[Q] VVM AT&T for Lumia 800 - Nokia Lumia 800

Does anyone know how to get Visual Voicemail to work correctly on the lumia 800? Everything else works but that and was wondering if anyone else got it working. Or at least knows of a fix. Thanks in advance.

Things may have changed since I last looked this up, but afaik no.
Since AT&T is a giant pile of **** they have blocked WP7 from accessing it claiming their systems don't support it. Now this is a flat out lie since the protocol WP7 uses to access it is the same as the one the iPhone and Blackberry devices use.

Well that blow's I thought it might work since my iPhone 4S is my contract phone and I bought a Lumia from Ebay.

I received an unlocked Lumia 800 today and put my iPhone 4S sim card in. It recognized visual voicemail and asked for my password, but it just keeps saying Syncing.... and never shows anything and I noticed the normal vm indicator isn't working now. Any suggestions for getting VVM to work or at least to disable it on the Lumia 800?

[Q] Network/data strange behavior, logcat?

So, all of my family just signed up for AT&T from T-Mobile and most of us got Galaxy S II's from Amazon for $0.01 (good deal). However, my brother and I are both having data issues. We'll be connected to HSPA+ with 4/5 bars, but sometimes anything that requires data (webpage, email) won't load, an there will be minimal data activity in the status bar. I have to click links multiple times for a connection to finally occur (if not wait a minute). Other times, I've waited so long I've turned airport mode on and off. My brother tested his GSII next to someone's Atrix, and their Atrx loaded a webpage without any latency, while my brother's browser just sat there with the initial loading bar, no network activity.
I haven't done much testing/replacing the ROM/radio, because methinks the stock ROM shouldn't be having this problem in the first place. Can I check logcat w/o root?
Could this be a cellular issue? We ported our numbers from T-Mobile, and still have the T-Mobile account. I never had to activate my AT&T phone when I got it from Amazon (came with SIM card, worked out of box). I also noticed strange behavior. I had both my old T-Mobile phone and my new AT&T phone on at the same time, and my T-Mobile phone rang, even though I had supposedly ported my number to AT&T. So if that can happen maybe it's some crazy SIM issue going on?
Any advice or pointers of assistance from the GSII forum would be appreciable.
Thanks!
Sounds like the AT&T sim card is not activated, or fully activated. Id call them and verify. Also make sure that you are on a 4G data plan... that can also cause issues with data.
When you port a number it can take up to 48 hours to fully port the number. Until it is done both phones will ring. The reason for the bad satanist that even though it works out of box you have to call Att to set the account up the rest of the way. I can't tell you how many people came into my store due to this.

Update: Just took phone out of pocket and loaded cnn.com. Tooks ~20 seconds before page even started loading (beyond initial bit of browser loading bar). Both up/down HSPA+ became active at various points in the time frame.
This seems to be a common occurrence. I remember talking to an AT&T rep from Georgia or something because my dad called her to get our account in order. She called my phone, as was like "Oh you're talking on your GSII? -- it must already be activated then." She made no indication that it still needed to be activated.
Sorry damn keyboard. I ment bad data connection.
I used to run a small retailer but still do freelance support for a few of the Att stores around town. You would be amazed how many store managers have no idea about the products they sell lmao
Call Att and get tech support and have them refreash your connection to the data servers. That should fix you right up.

MMS on ATT with Nokia Lumia 800

I recently purchased the Nokia Lumia 800 on amazon. Everything works fine. I just have some trouble with the MMS. I receive pictures from one person but I cant send any pictures or receive it from anybody else. Anybody know how this is possible?
What phone did you come from? Depends on provisioning. I would have them update to your phone or something with a gsm phone functionality. If you came from IPhone it could cause this as it did for me age I moved to the lumia 800.

Just download Nokia Network Setup App from the Marketplace, it will fix all the provider specific issues.

[Q] Lumia 920 (BUILD) on AT&T without DATA charges?

I have a Lumia 920 from Microsoft BUILD 2012 which I bricked via battery-only factory reset. I repaved with AT&T RM-820; phone works fine but now of course shows up on my AT&T account as a Lumia 920. I've handed it down to my son, and would like to operate it on his existing $9.95 family plan no-data account. I think the only way to do this is to get it back to an unrecognized phone and keep data connection, right? So....I'm thinking I could repave it as a Rodgers, trust son to keep data connection turned off and I'm good to go?
If you just want a phone then why even bother with the Lumia? Just buy a cheap flip phone and be done with it. The Lumia without Data is like trying to ride a bicycle uphill with no pedals. It just won't work. It's needs a data connection to operate properly.
It is also not the ROM that identifies the phone to your provider. It is the SIM card that identifies the phone and the IEMI number that the provider sees anytime the phone is connected to their network.

If you don't want the phone to use the cellular data connection just turn data connection off in settings->cellular. That way the phone can still be used on wifi networks but you won't have to pay for a data package

AT&T detects phones by IMEI, the ROM has nothing to do with it.
A smartphone on an AT&T account requires a data plan. No way around that. Even if you were to turn data off and not use it, AT&T still detects the phone as a smartphone and will add a data package to your account if it doesn't already have one.
That being said, a non-AT&T smartphone can be added to an account without a data plan initially, but the moment it is detected as a smartphone (which could happen for any number of reasons), a data package will be added and the IMEI will be flagged as a smartphone.

That is correct.
My BUILD 920 still runs the BUILD ROM now shows up as Lumia 920 as well. Looks like AT&T expanded its IMEI database to include all Lumia 920 now.

[Q] Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 or ICON

Ok, I don't see a thread for this question, but I'm sure there could be by this point. Please forgive my ignorance and point me to where and if this thread should be posted. I was given a Verizon based Nokia Lumia. I have been told it is called an Lumia ICON, but when you look at "about" its called a Nokia Lumia 929. In all my searching of XDA, I don't see a thread for either an ICON or the 929. I see lots of refs to a Lumia 920, but not 929. Bottom line, I wanted to unlock this phone for use with my carrier T-Mobile. In speaking to them, they will give me a T-Mobile sim card, but obviously I have to unlock it on my own. Is there a way to "root" this phone like I have done with previous IPhones? Is there a difference between a Lumia 920 and 929? What is that difference? Are the "UNLOCK SIM CHIP" web sites trustworthy at all? Is this the only option I have, to provide my IMEI number to them and hope for any unlock code from their databases? Like I said, I want to unlock/jailbreak this phone for use with my current carrier, but at this point would also be happy with just some basic enlightening of my ignorance. I'm currently using what "about" says is a Lumia 521, but every search I do on this number, anywhere, spits back only 520's. Is the 521 designation just to distinguish what carrier put it out. Is this the numbering system that Nokia/Microsoft uses to tell them apart? If this is all together the wrong place to launch this thread, please just let me know where I should put it. TIA for putting up with my stupidity.
Hey, it's called the Nokia icon you're right but it's official name is the the 929. But anyway pretty much all verizon phones come unlocked. So it should already be unlocked. The only thing is that you may not receive LTE as much. More H+ but it depends on where you live. And you might have to just mess with the apn setting for mms and Internet. But you can just look that stuff up on Google.
Source: I've used it for t-mobile too without doing anything
Edit: verizon*
I'm in the same boat but use att since service is way better here in Seattle. I can use it to call and text but not use cell data for Internet. Any recommendations?

Verizon Wireless Push Notifications Not Working on Unlimited Data Plan Set to IPv6

Ok so I'd love to be proven wrong, so i need some people with Verizon unlimited data plans with 4g lte phones, preferably in the NJ area, but if not it's ok. this is an experiment.
out of nowhere, my phone would not receive any push notifications when on LTE. it'd a moto x pure edition that's worked fine from day 1 in Sept and all of a sudden stopped two days ago. when I'd connect to wifi, i'd get tons of notifications at once, even notifications for stuff I already manually checked and was done with hours ago.
i swapped Sims into my Verizon note 4 and guess what? exact same issue. it's not the phone it's gotta be the network or my line.
verizon was useless to help as usual. they suggested a new sim, and since I used a sim cutter to cut my old sim, i figured it couldn't hurt. nope, that didn't help.
i decided to mess with APN settings next. I switched from the standard ipv4/ipv6 to just ipv4 and guess what? it works PERFECTLY now.
what I didn't mention was everyone I know who lives near me had no issues.. thing is, they didn't have unlimited data. they're all tiered. why me? why my plan? why just me and my two phones which are completely different phones?
it got me thinking.. is verizon intentionally messing with unlimited data plans to make people switch over? I mean, unless you're on xda like us, youd never even think to switch the Internet protocol setting! and we sure as hell know that no verizon customer service person would ever have any clue to do that either.
so please, people with unlimited plans, how are your push notifications? are certain apps not loading? let's test this theory. I'd love to be wrong seeing as i'm now paying 20 more a month for this plan.
thanks!
Thank god I'm not alone! I have unlimited and my wife has unlimited both of use are affected. However, two of my co-workers DO NOT have unlimited and they are both affected as well. Neither one knew until I asked them to help me experiment. I am in NJ as well. On wifi ALL notifications come through, but on LTE they do not. This morning, my phone got stuck on 3G and I got a notification so this is related to LTE.
My gmail takes a long time to refresh when I pull down from the top.
How did you disable IPV6? I'm on Lollipop and the wife is on KitKat.
great, maybe it's an NJ issue with certain towers. so ok that rules out unlimited.
goto settings, cellular networks, apns... scroll all the way to bottom for Verizon Internet APN that's selected and click it.. scroll down and there's two settings to change to ipv4. once you do that, test push notifications or refresh Gmail. instagram also wouldn't refresh for minutes for me, now it's instant.

Well, this sucks. On my phone all of the APN settings are locked out. All I have access to is the APN name. I have root, so I wonder if there is a way to get at the config files.
---------- Post added at 11:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 AM ----------
I just had an email notification come through on 4G. First time since early yesterday.
I read on certain phones if u just add a new APN with all the same settings but with v4 it should work. I never did it though

Verizon really locked it down. The plus sign to create a new one is there but it's disabled. Also, seems like my notifications coming through again, was short lived. Two of them came through and now nothing.
Same issue here, lost push notifications on Tuesday.
They only work connected to wifi.
All settings for APNs are grayed out..
damn guys. I'm able to edit bc i have the moto x pure edition, which is NOT a verizon branded phone. didn't even think to pop my sim card back into my Verizon note 4 to see if I could edit the APN. damn. i don't know what else you guys can do if you can't edit your APN without root. hmm..

this is very clearly a verizon network issue. however, they have no idea what's wrong when i called in. I don't know who else we can report this to though since it's not everybody that it's happening to.

I created the account just for this purpose lol.
I'll do what I can to beat those holes up as well.
My s5 is rooted but I still can't edit the APN settings.
So they raise my unlimited plan up 20 bucks a month and then render the device useless.

that, my man, is exactly why I thought this just affected unlimited people.. but it apparently affects others as well. hmm.

Guys, I did the following and all my crap seems to work now..
I think it resets the radios..
Turn "OFF" the device.
Remove the SIM chip from the phone.
Power the device "ON" without the SIM installed.
~wait~ till the notice pops up that you need a SIM installed.
Power the devicevOFF" again.
Reinstall the SIM chip.
hmm. I did that on my note 4 though and that didn't help at all.
Sent from my Moto X Pure Edition
now I'm pissed. just went on to my note 4, and just like you all said, it's grayed out, meaning you can't set the phone to ipv4 manually... and since you can't root this dumb locked down verizon phone, it's stuck on the normal setting... aka, i now have a useless 750 dollar paperweight because half the stuff doesn't work.
fyi, goto test-ipv6.com and see how some results are timing out or failing... ridiculous.
my Moto X allows me to edit these settings, so it's verizon who locks this crap down. they'll be getting an incredibly angry call from me tomorrow. I've had it with their crap service.
Sent from my Moto X Pure Edition
WTF are they doing?
I'll see if I can break mys5 and try to find a way around things.
I did see a few tools in play store but nothing seemed to allow any type of toggle control for v6
There has to be a way to toggle that crap..
called and asked to be transferred immediately to the highest level tech support. the woman of course asked how she could help, so the second i said "ipv6" she obviously had no idea wtf i was talking about, and transferred me lol..
so i get to tech, explain it all, i doubt the guy even knows what i'm talking about..but he says he's got my problem written down, and he's reaching out to the network team now, and will call me back.
never had anyone speak to the network team before, so let's find out what happens.
if they can't do anything, i really don't know what i'm going to do. sure, i can use my moto x pure fine, but i bought it as a secondary go between phone to supplement my Note 4 with, which i paid full price $750 last october. if i can't use my $750 device anymore bc verizon is somehow screwing with my account, i'm going to be incredibly pissed...
who can we reach out to? anyone have the CEO's email?
so I'm a couple towns north, and i decided to switch back to ipv4 ipv6 mode... and it seems to be working. maybe it's the towers, i don't know. I'll have to check when I get home as well. how's everyone else's?
