This is the 1st time I have seen our heard of this, and I've owned my SGSII since May.
I get the same thing. Also wondering what it is?

It may mean some messages failed to send.
No, all the messages sent without failure. They replied back right away, so that's how I know they were sent.
Are they among your GTalk friends? if so it could be that they are ofline perhaps?

I think you're right. I noticed this on my GT-I9000M (Vibrant, Bell Canada) before I upgraded.
OP, have you logged into Google Talk on your phone lately? What happens if you log out of Google Talk?
yeap its the gtalk status...
I dont think its the gtalk status as some of my friends have the 'x' who are using iphones.
Also gtalk would show as a green dot. If they are offline in gtalk the green dot would just disappear

They might be using it on there computer and not via the phone.
I'm just guessing here but it would make sense.

Some of my contacts who have the 'x' mark do not use gmail. So I really think it has nothing to do with gtalk

While the ford sync is obnoxiously buggy, I haven't had any problem with bluetooth music with my note or my brother's SG3. I do find it annoying having to back out and re look at the entertainment menu to see the phone as an option.
No problems here either. I have a 2011 Limited Escape. I'm not sure what version of SYNC software is running because there's not a whole lot of navigation I can do in its menus/interfaces.
I'm not sure how I can get the text message functionality working but apart from that, everything works for me. What problems are you having?
Basically I can only play audio through Bluetooth for a little over 30 minutes at a time before the phone freezes and reboots. When I use cm9 it has never restarted.

Ford tech here, try a master reset (disconnect the battery for five minutes or pull the apim fuse), delete and repair phone.

No issues here... Stock ICS 2011 GT 5.0 and using Ford Sync-
Reverted back from JB too many issues...:good:
Thanks for the replies, I tried a master reset through the sync dashboard and it still froze up after a half hour of music through the phone. Would pulling the fuse be any different? Thanks again!

Tried a master reset and it still froze up and rebooted on me. Should I try installing the odexed version of the stock ICS Rom? I don't understand why my Bluetooth world work flawlessly on cm9 but not stock. Thanks again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, the master reset through SYNC is more like a soft reset, disconnecting the battery or pulling the fuse will restore her back to stock. keep in mind after the fuse pull, itll a take a couple of minutes before she responds. just curious what kind of sync/car?

Uninstall and then reinstall Facebook and it should go away. There have been some posts in other threads about it.

Facebook is bypassing the Play store for updates now, but it never actually updated for me either.
As a note, I got rid of the message by holding it down and going to App Info and then Clear Data. It hasn't started again since. Be careful not to disable it (the Download Manager), as it will cause a lot of problems on your device, especially at boot and when accessing the Google Play Store from your device!!!
I actually went in downloads then to other downloads then trashed it and problem solved

Had this for a couple days. Googled it and people said to stop downloads in app manager. Did that and it would go away for a bit and just come back.
Then last night I got a message saying a Facebook update was ready to be installed or something. So I installed it and now no more message.
Anyone that keeps getting that notification want to check what version of Facebook you have? My "new" version is 2.2.1-g2.
Just curious if there's really a difference.

I got the prompt and installed the update. It seems to have fixed my chronic fb connection issues. It's also a lot faster now. I read about this update a while back so I knew what it was and was looking forward to it.

Okay.... and what does this have to do with my post? You disabled Facebook itself, whereas I was noting that disabling the Download Manager can cause serious problems.

I just got my s4 a few days ago. I love it. Well the other day I was calling this girl I met for the very first time. I wanted everything to go perfect. She ended up not answering so I go to end the call and this thing pops up saying messaging app froze or something and it wouldn't let me push ok to close it. The phone was totally frozen. I couldn't hang up, push mute or anything. At this point her Voicemail is recording everything while I try to figure out how to hang up. I sort of awkwardly said "my phones frozen and idk what to do" lol. I then started to take off my case and finally got the battery out. Total freak accident. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from her..

I have to say I lol'd at this story.
This type of stuff used to happen with my Droid Charge before this phone. It was massively frustrating. It started dropping texts and I totally missed out on hanging out with a girl I had a thing for. Oh well, if it was meant to be then it will still happen.
This story is awesome. However. Who calls other humans now of days. Isn't that what flip phones were for? Cellular devices

hahaha good story.
also sigh at one of your first experiences with the GS4 is having force closes....yeah i've been getting A LOT of them lol
Force closes aren't funny, but the epitome of Evil! Sounds like a buzz kill for luv in this case.
The exact same thing happened to me twice yesterday.
I think it was the Facebook messenger app so I uninstalled it.
Haven't had anymore lockups or freezes since.

Hi everyone, I'm a tech for sprint, I've seen a lot of Samsung Note 3's come in to our store as well as our managers note 3 that have an issue syncing an Microsoft Exchange email accounts, we've tried re-doing the email account, as well as hard resetting the devices,, emails will sync for an hour tops. All suggestions are welcome!
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
Root the phone and flash a custom Rom. What email client are you using? touchdown wheels great.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
Well I would love to root everyone's phone. But working for sprint, we're not even allowed to work on rooted devices so that's definitely out of the question but I'll try using the touchdown app, and they are all using the stock email application on the device.

I forgot to mention I have seen it in S4 devices as well as the new S5

Is it all the same type of account? Might be a problem on the server end.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
The only issue I've seen with my Exchange account is an absurdly large battery drain...
If I set it on "push", my phone is constantly on. The stay awake time for the exchange service is more or less my uptime, minus my screen on time.
I just don't use push, and have no other issues...
Nope their all sorts of active sync accounts!

I know somebody with att s4 that upgraded to kk. He has same problem with exchange, very high battery drain. He tried changing settings and poll time but it still kills his battery. I'm wondering if the exchange program/service in Samsung kk has a bug that is s4/s5/n3. I wonder if there are email apps that don't rely on built in exchange app, that they have their own built in? Maybe this might save the battery? I don't know if k9 is good or not but I tried using it in the past. I'm sure there's others.
That's what I think, it all happened after the new wifi/hd voice update on the note 3. But it worked fine on the initial kk update. The one I'm still on and I have no problems lol.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I use exchange all the time. No sync issues and no battery drain with push. I would start asking if they know which version of exchange server is running to see if it is isolated to one version.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I use Touchdown on 3 devices and have used it for about 4 years with no battery problems caused by the application. Have you updated the PRL recently?
Sent via my Note 8
I don't suspect the prl, I think it's the exchange apk on the newest kk Samsung phones. It's happening on different carriers.
KK is installed on my Note 3 with exchange set 24/7 and no battery issues.
Via my Note 3
Touchdown seems to be the best fix, I've been suggesting it to everyone that has the issue.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
Don't think it's a Kit-Kat issue. I am using exchange with push settings, no issues at all.

Or one can use the EmailGoogle and Exchange2Google pair of apps, and attain everything they need with one-fourth the footprint, free of charge, syncs perfectly, and can actually see subfolders of your exchange inbox.
The app you're recommending is terrific, but quite the beast and most certainly not the best choice for all.
It is, as noted, an awesome app.
