Do any of you guys have white spot on your prime? Im not trying to be a pain in the ass but i paid a good amount of cash for it and was told about a white spot on lower area of tablet lol here are some pics the spot is easy to see
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
I have this too, though in a different spot. It only occurs when the screen is white, or close to white. I'm not sure what the problem is or if there is a fix.
I had the same thing. Ended up sending it in for RMA and getting it fixed song with other things.. They replaced the screen and all is well.
Oh ok so i can send it in to get fixed?

I've sent mine for the same problem.
It tooks ages to be repaired, but it will be repaired under warranty, so, I think, you can send it without any money loss (hopefully).
ok great thanks for the info so who do i have to talk to to get this shipped out like what nuber do i call or who do i email?
So im sending it in to see what they can do to fix it wish my tablet luck lol

my prime also has this spot. At least Asus is quite consistent with its failings too.

I sent mine in for the same thing. Was received March 26th, no update called in on 8th business day and was "escalated" so the RMA would show status. On April 5th updated to "repairing". Still hadn't heard anything since that so I called again today, they said since it was received on the 26th (even though RMA logged it as received April 5th so they look like they fixed it quicker) and I had proof with FedEx tracking # they escalated repair asking them to "expedite". We'll see how long "expedited" repair takes. Long story short for the same problem so far 2 weeks at facility and counting but yes it's a warranty repair.
update: received shipping notification today. Point of the story, don't let them walk all over you keep up on the repair process. I'll let you know if they fixed it and what they say they had to repair.
Its called LCD Mura. Its caused by a slightly thinner spot in the LCD display causing the backlight to be slightly brighter at that sport. i had it on 2 new primes and they both went straight back for a replacement...
off screen white spots
[ i m facing some strange issue in my canvad hd...i seen some white dots on screen during charging in off mode..when cell is not on...the charging image shows..in just above i seen white dots...i thought it dead pixel...but when i on my cell ..this dots gone...no dots there...only in off mode charging...they shows..what is this..ny idea...

Hello all,
Got my Transformer Prime on Monday, and just started playing with it today. Right off the bat, I notice that on white screens there is a blank white 'dot' that takes up a couple of pixels. It's almost like there is a hole in the screen, but you can't see it when the pixels are black. I attached a picture (to the right of the word 'medicine' - more noticeable in person).
Here's the conundrum - if I return it to Amazon, I will probably have to wait another month or however long before I get the tablet. If I keep the tablet, I'll probably be irritated with this white dot hovering on all my screens.
What to do! I'm assuming this is a hardware issue? Does anybody know how to figure out what it is?
UPDATE: Talked to Amazon. Only recourse is to send the tablet back. Estimated delivery date for a replacement is Jan 25th - Feb. 8th 2012.
UPDATE 2: Spoke too soon - an Amazon representative has placed an order for another Prime at $0, so that I can return my current one when I get the replacement. So I'm not without a tablet for months. Have to say, I'm impressed.
thats easily visible.
My OCD would never let me live with that. i would suggest you return it once the stock is up. most stores give you 2 weeks for returns.
Play with it for now, you might find other defects too.
I'd live with it and write it off as part of the perils of an early adoption.
Looks like some stuck pixels and you can try the following:
-Massage the area with light pressure.
-Grab or view a animated stuck pixel image (google it)
-or...it can go away on it's own after a little time.
other then that swap it out or just wait it out and see if it doesn't just go away.

Going to wait until the very last day of the return window (30 days), and see how stock is looking then.
I'm OCD for sure, but this is definitely noticeable. Not a catastrophe... but even my wife noticed.

Thanks a ton.
Light pressure doesn't work, at least for the minute I did it.
Trying JScreenFix app for 10 minutes. Will keep my fingers crossed. <--- Didn't work. Still there. But maybe got better?
pressure on the screen wont help. thats a manufacturing defect. It appears amazon offered you the best possible solution.
Now you can enjoy your prime, while the rest of us wait for stock

good on amazon, if i were you i would keep both.
give one to blaziner18, or me. I would like the broken one, give it to me. i want it, send it to me, ill pay... for it... please... GIVE ME IT NOW
FWIW, I have a dead pixel on my nook color tablet. It bothered me a lot at the beginning, but now I don't even notice it. But great that Amazon is taking care of that.
BTW, a swallowed pen in her stomach for 25 years!? I'd like to know what she was thinking when the doctor didn't believe that she swallowed the pen: "Hmm... well, OK, I'll just deal with this pen in my stomach." Lol!
Go Amazon! And this is why I like them. Far better to deal with Amazon than anyone on eBay. I wonder how many of these tablets will have little screen quirks like that. I hope it's extremely limited. I know ASUS doesn't make the screens themselves.
Either way, Amazon is hooking you up. I can't believe everything is pre-order right now. I think by the time I get my prime ICS will be available on it.

What are you gonna do about it? It's irritating me to see this little white dot all the time. What's weird is that it's not visible on black, and worst when it's white.

Gonna exchange it in-store in a few weeks if it doesn't somehow go away on its own. I can't simply ignore this. It's exactly the same as you are saying... very frustrating.
Mine came in today, just opened it and of course it has zero charge, ugh.
When plugged in, the screen turns on for a split second to show the charging icon, then turns off... but in that split second, I can already see one dead white pixel, and a blotch that looks simaler to the OP's... I'l have to wait until it fully charges so I can really examine it more, but not looking good... and I ordered mine from BestBuy, bah!
Just curious if anyone who was experiencing this issue has seen it improve. Didn't have a chance to check mine before I left for work this AM.

Just got my Prime from Best Buy. I haven't seen anyone post this but I noticed with the screen on or off, I can see miniature tiny dots all over the screen grouped in about 32 columns and 60 rows. Is this normal or do I have a defective screen? It's quite noticeable when I tilt it around with the screen off and a light on overhead as you can see the dots in the reflection.
Didn't notice that on mine for the few hours I had it man.

The only time I notice it is on a jet black screen and it's super minimal there 1 inch wide x .25 deep.. Very faint glow
Non-issue
Very minor here. Can only see it if in a dark room AND thinking to look for it on a uniform screen... even at that... minor.
Two minor spots on the bottom right corner. Ones a little bit bigger than the other.
Right side, and bottom middle screen bleed. It is minor but still annoys me at night before bed.
Judging on how the bleed is from tablet to tablet, I blame poor action on maintaining quality manufacturing and testing. Might just be because there is very high demand as the first quad core and ASUS is just trying to keep up.
I have a feeling that tablets sold in about a month from now will be of better build quality then those being sold today.
Good thing I decided to wait and just buy the TP with keyboard dock. I figure I'll keep watch on updates for the tablet and by the time I go to buy one, the tablet will be more stable.

Think again, the original transformer tablet still has horrible screen bleed and lose casing. These were issues when the TF101 first came out and have not been resolved to this day.
I had one on release (TF101), it had bad screen bleed and the back panel was falling off. I returned it, now just last month I decided to give them another go.. Guess what? Even worst screen bleed and still the same loose falling off back panel.. The issues were the same on the two TF101 units i purchased last month.. returned both for full refund.

Fast forward to 1 month ago, I bought two TF101's and compared them side by side... Both had bad screen bleed and loose case (same issues I was having at release). I returned both and decided to try the TFP.
They again failed to impress me with the quality of their devices because I have screen bleed again (on the TFP), its not as bad but stacked with the other issues its pretty bad for a device like this to launch with so many problems.
Let me know if you understand, if not I can make you a child story book in color explaining it in greater detail for you Haro...

Has anyone just considered that... ASUS doesn't make a good quality tablet? I've been considering Acer for a while. When I spend 500$ on something, like anyone, I want the damn thing to work. I would hate backlight bleed and crappy Wifi. Then again, 500$ for anything is a little cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. But hey, everyone likes a cheap tablet, eh?
Another thought: If the backlight bleeds that means it's hardware and ASUS can't do much to fix that. Anyone know how bad Samsung tablets are? I'm trying to think of some manufacturers who've been making tablets a little longer than ASUS.
Oh, and can anyone post a picture of their screen bleed? I'm very interested to see how bad it is. The quad core tegra 3... it beckons.

I figure I'll still wait for a while. Maybe after it gets the ICS update.
Quick question on the serial number sticker on the bottom of the transformer prime. If that sticker has been peeled off, does the warranty still apply? The serial number is viewable in the android settings, but I just wanted to be sure.
Its still valid. Plus there's probably somewhere inside prime shell that has it also.
There hasn't been any cases of warranty being denied for some cheap lil flimsy serial number sticker. It isn't even that sticky..lol
Only issue there was was of a place of business trying to deny someone a return based on serial number sticker missing. Serial number can easily be seen inside settings and there's other ways to determine serial number. So I wouldn't worry about it. Best thing would be to remove the sticker and put it in a safe place. I lost my sticker like in the first week or 2. Not worried at all about it
I assumed as much. I'm sending mine in for RMA due to multiple hot pixels (at least 3 very distinct spots, and 1 that is starting to look like a 4th and getting worse). The sticked peeled off almost a week after a bought it just from use. Definitely right about the stickers being flimsy as hell.
Check your warranty card as well. It should have your serial number in there.

You just look at them. If they are black they are normally dead. If they are stuck on one color then that is a stuck pixel. Sometimes they can be stuck on black too.
Thanks guess im lucky no dead pixels
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Mine weren't so much dead pixels, or stuck pixels for that matter. Mine looks more like something pressing into the screen from the other side and causing brightness. Other threads have called these hot pixels due to the fact that it's a clump of a few pixels together that appear "hotter" than the surrounding pixels.
I just ran a pixel app now switch to a black background and noticed a hotspot area .not a big deal to me to rma though. But luckily i still have 14 days to return to store for full refund . But i love it so much idc and thanks for the explanation

lol, exactly the same boat as you. I leave on the 25th and I have no idea the type of RMA process asus provide in Australia that I will receive my tablet back in time.
The serial number sticker on the Prime is partly detached.
I tried to use some glue, but it's not staying as it should.
What happen if I take it all away and save it in the original box?
Demanadarin can maybe ask "the insiders" at Asus.
Anybody managed to have it "fixed" as it should some how?
Sticker can be removed. Your device knows its serial number and that is what will be checked against in RMA, together with vip.asus.com registration.
I got rid of all my stickers. They are just ugly and are there for ease of use only.

Unfortunately there are many quality control issues with this model.
I too had the left side glass raised and unglued. Add that to the bad screen bleed, yellowish tint, lint inside the glass, dead pixels, no gps bad wifi, blah blah....return it after 2 days. Never had a product so badly build by asus (or any other co.)like this one.
With hope that infinity would have better QC... that, my friend will be wishful thinking...

Is the entire front assembly flexing out, or the glass itself is actually coming up from the plastic frame? Of course you may not be able to tell.
IMO I'd try again until I got a better one, because they are out there. Could try RMA'ing it for them to fix it (run a chance of it being broken and blamed on you or outright replaced with a newer unit, just in a longer amount of time than returning). But if you're willing to open the Prime after a while, then you could probably fix it yourself in a matter of minutes.

Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Yeah, I stand by my opinion then, I'd swap it out or return and buy another. I don't think it will get worse, but either it wasn't adhered to the plastic frame properly, or one of the little tabs that helps keep it closed was broken in the factory/during shipping. Not knowing which one means the longer you wait the more risky it becomes to claim it as a manufacturing defect.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD via my tethered HTC Vision
I would also swap out this Prime for another one.
There have been reports of people's screens suddenly cracking, and all kinds of while theories why. Personally I think that it has to so with the screens being warped by a broken clip, or a slightly bent Prime. If your screen sticks out enough to cause a noticeable flex it might be at risk for one of those sudden cracks. Exchange it while you are still within your return period.
Swap it out. It will either; get worse as time goes on, or you will be annoyed by it eventually.
Asus needs to clean up these QC issues, the more returns, the more fixes they will put into their manufacturing process.

Well, that's how most would do it lol not ASUS.
They'll keep the exact same production going on and just keep swapping them out until we just don't even want to try anymore or actually luck out with a device some random Chinese/Taiwanese worker was proud to finish up.
Look at anything they make and sell, and you'll find their crappy QC/QA is pretty universal and normal CS to be a joke.

I know there has been quite a few of you that have had issues with ASUS RMA Process. I on the other hand have had a very good experience ASUS RMA Process. I was having a black screen with color lines flashing on the screen. The Prime was total unresponsive. I called and was issued a RMA Number with instructions on what to do. They paid for the next day shipping to their repair facility. A week later (including the weekend) the prime was fixed and a few days later my unit was shipped out to me. I do have to say I am very impressed how fast they got my unit fixed. They replaced the screen. Since I received my Prime, I have only had one issues with some lines appearing on the left side of the screen. I restarted the Prime and no more lines.
I believe that if you keep calm and treat the rep with respect, they will work with you. I hope you all have the same experience I have had.
