Is your su and su binaries up to date?

[Q] needing help rooting bell atrix 2.3.6

Hey guys, i got my atrix earlier this morning and have been trying to root and unlock the device. While unlocking the devices was easy thanks to this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423
got got to the end of it and my atrix says unlocked when it boots up which is great but i can't seem to root the devices i have tried a lot of the thread here, i won't be able to fix the ram problem without root .Could anyone help me out?
As far as i know there is no direct rooting method for 2.3.6 yet, ideally you would have been better off rooting 2.3.4 and using OTA Rootkeeper and then updating to 2.3.6. Shouldn't be long before someone comes out with a root method for your version.
hmm so i'm stuck with this for now? i came from a rooted milestone so i don't really know but i can't flash any rom for now right?
After a little surfing the guys down in Brazil claim to be rooting their Atrix phones running 2.3.6 using the SuperOneClick method i'm not sure if you've tryed it yet but it's worth a shot.
SuperOneClick thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
If you can't find a working SuperOneClick download link there's this one:
http://uploading.com/files/get/3mb694ea/
Edit: As for the installing of custom ROMs without root i'm not to sure about that sorry.
thanks a lot i'll try if it works
Edit: it seems that it is working you just made my day even better
edit 2: i got superuser installed but i can't seem to be able to delete/rename the install-recovery.sh as stated in the guide' i'll try to see what is wrong
edit 3: i am rooted and titanium back up works i'll take a break and figure out the rest later thanks again
Try using the root explorer in the ROM Toolbox app, supposedly some file explorers will not give you the proper access levels to delete or rename the files correctly. Read that in tayshun12's thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423
GREAT it workeD cwm is working now and the ram fix is there i suppose ( i got about 500mb free annd around 200mb used THANKS AGAIN
now i have to try to fix the wifi problem
You're quite welcome glad i could be of some help

skygo on root phone?

hi xda
1- i got couple of question
i heard that skygo is not working on rooted phone is there any tweak to run sky go on rooted phone?
2- if i install new custom rom will that count on as different 2nd device or that will b same device
thanks
I'd also be interested in this, was glad to see that the SkyGo app for android had FINALLY been released... but then to find out it wouldn't work on my SGS or TF....... There's no way I'm going to use an unrooted device, so either their is a way of tweaking it, or flash streams it is!
Try a search question has been asked not sure if their was a fix.

Change to latest speedmod kernel it works in that apparently.
Or from market get OTA rootkeeper it temporarily unroots and works, I've tried this method to get mine working.

[Q] Galaxy S2 Root

Hi all,
New to all this. Have performed a root using the instructions here. Thanks lyriquidperfection
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
Seemed to work ok, just installed first insecure kernal on the list without matching to my kernal, it installed Superuser but not Busybox, so installed that from the market.
The reason I wanted to root it apart from 4.0.4(needs to be rooted?) coming soon was in the hope I could get shot of some of the locked apps Samsung and Google installed on it. Busybox looks to me that you need to know what you are doing to use it. So the question is is there anything simple I can use to get rid of the locked apps that I don't want?

Thanks Sun, that will help greatly
Wonder why they make it so complicated, most of the pre-installed stuff is a lot of tosh, then again so is the Market stuff

Probs running Busybox

Hi
Am trying to unlock GTS 5830i. Have followed guidance on internet re rooting then running Busybox then Galaxy Ace Unlock etc.
I get the or, or, or....whenrunning the unlock prog.
Although I let smart install finish I notice that I don't get the option to do the smart install (blue?) after hitting install etc. I just get message saying it looks like the installation of busybox was succesful......... When I run the unlock prog I get the inevitable or or or......
Is there a stable version of BusyBox that works with the GTS 5830i? One of versions I used said it was unsuitable for my device etc.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem?
Many thanks for your time.
Simon
Update:
Have now tried BusyBox Pro but still no joy.
