Since Linux is the Kernel, you already run "a full linux distribution" on your SGS2 if you are running Android.
But you could run chroot ubuntu search for it

Hi guys is there any way available to change my Samsung Galaxy y os
u mean custom rom right?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
If you mean your android rom, go to the device search. Typ galaxy y, go to your forum, choose developing/upgrading, modefying, unlocking. Choose a post with all avaideble roms. Choose a android 2.3.7 rom (best for you). Be sure its bug free, or at least stable

Yes and no.
With an unlocked bootloader and a significant effort, it should be possibile to install a linux for arm distribution on almost any android device - I mean not in chroot, but nativley. Once the bootloader is unlocked, you can flash any kernel, even those suitable for a debian arm o ubuntu arm distro.
Though it very likely would lack a working phone call module and it'd be quite useless.
On the other side, I don't know if anybody has ever ported windows mobile on android phones, but I don't think so. Not yet, at least, apart from legal matters.
But I frankly don't think that such experiments, though funny, could turn into something actually usable.
Hi.
I wonder how to get the 'swipe to get screenshot' into my jelly bean rom. Any hint?
Its mainly based on Samsung framework, its not possible to implement it into aosp I'm afraid

I think with siyah some features can be used, you have to load a script or module for them, so check over on the thread

Yes, as above mentioned, you have to compile a Kernel with additions to overclock frequencies from Stock kernel sources which is available in Samsung website.

In this website (http://opensource.samsung.com/) you'll find the Kernel source. Just look for GT-S5570I. Anyways to do kernel compiling you must have a Linux build environment set up and relevant toolchain. There are guides available here at XDA for learning kernel development. Just search for them. Good Luck!
hi guys!

A rom is the combination of a kernel, middleware and system apps and included stuff. A kernel alone is the main part of any OS. It essentially manages the hardware, multitasking, drivers, memory management everything technical really is managed by the kernel. People often mistake linux as an operating system when in fact it is a kernel. it takes other things on top of the linux kernel to make an os, like for example Ubuntu or Android. You may want a custom kernel to keep the apps and features of your rom but improve cpu usage or memory management or to add features like overclocking.

Not dualboot, but I followed a Windows XP for Bochs tutorial and had Windows XP running on my Sony Tablet S. It worked, but I was never impressed with its performance. I may someday, just out of curiosity, try running it on my Xperia Tablet Z.

Its not possible via dualboot? Then singleboot?
Bochs is just bad, performance is awful.
