I have been messing about with the Android SDK and come up with this, an Xperia SmartTag maker.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vexedbadger.smarttagmaker
I put it on the Play market literally 10 minutes ago. Its free and works great. No adverts or rubbish like that.

I know there are other apps out these that can write NFC tags, and I think I have used most of them. This is a much easier experience, and infinitely less flexible. I am a big fan of one tool to do one job. I will post some screenshots when my new domain name is active.
Anyway, if you are interested in SmartTags and have some stickers, check it out.
My favourite use case at the moment is to take 25mm sticker (purchased from www.rapidnfc.com), code it as a SmartTag and stick it to a car mount (a Brodit Proclip in my case). Use the Xperia SmartTag app to connect via bluetooth to the car stereo and then run my app Car Mode On. Finally make sure that the app Car Home v3 is installed (not mine). This launches when car mode is activated. Now, when I dock my phone, and unlock it, within 5 seconds I have it in car mode and connected to my speakers.
How do you use SmartTags?
Oh wow, thanks for writing this
I rewrote one of my Sony tags and have been too lazy to rewrite it by hand, I will test it out tomorrow but I think this is exactly what I was looking for!

Great little app, I love your approach to software, simple and clean!

Glad you like it. Now I have to decide what to write next. Perhaps fighting with Dock Mode so I can have a tag in a stand beside my bed?
Saying that it will probably be something mundane like a widget to remind me when to take the bins out and if it is a recycle week...
^ Ha, actually did laugh out loud at that last comment! Seriously though, you could tag your bin and get your phone to play 'Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work we go!' whenever you take it out.
Just me? Ahem...
In seriousness though, just downloaded your app and will be hooking myself up with some tags shortly. Had never looked and had no idea they were so cheap - ace! Will let you know how I fair : )
(Produces a hairless cat, swiveling chair and shiny silver suit from nowhere...
Wonder if I can find out what my works pass transmits and clone it to a tag which I could stick to the underside of one of my watches? Instead of producing a really thick credit card like object with a bad picture of my boat-race on, a mere flick of the wrist (Maatron!) could do the trick...)
Post updated to have screenshots. My website DNS entry has finally started working.

Be careful what you wish for. My latest project has just been put on the app store
NFC Bin Buddy
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vexedbadger.binbuddy
It lets you encode a date, some recurring rules and a notification type to an NFC tag. Stick this on your bin. Now, when you wave your phone over it it tells you how long until that bin is due to be collected. A really elegant abuse of technology.
[Americans, "bin" == "trash can"]
How much are regular NFC tags cos there's not a chance id pay the £20 for 4 glorified profile setups that T-Mobile asked!

I personally use rapidnfc.com they are uk based and have a wide range. Postage is expensive (2.50) and you need to add vat .they do some nice starter packs.
EBay is pretty cost effective for small volumes.
Dognfc.com has been recommended , but I have never used it.

I really wanted to have a nice car mount for the tablet.....So I took out my old Lego Technic blocks and came up with this... I did super glue 4 of the pegs in back that supports the mount onto the car but other than that its all legos holding legos. The post that the whole mount is slipped on top of is and old 7" screen mount I use to have in my car....I think the 10" screen looks better than the 7" ever did!

Pretty cool setup. What program/app is that in your third PIC?
The apps called torque its a obd2 engine ecu reader. You have to but a bluetooth obd2 scanner dongle that plugs into your car, i paid $20 shipped for mine off ebay
Purdy sweet. Did you have to glue the pieces or are they pretty secure without some type of adhesive?
Never mind I guess if I read the post instead of look at the pics I would have answered my own question. duh....
Haha thanks! Its defiantly cheap to make and it also can double as a stand for the gtab when its not in the car as well. The only thing I need to change is to lower the holders on the sides just a bit so I can get to the back button on the right side.

I just bought the gTab on woot and was planning on building a desk mount (I did one out of technic last year for my HD2, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6853719&postcount=367) but wasnt even thinking of these possibilities, and now I want that dongle for my RX8, so thanks man
Does anybody have a arm holster? I'm looking for a way to attach the phone to me while I jog in the morning. It isn't comfortable having the phone in my pocket or even holding it for a quick run. Let me know if such a thing exist for our awesome device.

Well I use a small camera pouch wich I pull through my belt , it works great as long as you do not have a to large one...
But I do think this is actually what you are aiming for :
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Black-Horizontal-Leather-Belt-Clip-Case-Cover-Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-X10-/260867611350
Nah In all seriousness this is probably what he is looking for.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5U1K8NKze4
If you look up "Xperia X10 Sport Armband" on Ebay you can pick one up for $5-$10
correct , I thought it was a belt-holster stinky was after but after reading once more I saw "arm-holster"....
my bad....
forget about ebay and all of those others .. waste of money!
use this site :
(cant post the address) site name: Deal Extreme. Google it..
they ship from hong-kong I think, shipment is free... most of the arm bands\holsters over there are around 1-2$
basically everything you buy is made in china so you might as well pay what its actually worth...
I used this site several times and got my shipment around 2 weeks ...
and they accept pay-pal
if you dont find for XPERIA the ones for iPhone work as well .. size is the same ...
It fitted perfectly for me and I have an X10 ~_~
plus look for something which can be closed from all the sides so the phone wont slide down ...
all of the arm bands are quite the same so its waste to over pay one something like that
hope it will help...
i bought one off ebay, just search for x10 armband
it's a clear case, the plastic interferes with the touchscreen
i cut off the top slightly to allow easier access
i can't find the my exact purchase, but it's just a simple black armband, just be careful the length of the strap is long enough
as for running with it, kind of heavy, but very useful with endomondo installed to use the gps tracking

I'll keep that in mind. I have 2 cars, so I might keep both the mounts, but I may let go of one of the docks. Depends on if I want one on my night stand and on my desk at the office, or one or the other.
Nice grab.

I can definitely say it's a nice thing to have, but maybe not for what it's been retailed for. I mainly use it on my desk at work, and I have one on my nightstand for my overnight charging and alarm clock. If you find a good deal on one around the $20 range, I would definitely recommend getting one.
As for the car dock, that's been a great addition. It charges, and make it easy to use for navigation. I haven't taken it on a trip, but when I do, I trust it'll do wonders for me.

As for this troll, here. He/she felt the need to PM me directly to tell me that I troll and rage on the forums, and that I don't possess the knowledge to "rage" on the forums. I've asked that they either not bother me with their accusations, or come clean on who they are, and what qualifies them to tell me that my conversations on these boards are unacceptable.

Quick question for those of you using the cradle. With I Grip, I know that once docked, it launches the Car Panel automatically. Does using the cradle launch anything in particular?
Also, since I am on the topic, do you any of you guys know if there is a way to turn off the auto launch

When you put it into the cradle, it launches the "Dock Mode" application automatically.
And yes, there is a way to turn off the Auto-Launch feature for the Dock Mode application. Open the application and go to Menu > Settings, then uncheck "Auto-Launch."
You can even set it to automatically turn on your HotSpot when connected. Just saw that, pretty cool.
I know I'm asking for a lot but I also want over the ear (not over the head DJ) or clip style. I read the headphone threads here in their entirety but nothing addressed my specific needs. I don't need anything fancy and to give you an idea, here's what I've been using for years now:

As you can see I'm not an audiophile when it comes to headphones. I bought my first pair of these about a dozen years ago and bought them for use under a motorcycle helmet. The look like they would be uncomfortable but surprisingly they are more comfortable under a helmet than ear buds which are smaller.
I digress.
I want something that is similar in design to these but I want an inline mic and music controls. I would like to be able to answer/end calls, play/pause music and skip forward & backwards. What I'm finding is that lots of these earphones won't control the Android phones fully. It sounds like some include free apps that will bring full functionality to the Android OS. For instance, these Philips earphones say they will do all sorts of snazzy things with the free app but the question is do these apps that manufacturers offer allow you to keep whatever music playing app you use? For instance, I use Google Music to stream all my music as my primary player so will this app work in union with this app? I would rather spend less but if these work as advertised I don't mind spending that much to get something that does what I need it to do. Here is another option for about 1/3 the price as those Philips but I don't know if they will work on the Android as it lists iPhone and Blackberry and I know some have issues.
I know someone will try to recommend more expensive headphones but if it's strictly for sound quality, I really don't care to spend more money to be honest. Look what I've been happy with for the past decade or so. Just looking for the cheapest corded headphones that meet my needs here.
Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. I bought some Beats Tours at Best Buy today to get me through my trip I leave for in a few hours. Naturally $150 is WAY more than I planned to spend so I also ordered some knock-off Beats headphones that were around what you told me to search for. I plan to compare them side by side when they arrive and if the real headphones are 10x better I will keep them. This isn't likely but if the difference really is that big I'll keep them. So far I'm underwhelmed but haven't had too much of a chance to use them. I basically plugged them in long enough to install the free app 'Jays Headset' to configure it. Now, even though I only have the one button I have FULL controls of my phone and it appears to work flawlessly with limited testing I did. I may revisit this thread later on but for now I think I've got what I need. As I said in the OP I wanted clip style so if I decide I hate these in-ear style (possible) I will start fresh trying to find some more clip over the ear style.
Thought I'd start a thread and mix it up a little. There's plenty of 'standard' products out there, but here and there some products can stand out as really worth some attention. Whether for being really useful, or interesting and cool. So here are a few things I've seen, please also share any you've found as well.

Wooo Sensordrone! I actually work for the small company that makes the Sensordrone; currently, I write most all of the software. I don't want to come across as the d-bag talking up their own product, but since this is xda, I just wanted to mention that we're pretty developer friendly. Not only did we set up an API/Library to easily write stuff, but we open sourced the library and communication protocol we built, so you can even do your own thing with it if you want.
