Push it to system/apps and change permissions to match the permissions of the other apps in there, reboot.

Pushed all the widgets and home to system, set perm to 644 and nothing happened. I tried also with Uninstall XPERIA Home.zip option, but neither that helped. I've also experimented and made a nandroid backup, made full wipe, freshly installed minicm 2.2.0, tryed both options for installing, and nothing.

I just flashed the new sc 2.5 and now my LauncherPro app will not let me make any changes that require a restart. It has happened before and i fixed it by deleting /dbdata/databases/com.fede.launcher in root explorer, but it is not working now. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, it's working fine for me. Did you wipe before you flashed sc 2.5? If so, did you try uninstalling LP and then reinstalling it clean?
I wiped cache and dalvik cache, i think it might have something to do with the VA Green theme because it has themed widgets and the apk is in system/app instead of data/app. It will not let me completely remove it because everytime i delete anything to do with it in Root Explorer, it goes right back.
I would restart. Wipe data, not just cache and davlik and let's see if that helps...
I somehow got it working so I'm just gonna leave it for now and not mess anything up.

I wiped everything before installing and then restored my apps with Titanium Backup. Launcher Pro is working perfectly. No theme installed yet.
Same thing happening here. Going to wipe data and see if that solves it.

YEA what he^^ said.. I just did a full wipe and installed v55 yesterday, then I saw that v6 was up so I flashed that on top.. I have had a few FCs but no big deal
Wolfbreak himself recommends us to do a fresh installation of the new v06 update, which means starting from wiping and installing the base v05 first.

- Do a full wipe.
- Clean cache.
- Clean Dalvik cache.
- Wipe battery status.
- Install WB v05.
- Reboot, log in into Market, etc.
- Install WB v06.
- Install your apps manually. I installed them using Titanium Backup, no data restore, just the apps, and got no FCs.

like in titanium, for the batch mode
all of them are 'restoring missing apps with DATA'

dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only=0
-> dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only=1
When I installed Miren Browser,get many FC.
I changed it and get no FC
but I cant test your situation, so please test yourself.
I hope youe FC is solved.

Yea you can. Under the batch command just select restore and on the next window you have the option to restore app+data, app only or data only.
Just that 1 line can change the fate of my X10? Cool..

Wolfbreaks V06 update problems???
I did the V06 update tonight and i had abunch of force closes and now my phone is locked on the sony ericsson logo screen when i tried a reboot to enter Xrecovery but Xrecovery isn't working. Nor does the sony update service work to repair/ reflash the stock 2.1. does anyone know what i need to do or is the ****ed? I've never had any problems flashing custom roms till now. I don't know what i did wrong.
How is it not letting you update from SEUS? It just doesn't detect it or what? If so restart your computer and try it again.

Slnkmt is right. SEUS should be able to reflash your phone to stock 2.1. Although i would suggest removing battery and reinserting. I had to do that when i broke my phone to make sure SEUS can detect it..

Before I start, I've been looking around the forums for the past 2 days and I couldn't find a definitive answer so I made and account and decided to post this
This is my first time trying to install a custom ROM. I'm trying to install the CM6 Froyo ROM and I'm a bit unsure of which version to download and how to install the hotfixes. I have xRecovery installed and a backup of the stock ROM and I'm not really sure where to go from there. If someone could give me a quick guide and explain which version to pick and how to install hotfixes I would be really grateful
I have the Mini Pro with 2.1.1.A.0.6 FW and the M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 baseband.

EDIT: Also just before I begin, I have a backup of my sms + contacts etc from the stock SE Backup and Restore app. Will this work on this ROM or what are my options? (I reflashed my phone to stock FW using SEUS so everythings gone, I only have the .sbf backup on my PC)
I'll wait for a reply before I flash this ROM 'cos I don't want to have done it only to find out I have to revert to stock to get all my contacts and messages back :/ lol

I don't remember if this rom has se backup&restore app installed, but i think you can download it from se website.
Edit: I haven't used it, because i always keep my contacts on sim card and i didn't need to keep messages.
If you make an xrecovery backup of your se rom before you start installing custom rom, and then find out that you can't get you contacts&messages back, you can always use that backup to come back to se rom and it will have those contacts and messages.

I read somewhere that the apk won't install since it's not an official SE ROM? :/ So I'm not sure what to do. Anyone able to confirm or disconfirm this? If not, is there any other way to back it up before I install it?

Backup contacts using the stock backup option in the 'contacts' then backup sms using the 'sms backup and restore app' from market. Then flash new rom and install the sms backup app again and hit restore. I don't know if wil work because I only have the mini not the mini pro

Ok, so I've flashed the custom ROM about 10 times now trying to get backups and messages accross lol. I got it to work, but 4500 messages being imported at once was causing some serious issues so I've just decided to leave the messages and I used a vCard backup to save my contacts and import them again . I understand a lot of stuff now about various things with ROM's Thanks to both of you for your help, it has really helped me get started

The process for new roms coming with CWMrecovery shouldn't be too different, if you ever want to try those.

Did you try to copy(merge) that Home apk to System/App folder, and set permissions for that Apk, than reboot in Xrecovery, wipe cash, wipe dalvik cash and fix permissions then reboot again?

I tried exactly that, but the launcher still doesn't start up. I'm glad that I have another six launchers at my X10... But it would be cool if the good old launcher worked again.
Now I'm pretty convinced that 2.0.A.0.22 needs some file(s) that Achotjan Xperia S doesn't have.
HEY GUYS , A BIG HELP NEEDED... Tried installing NEW Jb(YUGA LAUNCHER) Via recovery but initially tried putting home .apk via root explorer in sys/apk and replaced by mistake and permission wasn't proper and not 644 and so no home launcher itself now but i backed up home.apk via Titanium back up pro but unfortunately couldn't install that from custom recovery and I can only install zip from sd card from custom recovery.. I tried changing permissions of my home.apk from android commander but no use .. it said I need root access but I do have root access.. super user.. walkman and everything ... I don't wanna flash full stock rom again..
can someone be kind enough to give me stock home ics 4.0.4 .587 sk17i which I can install from Custom recovery..

Thanks for the reply , I appreciate it.. but under cwm i don;t know where can i change the permissions.. under advanced I couldn't find such option , i went through forum and tried it but I dont have such options under advanced .. I just havereboot recovery, wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery status, report error, key test and show log I am not good at abd plus and so need some help if that's a solution
phew.. finally used SE tweak installer with adb and installed my apk back up
