hi guys,
i have a rooted evo3d gsm with revolutionary and leedroid 3d rom (the last version with the previous kernel).
i turned it off and i plugged it to charge, but it didn't work (led turns on for 1 sec and then off again).
but now i can't turn it on again, if i push the power button nothing happen.
it doesn't enter in recovery, i tryed to pull off battery.
the only positive thing is that when i plug it to the pc it recognize the phone.
some suggests?
EDIT: i solved with "adb reboot-bootloader". the battery was fully discharged and i don't know why...

For future knowledge, the process of flashing ROM's and custom recoveries is a hard process to do for the phone. This process is very battery consuming and you always (suggested) should have your battery 100% charged before you start.
Thanx for posting the solution. Might help somebody else.
Glad you fixed it.

If your phone has any interaction or response, DON'T say it's bricked. If it's truly bricked, then it's done for good.

Use the revolutionary cwm 4.0.1.4 recovery which ALLOWS the 3d to charge while off.
No more dead battery.

Hi,
My Evo 3D was working fine, and then all of a sudden (no physical or moisture damage) it shut off and will not reboot.
Tried battery pull, tried several chargers. The LED goes red for about 2 seconds, then turns off, screen doesn't do anything.
If I unplug the phone, the LED stays red for a few seconds but is incredibly dim, then turns off.
The phone is rooted, but I am not running a custom rom at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Do youve got a custom recovery?

Yes on my sd, but I can't get into bootloader.. sorry i'm quite new at this.
Same thing happened to mine. By the time I took it to Sprint, the red light wouldn't come on at all. You'll need a replacement.
Hello,
I had the same thing.
You must conncect the phone to pc than go to the dirctory where you have installed adb and try adb reboot boatloder
You will see that the phone waked up.
Thats what i did and works for me.
sorry for my bad englisch
Thanks! I appreciate the help

some other help? the same thing happened to me today, but i cant open the mobile folder in pc when i plug it... it is here though
i updated clockwork recovery via rom manager today.. so its related?
edit: i already tryed another batterry and it didnt helped but it seems it is working now again just like that...
you have CWM which does not let charge while off (your battery is probably dead) flash revolutionary recovery...the only stable recovery for the GSM E3D out
i have the exact same problem, i am running clockwork mod (rooted) and with a flat battery the light will only come on for a few secs then drop out again, I did finally get the thing to charge and the best explanation i can give is a bit vague im sorry but i was so frustrated and trying so many things at once, just keep it plugged in , I know the light wont be on but there must be a trickle of a charge, eventualy I was able to boot holding what I remember to be the power and the camera button, slowly it crawled back to life, first just the splash screen (45secs) then the touchkeys lit, then a full boot, I then hit the wifi off button the second the homescreen loaded and very quickly turned the screen off so as to minimise the battery usage as it would have been only just bootable... the orange light remained and after 10 mins or so i was game enough to pop the screen back on (3% charge after 10 mins so be careful) and confirm that all was not lost... the date and time remained in tact..
so you can boot/charge from flat, but only just and only if you stuff about and trick it into life. I know this info has more or less been covered before but I hope it helps somewhat.
*my nokia 5210 stayed charged for more than half a week... grumble grumble
ok,adb reboot boatloder helped me. thanks for sharing. i knew that cwm recovery has this problem but i just thought that i broke my phone....pff...stupid recovery.
Had the same problem. Take battery out, put it back, hold power button and connect charger. A splash screen should appear.
What custom recovery are you running.if its cwm well that may be the culprit I had the same problem if you can get it to boot I advise you to use 4ext recovery that's what I'm using as my custom recovery and it works perfect and I no longer have the issue's that your having you should look into it good luck

Also see if you can boot into Bootloader if you can then you can flash another custom recovery like revolutionary version of cwm that will get you going

Try pulling out the battery and putting it back in, then plugging the phone in and rebooting it.

This is a complete guess/longshot but take out the battery, plug in the charger and hold down the power button. While the power button still held, unplug the power cord from the phone and insert the battery. This once worked to get my old Xperia X10 to respond. Different phone, but thought it might be worth a try.

Have you tried adb reboot recovery? If by some miracle adb sees the phone you can just flash a recovery and load up a rom. Might have to try acting like you power it on. It could be actually powered up but not screen or led responsive.

I've had a problem like this with my phone before, I let my battery get to zero while in recovery mode and phone wouldnt do anything. The battery seemed like it was so low the phone didn't recognise it was there. I hooked it up to a variable dc voltage box and jumped it for a bit and it worked. U could either stop at a sprint store and see if they have a charged battery, or get one of those things that charges the battery outside of the phone, its like a universal battery charger or somethin.

Twrp 1.xxx would think the phone was in recovery after the battery died. It made it so you needed to pull the battery for a while to let the capacitor drain and reset twrp

Download ADB from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Download the zip
unzip somewhere
Open SDK manager
Download sdk platform-tools and tools (other stuff is optional)
open cmd and use "cd <directory>" to navigate to platform-tools in the android sdk folder (e.g. "cd /android-sdk-windows/platform-tools/"
Download htc sync http://dl3.htc.com/application/HTCSyncv3.0.5579.exe
uninstall after installed
connect phone to computer
type "adb devices" in a cmd/terminal
if it recognizes your device, it's not bricked
try "adb reboot bootloader" and see if it gets into bootloader. If it does, flash TWRP 2.0 and flash a ROM. Your device should now be usable.
If that doesn't work, you could probably download the bootloader file and push it to your phone but you'll have to ask someone else about that.

Team Win Recovery Project

My phone is an Htc Evo 3d , GSM , from rogers
Its H-Boot 1.49.0008 , it is unlocked and S-off via revolutionary.
I am using the LeeDrOiD 3D V5.2.1 Rom and LeeDrOiD Shooter - GSM Kernel V3.6.0
I am currently having an issue where when charging the phone , the phone will turn off on its own and cease charging. I cannot start the phone by using the power button and have to plug the phone into my computer and though adb
"adb reboot bootloader" . then reboot the phone.
This happens when ever i leave to phone on its charger.
Once it turns off, wait a few seconds and hit the cam button, the phone should then restart. Its a bug in the latest CWM Recovery.
thank you , I will be sure to try that.
I've had this happen to me too while on TWRP. I think its more of a kernel problem. However, I'm no expert so don't take my word for granted. Also, see if it the charge light is turning on then immediately off every few minutes, that's what I observed. In my case, I just left it on charge overnight and it had 30% battery. Dunno if this helps.

phone completely died on me,
connected it to the charger and it turned on to the green "htc" logo,
but then it turns off..
so i tried booting to recover; holding volume down + power, with no luck.
tried it via connected to computer, no luck.
with & without batter still nothing..
weird thing is, SOMETIMES the charging light will keep blinking.
also SOMETIMES, the screen stays off, and the vibration feedback when pressing the home, menu, back, and search keys, virbates..
do i have the first bricked amaze or what?
--the search key "restarts the phone"
i can tell because the keys no longer make the phone vibrate when pressed after pressing the search key.
I'm betting my money on you having a earlier recovery installed that doesn't allow proper boot if the battery is dead... crappy part about that? it doesn't let the battery charge either... Find someone with an Amaze, or Sensation, charge your battery in their phone for 30 minutes, then try your phone again. Also, after your phone is charged, you probably want to reflash your recovery to a new one that doesn't exhibit this problem.
*just a wild guess, but it makes sense, it's happened to me*
*note, you could just have unrelated catastrophic hardware failure, lol*
As long as you have s - off you can't brick it.

S-Off isn't possible right now, S-On-Unlocked is safe. although having the recovery that doesn't support charging is like a temp-brick. You just need to charge your battery in another phone.
Or splice the battery directly to the wires for half an hour. That's how I charged when my charging port was the broked
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Can you at least get into adb? You could try accessing it and then using adb to reboot into bootloader/recovery via "abd reboot recovery" or "adb reboot bootloader"
Did this get resolved? Just wanted to know if my hunch was right.
It sounds like a dead battery. The blinking light means (from my experience) that its charging but not enough juice to use yet. Once my phone died and it blinked for a couple of minutes. I tried turning on, but battery wasn't juiced enough. After a few minutes, the light turned solid and was charging and had enough power to turn on.
I would try a new battery. Good news is you're not bricked, and most likely, not even soft bricked

After wiping battery stats my amaze went into a cycle of booting up normally then automatically restarting after about 30 seconds. Now it shows the amber light while charging, but will not boot at all, not even into recovery. adb says device not recognized, and the amber light flashes periodically and shuts off if i press the power button... should I trash this phone and get a galaxy s II ?

Does the phone charge when you plug it in?
Hello everyone I have a GSM evo 3d. When I plug in USB cable I get a red light for 10 sec then gose out and my phone won't charge. When I plug it into my pc it see it but still won't charge. It was currently flashed with leeroy rom I sent the phone in for repair they said it was third party app damage so I am just woundering what I should do
Turn the power off, plug the phone into the charger and leave it for a few hours and see if it will charge then.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
Ya I tried that no luck and the battery is dead so the phone won't power on
Also had a similar thing happened to me yesterday. Was on anryl kernel/ mikrunny rom and I drained the battery on purpose to 3200 mV (calibration, or so I thought) and after pluging it in red LED was "blinking" and I coudn't boot. After initial try I left it charge (still blinking) and after like 20 seconds I managed to boot up. But I don't think you'll be able to boot on usb charge, mine was connected to the wall.

How long did you leave it charged for and was it plugged into your pc or the wall charger ??
#Root_Hack-Mod*Always\
Never send in a phone for repair when it's rooted. Your best bet is to borrow a battery from someone and if it turns on, flash a new Rom/Kernel and see if your phone charges.
Charge it in another phone. . Then unroot it if poss or get it back to as stock as poss then try sending it back?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
First flash a stock rom and kernel. If that doesn't fix it, it's either a bad battery or a bad usb port.

Wow to all the comments, possibly your recovery doesn't support off mode charging.
Sensation will fit battery to charge, possibly other phones.
You want to flash 4ext recovery touch as your recovery.
If you have adb installed and you can boot into hboot, it should charge in fastboot. adb reboot-bootloader
