hey
i am having a random reboot at&t aria 2.2.2 with CWM installed and HBOOT 1.2.0000 ... i do need to install 1.3 coz i think it will solve the problem.
i tried to install the original ruu from htc website
i picked the one for CINGULAIR USA but it wont go through
The latest stock ATT Aria rom I got from the HTC website is "HTC_Aria_for_ATT_Android_2.2_ROM_Update.exe" dated 2/26/2011. Last I checked it was no longer posted. Only instructions for the OTA update. Its 161 meg. I can post it somewhere or send if you can't find it.
You need the HBOOT drivers installed on your computer and the phone connected with USB Debugging checked.
I was not able to run the ATT ROM Update from a Windows 7 machine, but it worked from my XP laptop.
This does not change the HBOOT. To change the HBOOT version you need to run the S-ON routine listed under the development thread as "[TUT] Return official S-ON HBOOT 1.02." (I don't know what HBOOT 1.3 is, when I am rooted the HBOOT version is 6.02.1002.)
To root the phone I used the instructions posted on the development thread as
"(GUIDE) How To S-Off and ROOT Aria 2.2.2"
I have used these instructions to root, un-root and re-root my phones several times with absolutely no problem.

I get to step 12 on the htcdev website and everything looks normal yet nothing on my phone changes (no screen asking me if i want to unlock the bootloader). I just got this refurb today and am desperately in need of titanium backup to restore some important info. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? I would love to get suggestions on a possible solution.
THanks for your help!

Short Answer: off the top of my head, is the device updated to the latest hboot version? Probably will need the latest hboot version to complete the htc unlock process.
Long Answer: I don't have the HTC steps for their specific unlock method memorized. In order to help you, I logged into their web site, created an account and went as far through the steps as possible without completing their method as I'm already unlocked through the revolutionary method.
Step 10 is the step where the hash code from the device is submitted to HTC. I'm not able to see any step beyond Step 10.
The more information you're able to share, the wider group of individuals you'll allow to provide solutions. If you're able to share with us the specifics of Step 11 and Step 12, we might be able to provide more detailed help.
Keep us updated! Hope that helps!
Im having the same issue unlocking my white evo 3d. came with the lastest firmware out of the box and now step 12 says successful and nothing happens on the phone, very frustrating ive tried getting new unlock bins and nothing im running windows 7 and am very familar with rooting other devices. Your white EVO came with 2.3.4 out of the box? Mine didn't. Shut down the phone, remove battery, then boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power. Once in bootloader tell me the bootloader version. If it is 1.40 like mine was you can use revolutionary. You guys are probably stuck at that step because you don't have the 1.50 hboot and probably have a lower hboot. If it is lower than 1.50 do the revolutionary method.

I just wanted to chime in and say for anyone having the issue of the HTC Dev root method not working for them on steps 12 or 13:
flash error due to too many links
flash failing
flash hanging on sending Unlock_code.bin
flash appearing to send successfully, but still no disclaimer screen appearing
All of these problems were solved for me after by updating my phone to 2.08.651.3 via HTC software update in the Android OS.
Thanks to dastin1015 and lchupacabras for the suggestion.
I just got a new 3d yesterday, it came with 2.08.651.2 and I got hung up on step 12 as mentioned, it looked like it flashed but I got no unlock screen on the phone. I updated my phone to .3 as mentioned by bleaktrotter and I'm having the same problem...currently downloading the .2 RUU....?

Nope. You need to I.D. your phones Hboot version first.
- Hboot 1.30 or 1.40 : use the revolutionary.io Full S-Off Method (Official RUU updates will kill the exploit).
- Hboot 1.50 : Your stuck using the HTCdev.com unlock method (S-On, Unlocked bootloader, mostly rooted). I used Zedomax's Guide from HtcEvoHacks.com but had some issues that weren't due to Max's guide and had to run the RUU (Rom Update Utility).

i'll found how to fix this problem and feedback as fast as i can
Ok after 5 hours of trying to unlock my bootloader, all you have to do is install the 2.17 RUU.exe and then go into fastboot and unlock using the htc method.

Is there a flashable rom to get me to the last available rom on the 3D? I am putting it on ebay and need to get it on stock I think.

It's up to you how you want to sell it. There is an option for saying your phone is rooted when you make the listing so you can leave it as-is, or if you'd rather sell it unrooted and locked, you can run an RUU.exe to get it to factory specs.
If you want it completely stock and on the latest OTA, go here: http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Shooter
If you have sprint, download the file labeled: RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed.exe
If you have a GSM phone, I'm not sure what the latest release is. If you're on GSM, do NOT run that RUU on your phone or you'll be left with a brick.

How do I install an exe file. I tried a zip file of the same rom but it would only show that it updated but nothing really happened. I am on sprint.
thanks
You can find a working link to latest sprint 2.89 Ruu in my HTC Unlock guide (see signature for links & details), Football pulled the Ruu thread apparently.
Just put the phone into "fastboot USB" mode, connect to pc and run the Ruu.exe from Windows OS. It will update firmware, radio, hboot, etc and retain s-Off.
Hopefully u never ran any of the leaked Virgin Mobile firmware. That's a whole separate problem that can't be fixed with just the Ruu.

You probably took the update and tried to install it with a custom recovery installed. If so, it appears that will result in a partially installed update with the ROM updated and the kernel not being flashed, which causes WiFi errors.
If that's your situation the best thing to do is flash a stock rooted ROM if that is what you were using prior to taking the OTA.

I found this thread because I'm in a similar situation. I tried downloading from the quoted link and using 4eXT recovery to load the zip file from sd card and it says "installation aborted".
Any ideas on what to try next? My eventual goal is to get back to 100% showroom stock non-rooted, locked booloader, so that the phone will accept OTA updates fully. Modding/ROMing is a drug I experimented with, and am now ready to go back to the straight and narrow. I'd prefer the phone not have any scars whatsoever from my old habits.
Additional background:
Started with ICS OTA. Used HTC unlock to unlock bootloader. Coworker installed rom toolbox, superSU and 4eXT recovery (not sure what order) to get SOS rom up and running. Never did go for S-OFF.
Decided I wanted to return to 100% Sprint factory stock. Coworker promptly moved across country, leaving me to figure this out. Tried using several ROMs from XDA and elsewhere, and eventually ended up with a rooted almost stock ROM, but had to flash my own radios via 4eXT, as wifi and 4G weren't working from the rom. Flashing my own radios via 4eXT, got to 2.89 with then current radios.
While sitting in my hotel travelling abroad with no international data plan and super slow hotel wifi, I foolishly downloaded OTA this morning, promptly killing my phone's wifi. Phone is still rooted with 4eXT, superSU, installed on it if that helps.

How about S-Off phones?
Hello... so my fiance' has a Virgin Mobile Evo 3D. I downloaded the update from them and tried to install it through the custom recovery. It did what Ramjet said by updating the ROM and not the Kernel. I now have no wifi,it says wifi error when trying to turn it on. Since then, I have made sure the stock ROM was rooted, and have also HTCDev unlocked the device as well as S-Off with the Junobear wire trick and Linux. Now that I'm S-Off, is it ok to use an RUU to downgrade everything? Just wondering before I go any further and brick the device or screw up something I shouldn't. I figure it's better to ask questions first before doing it lol! Any help is greatly appreciated from anybody! I have my specs listed here for you all:

Was this new thread ever made because I am a Virgin Mobile user too just like the above user and ever since last update my wireless has stated error.
If ur phone's bootloader is unlocked, relock your phone by using the fastboot command "fastboot oem lock". Then just download the 2.89 RUU.exe. (i know ur on 2.95 but i have not seen the 2.95 ruu floating around hgere yet) Run it on a windows PC and follow the prompts and it should flash correctly on your phone (caution, it will erase everything on your phone). Once its flashed, the phone will reboot (sometimes more than once) just let it do its thing
Once the phone has flashed correctly, do a software update and it will update to 2.95
Worked for me when i had to go back to stock in order to return it for warranty when the digitizer went out
EDIT:
Here is the link to the 2.95 OTA http://d-h.st/vUe
Download to your PC, then unzip it, and run it after you have relocked your phone
Should you need them, here is the list of HBOOTS (thanks to ramjet73) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29844945#post29844945

This sounds hopeful, I did try to install this before with no luck, it gave me a 131 custom id error. I did it relocked and I am currently 2.95.652.5, and S-ON.
any suggestions?

Hey,
Doing some work on a friends device. He brought it in said that he bought the device a while ago and it was custom and wanted to simply return to stock so he could update to the newest firmware. Normally I can search and find the answers I need but Im stumped at the moment.
So when he brought it to me, the system was in this state:
Bootloader - UNLOCKED
S-ON
HBOOT - 1.44
Recovery - CWM
ROM - CleanRom1.0
Android Version 4.2
So I figured I would relock the bootloader and run an RUU to bring him back to stock. I used "RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_Cingular" to bring him back to stock. It actually brought the device back to 4.1.2 which is what I believe it was on when it was rooted and customized in the first place. Anyhow, I popped my ATT card in there and hit software update and it downloaded it, restarted, and when it came back up, its still on 4.1.2?? And the software update and ATT software update section both say the device is up to date.
Then I downloaded the latest stock RUU which is - "RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_Cingular_US_4.18.502.7_R10_Radio_4T.24.3218.09_10.26.1718.01L_release_356565_signed_2"
Ran that and it tells gives me and error saying that I should download the correct image file.
So my question to you is, do I need to unlock the bootloader again and gain S-OFF to run this RUU properly? I was under the impression that once the device was back to stock, I could update it again. My goal here is to get this phone on KitKat for him.
Current System State -
Bootloader - RELOCKED
S-ON
HBOOT - 1.44
Recovery - STOCK? Just get a phone with a red triangle with an ! in the middle.
ROM - Stock
Android Version - 4.1.2
Thanks in advance.
I would recommend trying to S-OFF the device first, before updating anything. The current S-OFF tools may not work after the latest updates. Try Firewater w/ the temproot method first. Once you get S-OFF you have more options to update.
I've seen a few posts lately where the latest AT&T 4.4 RUU isn't working for some people (see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723785). I'm planning on trying it this weekend. If it doesn't work for me, my plan is to run the 4.3 RUU from here then install the OTA, either through "Software Updates" on the phone or install it manually.

I would think so. I never looked at HTC One Toolkit, though so don't know what it's all about. When I was researching S-OFF, Rumrunner then Firewater were the goto tools to S-OFF. Personally, I prefer not to use toolkits. Just rather figure out the commands to run myself. But if they work for you, go for it.

the android 4.3 ruu followed by the OTA update is the easy way to AT&T 4.4.2

I recently decided that I wanted to unroot my HTC Droid DNA. I am just tired of the bugs that come with custom roms and I never really took advantage of root. I tried to use RUU to unroot but I kept getting error 155. I found out that is caused by having the wrong hboot version. I had 1.57 and needed 1.54. I downgraded but accidentally went down to 1.33 and now my computer won't recognize my phone so I can't upgrade my hboot to what I need it to be. I have tried to install the drivers manually the same way I did when I first decided to root my phone but it says that the drivers aren't compatible. Does anyone know of any drivers that I can use or any other way I can unroot my phone? Thanks in advance!
I found a stock android 4.4.2 rom and have decided to just use that rather than unroot my phone. I would still like to know how to update my hboot though so that I can use fastboot. Is there a way I could do it through recovery? If not I guess I need to drivers for hboot 1.33.
