Battery temperature? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

My battery temp
On standby is around 28 C
When using wifi and surfing then goes to max 45 C
Is that normal. Also after playing crazy birds space version after 15 minutes i got force close annd battery is also around 40 - 45 C
I am using minicm 2.1.9 and + nAa 11 on my x10mp

Come on. Am I only one with this problem?
Sent from my U20i using xda premium

Nope, if i watch some videos online (WiFi enabled), then my phones temperature goes till 48 C. I doubt this is normal. By the way, am using minicm7 pro v21 for my mini-pro u20i. And at standby it is 28 C, same as urs. I initially thought it might be some battery calibration problem, but re-calibrating it didn't make any difference.

In standby i got 21C and max is 42C that my battery heated.

I haven't checked though whether the issue exists with stock rom on u20i (but i don't recollect battery heating up to such high levels which would make me feel the difference) and unluckily am little lazy to check now But would really like some suggestion regarding heating problem, cause the phone gets heated up very badly and i am quite concerned about what impact it could have on the components of the phone itself

@matthias1203, where you able to get any solution for this? The temperature today completed a half century for me It reached 50C. Really would like some solution or suggestion for this...

normaly my phone on standby is around 35-40c. with wifi it goes to around 45c with bluetooth and wifi around 50.

Don't know any solution. I guess that is normal. Mine goes from min: 25 to max: 45

I don't think that, my mini's battery temperature is 23°C with wifi ON

Since I have third-party battery my battery doesn't show temperature any more but I remember that the stock one had 45° after a lot of skyping with wifi...

How hot is your x10?

Hi everyone
mine is sexy and hot a hell but it's not good
it works at 38C and when watching video or playing games it gets to 40C
and at 41C it reset and kinda smell like burning
I use "Battery monitor widget pro"
please tell me your device temp
Buy an aftermarket cooler.Noctua is good..Mugen 3 not bad too.
yeah x10 runs hotter than any phone I've ever owned..
no wonder so many people have motherboard issues and battery dies so quick.

yeah my hero ran hot too..
my newer HTC barely gets to 30 degrees even overclocked to 2ghz
I always have my x10 clocked to the max with smartassv2, and it normally gets anywhere between 30 - 38 degrees with normal usage. Watching videos and stuff gets it to around 40, games get it to 40 - 51. I normally don't let it get up to 50 though.
And if you can smell something burning, that should be a good indication to give it a rest...
Guess I just got a lucky x10

That's true, but only because I'm overclocking so much. On stock clock speeds it rarely goes above 40.

That is quite true. Compared to all of my friends HTC's, Samsung's, LG's, Moto's and even iPhones, my phone is probably hot enough to cook eggs on.
so I guess it's not fix properly
it's much better now after cpu fc fix but it still resets when go up to 40
what is my next move?
throwing it out?
because I don't want spend another 50$ and get nothing
Mine runs between 29 and 40 sometimes 45 after a lot of abuse while charging

Its quite cold here in Melbourne so my phone runs about 29 degrees average... Which is why I think I froze my battery now its draining super quick no matter what firmware I use. Oh well.

Even tho Skimminstones' reply was funny as hell ....
49 *is* pretty damn hot. Anything over 40 and I start to worry a bit, which does happen occasionally with some kernel betas, especially early on after that initial flash/till you do a couple of charge/discharge/reboot cycles. Running a kernel script before you flash the kernel tends to make this less of a problem I've found.
I'm running an early (stable) version of Siyah and I find the average temp of the device with light/no use is 23-25, moderate use is 25-27, 27-31 with heavy use (all dependant on ambient temp), and it sometimes gets up to 36-37 when charging, more so when the battery has less charge (say less than 40% or so). The temperature gradually drops as the battery charges & returns to "normal".
Without knowing what your setup is (i.e kernel, rom, etc), its hard to say what might be causing this.
But as far as I'm concerned, 49 is *not* normal.

For the temperature, it is quite high for me also. Especially around the camera cover, All of people I know have this high heat also.
Never measure by numbers..So I don't know about that
Phone used to get hot on stock roms but thats it
Mine runs very cool with my Anker battery. Never gets hot.

Its not, the MAX temperature of a phone Li-ion battery seams to be 60° C
mine is constantly 25~40 (MAX)
And high levels shorten battery life until next charge
The rate of degradation of Lithium-ion batteries is strongly temperature-dependent; they degrade much faster if stored or used at higher temperatures

Casings too will raise your temp, I had a cheap case I got with Koodo, and it kept all the heat in the phone, I removed it and my battery temps go down. although I keep it on when it's not charging. It's fine then.
My Galaxy Ace is always at 45 degrees......unless it was a miracle and the air-conditioner managed to cool it down
Herpderp iPad2.
No I don't care if you're anti-Apple.
I never saw my cell going to 45'C.!!! One interesting thing i noticied is that the temp is only high between 20-70% battery charging.. After that just 2-4 minutes temp goes to 30'C!! While gaming upto 35'C.. Only charging heats up my gizmo.. Never had this problem with NOKIA 5230..
My battery once had a temperature of 50 degrees
Sometimes, it also depends on how much you're stressing the CPU. If you're doing something heavy like a lot of multi tasking or 3D gaming, it'll heat up the battery and such. Just like using your phone while charging. Happened to me a lot before so I stopped that habit.
I use SetCPU to slow down Max CPU Frequency to 480 Hz when phone temp goes >40 C. That helped.
The SII gets VERY hot (About 65) when using the Onlive app.

I use 480Mhz because more continuous CPU cycles can definitely heat up the phone. This is why any phone heats up quickly when using it and charging it simultaneously. My phone temp has never gone beyond 40C. But I would start worrying and would not use it when its charging, if it'd gone beyond 40C.
And no offense, but those who say like 60C is normal. You guys are definitely hampering your battery life.

Battery drain with naa ics rom on mini pro

As I can't write in the dev forum ill have to ask here, any one else had a bad battery drain? I had 100 percent and than I had a sandwich and looked at my mini pro, it had 35 percent battery left?! So I read page 12 to 16 of the dev thread to see what people write and I had, after 10 min only 5 percent battery, I plugged the charger to the wall and now its rising at the same speed it dropped. Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like you need to calibrate your battery...
When it's empty, charge to full in one go, reboot into CWM - Advanced - Wipe battery stats.
2 or 3 times should fix it...

Charge ur phone to 100%. N try these settings.
Performance--
Min freq-245
Max Freq-how much ur phone goes to
Enable underclock.(most inp if u want to increase battery life)
N remove the unwanted apps like live wallpapers which u dont use n more.
Keeps min apps. This will definately give u a better batterly life. Mine goes for about 7-8 hours..( with edge + wifi + calls+ browsing )

I'm trying to empty the battery by playing music but there is close to no drain at all, 1 percent in 20 min, writing this strange but it must be screen and/or 3g..
Screen drains battery at the same speed at minimum light and at maximum...
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
well, screen and 3g are big batterydrainers normally, but what you described in the first post seemed mostly like a calibration issue, it may have been solved by you charging your phone again, just keep an eye on it, If you use your phone heavily (wifi, 3g, lots of calls or sms) you still should get about 8 to 10 hours of use out of it.

[Q] Should i return my phone or not

Hi every one
i have a problem and i would like to see your opinions about it
my phone tent to over heat when using 3G (in air conditioned room 40C - 45 C Outdoor)
ideal ( 35 C )
WiFi ( 37~40 C )
Gaming ( 39 C )
charging ( 40 C ) idel and (45 C) if i was Using it
by the way it's around 35 C here in Egypt now
i'v tried many modems but i still get the same temp
and by the way i can get about 4 ~ 4:30 Hours screen on time from the battery
i can return the phone but ....
the phone is more than perfect ,No screen problem , Very bright No tint of any kind , almost No ink marks , no connection problems , No hanging , no rebooting , no connection problem and very very fast
So what i want to know is
is this a battery problem , or its a hardware one
Cause if its a battery problem , ill be very happy to buy a new battery rather than exchange this prefect unit
and No , I don't have access to another S3 battery now to try
i'v only got 5 day to be able to Exchange it
so what do u think i should do
how is your battery life
the avg. use ive seen around here is 16 hrs.

What? The phone knows the max temp for the CPU and it will shut off if it reaches it. It's a lot higher than 45C.
I think you not need to worry. As stated before the phone will shut off if it reaches the limit temp. I was in Thailand earlier this year with my SGS2 and several times I was not able to charge it due to high temp the phone said. When it was some time in airconditon room I could charge it again

i know that the CPU will shut down the phone when it reach dangerous temp
all i was asking is , are these numbers i got okey , cause many reviews and users said that the phone doesn't heat up over 39 ?
and if not is it because of the battery ?

Clearly it does heat up over 39C if yours is.. if everything else on the phone is fine don't exchange it. Would you rather have a phone that is 5C hotter sometimes but perfect everywhere else or 39C with a possibility of dead pixels and such?

i with u on this one
my only fear is that heat could some how have a bad effect on the amoled screen or some other parts
any way i'v just got another battery from another s3 and i'll try it
i hope it's a battery problem
When I got my gs2 it was getting crazy hot 45-46° with normal use and I was about to return it,but after 10-12 days the CPU settled and from then on everything was ok.
It's the battery for sure
with this other battery i got from a friend my average temp dropped about 5 degrees all over in the same conditions
now i'll get my self an extra battery kit ( Battery Charger/Stand with extra 2100 mAh Battery )
thank god it's not the device it self

My temps are around 27c at idle with all wireless connections switched off, it barely get's over 35 when gaming and charging.
In all honesty, i would return the handset, 4 and half hours is pitiful.
You could try the battery but i'd say it's the handset.
At least that's my opinion.

Many people may be in cooler climates.. For example the last few weeks its been about 14c here and my phone has not gone over 30c
However today it was 25c hot sun.. And driving in my van using wifi and gps on the phone and it reached 50.9c. And was still working
So.. The hotter it is around the phone, the hotter the phone will get, the temps in your opening post dont look to bad, run time seems ok.. I think if you swap tje phone you will see the same thing.. My One X is the same if not hotter!
Its also a problem of having larger processors.. They generate heat, but dont have fans like pc's
