silly question but i'm really tired of being stuck to "microsoft" colors on the default tiles.
Is there anyway of getting them to display in black on a "locked" phone?
I know all about so called apps that profess to do it but I want to keep the functionality of the old tiles but just want them black.

Unfortunately, there are no way to do this currently, at least not without unlocking your device. If your phone isn't unlocked, you're out of luck for now.
I may be wrong but I think that to have black tiles you can flash a different firmware (for example the one for T-Mobile Germany).
Lumia 800 black tiles
Yes, operaters can add one custom colour, if your Lumia is unbranded, you'll have Nokia Blue, T-Mobile have that cool grey colour.
Sadly we can not change tile colors to custom colors. For this we need to be able to interop unlock the phone (sorta jailbreak/root). There used to be an exploit, it is gone though.
Well, I don't understand why colors are predefined in the first place... It would be nice if it was fully customizable. That would be confusing to some people though...

I've searched around a lot, but haven't seen if this could be done yet. I've heard that WM6.5 can do it easily, but I want to know if we can do it on 6.1 somehow.
I am no programmer/coder but if we can modify .task files and change the colors of the taskbar, shouldn't it be possible that we can make it clear/invisble too? Just curious.....
I think the screen would look much bigger if we could remove the bars yet keep the buttons there...
it can't be don without using something like spd pocket plus
the normal shell only support 1 colour given to the titlebar
and not even all colours then it does the garient shiny stuff itself
no way around that not even a way to get the colours it dont use
like white or something
Ok, thanks , I'll check out that app.
Hello there, noob here
I'm getting confused with all the info about the SGII out there, so I wonder:
1) I've got the Lightning ROM installed and it says there in the desc "better camera", is this a different hack from the one Potatoman released here? And if it is, can I savely install the 192kbps audio hack with that ROM and do I lose the camera improvements that came with that ROM?
2) Is there a way to invert the system colours easily, like have dark text on white background instead of the bright text on black background thingy?
I mean not just for themes (e.g. homescreens etc) but for the system menus etc, so it'll have a coherent, seemless look? I did stumble upon the "Change colours" tutorial here but it seems rather tricky and I'm scared to fiddle with the system files on my own :/
Or is there -perhaps- some ROM out there that includes such already?
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the white text on black bg is bad per se but I find it easier on the eyes if it's the other way round (like it's on the iPhone *cough*)
Cheers!
As it says in the title, my Lumia 800 is developer unlocked, so I'm wondering if there's a way to get custom themes working on it.
I downloaded an app called Phone 8 that had a "launcher". Where you can customize the "homescreen" and its tiles.
It also worked in landscape mode and I was wondering if this were possible for the homescreen itself, atleast to some degree. I've seen in the WP7 forum that theres a few custom themes out. And I'd like to do that with the Lumia aswell.
I'd also like to be able to have a background image behind the tiles, and maby do them a bit transparent.
until we get interOP unlock and gain access to the registry we can't make any custom themes/ backgrounds.
A developer unlock can help you make changes to the tiles....custom tiles..

not until you can edit the registry. I did not see any attempts at unlocking/hacking WP8 yet to do this. Maybe a third party app will come along that allows that. Not yet though.
cheers

Okay - thank you.

They would have been better off with us using either hex codes or that circle thingy you change colour in, than to have premade ones.
I agree. I hope somebody can make an App for it like we used to have on WP7.5...
What I also would like to see, is some adjustable background colors instead of only white and black. Blue or the likes would really be nice, or even the possibility for a custom wallpaper. It's not much, but it gives the phone that extra touch of personalisation.
I think this is really quite something that could please users.
I'd absolutely love an option to truly customize the accent colors. I'm never quite satisfied with the built-in selection so hopefully this is something a clever developer will figure out how to alter.
Hi there,
I would like to know how I can change colours on my Android... Just like the blueish thing on the top bar, I can't stand it... Can't I just change it to white or else???
Why is'nt there any options to change that... I mean it's not a big ask is it
Vonz
I dont think you will be able to achieve this even if you are rooted. You have to install some custom ROMs which will proide you options for this. For ex: AOKP.
Mate, I have 6 ROMS in my BootMenu and NONE of them provides the option. I always wanted to do so since GB and now we have moved up it is still not possible. Even the themes do not cover the base frame and you still CANOT CHANGE THE COLOURS.
Appologies for my frustration but it seems that it is the simplest and the FIRST thing that any user will be trying to do if interested in customisation. I have all the custom ROMS in the world and still kicking around with the basic ugly blueish colours the designers arbitrarly choosed for us without implementing a simple menu to change them, what's the go with this??
Everybody is happy the way it is? No one wants to have a possibility to change layout colours?
