2.3.6 Milestone x2 MB867 for the Droid X2?! - Motorola Droid X2

Please allow me to use the mother tongue...

Well am I the Landlord? Hay We figured out Pixelation's post.

Google translate:
As a user, we also very much love the players of the xda such an international electronic exchange platform. Regardless of the hardships over the obstacles of the Government, over the wall to come here really want to be able to obtain some of the most cutting-edge information and some excellent rom works.
Yesterday, saw the development forum posted the 2.3.6 works, start the download immediately. Use a proxy server, a full download of more than four hours, the zip file and use tools to complete the download, can not wait to start in accordance with the landlord tutorial Brush.
I do not know, there is no Friends of the machine in accordance with the landlord tutorial brush on 2.3.6, I am pleased to tell you that, from 10:00 through my constant efforts to brush more than 3:00, and finally painted with such a pit father rom.
The landlord said that the package 2.3.4 the end of access to the root, and then upgrade to 2.3.5 (412 & 413). Intermediate use voodoo to save the root privileges. I do not know the landlord is how 2.3.4 the end of the package after the root, painted on 2.3.5, 2.3.4 root can not upgrade to 2.3.5, but by virtue of the I and many local Friends of common sense ( any version). A look, open 2.3.6's file plainly Boots, trap a recovery image file. So I understand, be able to successfully upgrade to 2.3.5 413 root, you can install a good Bootstrap recover restore to 2.3.6.
I brush the end of the package, upgrade directly to the landlord provided 2.3.5 413 ~ But try all the software can not be normal access to root privileges. Helpless, only to re-brush with a bag in accordance with the landlord said the package after the end of 2.3.4 to obtain root permission to use voodoo to save, but predictably, the 2.3.4root simply can not upgrade to 2.3.5 any one version. So being the case, the upgrade process again interrupted. Brush had to re-end of the package to 2.3.5 413 to continue to find ways to root, because I know as long as the root privileges, it will certainly use the Bootstr ap to restore to 2.3.6. But through the efforts of the I and many local friends, do not have access to root privileges.
Feel helpless on the occasion, had to re-end of packet brush 2.3.5 412 re-root recovery 2.3.6, although I clearly said the 412 version of the wifi does not work. After all, but also brush a day, do not see 2.3. The true face of dogged. Really this way, see the so-called 2.3.6.
See, I feel disappointed. First wifi as expected, indeed can not be used, followed by boot second screen red-eye has changed became the moto logo water ripples. Open the Settings to see the models into the Milestone x2. These is nothing, if the rom interface to streamline the system running smooth, I am fully able to receive, but after the boot program is running is more than 200 M, and the rest in between 130-140 irresolute back. The system comes with the program completely streamlined, including the golf sister also survive in them. 2.3 of the interface and the end of the package. Completely undifferentiated. Effectively, no matter how hard you try, can not be root. A pit father rom actually released, there is no value of Brush.
As the brush to 3:00, vowed today to register a xda account the landlord the following replies to tell you my experience, but the registered account also said that what needs to send 15 replies. I shoved irrigation, filling more than half an hour and finally to 15, and then go back to one or replies can not be ~: mad: hard to force the Chinese faithful machine, when in xda speak with authority

I think the key issue here is stock vs "kick ass" rom. Did the op miss the word stock (rom)?
---------- Post added at 09:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:21 AM ----------
Sir
It is an "out of the box" Stock rom. VooDoo DOES WORK but you must use the latest version from start to finish. Upgrade path: 234 leak sbf > 235/413 ~30mb ota. Run VooDoo before and after the ota. Install super user to gain root when all finished. System recovery also needs to be installed if you do not flash ReRecovery after the restore.

Welcome to XDA DroidX2chn.
Skwoodwiva, just wanted to pass along a big "pat on the back" for making the effort to assist our new friend, and who knows if we can get past the language problems what might come of it. After all, as I recall the original root for the X2 came from a Chinese source.

Thanks we need you skills here!

[Q] Not sure as to how to get GB 2.2.4 from Eclipse v 0.8.1 on GB 2.2.3

I just wanna make sure that I don't do something stupid and end up bricking my phone or something. I have the Eclipse v0.8.1 and I want to at least get v1.0 which requires GB 2.3.4. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankssss!
Ur probably looking for the Q and A section of the forum not Development and if you read the first 4 or 5 posts from the General section and use the search option there is almost a guarantee you'll have everything you need.
Indeed. Questions go in general/Q&A, Development goes in Development.
You are going to have to sbf to 2.3.4(or 2.3.3 and take the OTA)
Then root again and your good to install latest eclipse.
Check the sticky posted by booked in dev section at top for files needed.
and tutorial sticky by moonshadow in general section on how to sbf.
looks more complicated than it actually is....longest part is downloading files and installing programs.
SBF to 2.3.4 or take the OTA. Then root then flash whatever version you want.

Any version after 8.1 that is.....
I think it would create problems to flash 8.1 or earlier on top of 2.3.4 kernel.

Also I want to add I have YET to see anyone with am x2 actually "hard brick" their phone. U gotta really be trying to brick it to do that
Worst I've seen is people trying to sbf with low batteries and the flash fails. Then they get a charged battery and all is well.
After u sbf u will most likely bootloop(since running a rom beforehand I have usually bootloop after sbf) but this happens often to lots of people and a simple data wipe from the stock Android recovery fixes the problem and sends u on you way...

Questions about International SGII

I've made up my mind and will be getting a SGS2 as my iPhone 4S replacement. I'm trying to decide between the international or AT&T version.
Reasons I want international:
- No bloatware
- Tethering enabled
- Unlocked when I travel
- Faster updates on current OS and when ICS is available. (Question, since I will be using the phone on AT&T will this interfere with the international updates...I've heard they are faster. How will I be able to update when they are available?)
- I like the physical home button.
My other issues are: I found the thread (different website) with correct APN settings so I'm good there. Will I have full access to the market?
BIG thing I want to get figured out: Can I root this phone? I haven't been able to find any guides for use with a Mac.
Sorry for the long post but appreciate the help and do you guys have any other suggestions.
I'd go with the international. I like the design better and the home button. Of course, I'm still waiting for mine to come which should be around monday. But in general, its the same as the AT&T version. I got the white one so its extra special and sexy =)
And there has to be a way to root on Mac, I'm sure just finding a Mac version of ODIN would allow everything. Theres way too many people with android and mac that there wouldn't be a way.

Rooting with a Mac is simple. An easy way you could root is to install Heimdall onto your mac and flash any of the custom kernels that have an auto-root feature like speedmod or Siyah kernel.

hmmm looking at the latest version of heimdall 1.3.1. Completely different than the previous versions and actually looks like ODIN simple.
From what I'm seeing, you can put any firmware packages .tar, .tz etc...in the heimdall firmware package...or maybe i should be saying kernel and then just flash it like that.
No more individual flashing and the pain in the ass method it used to have.
Im probably gonna need to learn this since i only have a mac up here in college -.- my white i9100 should be here monday.

nvm I'm completely wrong
Take a look at this 2nd post, seems really complicated compared to ODIN but not that bad.

[Fixed] Please help. Trying to go back to stock with a small carrier.

Okay so I tried using the main SBF tutorial on the dev forum here and that SBF file didn't work for my Milestone X2. I'm pretty sure the main problem is that I'm on ACS (Alaska Communication Systems) and they're using 2.3.6 and probably some strange baseband versions. I got some "boot error 1" or something.
Anyway, I can't find a .sbf file for the ACS version of my phone. I was able to get the phone to boot again using this nTelos sbf, but I wasn't able to make calls or anything and saw a flashing triangle on my status bar.
So I guess a few questions I have are..
1) Does anyone know of a .sbf file that would work for this?
2) Can I somehow edit the nTelos ROM to work with my carrier?
3) If I take it to ACS will they be able to flash the sbf file for me? Or at least supply me with it....
4) Have I voided my warranty by doing this?
Any information is helpful. Thanks!
----------------------------------------------------
Figured I'd give everyone a quick update. I got the phone replaced. I went in and played dumb. She asked if I tried to root it and I said "what's that? I think I've got a virus!!" She had no idea how to fix it so she just gave me a rapid replacement.
I would really like to get the SBF files so I can at least try the 2.3.6 root and not worry about messing it up this time, but any company in Alaska is pretty hard to deal with for anything at all.
Thanks for your help XDA! I miss my Skyrocket
I'm not sure if flashing a sbf file voids warranty. I imagine that it does because if done improperly or the sbf file is bad it could brick the phone. You're most likely going to have to take the phone to them.

you probably have to flash your phone in a similar method as a flash to cricket or metropc wireless except with your carriers information.

Not sure I fully understand, could you give a little more information please? Kind of nervous about taking it in.
was it just the flashing triangle that means you have to activate the phone?
maybe that's all you need to do?
SBF files are given to us by Motorola. I wouldnt think you would void your warranty by using them unless its a leaked version or something. But even then, you could play stupid and just say you didnt know. They might buy it.
I mean if all else fails ask for an sbf from your service provider.

Many thanks I shouldn't have made the attempt to downgrade first in the first place. This time I think I'll just attempt a simple root, which I've read worked for another ACS Milestone X2 2.3.6 user. After a root I can install ReRecovery and make a NANDROID backup right? Just in case anything goes wrong again? I haven't fully looked into it since I'm not rooted yet, but I'm assuming ReRecovery is just another thing similar to ClockWorkMod, which I have experience with. Too bad there are no 2.3.6 roms that I've seen :< I really hate this stock ROM and all its bloat.

yes, I do not blame you. There are parts of the stock rom I like but generally I do not like it. I just rooted my phone 2.3.6 method and it worked. My only advice is to download Super user from the market before you start the process.

I do want to help, but do not want to risk anything until I can get my phone setup to a point where I can always flash back to this ACS 2.3.6. Is that essentially done once/if I get ReRecovery on the phone?
Yea RR should be flashed whenever you leave cwr!
You could test on your acs.
Trying to get hw virtual serial port to work see the cricket link. I had all this working back in july. Damn.

[Q] Best Plan of Action for new Razr Maxx

Due to Verizon changing how their unlimited data plans will work, I decided to finally upgrade from my Dinc to the Razr Maxx. I have been reading the forums for the last few days. I guess to took for granted how easy it was to switch between roms with my old phone.
The phone I received from Verizon already had Android 2.3.6 with bootloader 0a.6c on it. There is no OTA upgrade available at this time so It is the most recent GB installation.
bootloader: 0a.6c
system version: 6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US
Android: 2.3.6
BaseBand: CDMA_N_04.07.01R LTEDC_U_07.1F.00
Webtop Version: WT-2.0.0-139
Kernel version:2.6.35.7-g65de91d [email protected] #1
Build number: 6.5.1-167_DHD-14_M3-8
Build date: Thu Mar 8 12:33:02 CST 2012
I am not to worried about installing the latest ICS leak, but I miss my custom roms. I know that kexec is in the works and is currently on developmental hold. I have read about bootstrap vs safestrap and feel comfortable with most of the terminology. The major downside is the locked bootloader that I assume Motorola will never unlock for us. Since there is no way around this I want to prepare for the worst.
Given my current setup, what should I do to make sure I don't loose any of my modability?
Should I go ahead and root and install safestrap without the init support needed for most custom roms?
Are their any files I should backup that will let me downgrade or revert to a different version?
I would just like to make sure I don't miss an opportunity to do something fun with this phone out of ignorance.
<rant>
On a major side note, I am still in my return window and am seriously contemplating sending this phone back and preordering the Galaxy 3. Like most of you, I love the phone, but need the freedom to flash.

In short, there's no reason to root or flash. ICS is coming in the next week or 2, might as well wait for that.

It was the same thread.
Thanks for the info. I was more worried about making sure I didn't miss an opportunity to backup any files for future use as I know I am already on the new bootloader. More or less trying to cover my butt for a potential downgrade in case we find a way to do any neat tricks with my current setup.
Well no matter which way you slice it, for the time being, once you go to the newer builds its very much a pain in the ass to go back, if its possible. I'm just going to wait and see what the devs can do with ICS. I typically don't like to jump the gun when it comes to OTAs.
Again, this all just my opinion, its your phone.

At this point I would root and use Voodoo to keep root.
I would not install any other recovery because that will probably prevent the OTA from installing.
ICS is due out in the next week or so, so I would root and be patient.

I ended up rooting last night and not installing a recovery. Thanks for the heads up on root keeping with Voodoo.
I remember someone saying to make a backup of my CID partition, but with I think that was just in case you were flashing some of the leaks. I will probably go ahead and do it for good measure.

ICS update for South African RAZR owners

Howzit all
If there are any South African RAZR owners waiting for ICS or have received the update, please post here and let us all know what the user experience is like, and if at all possible, post the update on here
Thanks!
Nice to see another south african razr user on this forum. Im still waiting aswell. I have a ME Retail version, so i think we'll get the update when the Middle East gets theirs
What I'm keen to see is if we get an untampered version and not something loaded down like the Droid RAZR's are in the USA thanks to Verizon insisting on loading bloatware.
Also hoping that one of the reasons we're waiting longer is because they're stabilising it a bit more

hey guys,
im excited too. Cannot wait. A buddy of mine did a manual OTA update though. He is having issues with his USB not detected on his pc or any other pc, that is one of the reasons I waited
I have played around with his and it looks much better than the HTC sensation ICS update as far as I can tell, that is look and feel and some added extras

Hi there.
Love my Moto RAZR!!!
I downloaded an unofficial ROM and installed it. It was really nice but it did support sdcard, so I could also not take pics, cause it saves it to your sdcard.... Then tried to go back and bricked my phone... Finally I manage to unbrick it after a days work.
But, yes... It is going to be great and can't wait for the ota release in SA!!!!
Cheers

Hi
I reinstalled the original fastboot ROM. He will need to tl dowload it, its about 1gig and install rsdlite and Android SDK Tools on a PC or laptop with the correct drivers for his phone. His phone must be fully charged.
ROM = spyderird_u.01.26.0_spd-ird-21_sign_Asia_retail_hktw.xml
Usb debugging must be on and developers tool on, then restart his phone pressing power butten and vol up and down holing it till in recovery, then select the second option dafastboot. He must update Android sdk tools first. open RSD Lite and open the zip file (ROM) takes 15min then connect his phone and click start. Go and drink some tee and in 15-20min his phone will be as when it was when he took it out of the box the first time. Done....

Hi
I reinstalled the original fastboot ROM. He will need to tl dowload it, its about 1gig and install rsdlite and Android SDK Tools on a PC or laptop with the correct drivers for his phone. His phone must be fully charged.
ROM = spyderird_u.01.26.0_spd-ird-21_sign_Asia_retail_hktw.xml
Done....

Hey,
Thanks for your quick response. I sent him this thread link as well to read your response. Im excited for you with the OTA update. Im currently still on 2.3.6 gingerbread but no OTA for me yet.
Also my friend wants to know on which rom were you when you checked for the OTA update? Is this a manual update or via WIFI? Thanks.
RSD Lite

Thanks. I am using the SPYDERIRD_U.01.26.0_SPD-IRD-21_SIGN_ASIA_RETAIL_HKTW.xml rom and I am with VirginMobile, I received a notification that I can update to ICS and it asked me if it can use WIFI and/or data, still downloading so I guess its about 600-800mb.
update

shot buddy. my friend rhodesa and I both are with 8ta as a carrier, checked for updates manually, none for us and we never received notification so we have to wait.
with regards to your update, did you go back to gingerbread for your to receive that update notification or were you on SPYDERIRD_U.01.26.0_SPD-IRD-21_SIGN_ASIA_RETAIL_HKTW.xml
@u1fourie
Was the unofficial rom that you installed ICS? Because i did the same thing, installed unofficial ICS rom, had problems with the phone connecting to pc's so i tied to go back to gingerbread and bricked it.I eventually unbricked it but now the usb issue is still present.Im currently using 676.226.3.XT910.Retail.en.EU.
Yes the unofficial was ics. Then I went back to gingerbread, maybe I received the update because I use the gingerbread spiderird with Asia signarure, but its still original 2.3.6 gingerbread

sweet...so when you loaded gingerbread, did your sdcard feature work again
i used rsd first yes, but then it failed so i tried again but using EternityProject Fla**** for Windows then it failed again. But maybe the reason it failed was because i used the wrong stock rom which was not for my device
I tried to go back to (SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-3_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip)
Yes . Everything worked 100%.
thanx will try
@ rhodesa
I think rsd lite should install even if it is not the correct ROM. Just make sure your driver are up to date, your phone is fully charge, not using power from your USB, start phone in AP fastboot and that you have Android SDK Tools installed and updated
Great. Ics is now installed and work perfectly. It look a little different then the unofficial i
One but it looks great. Love it!
