hi all
a mate at work has (had) brick his phone
after he try'd root it and then install ics
after booting the phone it would load the samsung screen and just say there .
after many try's today iv manage to install a EU FW
baseband 19100xxlpq
KV 3.0.15-19100xxlpq
and got it to work ...
but after looking at the "about phone" thats when iv notice it was EU FW that iv installed ..
so what im asking is will this FW work and be ok from now on ?
or should try and install the correct FW?
the phone is on t-moblie
will work fine, if anything youve improved it by getting rid of all the carrier bloatware. Though if he got it from t-mobile themselves you would probably have to flash their firmware onto it if it had to go back for warranty issues. The firmwares can be found in intratechs firmware thread in development section.
Questions should be in the Questions section by the way

Have they released new version of android(2.3.5) for region code 'XEU'. ?
no not yet
rather they spend their time working on ICS so we won't have to wait a age for that.
But they have released the new firmware for some regions. I'm already on 2.3.5. But its not official. Its a leaked one. Thinking to flash the official one coz I heard official one is far better than leaked firmware.

just like Q&A is the correct forum for a question .

Hi guys,
This may be an absolute stupid question about firmwares but I don't understand why some people are able to updated to 2.3.4 or even 2.3.5 whereas my O2 branded handset is so far behind and is only on 2.3.3 and KE7
Anyone know why and how these firmware gets rolled out to different phones/providers?
Different firmwares for different regions. You can always flash a firmware of different region which may be 2.3.5, when your country/carrier might not have the latest one available.
Like, I am in India, using KI4 2.3.5, which is an European ROM as my country doesn't have the latest ROM available yet, officially.

I'm afraid if you want to wait for official O2 updates via Kies then you'll be in for a long wait my friend.
If you want the latest and greatest firmwares then I would suggest you read the 1st 3 posts of Intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278.
Then read them again and then read them again! It's not as complicated as some make out.
Then decide if you want to take the plunge and take control of your own updates using Odin. I was a total noob and did it and I now now flash the latest firmware as soon as the legend that is Intratech posts them.
You can also get rid of the O2 branding if you want to.
Alternatively you can get the latest O2 branded firmware from Intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 but that's so far behind it's almost embarassing.

Thanks for that, I used to have it updating via Odin but decided to go back to the Kies route to wait for the official upgrades. Silly move by me.
I'll update it to 2.3.5 tonight - thanks
It'll be like having a new phone coming from KE7.

I recently Bought my S5830. It Originally came from a carrier named IMMEX, which is a small startup wireless provider in Pennsylvania, USA.
It was unlocked, and worked well with my At&t SIM card. It originally had 2.2.1 on it, and unfortunately that is all I remember.
I wanted to overclock it and long story short, I flashed as many roms as I could in a 24 hour period without backing up my original Firmware.
I am currently using gingerreal, and it works better than any other firmware I have found., I get a quadrant score of 1950 and I'm happy with that, except there are a lot of bugs. Wifi barely works, I can't install any apps without the phone rebooting, and I can't connect to HDSPA.
I checked at Samfirmware, but they have no usa region firmwares that I could find. I can only assume that this phone never had a major release in the USA.
Does this mean that I am screwed, or is there a firmware that is similar enough to my region that i can restore full functionality to my device?
Also; I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum. The general Forum description says for Q&A, but the tick box below this text frame tells me I am breaking forum rules by posting this here.
i think why don't you flash European or asian firmwares ?? if you want stock then you can use them there is really no difference ... just some are more stable
Well, that is a simple fix. Thank you VERY much. Downloading now, as soon as hotfile will let me, I'll update the thread with the results.
Hey, I tried several different firmwares from asia and europe, and I still have connectivity issues, with both Wifi and 3g. With any of these, I can't make outgoing calls either.
Any new Ideas?
try flash different modem and see any of them solve ur problem. see thread in development subforum
Doubtless this is answered over several dozen technical threads so apologies if you deem this replication, but...
What are my options for getting Samsung's TouchWiz version of Ice Cream Sandwich on my S2 at this point?
Is it available to download and flash? I would want as official and safe as possible.
If so, what is the process? Where can I find info etc?
Thanks for the help.

Read the stickies in this forum.
These are custom ROMs. There are also factory ICS ROMs available from sammobile.com
And yes, your question has been posted and answered multiple times before.
Look through sammobile.com, read everything.
Or try Google...

Thanks. So basically, I'm not seeing an unbranded, UK version of Samsung ICS for my phone.
Simply not yet available?

Official versions of firmware generally disseminate via carriers. I doubt you can get an unbranded official firmware. But it's not like the brand shows up in the firmware, your best bet is to flash the brand that was originally associated with your phone, if you want official. That way your warranty's intact. For example, if you got your phone from Orange, flash the ICS that came from Orange...there won't be an Orange logo anywhere in it.
If you're looking for 'official' and if it's not @sammobile.com, it doesn't exist...and there's been plenty of time that's passed.

Correct so far networks released first .
O2 is probably the cleanest UK branded firmware .
Yes ten million UK XDA users are running ICS from the posted threads .

I have no idea what is happening. The phone is unlocked and installed CWM when I was in China one week ago since I need a different rom so that I can use Chinese service provider's internet. I went back to America yesterday and found verizon wouldn't work then I try to figure that out by myself.
During that time, I flashed VRALI3 baseband with CWM. Verizon's signal came back again when I flashed the stock rom but VRALI3 stays on my phone. That was all I have done to my phone so far. I couldn't find anything about VRALI3 on google and I need help with this. Thank you!!![[[[[[[[[[[Android Version 4.1.1,Baseband Version I605VRALI3, Build: JRO03C.I605VRALJB]]]]]]]]]]]]
