Bit of a let down when I installed the update today, with the touchwiz skin ICS doesn't look much different that gingerbread. Same wallpapers, same lay out, few minor changes but stock ICS looks so much cleaner and better than this. Any ideas?
Either change launchers or install one of the ICS roms in the development.

If you don't like the launcher, install a different launcher. Official Samsung firmwares will look very similar to each other, even from iteration to iteration.
If you don't like the overall way Samsung skins their firmwares, install a custom ROM.
The power of Android is choice. You just need to be cautious that you're installing things meant for your phone.
EDIT: Dammit, Kaze beat me. Maybe I just need to type smaller responses.
Wait for Vertumus to update his ICS Domination theme (soon), then install a deodexed version of the release and flash ICS Domination theme over it.
Then get Nova Launcher from the market.
If that's still not close enough to stock AOSP for you, then you should consider an CM9/AOSP based ROM and live with the bugs (for now).

been using Prestige X Rom for quite a while now and its been nice and smooth up to a while now...but the developers seem to be unreliable to bring out any new builds...
so im looking is there a stock like clean rom without bloatware with windows 7 icons and decent performance that looks like this...the screen is not hard to make its just CHT with the shorcuts and a custom wallpaper and it makes it look nice simple and unique...
ive snooped around and cant find anything like it and i dont like any of the icon sets on rom here that would look as nice and stock...not a fan of the stock icon sets either...
the only W7 theme i found is a bit outdated and you cant change lockscreen or certain bits and pieces of the rom cause devs did something to it...and the rom hasnt got any updates in a few months now...so if any willing to make a theme to go with the newest ROMs or a ROM like it with all the updates would get a nice donation from me

I agree with you prestige-x hasnt released a new premium rom for over 6 weeks. The still take your money to be able to access the premium site but nothing happens there.
yeah it sucks...i tried a few other roms but their either to plain or too fancy...they say that their releasing new roms soon but lmao theres no word from them for a few weeks now.
Hey Guys
It may be a silly question but I was wondering why the official release still looks like gingerbread I mean obviously some parts look like ICS but others dont, why is this ?
This can be fixed with a theme editor I guess but I was just wondering why, when O2 release this to customers will it still look as it does now ?
Yes it will as samsung are so in love with touchwiz that they should marry it.
I use spb shell so will stick to that.
But use any launcher to get the look you want. When Im not using spb use launcher pro as it gives you a wide scope to play with

Hey person from Telford! nice to see another.
This is the way ICS will look on the SGS2. Samsung wouldn't change from this look as it could potentially alienate a lot of their 20million customers.
Hey guys thanks for the answers, so whats the best way to make it look how its ment to is there a hack to get the look or is the best way via a theme ? the reason I ask is because I have come across this guy http://www.samsung-galaxy-s2-android.com/rom-android-403.html
that is the look I want and he seems to have got the look with earlier versions
The way to get the stock look is with a theme like my ICS RED
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535956
or with a custom ROM.
thats diffrent so if I look for that but im guessing th blue one im after that should do me thanks

The problem is that AOSP isn't 100% functional yet.. video recording, MTP and some other things don't work yet and they will remain that way until samsung releases sources or xplodwild finishes his kernel ^^
oooohhhhhh its all starting to make sense now, that makes sense so its just a waiting game really then we can install the google version and its then happy days, so thats what this guy is doing and the CM9 guys
I guess what they do now then is backwards engineer what Samsung has released and work from there
I'm also interested in this. Basically I want a change from always looking at the same menu after a year and i had hoped ics would give it but im hearing it all looks the same cause of touchwizz. So I'm hearing different things, some people say install a theme, others say install a launcher and yet others talk about installing a new rom?
The Ressurection Rom looks quite cool, is it really a bugfree experience? Do i have to reinstall all my programs, downloaded apps and stuff like battlenet authenticator?
Can I install the ressurection rom now or do i need to wait till my phone has ics installed trough kies?
What is the best way to go to get a smooth ICS type experience? Whats the main difference between these things? (sorry im a noob by the way and theres so much information on this site its hard to get a grip on it).
Have a look at the link i put up I think the best thing is to install that rom after its been updated again with the new version of the ics that was just leaked

Nova launcher will give you a stock ics like experience. Worth a try
in the market for free.
I was wondering if anyone with more expertise in deving than myself work on the UCLC5 ICS leak to fix bugs/ useful add ons which don't take away from TW. ie, take away the bloatware, streamline app drawer and folders etc., but keep Samsung/TW stuff while also working to make more stable. BUT RETAIN IN AS CLOSE TO STOCK CONDITION AS POSSIBLE.
NOT AOSP- I had my HTC inspire on a pretty nice AOKP based ROM for some time and while I liked it alot, I'm in the mood for something new now w/ my note.
I'm assuming we'll need the source from Sammy before alot of this work can begin though. Is anyone planning on it when the time comes?
-thanks

I'm hoping DesignGears would be the one to do this. He was the one behind Cognition on the Captivate, which was a tweak on the stock rom. No ugly color tweaks or fonts or different layouts.
Anyways, he did bring us the ICS leak so I'm just hoping he will eventually come to the Note.

I believe he is raising funds to buy a Note by a certain date so he definitely has interest in it.
I will be messing with it as soon as the source drops. I am not deving wiz but I look forward to making a bad ass rom for our notes. I have a Gingerbread rom made that I use as my back up but I only want to release ICS baised roms seeing how this is were all roms will be heading

I'm considering buying this great phone but TouchWiz makes me really upset. The thought of using it everyday after being used to my Galaxy Nexus interface is not sitting well. So is getting a launcher like Apex or Nova the best way to get a stock look? Or will a custom Rom be best? Are there any Roms currently available with a completely stock look and feel?
Custom ROMs are the best, and many like cyanogenmod or beans can provide the stock feel for you, but while the boot loader is still locked, launchers are the best choice and you also get to keep the Samsung apps, like camera and some gestures and what not

I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus as well, and had AOKP. I picked up an S4 the other day.
So far, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I installed Nova Launcher to get the look and feel of stock back. The free version has an option to use stock icons and my now my home screen itself looks pretty much exactly the same as it did before. The apps, of course, are not stock, and I'm toying with the idea of swapping out the messaging app for the stock one. The contacts app is better than stock in my opinion, and I like having Facebook contact integration back.
The notification bar is similar to AOKP's notification bar, and I am generally not bothered by it. The rest of the stuff that bothers me (pointless bloatware, etc.), are easily resolved after rooting. I also just copied over the notification sounds from my Galaxy Nexus and am just about as happy as I will get.
My two cents, anyway.
Won't the stock Android be ported from the Google version of the S4? That's what I'm hoping for.

^^^ THAT!
There's a couple ROMs out there right now. I'm currently using an unofficial CyanogenMod port, and an official build should be out sometime soon.

Every since the ics release ui hasn't hardly changed a bit from ics to jb ui,the biggest change over from any android
O.s was from gb to ics.
Anyone agree that Jb roms aren't even remotely unique as they used to be with the gingerbread o.s and older o.s systems .
The way Roms, were themed and made back in the day to compared to every single custom rom now for jb aside from a few setting tweaks they are all the same looking .. almost as if theming is hard and it's to much work for devs to make they're roms ui look, different from any other . This is only speaking on original android development based of stock release .
What's the point in flashing anymore .
Unless you go for a TOTAL Change over with cm10 or aokp, stock based roms lack a unique ui, and theming from Rom to Rom, they all mimic stock with maybe power toggles built in and a claimed battery saving kernel.
This must be why at the end of the day everyone reverts back to their stock nandroids.

I have not yet flashed, but you don't mention that many of the ROMs are dodexed, which makes them faster. Maybe it isn't that important with the faster processors these days.
Also, the chefs are putting in a lot more than meets the eye - more than eye candy (depending on the chef, of course).
I'm not using their ROMs right now, but I value their work and dedication.
I don't know why you're complaining. Clearly you have no idea what a launcher is. That's what the "LOOK" you're talking about is. Devs now focus on making roms clean and run more efficiently. YOU can make it look however YOU want. The dev doesn't need to clutter the base rom with stuff most people won't use.
