[Q] Restoring Nook Tablet 16GB to the Original Stock OS :HELP: - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my nook tablet 16GB to 2.3 first and then installed android 4.0. But now I really need to get it back to its original state because I need that microphone and other stuff working.
Anyway, here I am stuck on the CWM-Based Recovery v5.5.0.4. It wouldn't let me install any zip file that I put it on my microSD card. It also says that the image file is corrupt when I choose to install from the card.
Is there anyone who can help me get back to the original OS of Nook from my current Android 4.0 OS?

additional info
It looks like the CM9 (cyagon mod 9) has taken over of my tablet completely. It doesn't allow any other external images to get mounted. Also it wouldn't let me install firmware in any .zip file. Is there any expert who can help me out?

[Q] Writing a ROM file to SD card?

I have a Nook Tablet (NT8) which I am using with a custom ROM, which I downloaded from a site called 'Android for Nook'. It was in the form of an image file which I wrote to an SD card, giving me a bootable SD card, keeping the original Nook OS untouched. It appears to be based on CW7, and has lots of bugs. I am looking for something more stable. I recently came across this file:
cm-10-20121207-UNOFFICIAL-acclaim.zip
I have a lot of experience with flashing ROM files from recoveries and such on other Android phones. The Nook is a strange animal, because we are booting from an SD card. What I would like to do is boot from the recovery on the Nook's SD card, and flash that zip file over the old 'ROM' on the SD card. Essentially just as if I was replacing one ROM with another one on an Android phone. However, if I do this from the Nook's recovery, I will likely end up replacing the internal OS, which I want to keep intact.
Any tips on how I can take that zip file and make it into a bootable SD card would be appreciated.

Thanks. The image file is over a year old, but I might be able to make use of the updating instructions.

No, it isn't, it was just updated less than two weeks ago as well.

Mistakely flashed this!!!

I want to go back to stock. Will you please help me? I mistakenly flashed the internal version for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481826:(:(:(:(
Now I can't internally flash anymore I can only boot my c10 from my 4gb Sandisk microsd. So will anyone help me fix this and give me a way to be back to stock? Thanks in advance.

Write the repart image file to your SD card. Get it from here.

Try making a sdcard boot disk and insert then boot into CWM. Install CWM intenally and it will always load in the future regardless of what you flash. I have CWM installed internally which makes flashing and re-flashing super easy.
Search for your "Nook (your type 16gb 8gb, color or tablet) cwm sdcard boot" By forcing the boot from the sdcard your nook wont be able to boot into the broken or messed up operating system.
Once the OP is back to running stock ROM internally he/she should install internally the stock recovery and not CWM/TWRP recovery.
The repart image didn't help.
I'd suggest try flashing flash_stock_1.4.2.zip (from Succulent's recovery tool repo https://github.com/succulent/acclaim_recovery_sdcard) using SD-based CWM.
Thank you everyone who has helped me. I have found this link worked for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380235

[Q] Noob Alert! Nook Tablet 8GB Rooting Question!

Ok, so I have firmware 1.4.3 on my Nook Tablet. I have rooted my nook using this video (Please copy and paste this on Youtube, as I am new and cannot put in links) [How To] Root The Nook Tablet (firmware 1.4.3) In 10 Minutes or Less Tutorial. After rooting it, I believe it runs Android 2.2
Now, I was wondering how to upgrade this version of Android to say, Jellybean or Ice Cream Sandwich. Could someone explain these instructions to me clearly? I really want to do it, but I need clear instructions, as I am not that high-tech.
I also want a way in which it will not affect my barnes and nobles apps and data.
Help would be very appreciated! Thank you!

Well you don't just "upgrade" to Jelly Bean. The method you used is rather old. CM10.1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is currently the newest version available. Since you're new I suggest using a SDC image http://goo.im/devs/succulent/acclaim/cyanogenmod/image/cm_acclaim_10.1_21APR2013_HD_SDC_IMG.7z
All you need to do is write the image file to an SD card and you're good to go. Use win32diskimager to write the image file to your SD card.
The root I did boots from the internal memory...so I do not have to unroot my Nook and do your method? I can just burn the image into my sd and insert it in?

Yes. Everything runs off the SD card and not your eMMC (internal memory). If you want to unroot your tablet the easiest thing to do would be write this image file to an SD card and plug it into your nook.
http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/make-unbrick-repartition-image/
It's a repart image that will restore stock 1.4.2 rom.
As for the CM10.1 SDC ROM when you write it to your SD card it creates the partitions for you instead of you making them with a partitioning software. You may expand your DATA1 and SDCARD partitions MiniTool Partition Wizard (you'll see what I'm talking about once you write the image file.)
So I just plug in my sd card and the nook unroots? Is there anything I have to do or click on the nook?
After I unroot, won't I get over the air update to 1.4.3? So is this new root you are telling me to do going to work for 1.4.3?
So lets pretend I unrooted my nook and burned the image into my sd card for the new root. I put in the sd card in my nook, and turn it on, and then its rooted just like that?
Did you do this to your nook? What are the chances of bricking my nook? Also I have an 8gb nook tablet...this root you are telling me to do works for it right?
Sorry for all the questions but I want to take extra precautions not to brick my nook. And thank you so much for your help!

You can keep your internal rooted stock rom if you want, I was just suggesting you could use the repart image which deletes your partition and rewrites stock 1.4.2 right out of the box. This blocks over the air updates, so your nook won't update to 1.4.3 (you don't need it anyways because it only blocked rooting).
When you put the repart image SD card into your NT it will show a screen saying "Installing New Software" then a green checkmark will appear. Take your SD card out and it will start to Install New Software. Once it's done you'll have a fresh out of the box Nook! (kinda)
Rooting is simply the process of giving a device "administrator privileges" or root access to change all files. The new ROMs come pre-rooted so you don't need to root your device at all. When using the SDC CM10.1 image it will create the 4 partitions on the SD card for you (and you expand them later for more app space.)
When you write the CM10.1 image file to your SD card then put it in your nook. It will boot Cyanoboot and will start "SDC Boot" which will boot your ROM. There is a 0.01 % of you bricking your device during this process, so you are safe.

So just to make sure, it is ok for me not to unroot and turn my nook into stock 1.4.2? It will work on 1.4.3? And if I do not unroot, will this use up alot of battery when I put in the Jellybean ROM via SD Card? Can the Nook Tablet be able to handle Jellybean well?
Also, the SD card I used to root my nook into the old Gingerbread was a "Patriot 32gb Class 4". I already fixed up the SD card so it is back to 32gb again...can I use this type of SD card for the Jellybean root? I do not have a Sandisk.
The repart image takes your NT back to stock 1.4.2, from which you should be able to upgrade to stock 1.4.3.
To create a CM10.x SDcard see http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/cm10-1-jellybean-android-4-2-2-for-nook-tablet-0218/ and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098419.
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005633 for extensive discussion of comparative performance (for the purpose running ROM) of SD cards of various makes/models.
Thank You!

This is exactly what I needed. I tried looking around and either a link didn't work or I couldn't get something else to work. Now I just have to figure out how to open up some space on it. Seems to only allow me to use a quarter of it. More searching tomorrow! Thank you to the OP for posting this also! Quick question, if I remove the SD card will that remove cm10.1 from the nook? Not sure if it's on just the SD or internal. Oh and one more question how do I access the Barnes and Noble part now? Mainly just the book part. If I can't I can always covert to .mobi and continue to use my kindle app. Thanks again. I foresee me having lot's of fun with this.

If you remove the sd card you'll boot into the BN system again and get full access to everything there.
To get more storage space on the card you can use for example Mini Tool Partition software (that's the one I use, but I know there are other free ones available as well), and change the storage partition to use up all the unallocated memory on the card.

[SOLVED] Nook Tablet 8GB SD Recovery 6.x.x

I don't normally do this I just lurk around for my questions but this time I really give up. I have done plenty of work with 16 gb stuff, but never 8 GB nook, trying to install CM 10.2 on a friend's 8GB Tablet, the issue is I cannot seem to find an img for clockworkmod I can just burn to an SD card, lavero.burgos guide requires CWM to already be installed into the internal recovery, but what if I take a clean nook out of the box, are there no CWM images I can burn straight to the SD version 6.x.x and after?
The other method seems to be the one where you create the partitions manually. Which is fine and all, and my device is obviously doing something, but it locks up on the cattonbox and doesn't continue on to CWM. Things I have tried:
1. putting in MLO first after freshly creating 0x0c partition (yes its active) and then the other files for custom SD-recovery
2. replacing the recovery in lavero burgos zip with the cwm_6012.img file, renaming it recovery.img
3. also tried renaming the file instead to boot.img that some guy recommended
4. have tried another sd, rinse, repeat
All the "SD" burnable images are either invalid, or have no partition information. The custom SD method has some sort of issue. I do plug in the cable. The problem isn't getting it to recognize the SD card as a bootable media, the problem is getting to go into CWM, I'm all out of wit, it's been two days man, basically:
HELP?
EDIT: Just tried cwm_6033.img; no dice. These images are supposed to be 8GB Friendly I believe. I don't understand what gives
EDIT 2: Great. I wasted some freaking space on the forum. Sorry guys. Use cwm_6033, rename boot.img, and hold "N" when the trash box comes up. Yay

[Q] How do I access SD Card ?

I'm hoping someone can help me with the problem I have.
I have a MX2 Android TV Box and flashed it with Linux software, then I flashed Matricom firmware Android), running 4.2.2.
When I try to access the SD card in recovery mode it doesn't allow me to do this - Apply from EXT, update from SD card, then it's blank. I've formatted several times and confirmed the files are there but they don't show in recovery.
When I open Winzip/File manager on the box I can see my files there. I want to flash the box again back to Linux but can't from SD because the files won't show up. I'm not sure what to do with 'Update from ADB', (is this an option)?. I've since been told that in Matricom System Recovery (3e) it is stock so wont let me flash anything else.
I want to restore the box on Linux, I dont mind about losing anything as ive got everything backed up.
I don't have a lot of knowledge with these things but want to learn if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks
