..
Sad but true a lot of talented developers are going back underground, to less known parts of the web to cook
So then it leaves XDA holding the front so to speak..
Its all good and a big thanks to the mods for keeping it semi under control..
Its a jungle out there...

I agree with all of your most recent post. Now that, I've cooled off a bit . It's also known that techies as whole are not famous for great people skills. This forum is and should be a great place to learn. For the sake of encouraging more people to try to become developers or better developers, XDA could practice a "firm" tolerance. The default attitude should be to guide people to where they need to be, without flaming or threats of banishment right out the gate. IMO, it doesn't feel like that. To make mistakes is part of the learning process.

Hello
Wanted to introduce myself to the S4 community and say that I have gotten so much out of this site, and by happy accident even found this.
Back in 2010 I had a droid X that I rooted, only for the sake of over-clocking. I have been building PC's and hackintosh's for years and thought overclock was the only reason to root...
fast forward to years, and I ended up selling my galaxy s3 for cash plus a Galaxy Nexus.I had to switch to the iPhone for work, but like having a backup phone. The first time I powered on the Nexus I saw a lock that was Unlocked on the bottom. well, like the Most of you. The rest is history!
I became a root a holic, and tried everything from A o sp, to sorcery, too paranoid, Exedra Exedra Exedra.
because of work I am forced to use an iPhone, but I saw a deal on Craigslist for our galaxy s4 and couldn't pass it up.
As of now I am running hyperdrive with the WalletPatch, and LMT pie controls.
I look forward to getting my 10 posts in so I can begin to help the rest of the community in any way possible.
I love this forum, and the proof is on the home screen as I have an XDA chrome shortcut right there.
my first, and only, question in this post is; is it worth buyingvthe app?
Buying which app? The XDA app? If you frequent multiple forums then I would just buy Tapatalk. Or you could buy both just to support XDA.
I don't see myself posting anywhere but here. I used to be a forum whore, but I quickly got sick of debating 16 year olds as to why I shouldn't buy this turbo for my evolution X. Still have my Evo, but don't partake In anymore witless banter.
with that being said, will the xda app provide better usability in terms of interacting with the forum, and its content.
I'm sure this forum has the same three basic rules that any other forum has, if you Don't want to be a perpetual newb, those three being; search, search, and search

The XDA app doesn't like it when your on WiFi. You get errors all over the place. It does however work great on 4G/3G. I have the app for my phone and the HD one for my tablet. I also have tapatalk.
I'd say buy the app. You get a really nice forum experience with better navigation and no need to zoom in on the page. I never have a problem with the app on WiFi. There's also a free version if you don't want to buy pro. Pro, it would seem, is mostly out there to support the site, as there aren't a ton of feature advantages.
Thanks, I ended up buying tapatalk, and downloading xda from play

Dude it's difficult to hack an online game....!
but is it impossible ???
XDA does not condone warez or stealing paid features from developers....which is what this thread is asking for.
Do not ask for ways to bypass paid features on any app.....not here on XDA.
Moving thread out of development, as this is NOT development.
And Thread Closed.
btw......I'm a little surprised not one person posting here reported this.
