Hey guys. Twice now (last night and just now) iv'e tried booting into recovery (CWM 5.0.2.3) and it boots to the stock android recovery.
Bootloader is unlocked and i haven't tried flashing any SBF or any sort of .zip files, and i haven't installed any OTA's.
Booting to fastboot, flashing CWM and rebooting into recovery seems to solve it.
My question is why is it reverting to the stock recovery without any input by me?

Unlocked and Rooted. Having issues getting CWM to stick.
Thought it was odd done this a couple of times. First time I resoted stock recovery and it reverted. Well ok reflash with fastboot because it restored the recovery partition.
Was going to modify the framework.apk and went to
Flashed recovery by:
moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-blue-photon1.3.img
moto-fastboot reboot.
Upon reboot accessed CWM recovery and did a backup.
Tried to push framework.apk and screwed it up somewhere so it bootlooped.
Battery pull select android recovery.... and back to stock recovery.
Had to reflash with fastboot and restore backup.
Any ideas why the recovery partition is reverting back to stock??
EDIT:
Thanks to mrinehart93 for pointing this out.
The system runs /system/etc/install-recovery.sh on boot with the stock rom. On boot it checks the recovery partition for some update and with CWM installed decides to reflash the stock recovery over it. Rename or delete the file and the CWM should stick.

Hello,
I was trying to edited the services.jar that was meant to run V6 Supercharger on ICS 4.0.4 rooted.
I believed I did something wrong and cause the phone now stuck in a boot loop...
I have flashtool installed on PC and able to get the phone in fastboot mode.
I am hoping someone from this forum could help me fix the bootloop issue.
I don't mind to have it recover back to the factory state, but at least I could use the phone again.
Thank you for your time.
If you can still enter in CWM recovery, make flashable zip with original files you replaced and flash it.
If you don't have CWM, flash your phone with flashtool in flashmode.
I tried installing the new MIUI on bootmanager and booted into it. Once booted into it the wifi didnt work which I read was because I didnt flash the kernal. I tried opening boot manager to go back to phone rom but it will not flash boot.img. I panicked and booted to recovery flashing MIUI with EXT4 recovery. After rebooting it still goes into the sd card rom. I then fastbooted into recovery and flashed the phone rom update.zip from the bootmanager folder. This still will not let me boot to the phone. Any help to get me back to the phone rom or install the kernal for MIUI without being able to get into boot manager or a fix for boot manager for MIUI would be greatly appreciated. Currently my phone is working but not how I wish it to.

Im on Juopunut HBoot 1.5050 (last evo i had was downgraded to 1.4) do I still need to fastboot flash boot boot.img? or boot into recovery from fastboot? Will be trying a couple of things in a minute after class gets out.
Pushing the boot.img fixed it.
So hey guys. Im new to all these things but read a lot about it before doing something.
So here's what i did and where it went wrong:
- I unlocked and rooted my phone with the All-in-one-tool from Hasoon2000 (nice tool Hasoon!)
- After that i made a recovery with CWM, which i copied to my PC as a backup.
- Then i wanted to flash the bindroid ROM from DutchDanny and in here it propably went wrong. What i did was the following:
To install the ROM i needed TWRP, so i flashed it and made a recovery in there.
Then i flashed a boot.img from the download section of the bindroid ROM, without wiping cache
So the ROM installed fine, but my IMEI was lost, so i used the recovery from TWRP and it gave me my IMEI back.
But in the thread of the ROM it says it sometimes need a retry to install so i decided to flash the boot.img again (without wiping cache ).
Still no IMEI in the ROM and recovered through the TWRP. But this time i did not get my IMEI back..
So now i have still the CWM recovery, a .img file. Do i have to flash this again with flash boot.img to gain my IMEI back?
Any help would be appreciated!
(sorry mods if its supposed to be in the thread of the custom ROM, but since thats in the develloppers section, I cant post in there)
solved
Hmm somehow i managed to recover it.. I just tried to flash some recovery files with the toolkit. Now its working again.
SOLVED
Hi friends, my Xperia ray stuck at boot loop, which was stock ICS non rooted devices,
For that flashed gb firmware using flashtool, after that its worked well,
then I began root,
-bootloader unlocked - Success
-Rooting for firmware(4.0.2.A.0.62) - Failed, (with this method point No-2a,
-Then, flashed a ICS kernel on GB firmware(4.0.2.A.0.62) - Successkernel taken From this thread
-After flashing kernel flashed a ROM via CWM - Success Flashed ROM thread
-then pressed power button to boot the devise, its showing old GB Boot logo, and stuck at boot loop
My question is..
-For flashing kernel and ROM is required Root on stock?, but i have unlocked bootloader only, due to failed to root
-then how to root device on GB firmware
-or please explain in your way
Did you do the correct wipes before installing the Rom???

Here is what to do -
1. Make sure that you are on an ICS Kernel. If not, use the command fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot boot.img
2. Copy ROM to SD Card.
3. Boot into CWM and select "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition". Then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache and battery stats.
4. MOST IMPORTANT - Go to mounts and storage and select "Format /system".
5. Choose "Install Zip from sd card."
6. Install the Rom and enjoy a blazing fast Xperia

The thread you referenced contains both a GB kernel and an ICS kernel. Make sure you get the right one. It looks to me like you flashed the GB kernel and you get a boot loop because the ICS ROM and the GB kernel are incompatible. Here is a list of kernels: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36177584&postcount=2
Make sure that you flash the kernel with fastboot and then flash the ROM, wipe cache and dalvik cache and then reboot.
Thank you friends
Now its working fine
