Happened twice today after flashing and reflashig a rom. So when trying to use handwritting mode the s-pen doesnt leave any marks on the screen...iknow the phone recognizes it(because the capacitive buttons turn on once the spen touches the screen) so it might either be a new app conflicting with smemo or might have been something i removed causing this problem...any ideas?

probably you did not activate the screen for writing - single tap screen once again to get to edit mode (first mode is display only)
Which ROM?

Mine started doing it a while back and it turned out to be my screen protector. I was using Stealth Guard protectors at the time.

Hmm, Im not using a screen protector.
Are those buttons along the bottom actually buttons, or are they just touch sensititve?
See if it tends to work better if you press it as soon as the button back lights go off.... I had to return my first vibrant because of this hardware issue.

Yes, it works better when the backlight goes off! Damn it, I don't want to have to return this phone. Its easy to get into download mode...
Could it have anything to do with the rom I'm running? (Obsidian v4) its supposed to support a kernel with backlight notification...

Did you try holding the power and volume down button? My keys wouldn't light and after the 3rd time I did that they started working.
I have the same issue.but I have a feeling its my proximity sensor.
I was using tab tab app to unlock the screen.
Tried it again and its not working.

Whoops. Lack of focus.
I believe the devs are already working on it :good::fingers-crossed::laugh:
I believe paranoid let's you choose which apps you want in tablet mode.
Why would you want onscreen buttons when you already have physical buttons? Seems like a waste of screen space to me.

On screen buttons allow navigation using the spen on non touchwiz ROMs.

First, yes paranoid allows you to choose DPI, tablet mode, and large screen per app.
Second, it has an optional nav bar, but...
Third, it supports spen gestures.
I recommend it.

Stock Verizon Note 2 on latest update. I've noticed my phone will not turn its screen off while I am making phone calls with my ears pressed against the phone. Which is quite annoying as my cheeks will inadvertently press buttons while I am on the phone. When I try downloading a proximity sensory check tool on the play store, the sensor appears to work fine.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the proximity sensor while making calls?
Have you looked in phone settings and made sure auto screen off is turned on?

That would be perfect, by chance, do you know where that option is located? When I go to Settings --> Display I do not see that option, I only see smart rotation and smart stay options.
Open the phone app pull up your menu and then select call settings

Many Thanks! I have no clue how that option was unchecked.

My phone's softkeys have started to fail and as such, I've started using an on screen replacement. What I'd like to do now is make it so the backlight for the soft keys stays off, or even better, if I can somehow completely disable them from responding to touch as well... Maybe a build.prop edit or something? They work just sporadically enough to be annoying at this point...
I use root dim from the market. Sometimes you have to set it again, but works pretty well

Kernel Tuner allows you to adjust the brightness as well.
Cool thanks guys.
What app are you using to replace the soft keys, because I have the same problem.
