Colleagues
Recently I purchased 3 Goophones 4GS (iPhone Clones) very nice phones and at a premium price. One for my wife, one for my dear old mum and one for myself.
My question is my wife's works fine, she is on the Optus network, my mother and myself are on Vodafone. but mine works fine but my mothers drops in and out like a bad relative
I tried swapping sim cards from mine to her's ,her phone became more stable but still not as good as mine. both sims cards I doctored to make them into micro sims, could that be the problem or is it a problem with the phone?
How do I check?
Thanks

Hi, everyone
I am running v10b, 2.2 froyo.
Just yesterday my 2 GSM sims (from the same service provider) "BSNL" (runs at 800mhz) became corrupt after inserting them on my optimus one, and they ran perfectly all these days.... i don't know what happened... it all happened when i reinserted those sims... i tried them on other phones, and i confirmed that my sim cards toast forever, in optimus its says "no service", my other nokia phone doesn't even show the welcome screen, just the backlight and nothing on screen...
strangely enough sims from other service providers like vodafone, docomo doesn't seem to get corrupted, is it because they run at other frequencies 1800,1900...
does this mean that my optimus one is malfunctioning and corrupting my sims that work on 800mhz...
i don't know if its frequency related issue, but i can't seem to get any other possibility of damage other than that... i can't believe it damaged 2 sims.... if it was just one, i could have concluded that it was due to wear an tear of that sim, but since it damaged my second sim.... thats what raised suspicion...
any ideas
That's strange! I guess it would be better if you take it to the LG service center since sim card corruption is not something really common. I have used Airtel and BSNL on my O1 and I frequently change between MTNL and Vodafone.
OT - maybe different operators finds way, how to get few customers!
not OT - You would contact operator first, and let him try some "test" sim, if it wasn't just couple incidents in "one shot".
Same thing happend to me. My two bsnl sims got damaged after inserting them in LG Optimus One. Scared of trying the third one! Though Airtel sim is working fine.
Did you try any more bsnl sims?

couple of days later, when i swapped it to airtel,it showed nothing.
n when i again inserted back in ma monte, the sim was gone.
after getting a duplicate one, again same thing happened.
but docomo working all wel and good,no matter how many times i remove it.
i think its d fault of phone.
cant b co incidence with so many people so many times.
UPDATE
Bsnl gave me a new 128kb sim (bsnl 3g) for Rs. 59 and it's working properly. The two sims that got damaged were (old light blue colored) Rs. 20 sims. I too think there is some problem with the phone as it should support all the sims, not just the latest ones.
Hope this helps someone.
i have totally weird yet kinda same problem. when i first flashed a new rom everything worked fine except calling. whenever i used to call someone call wouldn't go and when i try to end it it gets struck in "hanging up" mode.tried different roms still da same problem ! was using tata docomo . so changed it to airtel and it was working fine!!

Iam using airtel sim I bought 5 years ag, working without any problems..
Yes I agree. Only bsnl old sims have problem. I tested airtel, idea and docomo. All the three worked fine.

Some time ago I posted on this forum re no end of data 3G dropouts on my Galaxy SII meaning I was experincing no end od 3G data drop outs. Well anyhow today I decided to do some experimentation and to swap SIMS.
I have two mobiles, a Galaxy SII and also a Samsung Omnia 7 WP7 Mango. I decided to swap SIMS, put the GSII SIM in the Omnia 7 and the vice versa.
I switched both phones back ON as usual, inserted the SIM PIN code and bith phones booted up without any hassles.
Now here is the interesting thing. I ran both the phones for about 40mins, thinking and assuming if the SIM was faulty from the GSII the Omnia 7 would start to play up, but unfortunately both phones ran without any hickups and better still the GSII and the Omnia 7 did not face any data 3G internet dropouts, the GSII ran well and not a single data dropout and the same went for the Omnia 7, but my main focus here was more on the GSII.
But as soon as I put the SIMS back into their original phones the trouble for the GSII started again a bit later on.
So here the big Q whats the fault here, the phone or the SIM.
My guess is that the sim that is originally in your GS2 is faulty. Perhaps the sim is worn where the sim is touching?
You ruled out a phone issue when you put another sim in your GS2 and it was running fine.
Just my opinion anyway.
Thats correct when I inserted the SIM from the Omnia 7 (my other phone) into the GSII and left it running and on the data/internet for 40mins or so I did not get one droput what so ever and the same goes for the SIM from the GSII in my Omnia 7, so i.e a sim swap.
But the funny thing is non of the data on both phones dropped out.
Now assume if the SIM is the GSII is faulty, why didnt it cut out or I loose data connection when it was in the Omnia 7, this is what I cant figure out.
Also can a faulty SIM cause this problem.
I'm assuming that the Omnia7 has better contact points on the sim from your GS2. And that's how it's not faulting.
Are you only losing DATA and still retaining all phone signal?
If that is the case then it may not be a sim issue but a carrier issue based on which baseband version you're running on your GS2?
It could be the pins of the Omnia 7 are slightly more raised than that of the GSII, probably the GSII ones a slightly more flat so the contact of the SIM and pin is just touching or skimming the surface or yet again the SIM is just faulty.
Now the other funny thing here is, say for eg if I am on the phone i.e a call and the data all of a sudden drops out, than my call will drop out as well. But this problem is more data than call.
How do find out what baseband I am using and can the carrier fix this issue.
Hi all,
First off, thanks for your help in advance, I find it great that communities like this are content with a simple thumbs up and don't require the contents of my wallet like the bastards at Apple. My problem is probably quite simple, but it's beyond me, so I'd appreciate your help.
Basically, I bought a Galaxy S Plus in India some years back and it's been my primary phone ever since. It worked fine with any SIM I put into it in India and made texts and calls as usual. Here's the issue. About a week ago I moved to the UK and my wife gave me her LycaMobile SIM to use with the phone. I put it in, but my phone wouldn't make any texts or calls, the phone showed some bars for signal for a few seconds but they quickly disappeared. I know the SIM works, because we tested it in her Nexus 4 and my friends Galaxy S2, leading me to believe the phone is at fault.
I tried several other SIMS in the phone, both UK and India based, but still no luck. My guess is that it has something to do with baseband, but as I said, I'm really not sure.
Thanks again for any help.

I think thats not the problem, google says that india and the united kingdom have the same gsm-bands (900/1800).
Oddly enough, my sim tray will only work with only one sim. And unfortunately, it is a broadband sim. Where I can't text and call. When it comes to regular sims, it would do say 'no SIM card.' Does anybody know what to do? Thanks
I am having the same kind of issue as well. I have a att i717 on stock 4.1.2 no root and sim carrier unlocked. Actually I have 2 EXACTLY the same, the one I've been using for 6 months with a cricket sim card have had no issues. With this 2nd i717 that I got yesterday, its now sim unlocked not rooted on 4.1.2, just like mine, my cricket sim works in it just fine but my sons metro pcs sim doesn't. My goal is for my son to have the exact same phone as me but with his metro pcs sim. Any help please? My son goes back to his moms tomorrow night and was really hoping he can go back with his big o phone working with his metro pcs sim.
Now I'm soo broke I can't even pay attention!
[SOLVED]
Everyone, after months of waiting and keeping it in stock condition, my sim is now working. After playing with sim tray, I solved it. Just keep the metal frames up, all the metal frames.
Hi all, I just bought a new Samsung S9 plus 256gb US version unlocked from Samsung's website and I have TMobiles unlimited one plan. The Sim card I got was in my old ZTE Blade V8 Pro unlocked (you can probably guess why I bought a new phone). After putting the SIM card in the new phone for about a few hours it was a night and day difference where places I tested my LTE speed was 30mbs verses 6-8 on the old phone and the internet loaded quicker.
However, later in the day I started getting no connection or slow speeds and sometimes got edge+ connections in places where even my crappy V8 Pro would get connections. I called TMobile and gave them my phone's emei number and the Sim number that I used. At first it worked better but I still get less bars of reception and there are times when it takes a while for a LTE connection when there is no wifi. I even get LTE+ and it will still load some things like twitch streaming slow.
Someone suggested flashing TMobile firmware to the phone to try help connecting to their network like their branded phone's, but I have no idea what file to download for TMobile firmware for Odin to flash. Also, would it help to get updates from TMobile faster? People who have a TMobile sold S9+ are getting the new delayed update but my unlocked phone isn't. Thanks for your time.
I can say with a great deal of confidence that flipping firmware will not resolve this problem. It sounds like a hardware issue to me.
