Hi XDA forumers,
I just made a switch to xperia s and it's been great until yesterday.
I'm running stock and not rooted
Firmware 6.0.A.3.73
So the issues i have are:
- My xperia s can't connect to my pc even afyer i reinstalled the pc companion and also the driver from the device manager in pc.
- my xperia s won't connect to my home wifi even though it's broadcasting just fine to my pc and my wife's iphone. (it was connected just fine until yesterday). I tried to use the wifi fixer from the play store but no luck.
Anybody have any tips to troubleshoot these issues?
My apologies if some of these issues has been discussed before (i looked around in the forum but no luck).
Thank you

Hi,
There is already a thread for this discussion anyways try out this one:
Switch on the wifi on ur mobile and then restart ur wifi router see if it recognizes the router. This method works for me atleast dunno the root cause but it works try it out and let us know.
Regarding pc connection try to disable the scanners and cameras wizard and then pc companion works like charm....
Hi Shoz_on4u
I'm re configuring the wifi now and for the pc companion still no luck. I even tried it in different pc but still the same issue. Do you have the link threads for this issue?
Thanks again for your help and input

Just to make sure, did you reboot the phone before trying to connect to the PC?
If not try that.

Do you get any sort of error messages when you connect to PC?
How about the drivers? Are they properly detected under the "Device Manager" or do you see an yellow exclamation in the phone connection?
Hi Pezo,
I did reboot the phone before connecting to pc and still didn't want to connect.
Hi Livesquare,
I do have that driver issue (exclamation point shown) and i tried to update the driver from the device manager but it failed all the time.
Everytime i connect to the pc, it shown that my driver installation keep on failing.
I tried connecting it to different pc but have the same problem.
Any tips for me on how to solve this probler or any troubleshoot method that works for you?
Thank you again for your inputs.

usb debugging is checked?
Envoyé depuis mon LT26i avec Tapatalk
Hi Niaboc79,
Usb debugging checked on but still failed to connect.
I tried connecting with or without the usb debugging mode but still not working somehow.
When i connected the phone with the usb debugging on, the device manager were able to read it but the mtp connection still showing failed driver installation.
I'm sure the cable is working fine because if i checked to install pc companion on the phone, there is a drive shows up which can autorun the pc companion on my pc.
Any thoughts?
Thank you

So far still no luck for me, i'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem.
Thank you for the suggestion.

I faced similar issue with my Arc.
Search in the internet for removing hidden devices (for windows), then follow those instructions to remove it. Then try using different USB connection (try avoiding any USB hubs) and see if it fixes your problem.

Hi Angel 621,
I got my wifi working through this method that shoz_on4u suggested but i had to reset my configuration setting through the privacy setting in xperia s. Make sure you don't have any auto turn-off feature for the wifi. I still unable to connect to my pc at the time being.
Hi LiveSquare,
Thank you for the tip, i'll try this and let you know how this goes.

I am having the same problem. It would connect perfectly to the computer at home but in my office computer it won't connect. I tried Un-installing and re-installing the PC companion but no help.
This MTP only mode sucks big time. The MASS Storage mode was the best.
Having the same problem now trying to update the phone.
Hi Ryengod,
How can you update your phone when the pcc companion or seus can't recognize your phone? Are you going to use flashtool to update it?
I tried to repair my phone but it failed since it won't be recognized on the pc.
Let us know if you found a way to figure it out?

Your help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Anybody???? This function could really help me as well...
you're looking for reverse tethering i think.
for some reason it seems to be much harder than it should be on android.
you might want to try this :

hope this helps.
I've tried the media center to get working, but it just simply doesn't. My notebook and my x10 are connected to the same wireless network, but the PC just won't detect the x10.
How exactly does the media server works?? I've already looked and there isn't any tutorials, videos o threads asking this.
Any help will be useful
Btw:
Since I dont use it, is it safe to remove? Or removing it will it mess up some Wolfs tweaks?
Try going under network settings on your computer and disable the firewall

I have a Q. I can't get it working either. Does my comp need to be connected to my router via Wi-Fi also to get it to work?

Yes. You can do USB or WiFi tethering. If your phone is connected to WiFi,it will create a hot point,if not it provides WiFi to your laptop using mobile networks. Its in settings.

You can do it by using Reverse Tethering. It's available on google play store. Works on my Galaxy S2 just fine. You need to root for it though.

You will have to follow the rooting steps to root your phone. When you are finished rooting your phone you can install the app.
Here are 2 guides to rooting your phone:
Easy way to root (without PC)
Even more complete but long way to root your phone
NOTE: If you root your phone your warranty is VOIDED! I take no responsibility to whatever happens to your phone! Proceed at your own risk!
URL 1 works in most cases, but if you like reading then URL 2 is also good! Both URLs are reliable!

Hi everyone.
I got this problem with my Galaxy: when connecting with usb cable to my pc, the phone isn't recognized at first try. Sometimes it starts the explorer on pc but I can see no files in the phone memory nor in sd memory. After unplugging and plugging back again 3 or 4 times it eventually works properly.
Can you help me?

Already tried it. I've also tried all the ports on pc..they all get the same problem. May it be because of the lock pattern?

Clean install of USB drivers .

I'm having trouble connecting to my Windows 8 laptop. I have reinstalled USB drivers and whatnot, but usually my phone is not recognised at all. However, if I use SGS3 Easy UMS app from Play Store to toggle MTP off and on while connected to USB I get the PC to recognise my device after a short while. It's so strange.
Usually I just use Samba server to transfer stuff because getting a USB connection is so complicated. USB (MTP) works normally with my Windows 7 PC at my workplace, though.

I just updated my laptop to Windows 10 and lost the ability to have a wireless connection with the stock Z3v and my laptop. I can still connect with the USB cable, but It won't let me setup the wireless/wifi connection. I tried downloading Sony PC Companion but that couldn't find the Z3v. Any ideas?

What kind of laptop do you have? The basic way to get WiFi into your device is just to enable hotspot from your phone.

No, what he's saying is the Z3v has the ability to "Pair" with a windows machine over WiFi so that you can transfer data without the need to have a data cable. Windows 10 breaks that feature. I have the same issue.

Same issue. Spent the entire week on this issue. Was wondering if anyone had the same issue until i hit this thread.
Maybe Sony would make an update for the PC companion or (As my z3 dual with 5.0.2 shows no windows 10 option in the pair menu. MAybe with 5.1.1, windows 10 option would appear).
Well maybe we just have to wait.

I rebooted/restarted both the pc and Z3v after and nothing's changed. What else should I be doing?
I also tried this but still no connectivity. Sony Z3c (6.0.1) to PC Win 10. That will teach me to install a new pc at the same time as a system upgrade on my phone
If my fix does not work for you then there is no hope as the new version of pc software has the wireless file transfer functionality removed.
