Powermat & Xpera S - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Is there any sort of way I can use any of the Xperia S hardware parts instead of the stupid powermat case thing you get with it?
So it could do it wirelessly without putting the powermat case on?

No. There is nothing built in to Charge wireless.

Powermat

After having a Powermat for my iPhone, then one for my HTC HD2, I was disappointed to see I couldn't find one for my Amaze. When I took the back off, I saw the rear case is more than just a plastic cover.
Anyone else ever use one before? I loved mine. I can't wait to see if they make one for this phone.
Well you said it yourself, the back of the htc amaze is more than just a back, it has an antenna system of some sort built into it. I don't know if the makers of power mat could engineer a back that has the antennas AND the power mat thing. Maybe one day, you never know!
What about the Duracell power mat? Aren't those universal to every device? Like you put some sticker on the battery and it works lol

I suspect they won't make one for the amaze, considering its discontinued. I do know how I can make one though. Powermat makes a generic pack, one you can plug into your micro USB and throw the pack on the mat. Then I saw a case for the amaze, with an extra battery inside, that goes over the phone and plugs into the micro USB. I could modify this case, remove the battery, and replace it with the powermat pack, I might be on to something.
This is why my license plate on my car says HACKR....

Phone isnt discontinued there was just an article on Engadget that a bunch of amaze 4gs were held at customs because of that patent thing. Why would tmo still be importing a discontinued phone?

Xperia S charging case

Hi all! Kinda new here.
I'm looking for a battery bank for my Xperia S that serves as a charger and a casing like the iphone. 4 and other phone that has it. Does anyone has a clue where to find it?

Try to visualize what you are asking for there. Think about the charging port location, the charging port door.
Then the answer will come to you.
BTW if someone has designed this, surely it must stick out like a spare pr*ck ?
Hes talking about a normal case with a back up battery on it. Its plugs in to the charging port. You charge the case. Once fully charged you put it on to your phone and you press the button once your battery is low. It then charges the phone from the stored current.
Theres many for iphones and blackberrys.
@op unfortunately there is none for any android device. The only type is like a micro usb adaptor you connect when you required. Theyre available on amazon for about 5 bucks. Just search for portable micro usb battery charger

I know what he's talking about, when it's from top to bottom, like the iPhone thats fine, but for it to work with the xperiaS it's going to have to connect from the side. It also has a USB port door, should this be removed each time? To have a USB connector on the side is going to make the whole thing very wide..
Yeah for that kind of case thing I agree its not practical. But even those portable chargers I spoke about. Theyre not that big they more practical but I dont **** charging my phone with anything but the original charger. Or any electronic for that matter

Docking station, wireless charging, NFC, car dock, cases, kickistands!

I have more than a few questions, hopefully some of you can shine some light:
DOCKING STATION
Is there gonna be a docking station like this one , but that is USB3.0 instead of just regular micro USB?
WIRELESS CHARGING
I understand the convenience of wireless charging. Is it slower than USB 3.0 charging?
Does using a USB 2.0 micro USB cable to charge the Note 3 affect in any way? is it slower?
Is it posible to implement wireless charging using the Spigen Neo Hybrid case? I heard the QI add on makes the original back cover not fit properly. Is that true?
NFC
Since the NFC chip is built onto the battery, do extended batteries like the upcoming 10,000mah by zerolemon have the NFC chip as well?Or will I be losing NFC functionality by having a third party battery?
Will Spigen Neo Hybrid case affect NFC?
CAR DOCK/KICKSTAND
I have had HTC EVO line phones since the first one until HTC EVO 4g LTE. This is my first Samsung. Is there an equivalent to the HTC car dock app for samsung (once again, USB 3.0 enabled)?
Is there gonna be an official car dock holder for Samsung, like HTC usually makes?
I want a built in kickstand, but I didnt want to limit my case options based on just that. I was intending to buy something like this, but they are never in stock. Must be wallet size. Anyone know of something similar?
Thank you very much for your time.
Don't really mean to bump, but I think answers to these questions would be a good source of information for everyone
There's an official USB 3.0 dock released but not the multimedia version u linked.
I have modified my Note3 to charge with the S3 wireless card and charging times don't seem to differ that much but I charge my device overnight as this beast never runs out of battery. Also the mod I done doesn't bulk ure cover out.
It doesn't charge wireless for me with my Spigen Slim Armour
If you use a third party battery that has NO NFC then you loose it
In terms of docks as the phone is only just out I'm sure there will be loads of USB 3.0 docks released soon enough for in car use

Where? I can't find it on Samsung's website.
I see unofficial ones on eBay that have microUSB 3.0 connectors the plug into the phone but only microUSB 2.0 on the back of the dock, so it's not only unofficial but also not USB 3.0.

Regarding wireless charging...you are the first person to claim that they can keep on using the Note 3 without increase in bulk, and therefore still fit regular cases, albeit wireless charging will only function with the case off. How exactly did you accomplish this?
Regarding NFC, my question was really whether the third party batteries are going to have NFC or not. I did assume not having a battery with NFC would disable NFC.
Thanks for pointing out that USB 3.0 dock! I am still hoping they will release a multimedia one, as my understanding so far is that the current smart media dock does not allow for simultaneous MHL and USB usage.
And what about USB 2.0 vs 3.0 charging? what is your take on that?

I stripped the wireless card of the advertising leaving just the coil and one thin piece of sticky paper so no padding etc therefore its ultra thin.
I personally would only use official battery's so wouldn't know but I assume there will be NFC enabled third party ones.
As for USB 3.0 it certainly charges faster especially when plugged in to my PC

So you are saying the phone charges faster plugged in to a PC's USB 3.0 port than to the included Samsung USB AC adapter?
Thanks about the info on the batteries, I was just curious about the 10000mah one

No what I meant was its faster charging and transferring data with the 3.0 on PC than standard micro USB

well that docking station you posted does work with the note 3, see here if interested:

Yes the mAh battery from ZL will have NFC.
NFC still work?
Hi! Have you tried NFC with the coil? I know the coil works fine, keeps the slim profile vs. the OEM back charging cover, etc, but wondering if it blocks the NFC since it covers the battery. The add-on coil seems like the obvious and cheaper choice but I want the NFC to work still as I do use NFC tags. Thank you for the info and any help you can offer!

[Q] Off Brand DocK Chargers

I've been wanting to buy a dock for my new xperia z2, but i'm a little concerned that off brand dock chargers may damage my phone battery or the magnetic terminals of the phone.
Is there any truth to this?
If you don't use the correct charging values, can it corrupt your battery?

I've been an Xperia owner for years and have always used the cheapest docks I could find on ebay. I've never had any issues with battery life on my phones (have had Xperia Z, Z2, Z3, then back to Z2). Just make sure you give your phone a good overnight charge on a wall charger every couple of months or so and you'll be fine.

I use chepest dock from ebay and sometimes when I put phone on dock he connect-disconnect-connect-dis.... and I muve little phone and all is good no problems with charging.
I have the VicTsing Dock.
It's not expensive compared to the Sony branded one and the quality is really good.
Also there is a pass-trough USB port on the back that allow you to sync data or even connect any USB device.

Wireless charging?

Any chance that the Xperia z4 tablet will have wireless charging? Did any of the previous Xperia devices ever have this feature?
To my knowledge, the only Xperia device so far that has had wireless charging has been the Z3v Verizon variant in the US. The z2 and z3 series all have magnetic charging. Not sure about the ones before that. As far as the Z4 Tablet goes, I have seen no mention of wireless charging or magnetic charging, and the images don't show a place for a magnetic charger, so I'm not sure.

Wireless Charging is essentially the transmission of an electrical current from a power source to a receiving device without the use of a physical connection. The electrical current is then used to charge or re-charge the battery of the receiving device. In this circumstance the receiving device can be anything from a smartphone or wearable, to a large industrial forklift.
I dont think so that will happen... Sony will not add :/
I feel as if Sony would have mentioned or advertised it. Plus, that's quite a large pad.
yes, sure sony will add this feature
Er.. how exactly? I see no contacts where a dock connector could charge it semi-wireless and no spec sheet says anything about it having hardware for any true wireless charging in it.
I suspect Sony thought because the USB port does not need a flap like the previous models there is not as much need for a charging dock. For myself they are likely right. There is for me no huge difference convenience wise between putting the unit into a dock or plugging in a cable (assuming the cable is already there anyway).
