[Q] fastboot and adb drivers - HTC Rezound

Ok to do S-OFF it says to install fastboot and adb drivers. where can I find these?
Someone said it was HTC Sync but in the instructions it says to Disable HTC sync so I am a little confused.

you can download and install HTC sync for the drivers, then uninstall it. the drivers will remain

You don't install fastboot/adb drivers to gain adb. Like the guy above me said, just install HTC sync then uninstall and you'll have the drivers. Then Google adb tools and you'll have them

when you rooted the phone using either htc unlock or regawmod the necessary drivers were a prerequisite, you should already have the necessary drivers need to run a ruu. If you for some reason still need to install the drivers then install the htc driver package (v3.0.5). If you do not have or can not find the package, you can download htc sync install package and it will install the necessary drivers

Forgot the second i, thanks.
so it found the drivers but now it wont let me use adb to push a kernal image. is there any other way to do this.
You don't use adb you use fastboot, reboot to bootloader and open the terminal in Adb tools or SDK and run fast boot flash boot boot.img and make sure the image file is in the same folder or type the full extension address for the boot image

LOL, so is it safe to assume that during your testing you had issues with folks not removing htc sync??

Good to see this Fuses. Looks like an excellent alternative to Dirty Racun for those folks on the latest OTA that can't use Facepalm.

So my Moonshine S-Off failed when distiller.exe was running on Test #2 when it was waiting for ADB. Told me to fix it myself. Any ideas on how to fix it please?
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with where I extract "moonshine_jewel_3.16.651.3.zip" to? Should all the files be in the same folder as adb.exe? I'm running the Windows version by the way. Test #1 for Fastboot passed successfully.
Thanks in advance!

This isn't working for me. I get stuck at test 3. It just keeps adding more dots: ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
When you say removing HTC Sync, are you talking about "HTC Sync Manager" on the phone itself? Reason I ask is because I think adb isn't connecting to the phone is because by default, when the phone reboots, the USB connection type is selecting "HTC Sync Manager", which causes adb to not find the device. When I change the USB connection type to "Disk Drive", I'm able to see my devices listed when issuing the "adb devices" command. Does anyone know how to fix this? To make the USB connection type default to "Disk Drive" rather than "HTC Sync Manager" when it reboots? Thanks!
Regarding your first question, make sure HTC Sync is removed from your computer.

Yes, I shall try that. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for this!! Worked perfectly. Very simple. Just picked up my EVO after my Galaxy Nexus broke, have been wanting to root and S-off but don't have any blank DVDS to make a linux live-CD, and just got foot surgery so cant drive to the store... This method saved me there. Makes everything extremely simple. This is basically like a 1 click S-off, if you follow the directions. Thanks again!
This works perfectly I must say. Thank you very much!!! I am now S-OFF!!!
Make sure your ADB and Fastboot is working (this is huge), and HTC Sync is 100% uninstalled, but the HTC drivers are still installed. Your phone will restart probably 8 times once Moonshine recognizes your ADB the first time.
If anyone needs any help let me know. This is by far the easiest S-Off of all time!!! Now quit pretending having S-On is acceptable and DO THIS!!!

If you followed the directions 100%, then I wonder how this could fail. If your HTC unlocked, then you should have fastboot and ADB working, I would double check that. Make sure you have everything working and that you have followed the directions 100% perfectly, and it should be easy.

[Q] Help with fastboot

Hello,
I think I've exhausted all avenues to try to get my HTC S-OFF, but the S-OFF actually stems from a different problem.
I can't get fastboot to work on my computer. (Which is on Windows 8.1)
Steps I've taken:
Uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Drivers, Android SDK drivers.
Used universal adb drivers after uninstalling HTC drivers.
Used mini adb and fastboot method.
Tried the htc evo 4g lte quick kit (mini kit?)
Tried installing some manual drivers using the method located on these forums called "[FIX] Working Fastboot Drivers for Windows 8.1 x64" from the droid-now website.
None have worked.
I'm trying to install the 4.4 carbon rom but I keep getting an error when installing the rom. I also tried the haunted carbon rom but I learned that I need to flash the boot.img in order for the rom to work. I can't flash it without fastboot (unless there's some other magical way I have yet to learn?)
I'd prefer to S-OFF my phone to be able to flash the 4.4 rom, but realistically all I want is fastboot to gain s-off as I am trying to use the moonshine method but I get stuck when it needs fastboot. Most S-OFF methods also require fastboot from my reading, so without fastboot, I can't do shiz.
I've spent hours, literally HOURS, trying to make this work.
Please help
Use another PC that is not Win 8.1 the drivers are hit or miss whether they work or not

Is there a mac method to getting S-OFF?

Cannot S-Off with Firewater or Rumrunner

Edit: Got it working. Thanks for all the help
Need some help. I've been trying to S-off my Max but I'm unable to. I've tried Firewater and I get no error. It just says opening bottle 1, chugging, then goes right back to command line.
Rumrunner gives me an error about extracting files. I have everything setup in my platform tools folder.
I am on Hboot 2.46, Sprint Max. I'm unlocked by htcdev, rooted, and twrp recovery installed. I really need to figure out how to s-off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you sure you have the correct drivers installed completely? When I did it I hit problems and it turned out that my drivers were not installed completely.

I installed htc sync manager, got the drivers from there because adb wasn't recognizing the device, once it was recognized, i uninstalled htc sync manager like the instructions for firewater and rumrunner say, went through the firewater instructions and nothing. I then tried rumrunner and get the error.
I installed HTC sync and left it installed, just disabled it once I plugged into the usb. Then I ran through the rumrunner forum. Beyond that, I really can't say since I'm not a dev or a programmer.

Yes. I just had to stop putting the rumrunner files in the platform tools folder. Made an s-off folder, then put platform tools and rumrunner folders in it and it worked like a charm.
Version of windows?
After verifying that fastboot and adb worked properly, I just followed the
section for stock, locked devices, like Verizon's.
push temproot, push firewater,
adb shell
chmod 755 both files
run the temproot file (takes a long time)
run firewater, everything worked.

unlock errors

Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
need a little help...followed directions.
Verizon Max cannot be unlocked via htcdev. Use rumrunner or firewater
Just figured that out. I'm looking for the device drivers now, I don't think they are installing correctly from my phone. When I try running rumrunner no adb, checked it and it won't find device.

after a pc redo I head that problem myself yesterday, I installed HTC Sync Manager then uninstalled it. All the drivers were in and everything, adb and fastboot commands worked great.
