Open superuser, check in settings, there's an option to full unroot your device, next step would be to restore stock recovery, how? I dunno, we don't currently have an image, but you can look in the OTA file for your device.

By performing stock ruu u get the bootloader and stock recovery back thenu can simply flash the stock rom u have backed up before rooting u r done super user will also be removed!
Next step will be to write the CID which is same as changing it but u should know ur default code after this get S-on(not necessary)
If u r on ICS use hasson's AIO toolkit and select mainver fix option that's how it would let downgrade the hboot and ruu(rom)

No bricking chance. But yes u can loose root. If u have s-off just reroot. If not htc unlock again and reroot. Or downgrade hboot and s-off before or after

Depends on how far some developers went into disabling OTA. Some delete the OTA cert files and send the OTA link to a void link. Check your build.prop and see the lines for OTA. Compare them to a stock build.prop to change back if necessary and check your system/etc/security directory and check that the otacert.zip and other files are still present.

Basically it sounds like you want to go back to stock non-rooted. Because if you take an OTA you will lose your root. I would just look for a stock (rooted or non) ROM depending on what you want and flash that. Just back it all up before you do depending on what your needs are. There is also the option to use an RUU of your choice and start back from square one...

[Q] Amaze 4g ICS Rooting?

Hi there,
I have yet to find a specific answer searching other threads, so I am posting here...
Is there a way to Root the updated Tmobile ICS update?
I thought about flashing another ROM like Cyano9, etc. but mostly I want to remove the crappy bloatware that is on the ICS update.
Obviouslly, I don't want to brick my device, but all I've seen on the forums are the Gingerbread versions of the root process...I've heard it won't cooperate with the same methods using it for ICS.
Thanks...
Same method to root for GB will work on ICS nothings changed.

Ideas?
Hi there,
Thanks for the help...I suspected as much, but I needed to check from those who tried and succeeded. I was looking at the site theunlockr.com for a one step root. Is this for real?
One more question - I've rooted my old phones before, but I always new where to get the original Tmobile file in case I wanted to revert back to the original ROM...does anyone know where I can find the ICS Tmobile ROM just in case I root and either it doesn't work or I decide to return to bloatware-central?
For some reason, I am more nervous to root this phone than my older ones...I'm afraid of a brick...
Thanks again!:good:

The only rooting method that's gonna work is the version via hasoons tool.
1. Unlock your bootloader
2. flash a custom recovery
3. Install SuperSu.zip
Once you're s-on, which you are, you're safe from bricks, since you can't change the files that would cause a brick.
The stock tmobile ruu is available in the dev section in the stock ruu/ota thread.

looking to help a friend root her evo

Just a quick question why are there two dev sections for this device? what is the difference? is one for the older gb and froyo roms and the new for ICS and soon to be jellybean? I am looking into how to root this for a friend. I have a samsung gs2 with an unlocked bootloader I have never rooted a phone with a locked bootloader. So how do you guys go about this? For my phone I have a pc program called odin that does low level flashing so all I do is use it to install cloclworkmod or twrp and then flash su and install the.apk and busybox. Is there sometihng similar for this phone or does everything have to be done by ADB? If someone explains which dev section I should go to I will figure it out myself but the more info yoy guys can give me the better. I do still have to find out what software my friend has. I also want her to do this by herself so I want to be able to explain it to her. Thanks in advance.
Use this. It's doesn't it all for you.

The Android Development and Original Android Development forums are organized pretty much as they sound: Original Development will have threads for programs, mods, roms, kernels, etc. that are the original work of the developer. Android Development has threads for those that are built off of someone else's existing work (e.g. A rom that is a collection of tweaks pulled from other roms). I agree with the previous poster on using regawMOD, it is the simplest way to unlock the bootloader, flash a recovery and gain root access all at once. That being said, if your friend is on 1.22.651.3, there is an additional step to manually move the root package to the sd card. Read page 80-84 on the dev's thread for more info.

Just use the evo lte toolbox and do htcdev unlock. It's a little more complicating then odin l,Odin is more like using an RUU and turning it into a kitchen to flash modified roms

AT&T HTC One X+ CM10 and Root

Hi,
i searched everywhere couldn't find anything about the AT&T verison of HTC One X+ and CM10
Is there a way to root the ATT version and install CM10 on it???
Read only about the international version yet. Don't want to brick my new phone.
Thanks.
Nope, there's still a bit of a wait on CM10/ASOP for AT&T/TELUS users. When a usable version is ready, it'll probably be here with [AT&T/TELUS] in the title.
damm was so hoping to change my devices from s3 to htc thanks mate.
Currently using the cm10.1 for s3 expermintal. i think when nightly last night.

So, the experimital CM10.1 is running on your HTC One X+. I have the same phone and I have unlocked it from HTC's web site. I'm a noob and don't know a lot about this stuff. Still learning. Should I try any mod or wait? I really want to get the AT&T crud off of my phone. Like I said, my phone is unlocked now.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
There are several non experimental roms you can install already just to get rid of the at&t stuff. Also you could root it and use titanium backup or root uninstaller or something to just get rid of unneeded stuff. If it were me, I would not DARE try anything experimental with my new phone, especially something cm10 related because pretty much all the devs have said there is nothing ready yet on that avenue.

OK, I'm new here and I really thank you all for any advise. I will read on and try to find some of these existing ROM's. This is probably a REALLY big noob question. If my phone is unlocked, does that mean it is rooted?
BTW, I also thank you for the advise on not using any experimental roms. I won't touch unless I know for sure. This new phone is a gem and I don't want to screw it up.

Unlock is unlock and root is root
Indeed. You have unlocked the bootloader which is step 1. Now you need to root which is step 2. There is an all in one tool in the android development forum you can use to root. That might be the easiest way to go. Once you are rooted you can get root uninstaller for free from the play store or titanium backup. Titanium is probably better choice there. You could also flash a rom through recovery that is already rooted but most of those require you flash the kernel seperatly so if you are.very new i probably wouldnt do that just yet. Read up on the process first. Hope that helps.

Thanks! My problem is this..... I used the HTC step by step from http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
I got through the step where the instructions say to Mark - Right Click Copy - Paste into the HTCDev.com website
I then followed the instructions on through until the phone was unlocked.
At step 39 the instructions say to -
Reboot your phone into Fastboot mode and type the following in command prompt:and
type and execute at the cmd prompt -
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
OK, I finished these steps and am now stuck at step 40.
I then copied the CWN-SuperSU-v.0.87.zip file to the root of my phone storage
The phone won't boot in to recovery at all
What is the CWN-SuperSU-v.0.87.zip file for and do I need to complete the step by rebooting using it in recovery mode? It will not boot in to recovery anyway.
So my phone was wiped and unlocked but back to the original AT&T build and I don't understand where I pick up in the process.
This is the point where I get confused. I research and read everywhere too. I know my phone is unlocked for sure. It's not bricked yet. :fingers-crossed:
I don't know where I pick back up with the process using some of the recommendations you guys have given me.

For returning your device back to original condition I would recommend taking a look at this guide, it will show you how to re-flash the stock ROM for your device. As far as a custom recovery is concerned I would recommend taking a look at this thread where you can download Clockworkmod Recovery for your device. Let me know if you still have questions .

The first step is to root your device using SuperOneClick, next flash Clockworkmod Recovery following the instructions in that thread, finally download Cyanogenmod 9 (Which is based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) and flash it using the instructions in that thread. After that you will have a custom ROM on your device (Note before flashing Cyanogenmod make sure to backup all your apps, media, contacts, etc. that you don't want wiped when installing a new ROM, Titanium Backup is a great application for doing this, things such as your contacts can be synced to your Google account and then restored when setting up your device for the first time after flashing Cyanogenmod 9). Let me know if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
