Hello All,
As I'm a noob I can’t post in the main ROM thread for this ROM
I'm really tempted to install this as it looks dam good.
I'm in work so I can’t read all 55 pages.
It says on the ROM download page be on any Gingerbread stock ROM I’m currently on Cyanogenmod 7.2 will this be a problem?
Looking on the patches link I think the only one relivant to me is the Theme what does this do and is it a must? Also it says mount system before flash.. How do you do this?
I’ve read the last few pages and a few people say it takes a lot of internal memory and to remove the app details from the local fold is it really safe to do this are they just duplicates and not required and are there any I should leave alone?
Sorry if these are already answered on the ROM thread but I’m in wo9rk for the next 10 hours and my boss won’t let me read them all, he thinks I should be working!
Cheers
ACD
you can mount system by going to the "mounts and storage" option in cwm menu.. then selecting "mount /system"
and there is no problem with the internal memory here.. all you have to do is select "move and rebuild" option in a2sdgui after checking "dalvik cache in sd-ext"
have been using this ROM for long time, its perfect
Cheers for the speedy reply much appreciated.
I'm still very new to this.. Where is a2sdgui and dalvik cache in sd-ext
Will I be ok installing over the CM7.2 I am currently running?
What is the theme and is it required?
whatever ROM you may be, once you wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache (all of which wil be done before installing ROM) there wont be any problem...
but I always install a new ROM from fresh stock ROM which is advisable as the seniors in XDA tell
a2sdgui would appear after you have successfully installed the ROM and it appears as a Application in app drawer..
For theme you would find the patch in ICS by ahmed thread itself..
read all the instructions carefully and follow it step by step so that you could do it correctly..
Ok I think I understand.
This is what I think I need to do.
Download the ROM file and the theme file place them both on the SD card.
Boot into recovery
wipe data/factory reset, wipre battery stats, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache
Install the main ROM
Factory reset
Mount system
Install Theme
select "move and rebuild" option in a2sdgui after checking "dalvik cache in sd-ext"
Reboot
Is this right?
They only thing in not 100% is the checking "dalvik cache in sd-ext"
this would be the correct order :
Download the ROM file and the theme file place them both on the SD card.
Boot into recovery
Mount system
wipe data/factory reset, wipre battery stats, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache
Install the main ROM
wipe data/factory reset & wipe cache partition
Install Theme (reboot and enter the ROM, go to CWM manager, then select flash update and choose the downloaded theme patch, it wil reboot and you can see the new theme once it is rebooted)
select "move and rebuild" option in a2sdgui after checking "dalvik cache in sd-ext" (it will automatically reboot once you press move and rebuild)
Dont forget delete apps in data/local in your internal memory using root explorer.....

I thought you didn't need to delete them from local/app if you select "move and rebuild" option in a2sdgui after checking "dalvik cache in sd-ext" (it will automatically reboot once you press move and rebuild)

Polite Bump
Can someone please help me? I've installed this rom it looks good I just need to stop the low storage message every 2 mins.. How do I clear data/local I'm guessing its on the internal memory but using the built in file explorer (ES File explorer) I can only see the SD card? please help
I’ve sorted it.
If anyone else has this problem and finds this thread this is how I did it.
Open ES File explorer
Settings
Enable up to Root
Enable Root Explorer
Exit settings
Press the up icon and it will take you to the phone memory
I hope this helps someone
once the theme has been installed are you meant to go back and unmount the system

I tried searching and didn't find much help on my issue, if I missed it somewhere I apologize in advance. I am sorta new to all this but I'm starting to pick up on it. So here's my issue, hopefully someone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong or need to do to fix...
I downloaded the Bionix v 1.3.1. It's on the sdcard. I go into CWM Recovery, install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard, scroll to bionix, select, and click yes to confirm I want to install. I get this:
-- Installing: SDCARD:bionix-v-1.3.1.zip
Finding update package...
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/
mmcblk0p1)
(Device or resource busy)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:bionix-v-1.3.1.zip
Installation aborted
That's about where I'm lost? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
First, did you go into CWM Recovery and click on "Wipe data/factory reset"? When you are flashing a custom ROM, you would need to do that first, then you select install zip from sdcard (from the phone, not the external sd card), then wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, & finally Fix Permissions under the Advanced menu.
I believe you have rooted the phone with Samsung Galaxy S One Click Root, right? Well there are tutorials somewhere here on XDA that tells you how to flash. Hope this helps!
Also, when installing a custom ROM, you always have to put the zip file inside a folder called DCIM in your phone memory, not the microsd card, so you know where to install the custom roms.

Bionix 1.3.1 does not require you to wipe data, cache or dalvik.
It wipes when you flash it.
You don't put the ROM in DCIM,just the root of internal SD.
Had same problem, flash axura and stay on it for a couple days, then wipe battery stats and flash bionix and it should work

That's what I was thinking about Bionix . I have it on the root of the SD.
I'm going to try Nabeel's method with Axura for now.
Thanks for the help guys, I'll update this if I can get it to work.
BTT
Ok, well I tried flashing Axura instead from CWM, still get the exact same mount errors that I detailed in the first post. How the F do I get past the mount issue?!?! Ugh back to search and more searching I guess...
Ok finally ODIN'd back to 2.1 and that made everything so much smoother. I'm on bionix 1.3.1 now and wow its awesome

Can someone give me FULL instructions for flashing this coming from Miui AOSP, without Odin? From flashing the Rom to installing the google apps (dont know how to)... I havent flashed a WHILE. Thanks guys
im assuming you have rom manager installed for this and the rom you want installed (trigger redux) is at the root of your micro sd .... once you have those done follow the steps
1. in rom manager hit flash clockworkmod recovery then pick vibrantmtd then pick 3.x.x because we are on gingerbread
2. hit install rom from sd card and find the rom's zip folder and select it afterwords something else will pop up with 3 0ptions, put a check on all 3 (backup rom, wipe data and cache and dalvik cache) then hit install
BY SELECTING WIPE DATA AND CACHE YOUR APPS AND STUFF WILL BE GONE WHEN THE NEW ROM BOOTS UP SO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING YOU WANT IS BACKED UP
IF WIPE DATA AND CACHE IS NOT SELECTED THERE IS ONLY A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT YOU WON'T HAVE TO use ODIN!!
http://www.appbrain.com/app/app-backup-reinstall/tw.nicky.AppBackupReinstall
this link has an app that backs up all your apps to your sd card or you can use titanium back up to back up everything
I went from Muiu to redux and what I did is this: (might be overkill but its what I did and everything worked great)
1. Reboot into recovery
2. clear data/factor reset
3. mounts and storage > format system, format data, format cache
4. install zip from sd card > trigger redux
5. install zip from sd card > gapps
6. advanced > wipe dalvic cache, fix permissions
7. reboot
8. let rom boot up and sit for 10 mins and reboot
9. enjoy
That is the correct way ...Guy above ...

I have an Optimus V running IHO with s2e installed.
I am trying to use s2e to copy my dalvik cache to my sd-ext partition, but it's not working. I check the box and it says "reboot required", so I reboot, re-open s2e, and it still says "reboot required". I don't think it actually copied it to sd-ext.
How can I get it to copy my dalvik cache (~107MB)?
I havent heard of iho. But s2e is only for cm7 based roms...
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using xda premium
Android is right, you can only use with cm7...try using ungaze or darktremor
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
IHO is based of CM 7.1. s2e copied my apps and download cache to my sd-ext just fine, it's the dalvik cache it's having issues with.
I had the same problem yesterday, uninstall s2e than reinstall from market and all of those blocked selections will be available to check....giving your on a cm7 rom...if that doesn't work repartition the sdcard than reinstall the s2e.apk than select which options you want moved to sdext and it should work

Try wiping dalvik-cache, maybe the new one will be created on the sd-ext.

I currently have my apps and download cache on sd-ext. That worked (works) fine.
I just noticed that I have both /cache/dalvik-cache and /data/dalvik-cache. Could this be why I can't move it to sd-ext?

I tried uninstalling and re-installing s2e, didn't work. The weird thing is that my apps and my download cache moved to sd-ext just fine.
im having the same problem. just loaded bobzhome CM7.2.0 on my optimus v. it will move anything but the dalvik cache. whats the problem?
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!
i moved applications only to the SD ext partition. after this i wasnt able to load many of my apps, the most important of which was s2e. so i wasnt able to undo the move. fortunately this happened early on after i flashed the new rom. so i just called it a bad job and reflashed the rom.
im giving up on the idea of extending my ext partition. i just reformatted my SD card for basic SD storage. i will just have to live within my means. not being able to move the Dalvik cache should have been enough to ward me off, but after having it mess my apps up too im not going to try again until im really desperate.
Personally I tried ungaze a d s2e and darktremor was my favorite. You get the .zip for recovery and the UI in market, search for darktremor in it. You will have the option to move dalvik cache to sd ext. My ext is formated in ext4 by the way, might be your problem. I write here mainly to tell you that in my own experience moving dalvik to sd-ext on top of my apps to sd-ext made my rom laggy and slow. Apps only worked fine. Darktremor's the best. Try it.

Mount as Ext4
how r u partitioning the sd card? I use mini tool and have partitioned it fine. make sure you make a fat32 1st, 2nd ext2 & 3rd Linux swap (see attached image - Disc 2 as example). Thats the only way it works. Best of luck Also, once s2e is installed, open s2e > menu > settings > select option 'Mount as Ext4'. I will not recommend moving applications and private apps, just move dalvik cache and download cache.

I have been going round and round with this issue for a long time.... i used mini tool and other programs like darktremor and NONE worked,
I used mini tool like nth20 has stated only I created a fat32 partition,
I used the integrate SYS davik option in titanium backup!
I am useing a IHO rom that has link2sd and that worked for me...
good luck i have reflashed and tried so many roms and was finally able to get this to work.

I don't really want to move the dalvik-cache, to sd-ext, but when I try to install or update anything from the market, I get "package file invalid". I'm assuming that the error is that my cache is full.

Do you need a swap partition for dalvik cache to move correctly? I didn't add one, so that may be the issue. Unfortunately, I have too many apps, and I need them moved to sd-ext, because they don't fit in the internal memory.

"integrate SYS davik option", eh? That looks interesting, let me try it. That seemed to help. s2e still didn't move the cache, but I can correctly install/update from the market now.

Yup. Either your dalvik cache or download cache or both cannot find enough space in internal memory.

You need the swap partition as apps use it the space while installations. Saves you from the 'package file invalid' error.
Hope this helps.

I was able to use Titanium Backup's "Intergrate Sys Dalvik into ROM", and that fixed the problem (it moved ~20MB of stuff).

I can try to add one, and see if that helps, but I think if I can install apps now, then I don't need to actually move the dalvik cache.

Just 20MB. That's kinda low. Attached is a screenshot from my device. Check the size of the dalvik cache.

I have been using Link2sd for a while now and just wanted to know is there a way to get all my apps/games back after flashing a new rom and performing a full data wipe, cache wipe, after factory resetting...etc my phone.
There should be coz all the apps and there data, .dex files and lib files etc, are already there on the second partition. Isn't there anything I can do. I just dont want to reinstall everything again.
thanks

If the data is still on the second partition, you can try opening link2sd, press menu> more > relink application files. I think, though that cwm will wipe the second partition (or /sd.ext) if you perform a factory reset.
Are you sure the 2nd partition is wiped as well when I do a factory reset??
Coz I see that there is used space in the partition... But when I check /data/sdext2 thru ES File explorer ..its empty!

Is it possible to relink my applications now or not?
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
Q. I upgraded/changed my ROM and I can not see my linked apps, their files are on the 2nd partition but the system can not see the apps. How can I make them available, do I need to reinstall and relink them again?
No, if you didn't wipe data when updating ROM the only thing you need to do is to run "Recreate mount scripts" from "menu -> more" within Link2SD and do a normal (not quick) reboot.
If you wiped data, after executing "Recreate mount scripts" and rebooting, run "Relink all application files" from "menu -> more" and then reboot. All of your linked apps should be available again after reboot.
If you also wiped dalvik-cache, in addition to the above step run "Link dalvik-cache files".
Found this on the link2sd site... i did as its told here... but when i "relink all application files" it says no files found to relink ... :/ what do i do...
Best way is to backup using titanium backup. About the factory reset for me (rage kernel + CWM 5) it formats the second sd partition.

Yea I guess il have to buy the pro version...does link2sd move the application automaticlly when we backup or do we hav to link everything later...cz my internal memory dosent hav enough space to backup all the apps at the same time...
Hey guys,
So my Skwiftkey was acting up so I decided to clear cache in "manage apps". Instead of hitting "clear cache" I hit "clear data".
Now my keyboard doesn't show up anymore, I get that annoying message and also my phone isn't reading my SD card anymore :/
Appreciate any help
(I have CM10.1 installed)
Because SwiftKey go to settings > language & input > default
And set SwiftKey again (maybe activate, too.
For all the other prob try a reboot first.
If same problem go to recovery and wipe dalvik cache and cache one.

The problem seems to be that the phone outright doesn't read the SD card at all, doesn't even pick it up (however it can on ClockworkRecovery).
So I can't even backup my stuff to an SD card before I wipe cache or data and do another install.
Any ideas guys?

No, wiping cache and wiping dalvik cache won't delete the data or apps (only factory reset or format * would do)
So u can try this.
If u r able to access sd card in recovery and u have the zip from rom there, u can reflash Rom once (without wipe)
Just try this things and only if nothing works and no other idea comes, do a factory reset (not earlier)

And I can't wipe data because I need to backup my contacts and messages but I can't do that because my phone can't read my SD card and literally every backup app requires that I have an SD card inserted :/
