Hi,
thisi s very different to bebot, unfortunately. It's a nice starting point, but it's so far...
wow, i had searched for the bebot for iphone. It's looks good, hope it comes to us.
Help me! I'm so close to buying an iPad JUST for the BeBot app. Theres absolutely no musical synth like it in an Android app or even in straight musical hardware (short of a Haken Continuum, which with the required keyboard sound module costs between $6000 - $8000).
I'd love to see something comparable for Android. Or maybe if enough of us poke the developer with a stick they will make an Android version...
(can't post links, Google Normalware BeBot for developer's site)
I really don't want an iPad as a tablet. But if theres no other way to get this app, I may not have a choice.
Synth2
Sorry for posting in such an old thread.
I have been working on a similar app for Android for some time. I just release, what I call, a Beta version of it. It doesn't have the animations and the settings are quite different. Try it out! I call it "Synth2". All feedback is, of course, most welcome!
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post links, but here is the URL: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mejf.synth2
Just letting you know..

This! I downloaded the file, but I have yet to install it.
There is an article on this here. Downloading and installing in a second. I think it's hilarious that Apple made this their top marketing point for the 4S and in 8 hours, something incredibly similar gets developed (not to mention other apps that work pretty much the same, like Vlingo and such).

Using it right now, it's not like Siri, but I'm sure it will get there, pretty similar to Vlingo, although this one seems to be quicker, at least for me.
Anyway, it's already on the Android Market. Linkage.

I installed it and uninstalled it roughly five minutes later. It is definitely an alpha (as noted in its title) and in its current state, it's nothing more than a concept app. It has potential though!

Eva is actually pretty responsive with a lot of command options. Like setting reminders, calendar dates, texts, etc. Still getting to know the program a bit better but so far its pretty good.
Pretty cool I think. It gave me a couple laughs. I wish it didnt speak the question or statement you asked, and really wish the voice wasn't so annoying and more smoother. But its still early, can't wait for more updates. I'm enjoying it.

One thing I don't care much is for the UI on Iris or Eva. I think Devs might consider more of a ICS UI. That's why I'm currently using Vlingo, clean and slick, with no cheesy avatar, or play-school looking UI.

What time is it?

Wat? It's UK BST, here, and that wasn't what I asked!

In 45 minutes? Why in 45 minutes?
...and it gets worse. Silly Eliza bot.
The speech recognition is good, but that's a library import. The utility is nil.
Still sounds very funny, but I will look forward to future versions. And its a fact, the devs here on XDA are so damn good.
I've used it once or twice and although laggy and sometimes times out but it's interesting and I look forwards to further progress :]
I just download a new app ib the Market that totally blow my mind of and is the fact that, alpha yet, is a amazing copy of Siri and does almost everything like Siri ... it call, text, search google and talk with me perfectly amazing, do you guys know about that app? Speaktoit Assistant is about 100 times better, faster and a lot more
accurate than the Siri app is.
(it even has a teaching mode if you ask for it nicely)

My friend unleashed Siri on me for the first time with his iPhone to show it off. The overall functionality of that program blew my mind the way its able to understand questions and commands in so many different ways and perform its actions... I started looking into an Android alternative, and let me tell you, we got a lot of catching up to do... I tried Iris, and its OK but its laggy and only understands simple commands.... Speaktoit on the otherhand, was way more functional with added features that Siri lacks and has so much potential.... play with it and post your opinions, I'm just glad that the devs jumped on this early and are doing an awesome job with what they've put out... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES AND GENTS!

I haven't tried speaktoit but I will, but Iris I fond kind of amusing with its sarcastic remarks. My wife asked me to ASK THE PHONE IF SHE WILL MARRY YOU so I did. (My wife has issues with me on the phone tweaking it all the time) and Iris came back with, WE WILL HAVE TO DATE FIRST. My wife about died.
I think it can and will be an amazing app, not bad that the giluy came up with a semi working model of it after ONLY 8 hours. So I would say it is safe to assume he will make it work even better. Now to test out speaktoit.

Hi:
Speaktoit seems awesome. I liked it better than Iris.
I was wondering is there a way to change to a male voice?
I see it gives the options of Pico TTS, or Samsung TTS, but they both sound similar.
How can I add new voices?
Thanks so much!
SVOX is what you're looking for. There may be free apps, but it's worked great for me. Each voice comes with a free two week trial.

You might want to also look at "Eva Intern". Right now I have Vlingo, Speaktoit, and Eva Intern on my phone. Looked at Iris. Don't remember why I uninstalled it.
I prefer straight up Voice Actions. Having it talk back to me is cute and all, but ultimately it just adds time to getting things done. Once the novelty wears off, it's just a nuisance IMO.

I tried Eva....insanely annoying. It wouldn't just read out the text messages that came in, it interrupted anything else I was doing at the time to go full screen and read the message. When I backed out of it it would just go back to the home screen. Even when I told it to exit, it would start back up again. I uninstalled it soon after I began to get annoyed with it.
I currently have Speaktoit, Vlingo Personal Assistant, Iris, and Skyvi.
Speaktoit is pretty decent especially after the last update. Their word filter was so strong you couldn't even ask for information on something if it had what it considered a "bad word" in the name. I did notice that when I give it a name, it doesn't seem to stay set for long. It keeps going back to Sam. It's still pretty sweet though.
Vlingo is pretty nice. I'm thinking I like the app from the market better than the one made for the GSII that came with the phone. I like how it doesn't just read out the responses to you, but lets you choose for it to read them back or not. The voice is also more "natural" than others.
Iris has a long way to go, but looks to be on the right track. I don't like how it repeats what you ask it and then takes longer than it really should to respond to you. The quirky responses are pretty funny at times.
Skyvi is one I haven't really heard people mention, but I found it in the market and gave it a shot. I like how you can connect to facebook and twitter and then interact with those services from the app. You can have it read your news updates from facebook, your own wall, or other friends' walls. You can also have it read your twitter feed out loud to you. This is among the other typical voice commands most of the others have. I haven't seen any others that will read your facebook and twitter feeds to you though.
Pretty funny that Iris is just Siri spelled backward. Hope it ends up working well.
Looking for an add-on or app that will lend some intelligence to the Rezound in the areas of notifications and sounds (or, if it's already there and I am missing how to do it, please advise).
Specifically, I am hoping to find a way to do the following:
- Let me program a "night" mode - so during certain hours (say, 11PM-7AM?) my notifications sounds are muted (buzz is ok)
- Need to do this independently of the ringer (as I don't want my ringer muted during this time)
- Need to be able to control the reminder buzz/sound. Don't need to be constantly buzzed at night when an email comes in and I don't acknowledge it
- One more for the wish list - a way to tell my alarm I keep set for Mon-Fri that I want it to skip one day (such as on the 4th last week, when I was off). Would prefer that to turning off the alarm, and setting a reminder in my calendar to enable the alarm again the next day.
FYI, running Nil's ICS Business Sense 5.3 ROM.

Btw - THAT was a good response.
I don't mind a learning curve, and at least now I have some clue as to what to research...also figured someone may have already created a mod or tweak (or app) to do these sorts of things, hence why I asked.
Seems these would be basic functions you would expect to find in a smart phone?

Well just so you know, me, jayochs, nosympathy, and maybe blestsol and superchilpil are very likely to give you sarcastic/trollish answers lol
And I was just saying you could do it manually like put it on silent and stuff if you play around in both sound settings and the messaging app settings
Got it...thanks for the heads-up.
FYI, I found what I was looking for on the wife's new Droid4 called Smart Actions.
Seems its a Moto only app, but I found one called Llama that seems to work in a similar fashion.
Can automate all sorts of things (and provide exclusions by contact if you like) based on location, time, or various actions.

The GNote apps are already included in all Touchwiz based custom ROMs AFAIK. Porting is not necessary.
I'm not a developer but the way that I understand it is that the s-pen apps need specific touchwiz framework to operate, that's why they don't work for AOSP/AOKP/CM ROMs. I could be wrong, but that's the way that I understand it.

The answer of course is surprisingly simple – the blind user can sit behind the driver in the car and thus do their banking independently, without having to exit the car, go to the bank-counter and have the clerk assist them with their financial needs. Just as for sighted users, it is quick, easy and time-saving.
