It says the sd card is not mounted

Sounds like the mount point issue. The mount points for the internal/external SD cards on your rom & the build of Siyah you're using differ.
Try Siyah V3.1rc6. That should solve the problem (yes Gokhan has fixed the issue which caused several people's phones to brick yesterday).

Why is my GS2 seeing my SD card as internal & vce versa

Before I ever started flashing kernels or ROMs my GS2 sees my internal card as the SD Micro card and my SD Card as the internal card?? Anyone else have this or know why this is??
Example, just now I went into CWM to update my SHOstock ROM and had to choose internal card for it to see the update even though I put the update on the SD Card..
same thing happened to me yesterday when i flashed my gs2 for the first time. i thought at first i accidentally loaded the zip onto my internal sd accidentally but i double checked and it was definitely on the external sd.
That's just the way it works on Entropy's kernel. I believe it even says so in his thread.

Yup. Someone didn't read the Changelog.
Cyanogenmod labels their partitions differently than Samsung-derived ROMs (Samsungs don't follow the current Android standard).
Right now the CWM binary in Daily Driver is pulled straight from CM7, so I haven't had a chance to recompile and label the external SD as external instead of internal

Hey guys. How do I make the external SD card the default location to where my data goes. I bought 9 MM And it required a full gig of data and it all went on my internal storage

No clue - turns out that what the OP was talking about was how CWM reports internal vs. external.

[q] sdcard internal and external problem in cwm recovery..how to change name in/ mnt?

Hiya guys I have an issue which is causing problems in my phone.
Basically i think it all started since i formatted my emmc by accident two months after having my phone.
My issue is in recovery my phone see`s the internal memory as the external and vice versa, i have just noticed in file explorer that to see the internal memory it goes through the .mnt/sdcard is this right?
Yes, that is normal.
Hi, the ./mnt/sdcard is right, your phone is equipped with ginger or ics???
Ics the problem is that in cwm recovery my internal and external are the showing the wrong way round. External shows phones memory and internal shows the sdcard memory ??

There is no problem, it is normal. Move on, forget about it.
OK
One more thing before I make another thread and fill up this useful section. What causes the ums lunfile fault when trying to mount the SD card in cwm? I also encounter this fault in ics?
Sorry and thanks for the help

SD-Card shows empty in Android

Hey folks,
My SD Card shows empty once the phone is booted. Can't create folders either. Same with different cards.
SD card can be read in recovery mode...
Is there a security feature (never activated/installed anything) which could cause this?
I'm on Pro x-rom 2.3
(did backup to older Version which used to work witht he cards)
Kernel 2.6.32.9-perf
I'm afraid that it's a phone issue. Sometimes it says error when trying to read files in recovery too. Happens with multiple SDcards too.
Try using an application called "Rescan Media" available on playstore for free. Could be a problem with the media scanner of your rom.

External SD card permission issue

Weird enough suddenly I found all my external SDCard files have all permissions like:
---rwxr-x
Why !?? This happens to every file I copy onto it.
I needed them like:
rwxrwxr-x
so far, the only rough and long way I found is through Aromafilemanager and PhilzTouch recovery.
Yet I have to change the permissions one file at a time.
Can anybody help?
Sounds like a problem unique to you, I've never heard of it.
Flash the official stock rom, format your sd card in your pc using the industry formatting tool and test.
If the problem disappears then it was probably some combination of your individual setup.
Yep. Also ensure you haven't got any scripts running at startup. Sd permissions are set on boot and cannot be changed afterwards

Thank you, I'll surely restart from the beginning and report back

Which script could do that?

Any mods that mount folders or swap storage.
Otherwise, something built into the rom.

@boomboomer
which filesystem do i have to use in formatting extsdcard 8gb via pc? exFAT / FAT32 / EXT4 / NTFS ?
moreover, in this post and following on dev rom thread, it seems it's a normal behaviour... am i missing sth?
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4
Fat32 is the normal filesytem.
If it's common to your rom then your chef is the best one to approach, he may have set a script or mod.

I read through about 7 pages of sd card issues on the s3 and thought i cant read anymore, so i thought i would just ask. I've just bought an s3 and i got my 64gb sd card from my old phone to my new one. Problem is i have data from other games in the SD and titanium back up files in the externel sd card. Seems the S3 has its own built in SD card and only reads from that. I copied my TB files from externel to the internel. Now the games still require Extra files although they are in the externel SD. So how in the world do i get it to read my Externel sd instead of my internel? I thought of copying the files but i have 16 gb internel, 64 externel so its not gonna work considering i have 39 gb left in my 64 gb one,

Sd card problem

Hello everyone
Today i (re-) installed pacman rom and everything works but i suddently recived a notification with
"Sd card unexpected removed"
I thinked thats an error and formated sdcard with recovery
After 1 hour same error and i thinked thats a problem with rom so i installed stock sammy rom
Everything works good , sdcard was formated with cwm again but after 1 hour i looked with root explorer on exsdcard partition and it was empty and unformatted
Again i formated it with recovery and again it unmounts itself and delete all of its content
I tried with some pc programs but same result
Any advices?

I'm really just guessing here but have you tried taking your sdcard out and cleaning it? Is the card fitting correctly? Maybe your card is corrupted (this happened to me once and kept draining my battery to nought in a matter of an hour), it may be worth trying or buying a new sdcard.
Just a thought, I hope this helps.
Found the problem
It was the screw near the sd card slot
Maybe a shock was a problem but im using silicium case(shock proof)
Anyway i still have a warranty for card (3years left out of 4 )
It wasnt cheap. it is class 10
